About the author

Kjartan Poskitt is an author and TV presenter who is best known for writing the Murderous Maths children's series of books. Poskitt was educated at Collingwood College, Durham. In addition to his popular science and maths books, which include books on Isaac Newton (Dead Famous: Isaac Newton and his Apple), puzzles, practical jokes and secred codes, Poskitt has written a book of magical tricks, a GCSE Maths support book and four Rosie and Jim annuals. In 2007, Poskit published the first in a new series of children's novels called Urgum the Axeman.

He also wrote the theme tune for the children's art program SMart, as well as the title theme and music for the first two series of Brum. He is also the creator of a logic puzzle, Kjarposko.

He has been a presenter for a number of (mostly BBC) educational children's TV shows.

كلا اين مجموعه علوم و تاريخ ترسناكو خيلى دوست دارم. به نظرم مجموعه هاى خيلى خوبى اند. اين كتاب هم تونست به من چيز يادنگير از علوم هيچى ندان چيزهايى ياد بده ولى هنوز هم چيزهايى مثل سياه چاله و انحناى زمان و اين هارو كوچكترين تصورى هم ندارم كه چى اند. متاسفانه تمام شوخ طبعى كتاب تو ترجمه از بين رفته بود ولى با اين حال كتاب هاى بسيار خوبى اند. البته براى كودك نوجوان نوشته شده ند ولى من از خوندنشون لذت (و فايده) مى برم.

Gdyby tak wyglądały podręczniki szkolne, to mielibyśmy chmarę geniuszy. Informacje w książce były zawarte w taki sposób, że pamiętam je do dzisiaj!

Omdat het Kinderboekenweek is, had ik deze week een goed excuus om weer even wat nieuwe kinderboeken in te slaan. Ik zal deze later immers gebruiken wanneer ik lerares ben, en anders voor mijn toekomstige kinderen of puur voor eigen genot. Ik kocht onder anderen 'Echt gigantisch, dat heelal' van de 'Waanzinnig om te weten' reeks. Ik las deze boeken vroeger als kind ook en heb ook nog 3 andere boeken uit deze serie in mijn bezitting.

De boeken zijn onwijs informatief en lezen leuk en makkelijk weg. Ik vind het heelal een onwijs interessant onderwerp dus toen ik deze tussen de kinderboeken zag besloot ik hem te kopen. Het was onwijs interessant om over de sterren en planeten te lezen en ook de humor vind ik nog steeds onwijs leuk. Dit boek en deze serie blijft een aanrader!

Li este livro há alguns anos.
Estava a iniciar o estudo em Física-Química, por isso foi bastante interessante adquirir conhecimentos úteis "a brincar" e de forma muito humorística.

Aaaaargh!
Nok en af de absolut bedste bøger om solsystemet og universet jeg har læst! (Og jeg har læst en del efterhånden🪐)
Den var let at komme igennem, takket være forfatterens talent for at skrive humoristisk og forståeligt! Illustrationerne er geniale, og fik mig til at grine flere gange- men min humor er også lidt speciel 😂
Vil dog lige påpeje, at bogen er fra slut 90’erne, hvilket betyder, at noget af faktaen er lidt outdated … fx har vi fået det første billede af et sort hul siden da, og fundet ud af, at nogle af planeterne har maaaaaange flere måner.
Men det meste er stadig solid og god information🚀

EXCELLENT!

Một cuốn sách về lĩnh vực mà mình chưa từng nghĩ mình sẽ hứng thú với nó như thế này. Cứ tưởng sẽ là một loạt kiến thức khô khan khó hiểu với ti tỉ thuật ngữ hay tên khoa học khiến não mình không tiếp thu được. Nhưng KHÔNG! huhu

Ngôn ngữ viết vô cùng dễ hiểu và hài hước, có cả vài hình minh hoạ cute hết sức. Lần lượt tác giả cho mình biết đến thiên hà, sông ngân, hành tinh, thiên thạch, vân tinh, hố đen vũ trụ,... thú dzị và dễ nhớ nữa :)) từ những khái niệm phức tạp hoá thành đơn giản, những ví dụ liên tưởng dễ hình dung vô cùng.

Mê lắm lắm luôn, làm ngừi ta tìm tòi về cái này quài :))

For years I have been a massive fan of horrible histories and horrible science for the lighthearted and humorous way they teach kids about history and science. I picked up this book thinking it would be on similar lines only with space as the topic. I was wrong, this has to be the dullest book on space and the galaxy I have ever read in my life. I had to push myself to finish it.

De Nederlandstalige versie (Waanzinnig om te weten - echt gigantisch dat heelal) is, net als alle boeken uit de serie, in begrijpelijke humorvolle direct tot de lezer richtend, taal geschreven. De illustraties versterken dit aspect.
