Daily Guideposts, America's bestselling annual devotional, is a 365-day devotional from the Editors of Guideposts that will help readers grow in their faith every day of the year.
Daily Guideposts 2018 centers on the theme "Unfailing Love" from Psalm 33:22, and is filled with brand-new devotions from 49 writers. Each day readers will enjoy a Scripture verse, a true first-person story told in an informal, conversational style, which shares the ways God speaks to us in the ordinary events of life, and a brief prayer to help focus the reader to apply the day's message. For those who wish for more, "Digging Deeper" provides additional Bible references that relate to the day's reading.
Enjoy favorite writers like Debbie Macomber, Edward Grinnan, Elizabeth Sherrill, Patricia Lorenz, Julia Attaway, Karen Barber, Sabra Ciancanelli, Marion Bond West, Brian Doyle, and Rick Hamlin.
In just five minutes a day, Daily Guideposts helps readers find the spiritual richness in their own lives and welcomes them into a remarkable family of over one million people brought together by a desire to grow every day of the year.
I liked this devotional. It was an easy and quick read.
Favorite Quote: "I'll always be nearby. You remember that. Love doesn't die. How that works exactly, I am not sure and I don't care. But I know it's so."
The yearly Daily Guideposts gook have become a staple of my devotional reading over the last decade or so, thanks to my parents. I have really come to enjoy the diversity of readings that I get from them.
They aren't all good readings, and there are a couple of the writers whose readings I would just as soon skip. Marci Alborghetti and Erika Bentsen come to mind immediately.
There are a number of writers, however, that never fail to inspire me. Among those are Sabra Ciancanelli, Brian Doyle, Julia Attaway, Rick Hamlin, Brock and Pam Kidd, and Carol Kuykendall. I'm sure I missed some.
One might question the fact that I gave this book two more stars than Swindoll's The Finishing Touch. But, you see, I don't really expect great depth from Daily Guideposts. I don't expect it, yet there are many times when it surprises me, almost to the point of tears.
There are always a couple of times a year when the same writer takes a whole week, usually around Easter and Christmas. There are also a few thematic segments that are scattered throughout the year. These are also typically by the same writers. For example, this year we had "Relying on God's Unfailing Love," by Erin MacPherson; "The Beauty of Simplicity," by Julie Garmon; "Confidence in Difficulty," by Julia Attaway.
Julia's writings strike a chord in my heart. She deals with mental issues in all of her children, and we have had some of that in our family. Julie Garmon's segments on simplicity touch me, as simplicity is one of the disciplines that I strive to work out in my life (without much success, thus far).
Carol Kuykendall wrote the Easter segment last year, and it was simply marvelous. So much so that I felt compelled to send her an email telling me how much I appreciated it.
I look forward to beginning Daily Guideposts 2019 today. As usual, I received a copy for Christmas, from my mother.
Personally I did not care for this one as much as Daily Guideposts Devotionals that I have read in the past. As a matter of fact I will be looking for a different devotional for 2018. Usually the Daily Guideposts were non denominational where 2018’s seemed to favor a particular denomination.
Reading Daily Guideposts is a thoughtful way to begin the day. It allows me to take pause and reflect before delving into the day's activities, challenges, and obligations. It also encourages me to practice gratitude each day.
Even though this daily devotional is from two years ago, I still enjoyed reading the uplifting daily contributions. They were calming and humbling and I’m glad I read it this year when life seems so uncertain more often than not.
Love Their Books Every Year. Really Love Reading Up Lifting Devotional For Each Day If The Year by People Going Through The Same Things As Me. Merry Christmas. 🎅🎄❄️
I've been buying and reading this daily devotional each years for many years now. I love the short daily devos. They are uplifting and inspiring :) On to 2019 tomorrow. Happy New Year!
I read this devotional a year late and not daily. It didn't matter. The Scriptures and heartfelt reflections of the contributors were uplifting and encouraging.
I have read the Daily Guideposts since my grandmother used to share them with me, decades ago. This year, the loss of Brian Doyle made me sob. The daily thoughts and lessons are my church family.
