An almost 30 year old man whining about his mother, running away, and getting sent to his room? I barely made it to the sex scene and it was ridiculous. Tried for some more pages but it was trite and boring. I get enough whining in real life

Angelica life started out fast and adventurous but now she is stuck in a boring job working as an art gallery assistant. On her way home one night she is followed by a sad seemingly stray cat. As she reaches down to pat the cat, she gets hit in the head. When she wakes up she is on another planet being watched over by Aerdan. Aerdan explains that he is an adventurer and she is in his family kingdom. In his kingdom, women rule. Angelica is a welcome guest even though all she wants to do is go back to Earth. Everyone expects her to marry Aerdin but neither of them are ready for marriage.
Aerdin is the only son of the queen. His future wife will be the kingdom's next queen. Aerdin is tired of all his royal duties and only wants to travel the world as adventurer. His mother wants him to get married. If he doesn't pick a wife soon, he will be forced to marry the princess of a neighboring kingdom and nobody wants that princess as queen. Aerdin is attracted to Angelica and he might even want to marry her someday but he wants adventure first. Then the neighboring kingdom attacks.
This is a good book with some twists and surprises. I really like the world building the author did. Aerdin started off spoiled and immature but his feelings for Angelica and the situation forced him to mature into a good man. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

This book starts off the Zhekan Mates series of books. Of all of them, this was the strangest because of how Angelica ends up from being in Brooklyn to waking up in the Kingdom of Zheka. But we meet the central characters who will have their own stories in the rest of the series. In this book, I loved the characters of the three royals. Aerdan is the future Commander which equivalent to a king. His two friends are royal cousins and they are inseparable. His mother is the current ruler and a very just and fair ruler.
From this introduction to the characters and their personalities, the rest of the story is an adventure. Women wield the magic in the kingdom, and the people work very hard at their daily work. The kingdom is peaceful because they have an arena for men to let their aggressions loose – and it’s a very violent event where people come and cheer for the most popular fighters.
The story line, once it gets into the real story of what’s going on in Zheka, gains momentum and carries the reader along. The cat may get on your nerves – I love cats, but this one is pure snark as soon as he opens his mouth. I found the story fun as it sort of mixed other fairy tales I grew up with while making a new and different type of kingdom. The books that follow get even better, I think, as we come to know these people and care about the outcome for the kingdom. Give it a try. The series is a good one you really shouldn’t pass up!

I received an Advance Copy of this book and this is my honest review.
The story starts in New York City with a girl who falls and bangs her head and ends up in a place that could be a parallel universe or a different planet I'm not sure. The story never explained what happened.
Angelica ends up stranded and wants to find a way home, although she never seems to push to try to find a way back.
Aerdan is a Prince of Zhekan a place where women rule and he needs to find a woman to marry. While he is out sulking in the forest he comes across Angelica and takes her home to the castle of Zhekan.
Being the first in the series I hope that questions get answered and things are explained further in following books.
There is not a cliffhanger but I felt that the story was not over because of the unanswered questions.

An interesting fairy tale story about Angelica who finds a stray cat in New York, takes it home, trips over it, and wakes up in a forest on another world in a county called Zheka. Of course she is found my the crown prince. It was interesting that they were both in their late 20's and both dissatisfied with their lives. I found it kind of funny to read about what happens as they interact with each other. It was not love at first sight but more "you're cute but...". My honest review is I though it was a cute fun read that made me laugh in a few spots and want to slap them both on the back of their heads and say grow up. Just an enjoyable read. I really liked the addition of the country Glasule at the end that really makes me want to see what happens next.

I enjoy sci-fi romances. This is a fun read about two people magically finding each other and having to navigate some treacherous situations to find their way to love.
He is used to get anyone and anything he wants but his parents feel it is time for him to marry and end all those adventures. Angelica attracts him but he is not sure about forever. She is not that happy with her life either and not sure what to make of this handsome prince. They have great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them fall in love.

I have enjoyed this story.. It is well written and keep you entertained throughout.. though Angelica is from different world she adapts very well to her new world and even though she misses home. She cones to care for the people of Zheka. Aerdan is the next ruler of Zehka but all he wants is to be an explorer, and see new places. When he meets Angelica he thinks she'll be a good distraction but soon finds himself caring for her, more than he taught.

I really liked how this booked started and ended, i just felt in the middle there was a bit missing or skimmed over. I wanted to know more about how Angelica adapted to life and interacted with everyone in Zheka. In saying that though it was a great read with some good twists and tense moments that made you need to know what would happen next and of course a HEA! I hope book 2 caries on with the underlying story as I think this will make it a more addictive series.

I liked it - As always James makes interdimensional traveling an absolute blast!
Fun - definitely adventurous -
Like falling into a world that is completely backwards to planet earth -
Enjoyed our heroine greatly as she always kept her big girl panties on (fugitively ) where as with Aerdan , like his mother , there were many times I wanted to knock some sense into him.
This is a short read and honestly I wanted more - I know greedy little wench - I absolutely loved the cat - not telling ;)

3.5 stars This was a good fantasy/alien romance. Aerdan is the Prince of his country and is struggling with how his life has been planned out so that he marry before he becomes 30. He's very disillusioned by his father's actions and feels his mother is pushing for a marriage he's not ready for. Due to Angelica's sudden appearance in his land Aerdan feels like he has a chance for change and some adventure. There is a HFN but it sounds like there is another book to come. Angelica works in an art gallery in New York until she finds herself transported to another realm. There she meets a prince (Aerdan) of the land she arrives in. Without a way home Angelica must adapt.
The world this story is set in is well developed and so are the characters. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. Book 2 is next on my too read list.

A good story if you want a short read. You have Angelica who all of a sudden travels to Zheka and meets a Aerdan who is a prince but he wants adventure. You have other women wanting to marry him, but he does not want them. Can Zheka and Aerdan make a life together? Will Namaya find Angelica and stop her? Which this will probably be in the next series. I received a arc copy for my honest review.

When I first started reading this book after a couple pages I left it feeling as if it wasn't interning or the book I thought it was. About a week later I started it again and found that I really liked it. It's interesting and intriguing and had a lot to offer as a good book. I'm waiting now to read the next one in the series. I recommend this author and her books to try and add to your library.

I received a advanced reader copy for a honest review. I love this book it was funny and very "real" in the sense that it would almost be like a real life story playing out between everyday people.
The story got me from the beginning and i read it feom start to finish not putting it down. E.A.James has alway writen her story very good but this is one of her best yet. Its a must read.

Their lives both separately are exciting but become boring and mundane. They both need more. With magic they come together. But there are those who don't want them together. They have someone else for him. It is a coming together of two different people and the lives they lead trying to come together. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Got for an honest review.
Loved the story. I thought it was well written. It felt like an Alien fairy tale. Aerdan and Angelica have chemistry and make for an interesting read. The characters help to pull me in more and wanting to know more about them. The story has a nice steady pace to keep the story moving along.

First book in a new series called Zhekan Mates.Aerdan Covendane is the crown prince of Zheka that is bored with his life. Angelica a human finds a what she thinks is a lost cat so she takes it home with her, thus starts her adventure. This is a book that will have you laughing in some parts, a good book to read. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

This was my first book by this author, I enjoyed it the story was good but I was just getting into the story and it was over. A lot shorter than I expected, I was a little disappointed by this it did feel like it ended abruptly to me. I will probably read more by this author but will expect a shorter read next time.

This has the potential to be the start of something interesting, but it's a confusing beginning with a somewhat superficial feel. It was a bit lackluster in total. However, if there is indeed an overarching plot line to be found, we may see things grow better in further books.

It would have been so much better if the characters had been 16 or 17, their level of immaturity would not have been so unbearable. As it is, I just don't understand how anyone would want to marry a 29 year old man who thinks and behaves like a petulant 15 year old. Oh and sleeps with anyone in a skirt then is openly disdainful of all of his conquests. Just a lovely guy overall.

A new and exciting story-line in this first of a series with a unique take on a classic. The characters are likable , there is suspense, danger, adventure and humor in a sweet and steamy Hot read.

Good story. Keeps you in it's grip. Angelica wakes up in a strange world. I feel like this is a new version of "Alice in Wonderland". Kidnapped again, Angelica lets love guide her.

First of a new series, a magical fairy tale. I found it to be okay, but I'm afraid it didn't rock my world. The characters were lacking in my opinion. I voluntarily reviewed this arc.

UNEXPECTED ADVENTURE. This is the first book in the Zhekan Mates series. The book should not be read as a standalone. There is some violence. The sex is hot and steamy so definitely 18+.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The author did a great job of giving readers an overview of what this story is about. The events in this book were over a short timeline and I don't normally like "insta-love" stories. But this story had enough of a twist that I want read the next book to see what happens.

Honestly, this book didn't make sense to me, but I'm not particularly fond of this type of story. Overall, I think the book was written well, and they story was flowing, and then suddenly it just seemed to go into a different direction and was over. I was in the fence the entire time I was reading this story, and after how it ended, I'm Moe confused than ever.
