April, a single mom trying to balance work and private life takes a job in Nevada. As she makes her way down a long and deserted back road, a stranger begins to follow her. He wants her, he craves her and there is no escaping him. With no one to help her or to hear her scream she begins to wonder if she'll make it back to her daughter or will she meet her end at the hands of the Stranger?
Kathy Dinisi is an Amazon Best seller and a Award winning author. She lives in California with her husband and two boys. When she is not writing a horror story or two she is riding her horses or hiking with her family.
Since writing is such a tough market to get into, I try to support Indie writers whenever I can.
Having said that... I was very disappointed with this one. I'm not going to insult this writer, but I need to give this criticism (and I hope you take it as a positive): You need a decent proofreader and editor - there were problems with grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and places where you contradicted yourself. It felt like a rushed first draft. Please remember - in order to be taken serious in any profession, you need to do the basics right.
Omg! This book had me breathless at the edge of my seat. It was crazy, the stranger was terryfying. He knew how to get in her head. Something from a nightmare. I absolutely loved it😍😍
This book scared the you know what out of me! I used to spend lots of time travelling lonesome highways by myself, so I could totally relate to this story!
Ms. Dinisi knows how to write, that's for sure. This story grabbed me from the first & never let go. Just don't read it late at night or you might never get to sleep!
A young single mother is driving on a long road with no signs of life for miles and miles. April is heading home after traveling for her job. She is looking forward to seeing her baby girl’s beautiful face. When April started on her trip home she stopped by a gas station before heading out on this long dreary road all alone.
While at the store she felt as if she was being watched. She looked over her left shoulder then her right but saw nothing but just as she was taking another look she saw someone in a dark hoodie just standing there and staring at her. Once outside she jumped in her car and took off. Out on the road a truck starts following, chasing April.
April is so scared that you could almost smell the fear coming off her in waves. Whenever she slowed down the truck would slow down when she would speed up so would the truck driver. He followed her so close that he was just mer inches from her bumper. April had no idea if she would make it home or if she would make it another day to see the face of her baby girl.
Kathy tells a story in such a way that you feel as if you know the characters as if you are inside their heads knowing what they are thinking and feeling. With each word she writes it is as if you can see whatever it is she is writing as if it is pouring out of the pages into a movie in your head.
Her stories seem so real but I will have to say that when I was reading The Stranger I kept wondering if what was happening to April was just a figment of her imagination. You know like when a person has been out in the desert so long that they start to see mirages. Well what if something similar was happening to April. Like with her traveling on a long hot deserted road all alone for so long with no one else around missing her baby girl so bad and wanting so bad to get home to her baby that her mind starts to play tricks on her and she is not just seeing things but hearing things as well.
Well she has done it again ladies and gentlemen written a brilliantly and horrifying book. With each and every book of Kathy’s I read they just seem to get better and better with each turn of the page. The action never stops and her stories will stay with you long after you have turned the last page of each one.
I highly recommend The Stranger to everyone who loves a good horror story and a great author.
This was a great short horror story. With a single mom hurrying to get home to her son, she's followed by a stranger who just won't go away. He torments her the entire drive. This was a great new twist on a classic horror story.
This book scared the you know what out of me, I am an avid reader, most of it done at night when I go to bed. I had to read this with the lights on. Kathy is an amazing author, she grows by leaps and bounds. I would recommend this story to anyone and everyone,
I received an ARC for an honest review and read it the same day I received it. This is a quick read but still has you on edge of your seat! I was terrified and yet pissed off and felt sad for the outcome. It is a must read if you enjoy reading thrills and scary and unexpected endings then this is for you. Kathy has a wild imagination that I love and enjoy reading! I hope there is more of this story in the future.... maybe a hero, Kathy?

What a ride Kathy Dinisi took me on. I have watched scary movies about going on trips on roads where there is NO ONE around. I have taken trips like that before and have been very leary if I seen a car come out of no where but after reading this book I think I will make sure if we go on a trip I will make sure those lonely roads in the morning. This was a short read but OMG my heart was beating out of my chest. Freaky!!! I think if you are in the mood for a short scary story The Stranger is the one to get❤️
Wow! I literally tore through the pages on this book and finished in one sitting. The pace on this is fast and the story is action packed. I literally couldn't put it down. The author did a clever thing of starting the story with depth about the main character. This made me want a good outcome for her and bought the tension to the surface. My only disappointment was that this could have easily been longer and I would have still been gripped. Recommended for a short and scary read
omg i just loved this book! it really freaked me out in some parts. kinda of a weird ending to the book! i dont think i will go driving out of state by myself any time soon! thanks for giving me a chance to read this short story!
The Stranger is a 3.5 star horror novella that will keep you gripped to your kindle. This story is fast paced and definitely kept me on my toes. When you are on the road to Hell and you can't see the light at the end of a dark tunnel and the devil is chasing you down what will you do to survive?
Being followed on a lonely highway is a hair-raising event. But for the vehicle following you to disappear then show back up is never a good sign. This book is an edge of your seat read that will leave you breathless.
This short story packs a punch. My heart was racing from start to finish. A true tale of horror on the highway. If you've ever been on a road trip before this tale of terror will have you thinking twice about ever traveling by car again. I loved it. I love being scared and this author is a master at instilling that sense of fear into her readers.
