I enjoyed reading this book. I had read some of her story from the NYC Vamps book and so, I finished reading Tessa’s story when it said there was more in this book,so glad I found it, I was so NOt disappointed!!! ~ It has a great storyline, can't wait for more from this author.
Definitely worth it!! Going to read more from this author !!!
The blurb for this book was very promising but that actuality fell far short. Don't read any further if you don't like spoilers. Firstly we open the story to find Tessa lying in bed missing her husband of 15 years and thinking of how much she loved him. Then he comes home and they start going at it like rabbits, but during the act Tessa starts to question Lucas' behaviour. For the first time she accosts him about his changed mien to her and his disappearance every evening to meet his friends. They are both artists and Tessa has been working hard at her paintings in her studio. Not so Lucas. He sculpts but hasn't worked on his latest endeavour for months! I'm not sure why it has taken Tessa so long to ask questions. They have an argument and he stalks off while she goes to work. At the end of the day she goes looking for him and eventually finds him in a farmhouse bedroom with two young girls having sex with piles of money and drug paraphernalia scattered around the room. She tells him the marriage is over and storms off. After this Lucas tries to threaten her, cuts her power and water but she doesn't go to the police! Neither does she get a lawyer!? However, she does call an electrician to fix the power. He, of course, is Atticus, the alpha of the local shifter bear pack. He's no sooner finished the job than Tessa grabs him and the next minute THEY'RE going at it like bunnies. All of a sudden she realises that she stopped loving Lucas a long time ago and now she loves Atticus. There's this enormous community of drug dealers and users near the small town but the police ignore them! Once Tessa's cabin gets totally trashed, Lucas takes her to his 'impenetrable' compound. It’s surrounded by three fences and is guarded (supposedly) although it's never stated outright. Its so impenetrable that Lucas and his henchmen addicts manage to get in easily. Of course, in the last couple of weeks, Tessa still hasn't talked to a lawyer or the police so legally she is still Lucas' wife and, for some reason, he wants her back. When you read all about her deficiencies you have to wonder why. The story really becomes farcical but the only option left to the plot is to kill Lucas off. The premise for the story was OK but it became a vehicle for as many sex scenes as the author could fit in. It then turned out that this was only the first of many books under the title. I read the second novella which glorified MC clubs, criminal behaviour and a total contempt of the law! Absolutely no way that I could recommend this book(s).
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The book starts with Tessa giving a very graphic bl*job to her husband and wondering about his change of behaviour. Considering that later she finds him getting the same treatment from two teens at a meth party surrounded by drugs, that made me feel like throwing up. Nevermind that they were married 15 FREAKING YEARS! You would expect she would have noticed something before now, you don't become the main drug dealer of an organization overnight. And we she finally finds out his betrayal and her husband becomes more threatening what does she does? Calls the police? Gets a divorce? NO! SHE FREAKING SCREWS THE ELECTRICIAN! I don't know why they even got married, she clearly doesn't care about him and is only worried about her looks and if she still is attractive to other men. Really, she doesn't seem very upset about the end of her 15 YEARS-OLD MARRIAGE. Nevermind, I don't care. He is a cheater, she is a cheater, everyone is a cheater!
Bear Mountain Bride is a fast paced, action filled, sexy romance that will capture your attention. The basics that you may need to make a decision on reading this one are in the cover description, so I’m not going over that again.
I’m intrigued by the lore behind these bear shifters who live at the Compound. And I would actually love to learn more about each individual that we ran into in this story. I’ve got Bear Mountain Baby downloaded to begin next, so perhaps I’ll get that wish. Although, the ending confused me a bit on the future of a series so I’m going to leave those thoughts in my head and move on while I wait to see what develops.
Tessa is a strong character. While, yes, she has become afraid of her husband, she rarely backs down or falls apart. What Lucas is putting her through is enough to make the strongest woman cry.
Atticus is Alpha to his clan/tribe (both words are used in this story) and has kept them all well protected and hidden at the Compound. They might keep themselves protected, but they are not afraid to protect the mountain and its residents. That fact is proven by their watching over Tessa, and Atticus coming to her rescue. I liked all of the brothers and would love to know their individual stories at some point.
I enjoyed myself in this world, and should it develop into a series I would definitely follow it. I’d recommend this story for any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader who enjoys action, danger, mystery, oh so sexy times and likable, believable characters.

Tldr: a terrible, no good, very bad waste of time. I suffered through the literally chapter long sex scene of the couple, including a six page long ode to his dick, that we're told in the blurb isn't going to last. I scratched my head and continued past the odd footnotes apparently from an editor or beta reader. I tried to ignore the continuity errors and the lack of clear demarcation between paragraphs and chapters. I spent a little time wondering if thick and ropy weren't oxymorons and even if not why the author chose to apply it to two very physically different characters. I completely ignored the insanity that she knew what meth smelled like and her husband somehow managed to become this mega dealer without her noticing (where was he even getting the meth he was selling?). I only rolled my eyes a little when she somehow managed to both praise her looks and whine about her age in the same paragraph. Ok I rolled my eyes a lot when she went all woe is me my life is over at forty. I scrolled right on past her many instances of tstl. But I just couldn't go any further when she started making out with a dude she literally just met the day after she decides to dissolve get fifteen or sixteen (continuity issue) year marriage. I'm gonna go back and read the third book of the paranormal dating agency series just so this isn't the last thing I read before bed. Dnf. We don't even meet the hero til over a quarter of the way through the book!
Tessa has been married to Lucas for 15 years to only find out that he is not the same man she had married & he's been living a double life as a Kingpin meth dealer & cheating on her. When she catches him in the act of cheating & tells him she is leaving him he gets aggresive. Plus to make matters worse a pack of bears have showed up in her front yard!!! I was truely distgusted with Lucas's chosen lifestyle, morals & his aggresive & violent behaviour towards Tessa. You will find substance abuse, cheating, action, suspense, murder & a second chance at love with steamy sex scenes. I suggest you read this gritty story as it will have you gasping in shock! I have to say that this is my favourite Sky Winters book at the moment as she has taken her writing skills a step further & look forward to her next book! The book is also filled with bonus stories that make it a real fun read & will have you busy for days!
Several things about this book bugged me. Spelling errors, he instead of her. Continuity problems, she went to bed naked but later had on a t-shirt. He was on his back then rolled to his stomach and she touched his stomach. What? He was laying on it. Other things that bothered me. The fact that I finished the book says she is a good story teller, but fix these things and it would be great. Spoilers.
She was married to the man for 15 years and she finds him with two women and learns he is dealing drugs and she is okay. I would be a sobbing mess. She finds out he f@cking drugged out girls and she doesn't go get tested for anything? Then she just moves into another relationship. Maybe time should of lapsed and she had time to deal with everything then I could buy this.
I liked the fast-pace of this book. After being married for 15 years, Tessa should have known something was wrong between her and her husband, Lucas. I think she was being naive about her marriage. Meth takes it's toll and you can only ignore it with your head in the sand. I was proud of her for finding her backbone finally. I did like that the bears gave her the benefit of the doubt about being clueless to Lucas' actions and protected her. There were many twists in the story and I could even understand her hook-up with Atticus. After Lucas' destruction I was very glad how it ended. They deserve what they got. I recommend reading this book. Not only will you get your happy ending, but justice too.
Tessa and Lucas have been married for 15 years. She finds him cheating on her and selling drugs and decides she's had enough.
In steps the bear shifter, Atticus. He is the Alpha of his pack and decides he wants Tessa for his mate. He helps her with her situation and they get together.
This one was okay. I'm not sure how old the author is, but after 15 years of marriage you would know if your husband was cheating on you!! (Yes, I have been married that long.) There was a lot of action, but not enough build up to give it the tension it needed to be exciting. It was very convenient that Atticus was the electrician she called to fix the wires that were cut to the house.
The ending was rushed and everybody has a HEA not just the main characters.
Tessa learns her husband of 15 years is not only cheating on her but is also well and truly established in the drug scene in their town. The story-line and concept of the book is great as well as the characters, it just felt very rushed and at time things happened that don't flow ie not having a clue her husband was cheating when supposedly he hadn't touched his art for months? Tessa goes from finding Lucas cheating to shagging Atticus within 48 hours? in saying that it was still a really good read with some action, romance, suspense as well as a nice HEA.
If you never pick up another book about shape sifting romances besides this one, then you won't be disappointed. This is a Awesome Collection of feel good stories. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my. Lions and tigers and bears, oh sweet!!
Mature readers, strong language and sexual content.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this collection of stories by it's authors for my own pleasure. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.
The " Title" story is only 5% of the book. The next three stories were MC stories not something that I would ever read. I don't like stories about criminals who sell drugs and people. Got as far as scrolling through three similar stories and decided to end it. Why any publisher would put biker stories with shifter stories I don't know. They are two completely different genre's.
So Tessa has a gorgeous, sexy husband and their home is surrounded by huge black bears. Things are SO not what they seem! Husband turns out to be a cheating, drug-dealing dirtbag and the bears are her only protection from him. This is an action packed, steamy love story with a beautifully heartwarming HEA.
Fun, enjoyable shifter story, with a handsome make bear shifter and his pack against a group of meth heads intent to over rule the entire town. Caught up in their evil torment the wife of the leader breaks free and joins The alpha who is also her true mate. Evil got their justice and our bear shifters got their mates. If you want steamy sex it's here!
This was a cute self contained story that also a part of a series. A couple that had grown apart, the husband getting involved in nefarious activities. The bear clan leader being attracted to the wife or soon to be EX. Drug deals and meth lab all play a part in this story. Could have used a proofreader. And I wish there wasn’t those extra stories or so many.
I couldn't finish reading this volume of stories after only finishing three of them. I love reading books about shifters, but this was ridiculous.
Each and every story were ALL the same. Shifter meets human, has unprotected sex and BAM, she's pregnant the following day. She's not mad at the deceit or anything. It got to be so repetitive, I had to put this book down.
It really needs some editing. Chapters ran together. Sentence syntax was often awkward. And the occasional reference note would pop up our of the blue in odd places.
Fast moving story with a few twists. Not a book you can put down. The interaction between Tessa and Atticus, along with the intrigue resulting, keeps your interest through the entire book. Well Done Sky!
I loved how quickly she realized she shouldn't sit and moon over her husband. She took it well when they revealed themselves as shifters. I enjoyed the extra books as well.
The "Bear Mountain Bride" story was good, very descriptive. However, the rest of the stories were basically the same storyline with different names, thus the low rating. I would have preferred continuing the main story!
This was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed the story. I like stories that have the points of views from all the main characters in it. Can't wait to see what is next.
As the first in a series it had an interesting storyline something was a little disjointed but I can’t put my finger on it I bought the whole series I’m hoping the next will bee smoother
Sweet & Spicy: A fast paced read with a great plot, fantastic characters, a little drama and heat. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I liked most of the stories. I am particularly interested in bear shifters. The others were good too. Not as interested in the that were other worldly.
Who ever did the editing of this massive volume did a terrible job. Two many spelling errors, problems with the sentence structures a lot of words omitted.
