Art & Soul, Reloaded: A Yearlong Apprenticeship for Summoning the Muses and Reclaiming Your Bold, Audacious, Creative Side

Rate this book

With her trademark humor, enthusiasm, and no-nonsense guidance, #1 New York Times best-selling author of E-Squared Pam Grout invites you on a yearlong “apprenticeship” to recognize and unleash your innate creativity.

Making art does not necessarily mean painting a gallery-worthy still life or belting out a Grammy-winning song. It simply means finding a way to give your inner muse a voice in this world. Sure, there’s drawing, dancing, singing, and writing. But there’s also art to be made from creating your own pair of angel wings or inventing a new toy or curating your own at-home film festival.

Each week features a project of self-examination, an inspirational message, a real-world example of a celebrity who has addressed similar obstacles, and three zany activities to awaken your infinite creativity.

It’s time to declare the beat of your own drum.

Fascinating little book. Working in the art world Ms being a writer, this book shed light on some of the stumbling blocks artists face. Quick read with some fun ideas!

It took me almost a year to read this book and that is because I took a chapter at a time for inspiration. Lots here and I enjoyed her writing and style. Great for someone needing a kick in the pants, a new perspective about creativity, or simply ideas for jumpstarting yourself.

Trust me!

Absolutely brilliant!
If you are a writer, a poet, a cake baker, a musician - an artist of ANY kind, this is the Bible to run to every time you feel like your work is a pile of poo/who are you to think you're the next J.K. Rowling or Stephen King, Picasso or Madonna?
It's also piled high with inspirational quotes and reminders that you are good enough, damn it!
Whether you do the weekly creativity tasks or not (I was naughty and didn't sorry, Pam! - but just read it through in one go), you cannot fail to be moved by this book. It's such a game changer for doubting your talent and abilities

I was hoping for a book that was deeply profound. Instead I found a book that was shallow and full of the usual new age gibberish. There are much better books out there on creativity. Anything not published by Hay House will be a good place to start. Very disappointed with this book.

Bringing More Joy

What a fun book. The muse whispers and we actually hear her and say yes. We do this with others and are all lifted. We feel heard, our deepest needs fulfilled. Thank you Pam.

I think this book is great but definitely not what I was looking for. I think I want something similar but more writing focused. I love the idea of weekly little pages and things to do, but I just didn't quite jive with this book. Maybe sometime in the future.

A light hearted look at how to kick start your creativity and get out of your own way. Worth reading even if you have no intention of doing the exercises.

Art & Soul

Enjoyable (fun ideas) read, a little too flippant for me.
I am still a Cameron fan. This is not a keeper.

As the book cover proclaims, this is a book to help you summon the muses and reclaim "... your bold, audacious, creative side." I have read the text, now it's time to try the "zumba for the soul" ideas.

"The mighty river of God flows through your soul, the infinite power of the universe pulses in your heart."

"The very act of creating is an act of power, an act of hope. .... we, as humans, as co-creators with the universe, have immense power to change things."

I'm not a big creative - and in theory this should be a year long read - which may make it really good for some. For me it was just ok. But I like Pam Grout's writing and thinking a lot, and so wanted to see what it was all about.

This book did not resonate with me. Too bold and extroverted for my tastes. I did appreciate all the stories of successful artists who doubted themselves.
