Heather is a massage therapist at an upscale day spa. Her life follows the rigid routine of work then home to take care of her sick mother. After a series of things go wrong in her life, Heather no longer expects anything good to happen to her. Heather decides to accept her life as is and numbly walks through her day to day.
When Jonathan enters her life, Heather doesn't notice his disarming good looks and charming personality, at first. When she finally does notice him, her not so subtle gesture may be way off track from what Jonathan wants and expects of her.
Jonathan becomes fascinated with this too thin, shut down girl. He quickly learns there is more to Heather's story than she revealed, and loving her may prove more than he or she can handle. But Jonathan doesn't give up on her. He fell in love fast but he has to move slowly as to not scare Heather away.
All Jonathan wants to do is love and take care of her but Heather knows that can't happen until she figures out how to live a life beyond her past.
3.5-4 stars. I liked the overall premise of this story - Heather, who is too busy and buried in her life issues, to take notice of other men because she simply does not have the time or interest. Then comes Jonathan, a new client, and he is very keen to get to know for because she has no pretenses and shows no immediate desire. It's a little slow burn because Jonathan has to work hard to push through her walls and to learn about Heather on a more personal level when she gives so little back in return. Until Heather does start to notice Jonathan and things take off from there. I liked that build up between them and Jonathan is always on his toes with trying to figure out the next move without overstepping, but he also catered to Heather in a caring way and she's never had support from anyone before.
I'm sorry, this book was so slow so boring, I just could not make myself to move on. Don't bother with this book, go count grass, that's probably more fun then reading this story. Shirley
I really liked this book. Based on the cover I thought it would be a different kind of read but was happy with the outcome either way. I wished it was longer.
