Xander's a normal teenager, who thinks about three things on repeat -- geology, basketball, and girls. Luckily, Xander is bored with normal and finds himself in the wrong place at the right time; seeing something civilians aren't supposed to. And soon, his biggest dilemma of whether he should go to a party with a girl he regrets sleeping with, turns into whether he should join a top-secret organisation that collect mysterious orbs.
XANDER: An Incandescent Short Story accompanies RAY OF LIGHT, the first book in The Incandescent Series written by Elle Scott. Taking place prior to the events of RAY OF LIGHT, Xander's story shows us how he came to work at Palladium and what fears he carried in with him.

Xander is the prequel to the Incandescent Series. It's a very short story that introduces the premise of the story along with some important characters (at least that's what I think - I have not read Ray of Light yet). I was well written and concise; however, a lot of characters were introduced in such a short amount of time it was a bit hard to keep track. Other than that, I cannot wait to read on to the series. In addition, I liked how it included a preview to Ray of Light with a clear indication of who's point of view we are reading (had to include that 😂- one of the books I previously read did not include indications that the pov changed and it got confusing).
A short story that explains how one of the main characters in the book sees something he shouldn’t have seen and ends up finding what he wants to do. Before that he was just drifting aimlessly along not interested in anything or anyone.
I enjoyed it and at the end of the story it launches into book 1 of the Ray of Light series which picks up where Xander left off.
If you like an adventure story with a little bit of alien orbs added to the mix I believe you Have found what you’re looking for in this story-check it out.
This is a great novella to introduce you to the basic premise of the continuing series by Elle Scott, so dont expect any wrapups in the story with this one. That said, it is well written and kept my interest all the way through. I would recommend this to anyone who likes adventure, especially YA adventure stories.
So far I like the characters, the story is different, and I like the writing style.
Xander hasn't graduated high school yet, but he's in the right place at the right time, and sees something he's not supposed to see. It's looking like an adventure is about to begin! I am looking forward to the next book.
Short story that is a pleasant lead-up to what could be a fun series. I'll admit that I read it to fill an X title slot for a challenge, but as a result I do plan to check out the series!
I have been a fan of Elle Scott's work for a couple of years now. It was by chance that I found her and her work. Her name was on a list of authors in the sci-fi , fantasy, and dystopian genres. Her name and the summary of Ray of Light peaked my interest. Her stories and style have opened my eyes to a world of writing that I never knew. Her style and stories have inspired my own writing. Cancer is the prequel to Ray of Light which is part of the Incandescent Series. I'm this short story Ms.Scott introduces us to how ,andre came to be on the alpha team. What intirgued me most about this story-finding out who Xander was before joining Alpha Team and how he met Nora.
This short story is the tale of Xander's entry into the Pallidium Corporation. It provides great background on one of the big characters in The Incandescent series and a little insight into the events that lead up to the events in the first book. A great addition to the storyline. I would recommend reading this story after the first book (Ray of Light). I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book for review.
This novella is definitely a must read. After reading Ray of Light, you are definitely going to wonder what went on BEFORE it all started. How was this team formed? More specifically, what was going on in Xander's mind, why did he join? This novella gives you a personal perspective on Xander. The hows, whys, and all the questions you might have about him. He's got a lot more layers to him than you realize!
