FROM POPULAR ROMANCE AUTHOR KAYCE LASSITER

Book one in The Marilyn Club series

The Munsters had their niece, Marilyn. Buzzard’s Breath has Emily Redfeather. Being the only ‘normal’ one in the bunch ain’t for the faint of heart.

Emily Redfeather, Brittney Redfeather and Jo Parker are buried under the chaos in Buzzard’s Breath, Arizona. Between Emily getting stuck running a no-kill animal shelter, Jo’s great-aunt accidentally killing Jo’s mother and Brittney’s father blowing up the farm truck while trying to kill gophers with dynamite, the girls have their hands full sorting out the family crazies. Sanity is so tough to come by in today’s dysfunctional version of the Munster family that the girls band together to form their private sanctuary in the midst of the chaos—the Marilyn Club.

After years of dancing around their feelings for each other, Hawk and Emily struggle to find a way through the obstacles preventing them from pursuing a relationship. But the dangers of Hawk’s career stand in their way and anyone he gets close to could end up dead. As they work to solve a murder that Jo Parker’s Aunt Maddie is up to her neck in, Hawk and Emily realize they must either find a solution to their relationship challenges or put their feelings behind them and move on.

Kayce Lassiter

Kayce is country through and through, and she writes snarky contemporary romance in a country setting—what she calls "Chick Lit in Cowgirl Boots," and she likes to throw in some magic now and then just for fun. Now she is adding nonfiction works to her catalogue, which includes dysfunctional family stories—something she knows a heck of a lot about.

Kayce is an author, a Butterscotch Martini Girl, and a consummate smart-alec, which shows in her humorous, heart-tugging stories about everyday people complete with broken hearts and all the flaws that come with being human. Some of her characters will make you laugh, others will touch your heart, but they will all take you to a world where dreams are possible, hearts can be mended, and people survive through the power of love.

A second-generation native Arizonan, Kayce was born to deaf parents and grew up on a dairy farm. Living on a farm as a kid can be fun, but it can be lonely, too. So she learned to dream, to imagine, to pretend—something she's never grown out of. Kayce still lives in rural Arizona with her horse and dogs, including a nut-job named Riley whose claim to fame is having eaten an entire rattan chair in one afternoon.

So let Kayce introduce you to her world of "Chick Lit in Cowgirl Boots" and seriously dysfunctional families. After all, what would a good story be without a little magic, or a crazy or two? That's what makes the world go round—right?

The title of this story is so true, but could also be worst luck ever. I felt so bad for Em at first but once you get into the story you realize that is just how her family (and town) is. I really enjoyed reading this story and couldn’t put the book down. This story is the kind that you feel so bad for the characters but at the same time you have to laugh and the situation. There were two stories going on at the same time, Emily and Hawk then the ‘murder’.

The one bad thing to me is Emily and Hawks story fells unfinished. It seemed like their story took place in the beginning and the ending but fell short in the middle but that is okay because the comedy involved in the middle is so funny you don’t realize that you are missing the love story.

I love the characters. Emily sounds like my cousin. Although I really can't imagine my cousin jumping up in to my uncle's arms. Norman could definitely be my uncle. Beau and Brittany seem like family, also.
I don't think this story is finished and I look forward to hearing from these characters again.
