The first time I met her I wanted to slap her.
The second time, I knew I had to have her.
As for the third time, a gentleman doesn’t tell.
So I guess it’s a good thing I’m no gentleman… right?

Let’s get this out of the way, right off the bat: I love women.

I love the way they look. The way they smell. The way they feel. Especially the way they feel. And I’ve pretty much made it my mission to give each and every woman who shares my bed the ride of her life.

Then I met her. Bitchy as hell and completely uninterested in me. And damned if I didn’t want her. Crave her. I told myself I only wanted to tame her. That it was all about the challenge.

I never expected to break through that ice queen exterior and find the softness underneath. Never expected how wild she’d be between the sheets or the way she’d cry my name with such sincere intensity when I totally rocked her world.

Most of all, I never expected to fall for her.

But I did.

And the question is, now that I know I want her, how the hell do I go about keeping her?

When I saw this cover and title, I knew I need to read this book.
It was a promise of a strong b*tchy heroine, wasn't it?

Well, she was NOT that strong as I hoped, and she was definitely not a b*tch.

What is a b*tch? Very often the romance shows me strong-willed women who have self-esteem and don't throw themselves at men's feet and tells me they are b*tchy. Why? I find it better than a whiny horny female with thin to none backbone.

This one was neither weak, but unfortunately nor strong.

But she was definitely above the average level of desperate woman.

He was a joke. Sorry, at my age I don't find it sexy when a man f*cks around (especially using a hook-up app), and I'm not fond of men who love their mirror reflection. Ridiculous male protagonist. IMO.

Nevertheless I admire author's attempt to write a different heroine!

I'm not really sure what to say. I loved it, but I didn't love-love many things about it too.
The story was cute, sexy, funny... but it was way too short. There was potential for soo much more. And there were so many people in there. There's room for 4 more love stories. I now know that Connor - the best friend and partner - will be the hero of the next book, but still, it would've been nice knowing that this was going to be series before going in. I'm weird with things like that.

I loved the location. Austin. And we do wander around town, talk about city things. But I wanted more. More of everything. It was just way too short. There should've been more excitement. A bit suspense too - the guys run a security company and are tough ex soldiers. Once running from the paparazzi is not exciting enough for a book like this!

And now about the cover and blurb and title. While cute and sexy and colorful.... the book is not like that cover. First of all the shoe on his chest looks so much more like a real dominant bitchy woman - and Jez is not that at all. That's why the bitchy part in the blurb bothered me a bit as well. I don't like bitchy women. Or ones that come across as way too dominant or strong or I-DON'T-NEED-A-MAN-ish. And Jez is not like that. And the title is weird too. Bitch slap. Why? What does that mean? Nobody is slapping and nobody is a bitch. It's a bit off-turning for future readers in my opinion. The bitch slap title and the shoe would've stopped me from reading if it wouldn't have been a J. Kenner book!
The pink thing is okay - letting us think it's a sweet and quick romance. That's true. ☺

OK - lots of negatives but still 4.5 stars because it's J. Kenner and Damien Stark was mentioned! ☺
And I will definitely read the next book. I just wanted this one to be more somehow ....
OR... an idea that jumped into my mind. Why couldn't Jez have been a normal business woman in Austin looking for security for her company or boss or something. The whole thing with her sister was too much. It wasn't touched on enough in the book because it was not the main part of the book, but it deserved to be. Del deserves to have her own story. Which she might be getting - it doesn't say anywhere how this series will go on. But I think without Del in it the story would've made much more sense ... it wouldn't have been so full of stuff that was unnecessary for Jez and Pierce. ANYWAY - I loved Bitch Slap but I would've loved it more with some changes ;)

Pierce likes women. It’s just something that he can’t deny. So on yet another date created by an app, he finds himself in front of the best pair of legs he has ever seen. Only to then find out that she was not the woman he was supposed to meet with, but someone looking to hire his security services. However, he can’t forget her or ignore the fact that she might actually be in danger. So he follows her, promising himself that he just wants her for a night and then it will be all about business. But he knows pretty well that one night with her will never be enough.

Bitch Slap by J. Kenner is a fast paced lust at first sight kind of romance that soon transitions to the forever kind. Kenner treats readers to a story with likable sassy characters whose vibrant personalities were felt throughout the book. Low on angst and drama made this book a fun sweet read.

photo 7ee244b659e7e70af9189d62221810_zpsi3bxtqt3.gif The way they feel. The way they smell. I get off on making a woman feel good. On making her shatter in my arms and then beg for more. Like them, yes. But I don’t trust them. And I’m not getting fucked over again. Not like that, anyway.”

Pierce is not looking for love especially after the woman he loved told him that she was not in love with him right before they were gonna say I do. So you can understand why he has trust issues with women hence the reason why he became a one night kind of guy. He’s all about the hookup and being casual. So when he meets Jez, everything changes. This woman turned his world upside down as she was different from his other conquest. She stood up to him and had the personality to boot. So when Pierce inserts himself into Jez and her sister’s life as his company was hired for bodyguard duties, fireworks of sexual tension between them begins to boil over. Soon Pierce and Jez find themselves tangled in the sheets. But what happens when Jez’s time in Austin is coming to a close? Will she be able to leave Pierce or follow her heart?

#BitchSlap (1)

So if you are looking for a bodyguard type-esque romance then this book might be for you. It was fun, sexy, short, and low on angst. Get ready to discover why I am such a big fan of J.Kenner.

I read this book back when it was called Bitch Slap - and now I've done a little re-read because I wanted to be ready for book #2 - which is coming soon!
BUT you can totally read these as standalones. Those 3 guys run a security company together - it's not always the same couple!

I liked it better this 2nd time. Maybe because of my mood or maybe because things were changed and edited and added. It was a cute, sexy, funny romance with a little bit of excitement and some great Austin touristy moments. I really liked it!

Main Character Description: Pierce Blackwell, relationship jaded, former military and security expert. Jezebel Stuart, relationship jaded, sister and manager to actress Delilah Stuart.

Pierce mistakenly takes Jez as his one night stand he arranged from the 2Nite App. Jez mistakenly takes Pierce as the new head security guy for her actress sister Delilah. Pierce pieces the puzzle together after Jez storms out of the restaurant, only to save the day when Delilah's hotel location gets compromised.

This Novella is enjoyable read but since it is on the shorter side, you don't get too much meat into the relationship. These two meet, display instant attraction only to have to put it on hold when Jez ends up hiring Pierce's security firm to protect her sister. They struggle to contain that attraction until they no longer can.

With so many celebrity/bodyguard romances out there, I like that the author switched it up and made the celebrity a side character. That she made the sister who ultimately is living in her sisters world be the one to find love with the bodyguard.

If you are looking for a quick read that is pretty low angst, a sexy beginning story to a very likable couple, then this is a good choice.

Pierce was very hot and very sexy, and oh so perfect for Jezebel. I loved how she would fire him every night, so that could have a lot of hot sex. Then she would hire him back in the morning. Her sister, Delilah, was no slouch even though she was just an new adult. Nice epilogue

Be prepared to fall quickly into the crazy life of Pierce and Jez! From their near disaster meet-cute to their business dealings through to their hot and sexy times, I couldn’t put it down because I had to see where things went with Pierce and Jez.

Pierce is a bit out of his league . . . he’s a player not a stay-er. And Jez is so busy putting everyone else ahead of her own needs, she has no idea who she is at this point or what she wants from life. I loved seeing Pierce and Jez get closer and allow their walls to fall a bit.

Bitch Slap is the perfect balance of funny, sexy, snarky, and heartwarming. I had a blast reading Bitch Slap. It was JUST what I needed to break a bit of a book funk. ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

This was mediocre. There was nothing that really stood out about the characters or the story.

This is my opinion. You may love this book. I never really took the heroine as a bitch. She was very protective of her sister. Her sister is the one that got on my nerves. I did not care for her or her choices. I felt no sympathy for her. I get that the heroine wanted to protect her sister, but I think that part of the story could have been written differently. The hero was the typical manwhore who claims he will never do a relationship and I love those type of heroes. However, him going on dating apps to get some was a bit much.

I did not hate or love it. It was a bit bland and predictable. I expect more from author J. Kenner.
There was a lot of skimming.

I love that it was written in a male POV!

Lovely Little Liar is a novella that was originally released as Bitch Slap. This novella just had some added tidbits and is definitely more fleshed out.

I had read Bitch Slap previously, but chose to read this due to the promise of more added in. I was pleasantly surprised with how well Kenner fleshed the details out and added the perfect amount of new information to this novella the more entertaining read.

This novella is told completely from Pierece's POV. As much as I enjoyed this book and felt like he was a strong alpha male, you could definitely tell there is a feminine touch to his POV - he sometimes came across too soft or emotional where I don't think an alpha male would. But it doesn't hurt the story too much.

I enjoyed reading how this all played out and with the added editions, this story flowed much better and felt more complete. I felt a better connection between the two characters, even with the extremely short timeframe. I did struggle to see the difference between lust and love, Kenner pulls off the heat and electricity with ease.

Overall, it's a quick and hot read - definitely one to fulfill fantasies of many.

Title: Bitch Slap
Author: J Kenner

4 unexpected stars

If there's one thing that i can count on from J Kenner, it's to be able to revisit the characters that i've fallen in love with in the previous series of hers. Just when you think that it's the last time that you'll hear from any of the Stark and Stark International characters, she brings them back in such as way that you can only sigh in contentment, knowing that you've gotten a little more information on what's happened to them since the last time you've read about them. Now we're introduced to new characters with different lifestyles: Pierce is a veteran, an ex marine, who has opened his own private security with friends and Jezebel is her sister's manager, Delilah, a young adult who has her private life splattered all over social media's since she's become the new 'it' actress. They meet on an accidental 'date' both there for different reasons and completely misunderstanding one another when it came to their conversation ~~ which did make me laugh a little.

4 breath taking dreams

So here's where it gets a bit 'iffy' for me. Now, Pierce is supposed to be a reformed man, never wanting to date another woman, the kind of man that is more than happy to spend the night with them and leave them the next morning, never to see them again. He thrives on that. He loves that lifestyle after having been hurt by his last long term relationship. For her, Jezebel was deeply burned by her last relationship, deciding that the b--tch road is the only way to come out of it unscathed... so why is it that within a few minutes - alright, hours, from meeting one another, all of their habits go out the window? All of sudden, i didn't really understand why they were as they were described as - if that makes sense. That's not to say that it wasn't a good story, because let's face it, J Kenner does know how to weave an interesting one, but the characters just didn't hit that special spot for me, the one that her previous characters have, no matter if i loved the series or not. Now i'm just waiting to find out how this book is going to tie in with this author's other books and whether or not they'll be making a repeat appearance in the future, because no matter what, Jez and Pierce were quite interesting in the end.

Lets start off by saying that Ms. Kenner is one of my favorite Erotica authors as one of my favorite series is The Stark International Trilogy is one of my top favorite series and Bitch Slap was yet another winner in my book.

I loved the story from beginning to end as well as its characters. Omg from the very first pages this author had me already laughing.I love when that happens.

Pierce Blackwell is swoon worthy and an arrogant prick.Tall dark handsome with a sense of humor just adds to his sexiness. Jez was beautiful sexy and smart and had a kind heart and very was protective of the ones she loves.

I always pick a favorite character in a story and although it was hard Jez one out.I loved everything about her character. One of the things that drew me to her is that you sensed that she was unhappy and very sad.Although she loves her sister very much she had the life of the glitz and glamor and all the attention that comes from being a star that her sister is its not the life for her. As her manager she is in the thick of it and hates all that comes with it and yet her sister thrives on it. Jez really is more of a private person and prefers a more quiet life.I really loved the changes that we saw in Jez for the first time she was doing and taking something for herself.I saw the shell she built around her slowly dissolve away and a buttery fly emerge as they say.She became more confident in a out of the bedroom and willing to take some risks.

I have to mention Pierce as he surprise me as well.I love when we see the mighty fall.We saw a mere slip of a women who had no designs on him bring him to his knees.Pierce was living the life a a playboy ,his life was a string of one night stands. He was the no commitment kind of guy who didn't do relationship everything about him was about finding a willing women for the night an moving on.Wow! I have to say that Pierce evolved and grew up throughout this story. He found the one women to get under his skin that he could not just hit it an miss it so they say.We saw him make mistakes along they way as long a groveling but for once in his life he was willing to do whatever it took to keep the one person who was worth keeping.I loved all the things he was willing to do they were so out of character for him yet he sucked it up and soldiered on.

This couple has some major chemistry going on that led to a lot of hot sex that was so intense that they could not get enough of one another. They made a really cute couple.

My favorite scene of the story had to be Jez and Pierce's first meeting. Omg I laughed so hard .I couldn't wait for it to dawn on him that Jez was not who he thought she was. From this moment on I new I was going to love this story and the surprises it brought and I was so right I loved it from beginning to end.

I love when your able to connect with the characters you read about and I was able to do that with this couple and I love when that happens as I root for a happy ending for the couple involved.

Well done another story that goes into the keeper pile.A recommended read to all.

I am not into giving low ratings for a book written by J. Kenner, but I had my issues with this one. The opening line gave me some food for thought. Pierce is the stereotypical male you will read in a romance novel these days. He is as cliched as he can go. The lack of originality not only in this book, but also in most of the recent romance publications is tiring. The first thing I read in this book is this, "I don’t believe in relationships, but I do believe in fucking". Does that sound familiar to you? Maybe read one a book with this type of hero within 30 days of today? I was liking the book to an extent, but after a while I saw how many cliches it had and that took away some of the magic of this book. The hero doesn't want commitment because he was hurt before. I have heard that 100 more times. Why couldn't Pierce be the kind of person who even though was hurt before, was to give love a second chance without ruining things first? Pierce refuses to say anything that might lead him to a relationship.

I was happy with the male point of view. I wanted to see the author writing a book with a dual or only male point of view and I got my wish. Jez was a more original character and I liked her. She might have been a little over protective, but you can't not like her. If the author writes another book with these characters I hope we will get the chance to see her. The secondary characters were very interesting and I wouldn't mind reading their books. The tone of the book the one the readers are familiar with and I believe the average reader will enjoy the book.

So i'm a huge fan of all things tied to J Kenner since we have some of the best series by her so i was excited to get into this standalone.  It's an interesting story - honestly, i think that it felt VERY VERY different from all that we've read by J Kenner, and i wondered at times if it was actually written by her.  It was only the tie back to Jamie and her boyfriend Hunter to help out with some security things, along with teasing back to Stark through needing help getting into a hotel that made them all blend together.

So what we have here is a story of a guy, Pierce, who's had his heart broken in the past, was military as well, so we know that he's got more walls than anyone.  He's looking for 'something' but not sure what it is, and he knows that he only wants 'one night' with anyone so that he's not able to grow bonds.

Then there's Jez - the leading lady of this saga, the older sister of a hollywood starlet who's on the bad end of a scandal, and the sister just wants to find a way to protect her sister and keep things from getting any worse.

Its through a wrong encounter that we see these two cross paths, thinking that each is someone else and it's clearly all for the best as we see.

So, Pierce and Jez show us that they have interesting chemistry - both for the fact that they are strong willed and the fact that they're looking for something without knowing that they are looking for it.  meaning they both clearly need a release as they're high strung and they both need to find comfort in someone and trust in someone, so it's nice that they are able to avoid admitting it here and just do it. for now.

With this book, it's sweet-  and quite expected but i don't know - there's something about it that didn't feel right with me.  We usually have good highs and lows when we get stories from Ms Kenner and that's not really the case here.  there were maybe a few seconds of grief sure, but nothing that was uber climactic and i feel like it's a miss on her part.  The ending though was nice since it wasn't the expected ending for some of the characters - so that was played nicely.

so all in all, a decent novella, and i think that as a tied me over to something out from the bigger series about nikki and damien,

I always love a book that gets me hooked from the beginning and this one was a shocker. I was hooked!

Pierce is a commitment phobe and prefers one night stands to relationships. Once burned and all that.

Jez is her sister's keeper and wound tight

They meet because of a dating app, although not exactly the best one since PB (Pierce) is meeting J.

Pierce owns a security firm with some friends and prefers things kept light so when he meets his hookup and she acts completely different than how they've been communicating it should throw up a red flag.

This is comical and sweet and sexy. Another hit from Julie.

DNF @ 60%! The writing is good. The story is ok. Sort of unique. I just got a bit bored at this point, and don't want to finish. Up until this point though it was a pretty good read. It grabbed me, it just didn't keep me!

This would be good for anyone who likes that instaATTRACTION/LUST that quickly moves into the "I can't live without you," when they really don't spend any time getting to know each other. Meh.

Also. I never saw where the heroine was a, "bitch." She said some quick things, but I mean... it's not like they were really bitchy. They were warranted in most of the situations. Maybe I'm just bitchy. Lmao.

Told completely in male POV by our main character, alpha, and security specialist Pierce Blackwell. What starts off as a case of mistaken identity in a bar becomes a job, which becomes something else entirely. Jezebel "Jez" Stuart rightfully holds everyone at arm's length. However, something that is unable to do with Pierce, especially since she needs his help to keep her sister safe.

I would consider this a bit of a forbidden romance of a snobbish client and a womanizer security specialist. This becomes a dilemma on many front as Pierce is not someone who goes back for seconds (which he does) and crosses lines at work (which he does again as well... multiple times if you know what I mean).

This is a sweet, standalone novel which was previously published under the name Bitch SlapI did not read the previous version but I am very happy to continue on the series nonetheless. The story moves at a quick pace but it has time to introduce some secondary characters whose story I really want to dive it.

Romance books written in the guy’s first person POV are few and far between, and Julie Kenner definitely nailed it! She has woven an entertaining story in a way that is light and fun. This fast-paced story starts with a bang and a misunderstanding.

Pierce Blackwell has recently launched a security business with a few friends. Jez Stuart manages her younger sister’s acting career and needs to hire a security detail. The context of their first encounter gives rise to a hilarious confusion. Pierce and Jez are engaging characters, hiding their vulnerabilities behind a self-assured attitude. I definitely rooted for them and read their story in one sitting.

This book is the first in a new series. It is lighter compared to the books in the Stark universe. Julie Kenner’s writing is flawless and I loved the great cast of new and secondary characters. This new series definitely has potential, I can’t wait for more. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and sexy story, then Bitch Slap is a good choice!

I'm so used to opening up a Stark or Stark-related series book by J. Kenner and basking in the glow of characters so close to me that I was slightly nervous and EXTREMELY EXCITED to meet something new by this beloved author. Bitch Slap INTRIGUED ME with its smoldering cover but HAD ME at the synopsis.

The first time I met her I wanted to slap her. The second time, I knew I had to have her. As for the third time, a gentleman doesn't tell.

SOLD!!! Sign me up!!! I'm so IN!!! ALL IN!!! Hook. Line. Sinker. Sunk...I was already SUNK before the story began.

Oh Bitch Slap! This story slapped itself on me so hard and fast. This is the start of a new series, not Stark, but just as SENSATIONAL. I DEVOURED Bitch Slapin one sitting and NEED MORE!!! Sweet meets sinfully sexy in a fresh, fun, and fast-paced romance that is SEDUCTION IN WORDS. Bitch Slap was instantly my GUILTY PLEASURE.

The all-male POV in Pierce's voice is HEAVENLY where every word sparks to life. Pierce is ex-military and an ALL-ALPHA who is incredibly INTENSE and MELT-WORTHY!!! Sex on a stick and a man who knows how to please a woman.

I get off on making a woman feel good. On making her shatter in my arms and then beg for more.

Oh. My. HOT!!!

A chance encounter with a beautiful woman is spicy, a lethal lust and loathe combo.

The first encounter was laced with hate.

"Are you always this..."

I trail off, thinking better of saying what I was thinking.

Bitchy.

The second encounter and more are full of stream.

She tastes like wine and sin, and I want to get drunk on both.

These words, I drank them like wine, so incredibly good. Pierce is fire and Jez is ice, a combustible combination that MELTS...perfection together!!!

"I didn't expect it," she says.

"What?"

She looks up, and I see tears in her eyes.

"You."

A rousing roller coaster of a romance, Bitch Slap is UNSTOPPABLE!!! I was HOOKED on every word, as J. Kenner's Bitch Slap is a HEEDY and HEART-STOPPING HIT! I LOVED this fire-hot story full of feels. I did not want this steamy quickie to be over so soon. Now, I have a sudden craving for peanut butter and jelly. ❤️

💋💋💋💋💋 heart-stopping kisses

Another J Kenner MUST-CLICK HIT!!!

Jez manages her teen sister’s (Delilah) career as an up and coming actress. So when Delilah finds herself embroiled in a major scandal involving her boyfriend and her infidelity, Jez needs to step in and stop the damage, both professionally and for Delilah’s safety. So when the two are in Austin shooting Delilah’s latest film, Jez needs to employ some private security, and fast. Enter Pierce, who happens to be in the right place at the right time; which, funny enough, comes on the heels of a case of mistaken identity. Pierce, who co-owns a private security company and vows to keep both Delilah and Jez safe.

But soon the attraction between Jez and Pierce becomes too much to take, they find themselves in a whirlwind romance, that has an expiration date. Pierce has sworn off relationships, but feels different about Delilah, so do they have what it takes to actually pursue a relationship? And a long distance one at best? Jez is devoted to Delilah, taking care of her day to day activities, is she willing to give up control in order to find her own happiness?

I kind of waited the entire book for the action to start but alas, nothing. Sure there was a sizzling tension between Jez and Pierce, but I just really had trouble connecting to either of the characters and the storyline was lackluster compared to other titles I have read by the author. I’m not sure if this is because the entire book is told in the first person from Pierce’s point of view or I just didn’t like the severe instalove factor of the book, it just wasn’t my cuppa. It is a quick read and fans of contemporary romance will appreciate this one, it just isn’t one I would read again

I received an advance copy of this title for review purposes.

3.75 stars--

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 12, 2018

She’s not the woman I thought … but dammit, she’s the woman I want.

Let’s get this out of the way, right off the bat: I love women.

I love the way they look. The way they smell. The way they feel. Especially the way they feel. And I’ve pretty much made it my mission to give each and every woman who shares my bed the ride of her life.

Then I met her. All business and completely uninterested in me. And damned if I didn’t want her. Crave her. I told myself I only wanted to tame her. That it was all about the challenge.

I never expected to break through her shell and find the softness underneath. Never expected how wild she’d be between the sheets or the way she’d cry my name with such sincere intensity when I totally rocked her world.
Most of all, I never expected to fall for her.

But I did.

And the question is, now that I know I want her, how the hell do I go about keeping her?

Lovely Little Liar was originally published as Bitch Slap. New content, such as expanded scenes, has been added to this book. (less)

•••••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- LOVELY LITTLE LIAR is the first instalment and novella in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult, Blackwell-Lyon erotic romance series. This is security specialist Pierce Blackwell, and PA Jezebel Stuart’s story line. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s best selling Stark, and Man of the Month series.

NOTE: LOVELY LITLE LIAR was first published as Bitch Slap in June 2017. Lovely Little Liar contains expanded content not found in the original release.

Told from first person point of view (Pierce Blackwell) LOVELY LITTLE LIAR follows the building relationship between security specialist Pierce Blackwell, and Jezebel Stuart. Thinking he was meeting his one-night stand, Pierce Blackwell, comes face to face with a woman who believes he is someone else. Enter Jezebel Stuart, the sister and manager of up and coming young but vilified actress Delilah Stuart, and the woman with whom Pierce will fall in love.

We are introduced to Jezebel’s sister, Delilah Stuart; Pierce’s sister Kerrie Blackwell, as well as Pierce’s business partners Cayden and Connor. There may be something developing between Kerrie and Connor. Cayden and Connor’s stories are next in Pretty Little Player, and Sexy Little Sinner.

BITCH SLAP is a predictable and familiar story line; an erotic, quick building romance between two people who have been hurt by previous relationships. Pierce doesn’t do relationships or love, and the introductory chapters reveal exactly what and who Pierce is looking for. Jezebel Stuart is a woman betrayed by a former lover but a woman who is determined to protect her younger sister from the rabid fans who are currently vilifying the up and coming star. The plotline is a little more fleshed out than the original release. The premise is entertaining; the romance is passionate; the characters are colorful and energetic.

Years ago, Pierce Blackwell suffered the ultimate bitch slap at the hands of a woman he loved and from that day on, he vowed to never allow another woman that kind of power, trading relationships in for one-night stands, keeping the expectations confined to what happens in the bedroom and nothing else. Hook ups were all Pierce was interested in until he was bitch slapped again…this time in the best and worst way possible…by one alluring and definitely dangerous beauty. And, even though her name implies she’s up for certain “no strings” activities, this hook-up doesn’t go according to plan; in fact, it upends Pierce’s controlled and unemotional game plan when it comes to women and puts him in a position to either change his ways or lose any chance he might have had with a woman who is both challenging and intriguing at the same time.

Bitch Slap is told strictly from Pierce’s perspective, so readers take this lust filled journey with him, witnessing his conflicted feelings about Jez and relationships and wondering what he plans to do as we see him breaking his own rules and slowly changing his view on what he wants from women…or at least this one woman who has gotten completely under his skin.

Pierce and Jez’s story is a fast-paced read that illustrates the complications of young stardom and the lengths family members go to in order to protect those they love. This is definitely a lust at first sight situation that has the potential to develop into more, but only if Pierce is willing to make an exception to his interaction with the opposite sex and if a plan is developed that allows Pierce to do his job while also taking a chance on having something worthwhile with Jez despite the fact that they live in different states and have trust issues galore.

This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.

This was my first book by this author and I'm still not sure whether or not I enjoy her writing. It's really hard to tell much about an author's style when you start with a novella. Novellas tend to rush things because there's such a limited time frame to work with. With lovely little liar, we basically got love at first sight and insta-love. I'm usually not a fan of those two things if I'm being honest. I'm not sure whether or not I believe in love at first sight. It's usually lust at first sight as opposed to love.

In this story we have Pierce Blackwell, former military man who now runs his own security business with friends. Pierce has major trust issues. His fiance, Margie, left him before their wedding and it really messed with Pierce. He wants nothing to do with love and only hooks up with women for one night only.

Jezebel Stuart is the manager for her younger sister Delilah whose an actress. Due to some drama surrounding her sister, Jez wants to hire Pierce and his team to protect her. Pierce and Jez have instant connections but don't want that to get in the way of protecting Delilah. They have this banter where you aren't sure if they hate each other or want to rip each other's clothes off lol.

Overall, this is a shorter read at around 150 pages give or take. We're thrown quickly into this duo and everything is at a much faster pace than we would get in a larger book. I felt the story was just okay. I wasn't really rooting for these two because I didn't have time to connect to them. I did enjoy the characters but I just wasn't invested in them if that makes sense. I'm eager to try out a full length book by this author and see how that one goes.

'Bitch Slap' by J. Kenner is the story of Pierce and Jez.
Pierce is a one night stand guy after his engagement fell apart and has been happy that way for a long time. Pierce even joked that he could write a book about why one night stands are better than dating and a relationship. Jez is all business and is trying to oversea her sister career and now the fall out of her sister choices in relationships.
Pierce is trying a new hookup App when he enters a restaurant to meet a women who he only knows as 'J'. Pierce gathers that Jez is the women he is to meet and they go to the bar to talk. Jez thinks she is interviewing Pierce for a possible security job for her sister. When he goes on about this being one night she gets up and walks away since she needs at list three weeks. It doesn't take Pierce long to find out he had the wrong women. But he is curious about Jez so he goes forward to find out information about her which leads them to meet again.

This is a shorter book. Not quite a novella but definitely shorter than a full length novel. And, I enjoyed it a lot. The initial meeting of Jez and Pierce was wonderful, and it was hilarious. The mistaken identity, and the fact that it almost worked, that they were almost having the same conversation, was so well written and engaging that you are hooked from the very beginning.

For me, it stood out how well written this title is...a lot of the shorter novels can feel like they were written quickly, but this didn't at all. I enjoyed it, and the character development in it, a lot. Pierce and Jez felt like full fledged characters, like people, and that can be difficult to do in a shorter novel. It was done so well in this one that I really didn't feel I was missing all that much with this being a short novel.

I thought the pacing was pretty good, fast but pretty good. I think there were a couple of places I would have liked to be "present" as a reader that were skipped, but that is what happens in a shorter book, it just isn't possible to cover all of the scenes that would be present in a longer book.

I definitely recommend this title, and, I would definitely fire Pierce in Jez's situation. (Just read it, this will make sense).

I love J. Kenner's books. They always draw me in all the time. Bitch Slap definitely got me hooked. It was short. It was sweet. It was sexy. It was funny. Bitch slap was dripping in so much sass. I loved it. J. Kenner is always about the intense books like the Stark series and the Wanted series but I was so awed to see her fun and humorous side. Bitch Slap was a quick and unforgettable book that is perfect for the summer. I enjoyed it a lot and it gave me gooey goosebumps all over my skin. I was totally engrossed in it. Although it was such a short read, there was so much depth and plot to really keep me interested.

The characters were by far my favourite. Pierce and Jez are such a fun and sassy couple that really brought so much spark and life into the story. Pierce was so alpha and protective. I loved this story was told in his POV. It was different and I liked it. Jez was sassy and no nonsense type of woman. I liked her tenacity and her bullshit attitude. Definitely an awesome couple with sweet chemistry.

Bitch Slap was a surprise story which packed a punch. I cant wait for the next book in this series of novellas.

4.5 Star Review Lovely Little Liar by J Kenner
This book was originally published as Bitch Slap but not having read it then I jumped at the opportunity to read Lovely Little Liar. This was a fast quick novella that had me engaged from the start to the finish; in fact I would have loved the story to be longer.
A case of mistaken identity winds up as fate for Pierce Blackwell and Jezebel “Jez” Stuart. Pierce believe he is meeting”J” for a one night hook up and Jez believes she is meeting a security specialist to discuss a job. Their initial conversation is at cross purposes until Jez has enough and leaves. It is only after that that Pierce does some digging and realises what has happened.
Once Pierce realises e mix up he realises that Jez was looking to hire security for her sister Delilah Stuart, a young actress who has been vilified in the press recently.
There were some funny moments within this story and I have to say that the chemistry between Pierce and Jez was smoking hot. There are also a couple of mentions of familiar faces from Ms.Kenner’s Stark and Man of the Month series which made me smile.
I really loved the characters of Pierce and Jez, not to mention all of the secondary characters and I cannot wait for the next instalment in this series.

Bitch Slap is a fun quick and super cute romance. This book starts of with a huge misunderstanding and it's almost as if fate itself has stepped in. Talk about being at the right place at the right time.

Pierce's instant attraction and Jez's instant rejection instantly grabs you and you're immediately giggling almost wanting to face palm yourself at how a first impression can go so terribly wrong. Immediately I needed to see how this would play out.

The bedroom chemistry between these two is off the charts and dayummm it made for some steamy as hell moments. These two definitely fit so well together like PB & J. Almost a whirlwind romance you could say that had me smiling and wanting these two to figure out a way.

I also loved how we shortly but briefly see a mention of Damian Stark which made me fall in love with J Kenner to begin with.

Would recommend this to someone looking for a cute, quick read chalked full of great banter and steamy moments.
