Rate this book
This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN: B008ULH7JI

Scottish Dream trilogy captures the lives and loves of three brothers and the secret they each hold. This collection includes the complete novels of Borrowed Dreams, Captured Dreams, and Dreams of Destiny.

Borrowed Dreams

Driven to undo the evil wrought by her dead husband, Millicent Wentworth must find a way to save her estate and free the innocent people her husband enslaved. Her only hope is a marriage of convenience with the notorious widower, Lyon Pennington, fourth Earl of Aytoun, who just may be the most handsome-and caring-man she's ever encountered.

Captured Dreams

May McGoldrick returns with the latest in a trilogy about love-and the birth of a nation...

Portia Edwards will go to any length to find the family she's never known. And when she meets merchant Pierce Pennington, a staunch but secretive Son of Liberty, Portia has the perfect chance to ask for his help. But her stubborn pride keeps her silent. That is, until she recognizes her strong attraction to the brave man who, by night, is known as the infamous Captain MacHeath, smuggling arms by sea under the pall of darkness-all in the name of liberty...

Dreams of Destiny

Wounded by scandal and the unsolved murder of his sister-in-law, David Pennington is outwardly insolent and arrogant. But nothing will stop him from escorting his childhood friend, Gwyneth Douglas, to Scotland-and saving the Scottish heiress from fortune hunters. But with their arrival in Scotland comes terrible danger. Now, if they ever hope to satisfy their desire, they will need to thwart the evil that threatens to destroy both their lives...

Borrowed Dreams - Wow! This book has a lot of things going for it and I am completely in love. This is my first May McGoldrick book I have read and I don’t know how I’ve never read any before now. I have been missing out. This husband/wife author duo make a fantastic team. The story is so well written and just seems so... I don’t know... honest? The story briefly touches on sensitive subjects such as slavery, rape, and abuse, and none of it is really sugar coated. Obviously this book is a work of fiction and only briefly touches on real subjects but it wasn’t glorified. The hero and heroine are very engaging characters and I rooted for them from the very beginning of the book. I loved the hero! I am a complete sucker for hero’s that have physical disabilities . I love when a hero isn’t so perfect and untouchable. He was a very warm and likeable character. The heroine was one of those beautiful inside and out characters that you can’t help but feel connected to her. There are a lot of other characters as well but it’s easy to follow and they all bring something special to the story. It was a very exciting read and was hard to put down. I highly recommend this book. 5 stars.

Captured Dreams by May McGoldrick is the second book in the Scottish Dreams trilogy. The first book was incredible and really hard to top but this one comes very close. I enjoyed this story for a lot of reasons, one of them being the heroine who had a very strong personality. Portia is lively and very charming character who had me laughing quite a bit. Pierce is an equally captivating character, who I’ve been intrigued by since his mention in the first book. I was not disappointed. Another reason I enjoyed this story is because I absolutely LOVE stories where characters make reappearances! It was nice hearing more about Millicent and Lyon. The story itself is well written and full of emotion but there are a couple areas didn’t didn’t flow as nicely as the rest of the book but it didn’t affect the story too much. I’m torn between giving 4 or 5 stars. Regardless it is a very entertaining story! If you’ve read the first and loved it as much as I did, you should definitely give this one a try too!! I would recommend reading them in order, for the full effect.

Dreams of Destiny is the final book in the trilogy and oh my goodness was it amazing! This one was hands down my favourite one out of all them!! There is something completely magnetic about David’s character. I couldn’t get enough, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like about him! Gwyneth was an amazing character too, they all were. It was enjoyable seeing it all come together and unfold. Very talented storytellers! I love that everyone who deserved a happy ending got one. My attention was fully captured. It was unpredictable, at times shocking, romantic, and completely riveting. Definitely a story I could read more than once! Fantastic book! 5 stars.

Box sets are the Best!

One of the best things about trilogies are the characters who grow on you and simmer in your mind as they grow and become more complexed as they move from one book to another. This box set was awesome, steamy, interesting and the flow of the book was quick! Loved the way the authors intertwine the three books almost into a saga. A great read for adults.

Grammatical errors aside, one of the best trilogies I've read in years!

I would be hard pressed to come up with another trilogy I so thoroughly enjoyed from the first page to the last about three brothers whose lives and loves are so ultimately torn apart and deeply affected by one woman's selfish treachery and how their love for strong, independent women helps them each to find their paths back home to family! This author is beyond talented in weaving complex tales of Love, intrigue, family turmoil, Mystery and much more all within an enchanting historical setting. Highly recommended!

Awesome series hard to put down

Strong characters and a good mystery. The mystery goes through the entire series so you need to read all 3 books. Book three sort of bounced back and forth from present to past to show some of what had been left out of the original story to fill in the blanks. I'm not a fan of that but guess it was necessary for the sake of the mystery but it was confusing to abruptly be back in time. The stories of the three brothers was captivating and I was glad I had the series and didn't have to seek out the next book. Will be seeking more from the authors.

A couple of things make this trilogy worthy of four stars rather than my usual three:
The historical settings and events bring the story to life.
The relationships, tensions, conflicts, and resolutions are solid and believable.

Couldn't put it down.

I read this entire trilogy in a day. It is very well written and very easily swept me away to the place and time. This is a love, suspense and comedy wrapped together. I often found myself laughing out loud at times and then found my eyes misting over with tears at others. I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Super heroines

Now that is how you write heroines! We need to write more about strong, beautiful, brave heroines who can rise above their obstacles and sufferings.
