"Nothing is unreal as long as you can imagine like a crow." --Munia Khan
Conventional wisdom says that a crow can not be tamed. These intelligent creatures are often understood as harbingers of doubt and uncertainty, whose high nesting grant them an unusually elevated perspective. For the writer, the crows of doubt circle over every project. This book shows they can be tamed.
Writing is a magical hobby and form of expression but getting words on the page is not the same as finalizing material which you are happy to send out and share. This book is a complete toolkit which will help you to tame doubts and insecurities and engage with your internal critic in order to assert control over your manuscript and elevate your writing.
Written by the team behind one of the world's most successful literary consultancies, Taming the Crows will show you how to master the art of self-editing--perhaps the least understood but most vital skill in the writer's toolkit. You will learn to compose, draft, and edit while sharpening your writing and ensuring that your novel is structurally sound, authentic, well-written and ready for submission.

This book had a much more commercial focus than something like Stephen King's On Writing which was fresh and informative. Obviously, it had a focus on editing, specifically the author self-editing, but included useful advice for the writing process as well. I found parts difficult to get through which may be due to the fact I have not began writing a novel and am in no way ready to publish. Even these parts, however, provided information that will be useful to me in the future. This book particularly assisted with giving the publication process some context. Other books on writing I have read generally stop at the acquisition of an agent, and the formatting of manuscripts. This book went beyond to discussions with publishers, how to know your agent is right for you, and even into depth about publicity and sales. It's given me a lot to think about in terms of my online presence!
Mixed review on this one. It’s a wonderful resource on writing, full of easy lessons with great examples. Well laid out and presented. However, I personally felt these were better lessons for the beginner writer at the start of a project and less helpful for the editing process of a completed draft.
This book is more helpful than other writing guides I have read. It offers explicit explanations on topics, e.g. Show don't Tell or Pacing. Things you know about but don't know EVERYTHING about.
have yet to finish this one but it is fantastic! love learning about writing craft and the editing process. I'm about half way through this book and would love to finish it sometime soon.
