They say life imitates art, but can you imitate love? For twenty million dollars, I'm going to try.
When my boss calls me into her office, I think I'm about to be fired. It's much worse. Piper quit and I'm next in line for her job. I should be happy, right?
Wrong. I have to make the ask tonight at The Met's gala. And the donor is one of New York's most eligible bachelors. AND if I blow this proposal, I can kiss my career at The Met goodbye.
No pressure.
Except that Mr. Infuriating has a proposal of his own, and he won't take no for an answer.
I can hardly stand to be in the same room with him as it is, so how am I going to convince all of New York City that we're madly in love?! But when his hands go around my waist and his chiseled jaw grazes against my cheek and he takes my lips with his...
I know I'm in big trouble because I'm about to break rule number one: don't fall in love.
Elle invites you into a world of steamy kisses, brawny arms, and fiery heroines. If you like leading ladies with a lot of sass and the strong hunks who chase after them, then you've come to the right place!
If you want to get a glimpse into what she's working on, follow her on Instagram.
Very well written. Amazing heroine. Strong, sassy, not a doormat, clever, she even didn’t have any hormonal disorder – which is very popular in CR. She didn’t cream her panties, didn’t drool over him, didn’t lose her ability to speak in coherent lines. Amazing!
But… (and this is STRONGLY personal opinion!!!)
He was absolute unlikable, self-centered a§§holish snob. And I didn’t dislike him for his manwhorishness (not that I would have missed the flashbacks about his past hook-ups), but for his judgmental approach and zero respect for others. He blackmailed the heroine to date him. He told her she wasn’t his equal and he usually dated more sophisticated women. But he wanted her again all odds. Well, I wouldn’t have given him any chance, and that’s why I couldn’t quite enjoy the story.
But the heroine was written brilliantly. I will check other books by this author. (Not quite sure about the next one: he is a player and she is a virgin… -> not my coppa)

I picked this book up because I was in the mood for an a**hole Hero. And we have a winner folks.
Our Hero is an arrogant, condescending, insensitive jerk who is asked by his father to wife up or kiss his job goodbye. He blackmailed the h into acting as his fake girlfriend for 5weeks during the duration of his father's campaign. The h refused him thinking he is a nutcase (couldn't agree more) But to refuse means the lack of funding for the museum. The a**hole declined the proposal but told her he can be persuaded to change his mind if she agrees to date him. (what a winner of a hero. NOT)
I highlighted some of his BEAST moments. He scoffs the h when she turned down the offer of being his fake girlfriend. Here's the convo:
"Are you serious? You're walking away from the chance to date me. You should be flattered I asked. Look at you, you're constantly saying the wrong thing, you're woefully naive, and not even close to being my equal".
"I'm the CEO of a billion dollar company, ypu work at a museum. I went to the nation's top schools, you strike me as public school girl. My family owns a jet, you fly a coach. We're worlds apart, honey."
"That's exactly why I want you. You aren't my type and I'm not yours, so you won't fall for me."
I seriously want to punch him in the face by this time and shake his a**holeness out of him.
By the 25 percent mark I wanted to abandon this book because of this inner monologue. He met the co worker of the h for lunch to listen about the proposal for the museum.
* I get a view of her chest as she straightens- on the smaller side, but not bad*
*It wouldn't hurt to have a good looking blonde on my arm at a political rally. Maybe she'd be interested in signing up for this fake relationship. I almost laugh. Of course she would. I'm one of New York's most eligible bachelors, and my stern refusal to date makes me a challenge*
By the 31 percent mark I really really wanted to strangled him (he brings out the worst in me)
" The thought of sharing a bathroom with you makes me gag."
The h told him this "We're not having you know... sex.
The a**hole laughs and said "You would be so lucky"! (Can I kill a fictional character? Aside from throwing my kindle, of course)
And there's more.... "I'll have you know that I'm a great lay; ask any woman who's been lucky enough to find themselves in my bed or cloakroom. The woman comes first in more ways than one.
Did he redeem myself in my eyes? tough question. I prided myself for having thick skin. The H got under it when he started to change and even pursuing the h in the end BUT dude I will never forget all the hateful words he said. Maybe in five years? After he rolls in the mud staining his Armani suit for half of it. Does it make me hateful? Vengeful? I.Don't. Care.
I agree with a friend's review (waves at Alex). The h is good. She has backbone and doesn't get intimidated by the H. She has weak moments of course like drooling the H abs. Nothing wrong with it. Just don't make it obvious please.
I am kinda confused how to rate it. The h is very likeable but the H not so much but towards the end? Hmmmm
The Hero was a real asshole for the majority of the book but he did change his attitude and started treating the heroine like he loved her. I liked the heroine in the beginning but she really annoyed me with all of her pushing away at the end. I get that she had fears BUT after the Hero decided he loved her he did NOTHING to make her think he would leave her. He kept telling her over and over again it was forever but she didn't listen.
So basically...I was annoyed with the H the first half, liked him the second half. Liked the heroine the first half, but she annoyed me the second half....
Why. Can't. Every. Book. I. Read. Be. This. Good?!
Seriously though, when I talk about enemies turned lovers books, this is what I'm talking about!
Does the heroine get all wet and weak over the sight of the Hero? Hell no. Yes, she acknowledged his good looks but she stuck with her guns and wouldn't let him disrespect her. She actually stood up for herself without all the "clit tingling, soaked panties" bullshit.
And as the story progressed, he learned to respect her and their relationship progressed beautifully.
This book was an awesome read. Great relationship development, no-nonsense heroine and humor altogether in a book are a recipe to success in my opinion. Loved it thoroughly.
Quinn East works for the Met Gallery, and is on her way to earning a promotion which could change the trajectory of her career. Archer Stratton's the key donor she must secure, with a $20M dollar payout.
As his father runs for mayor, the pressure mounts on workaholic Archie to clean up his image of bachelor exploits and pompous unreachable behaviour within a ticking timeframe of two weeks.
Quinn detests his pompous arrogance, his privilege, cockiness and believes in the "real deal". Archer's a cynic, his heart is firmly sealed against the hard working brunette even if her insults and quips affect him more than they are supposed to. They both need each other. Her to secure her promotion, and he to secure his father's campaign image so he can win the mayoral election.
So the deal is forged for the next five months.
*** I really like this one! I feel like I wrote an entirely new blurb. There's light ex fiancée drama. It's a slow burn; there's this will-they-won't-they dance around each other. They become friends first which was more important than anything. One of stipulations of the deal is that both parties must remain celibate for the duration of the time so it's safe. She was magnificent with her reactions and putting him in his place. He melted my heart a little towards the end of the book when he pushes forward to break their deal even as she hesitates.
Other than his proficiency to pluck out condoms out of thin air and Valerie's threat where nothing came from it, I really liked this book.
“I don’t know exactly when it happened, if it was one particular moment or a combination of many, but somewhere in the last three months, my heart ceased to be my own. It is now Quinn’s.”
ARC review Quinn is up for a big promotion at the museum. She must secure a $20 million donation from Heath Stratton. It should be easy, Heath is a very generous patron to the arts. They just named a wing after him. All she has to do is butter him up at the gala. The problem comes when he sends his son, Archer in stead. Archer is a arrogant, rude, condescending, workaholic. There first meeting couple of meetings are so bad that Quinn is willing to give up her much wanted promotion. I enjoyed the story and had some laughs watching these two fall in love. I liked Archer from the beginning. I couldn't wait for him to get his comeuppance. Quinn was a sweet heart but she was not a pushover and she gave Archer a run for his money. I look forward to reading more from this new to me author.
I did not finish the book due to the poor editing. It was quite atrocious. Words were missing, typos were everywhere, and you could tell the editor/author does not have a firm grasp on grammar. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that English is not his or her first language.
This was an okay read for me. The writing flowed well, but it was the characters that I had problems with. Archer was a jerk, and was super conceited at the beginning. While he got better as the story went on, Quinn did not. She was very stubborn, to the point of being rude at times. Yes, she had issues. Being too bullheaded to accept help out of a vehicle, to fall flat on your face, seems a bit much. She ended up being more hurtful to Archer than he ever was of her. I didn't really like her character until the last couple of chapters. This is a slow burn story as well. They don't get together until about 85% through the book. The Tessa and Valerie story lines were just dropped. I was expecting some kind of drama from one or both of them, but nothing happened. This was a first for me from this author, but I would give her another read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Ah~..Totally a slow burn and it is so good i hardly put it down. I liked it so much until i want to throw a punch on Archer for being a jerk half of the book. Then it goes slowly and getting better. I like smart woman like Quinn. She is the super woman who take chances of a lifetime and stand up for herself.. We need more books like this. Strong woman characters.
In order to get a promotion at the museum she works at, Quinn must secure a $20 million donation. Only problem, that donor is known as an arrogant prick. Meanwhile, said prick's dad gives him an ultimatum... get married or get fired. Archer decides that with Quinn's help, they can both get what they want. But with the way the butt heads about pretty much everything, that is easier said than done.
This does have a happy ending, as we all know how those 'Fake Relationships' go. The characters kinda surprised me. Archer ended up being a lot kinder than he was originally portrayed. While, Quinn was more hardheaded. Neither were mean, or callus, though they often had the wrong thoughts about what the other's intentions... which in turn caused havoc with their mental states.
There are some interesting side characters, and a couple of them bring a little Mean Girl action to the book. Actually, that is the only negative I can think of for this book... not the characters, but their part in the story. I kept waiting for something to happen, but then after a couple scenes with them, they kinda faded out of the picture. One example: One of the 'Mean Girls' was a co-worker of Quinn's, who tried to get her promotion. She made some threats to Quinn and then we never hear from her again. Not that I thought the book needed more drama, but it just felt like there was unfinished business.
The book ended up being a lot more sweet than I anticipated going in. And I liked the fact that despite him not believing in marriage, he was the one who was having to convince her. Most books it feels like its always the women who have to make the men open their eyes and want to commit.
This is written well (that one negative the exception) and flows smoothly, and reads quickly. It's pretty clean up until the last couple chapters. The couple sex scenes aren't too graphic or 'smutty,' but probably still enough to deem it suitable for the 17-18+ readers.
rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. we meet Quinn, aMet Development officer in a tizzy bc she has to do "an ask" at the Stratton opening that night. she is scared out of her mind but has heard Mr Stratton is a kind man. we meet Archer, CEO of his father's company, arrogant workaholic who was demanded by his father to attend the opening and to be nice. running into his cheating ex, he seeks asylum in a quiet area of the museum when a beautiful woman insists he returns to the main room. Quinn doesn't know who this sexy man is but she feels a kindred spirit in not wanting to be there. she tells him about the ask and rumors she's heard...big mistake. archer can't believe this woman doesnt know sho he is and insults him on top of it. as Quinn returns the son of Mr Stratton is there in his place and it's the guy she had a heated argument with. there goes her job. archer finds out his father is running for office but he needs to rebrand his image. ultimatum...he find a respectable woman to be y his side or they do it for him. wth!! archer is not happy but the alternative is worse. his scheduled mtg is with none other then the fiesty woman from the Met and be asks her to be his fake gf. Quinn cant believes her ears and refuses but archer dangles the ask in front of her. Quinn is basically dangling from the carrot. what could possibly go wrong?
Quinn’s dream job at MET museum was within reach as long as she gets 20 million dollar ask to Stratton at their new wing reveal. What she didn’t know was she will be facing different Stratton than who she thought she was meeting. Archer Stratton is a narcissistic, rude and playboy billionaire who loves his job and nothing else. When his father asked him to attend the museum in be half of him, he wanted out but his father would fire him if he didn’t attend. So he reluctantly went but when he met Quinn for the first time, nothing went the way both wanted. After awful first impression at the gala, he meets Quinn again and the meeting went south quickly and she leaves him. Now Archer’s father is running for NY mayors race and he made it clear to Archer that he has two weeks to clear his image up by settlin with someone otherwise his father will pick his suitor or he will need to. e with his ex who he can’t stand for many reasons. He can only think of Quinn and thinks she would play perfect suitor. When Archer approaches Quinn with the idea of being his girlfriend until his fathers election, she rejects him flatly. He knew if he donates donation she was seeking earlier to sweeten the deal might change her mind. So she decides to play along as long as he keeps his promise. Now they have to be lovely couple and needs to show affection. slowly Archer is showing his softer side and falling for Quinn. now everything is snow balling due to his father’s suggestion. now it doesn’t seem like fake relationship anymore to both. I really enjoyed reading 📖 this book. I couldn’t put it down. Quinn and Archer’s chemistry and their dialogues were fantastic. It was one of my favorite enemy to lover story. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Cute enemies to love tale. Editing left quite a bit to be desired - missing words, wrong words, wrong tenses, etc.
Quinn works at the MET, fundraising to keep things going. Archer is a member of a patron of the MET. They meet at the opening of a new wing, funded by Archer's family. Quinn has no idea who she is talking to, thereby opening her mouth with not so nice things to say about Archer. Of course, Quinn is properly mortified by her mistake, but quickly angered by Archer's arrogant attitude. Things aren't helped by the fact that Quinn is assigned the task of asking Archer's family for a rather healthy endowment for another new wing at the MET. However, Archer's father has decided to run for mayor, and needs Archer to change his image from ice king to family guy in a matter of weeks. Archer decides Quinn is the girl, and offers her the endowment for her cooperation as his fake girlfriend. These things never turn out exactly as planned. Archer's ex has a hard time letting him move on. Quinn has a hard time believing in her own feelings, let alone Archer's change of heart. Will these two ever get on the same page and exchange a fake relationship for a real one?
This was a cute, quick read. Nothing really deep - just pure entertainment. On a cold afternoon, that is just perfect. Enjoy.
Overall, Fiancee Forgery is a good , appealing and engaging read .
It has many funny moments, witty banter and hot sexy times but there were few things that annoyed me , and that's the reason why I din't give a higher rating.
The Positives are: It's playful , entertaining and witty read. The heroine is strong , independent and smart . The Hero redeems himself as the story goes on. The chemistry and banter between the MC is hot , fresh and provoking.
The Negatives are: Needs better editing , there are lots of unnecessary and superfluous explanations that slowed down and dragged the story down to a crawl. I even had to skip few pages every now and then. The were few times in the beginning of the story that H/h acted so immature, in so many occasions, that it was hard to believe they were the age they were and hold the job and responsibilities they had.
This is a new author for me that I think, has a lot of potential. I voluntary reviewed an ARC provided by Hidden Gems Books for an honest review.
Met Development Officer Quinn East is in line for a promotion to Director on the condition that she secures a $20 million donation from Heath Stratton, a major donor. CEO Archer Stratton is roped into attending an event at the Met on behalf of his father Heath and is bored out of his mind until he meets the beautiful but feisty Quinn. When Archer's father declares he's running for mayor, he gives Archer an ultimatum, get a girlfriend to clean up his image or he's fired as CEO. Quinn grudgingly agrees to be the fake girlfriend of the breathtakingly handsome but arrogant Archer in exchange for a $20 million donation to the Met. Archer thinks Quinn's perfect for the role because they're not each other's type and she won't fall for him but what happens when Archer falls for Quinn?
Elle Viviani delivers a funny, entertaining and drama-filled story that will suck you in
Sweet and good love story of Quinn and Archer. They need to fake their relation because his father wants him to clean his image and she needs his money for the museum where she’s working. They hate each other but when it seems to change, their difference are so huge that they refuse to try anything. I liked the way their relation is described, it’s well written, and I kept reading the story even if finally it’s quite predictable. I loved Archer’s character because of his awful behavior at first, but even if his friend says that Archer is an alpha, is more an arrogant jerk than someone who like to control. I liked seeing him change during the story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Talk about a jerk, the hero of his story was a first class one and top that off with arrogance, rudeness and snobbery. Archer's father Heath was going to run for mayor and he needed Archer to clean up his image. Quinn works for the Met and her promotion hinges on her securing a $20 Million $ donation from Heath. Heath promises her the donation if she will enter into a fake fiancee situation with his son. They are like oil and water together and it's a stormy time for a while. Time heals most wounds, they say and that was the case for them. An entertaining read that I read as a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
I was approved for an ARC copy of this book for a voluntary review.
I love books like this. Fake relationship tropes are up there with my favourites and this one was really great. Quinn works for the Met and she's after a really large donation. Enter Archer, son of a billionaire art lover who's running for mayor and who's looking to change his youngest son's reputation. From day one, they HATE each other. They know the score from day one and yet...I love the way their relationship develops and the ending is so romantic.
This is an adorable book! Usually it’s the girl that realizes that she’s fallen for the guy and tries to make things work, but it’s not that way with this one. This guy is so full of himself, he deserved to be taken down a peg or two, but watching him completely change for her is amazing, even if she doesn’t see it herself. They are definitely made for one another and are bound to keep one another on their toes! I cannot wait to read more by this author, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
This was a really good fake relationship.enemies to lovers romance. This was quite a fun read and had me chuckling at times. When Quinn first meets Archer she has no clue who he is and does not say nice things about him when she realises what she has done she is at first devasted but when he is a complete ass she just gets angry. When Archers dad runs for Mayor his family want him to sort out his image and he decides to get Quinn to be his fake girlfriend and he will give her the money for the MET she needs. These two were pretty hot together it was a good read
First book I've read from this author and it was good. Archer and Quinn were written beautifully for each other. I always love me a good fake marriage romance. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little bit more sexual chemistry between them but overall, it was a really great book. The writing was good and kept you hooked. Great job.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review. Loved the story between Quinn and Archer. Quinn had a rough start in life but found a mentor who helped her find her way. Archer grew up with a silver spoon and did not have the time or the patience to appreciate those around him or people in general. Quinn met Archer and as they say opposites attract. An excellent story. Recommend.
This is a cute story about two totally opposite people entering into a fake relationship. I enjoyed this book; however, there were some things that got on my nerves. Like Archer’s friend referring to himself and Archer as alpha males...an alpha male would never say that. Also, Archer is downright rude and mean when he first meets Quinn. I don’t really feel like Archer redeems himself. But it is still a decent read.
I received an ARC from Hidden Gems in exchange for a honest review.
I have to admit that I had trouble getting started with this book, but once I got into it, and figured out who the players were, I was invested. Yes, it's another 'pretend to be my girlfriend, it will be a win-win' kind of story, but the characters and the secondary characters keep you going! This was an enjoyable, fairly fast read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, and I also unknowingly purchased a copy of it too!
Quinn and Archer kept me entertained the whole way through.
Archer is egotistical, arrogant and a complete jerk. Quinn is funny, honest and won't take crap from anyone. The two together are hilarious and captivating.
I received an ARC of Fiancée Forgery and this is my honest review.
The whole fake fiance/they really hate each other is one of my favourite type of books to read. This book drewe in from the first chapter. Quinn and Archer's first meet was hilarious. I loved how their relationship slowly moved from fake to real. They didn't just fall in love over night.
Very good! A feisty enemies to lovers romcom. I loved Quinn, and Archer started off as a total prickly curmudgeon, but then shaped up to be cute and kind - that 'heart of gold' stuff. I ended up loving him 💟💓 I think this is the first book by this author? I'll check out more from her for sure. 👍
This actually turned out to be a very entertaining story about two people who find their happy ever after through a very public fake engagement. I will look for more stories from this author.
