Alvie Knightly is back . . . and she's hungover.

When Alvie discovers that her hit man boyfriend has driven off with the Lamborghini and two million euros, she does what any heartbroken, deserted, amateur assassin would do - she drinks everything in the mini-bar and trashes her hotel room. And then she gets to work.

A perilous cat-and-mouse game takes the pair across Rome, leaving a trail of collateral damage in their wake. But as she wholeheartedly embraces her dark side Alvie will have to figure out if Nino is her nemesis . . . or the only man bad enough to handle her.

Hold on tight for another roller coaster of a ride where anything and everything goes.

Alvie was envious of Beth and wanted her life, well maybe she should have been careful what she wished for, as life as Beth is anything but idyllic.

Alvie is hot on the heels of Nino and she wants revenge, this brilliant cat and mouse chase takes us through Rome with more casualties and lots of hilarity strewn along the way. I’m still chucking about the hand grenade, viagra drugged cop and the priest!!

They say leave the reader wanting more and after that cliff hanger I NEED the next book in this trilogy NOW!!

My advice is to buckle up and enjoy the ride, yes it is over the top with larger than life characters but boy is it entertaining and funny.

I received a free digital copy of this book from the publishers/author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

For a book that has such a beautiful cover, I’m so disappointed that it ended up being a tacky mess. I probably should have guessed from the title that this book is just plain bad.

Bad is a sequel to Mad, which follows Alvie Knightly visit her twin, accidentally kill her and then take her identity. You don’t need to read Mad before Bad, as at the start of Bad, the reader is given a full synopsis of the crazy shenanigans that took place in the prequel - and to be honest, that’s when I knew this book probably wasn’t for me. It was just so crazy and all over the place from the get go.

Alvie Knightly is a horrible character- probably one of the worst protagonists I’ve ever read in my life. There is literally nothing redeemable about her at all so when reading the book, I couldn’t sympathises with any silly situation she got herself in or be able to excuse the way she treated everyone around her.

Everything in this book is also highly implausible as well, I’d just like to add. It’s definitely not one of those crime thrillers that feels like it could actually happen. Nope, definitely not this one - especially with a main character who nicknamed her favourite sex toy ‘Mr Dick.’

I just can’t emphasise enough to people not to read this because it’s such a waste of time. And even when you think it’s finally over, and the book will end, it just doesn’t - it goes on and on and on. This is BAD. BAD BAD BAD.

My mother walks over to me and narrows her eyes. ‘Wherever you go, disaster follows.’
‘Hey, Mum, don’t blame me. Wrong time, wrong place. That’s all.’

NEDEN!
kız bütün kitap Nino'yu aradı, neler çekti, sonu böyle o l m a m a l ı y d ı.

Sometimes it’s OK to lie. Sometimes, like every day. ‘Little white lies’ they’re called. They’re ace. They get you out of trouble.

This is all just typical. The one time I didn’t kill them is the time that I get caught. It’s ironic, like that song by Alanis (I don’t need a spoon; I need a gun).

Lanet olsun.

Dangerous to Know'da görüşürüz :'(

This is the second book in a trilogy, I didn’t have a chance to read the first book, but no worries because Alvie begins by swiftly highlighting what happened so I was all caught up within a few pages. Right from the start you know that you’re not dealing with your typical thriller protagonist, Alvie is the type of character you’ll either love or hate, but whatever side of the fence you fall on on, you won’t soon forget her.

I have to expand on Alvie, she is SUCH a hot mess, seriously a train wreck I could not read about her madcap adventures fast enough. She’s brash, vulgar and insane and I loved every bit of her crude commentary and bold moves. Her inner monologue slayed me and the pacing was brisk and full of nonstop action and over the top scenes. There is some sexually explicit content throughout, its pretty in your face and unapologetic so be warned.

This would make a great summer movie, I could easily see this playing out on the big screen and I just know a movie would be just as much fun as the book. This was sharply funny, Alvie has a biting wit and takes no prisoners, grab this if you want something wholly unique, just know it’s not for those easily offended by outrageous behavior.

Bad in three words: Sexy, Fast and Outrageous.

I loved “Mad” the first novel in this trilogy – where we were introduced to Alvie Knightly, a girl on a mission to steal her sister’s life. Seemingly she should be careful what she wished for but ultimately Alvie has a dangerously dark core which came to life in hilarious detail – Mad was possibly the most appropriately titled novel ever..

Now Alvie is back, embracing her inner killer and on the hunt for lover Nino, who has left her behind and issued a challenge. Well Alvie is more than up to that and sets off to track Nino down, leaving a trail of destruction in her wake…but will she find her happily ever after?

I love Alvie as a character – she’s funny, often inept, but wickedly engaging, can extract herself from any situation and basically just rolls over anyone in her way leaving them either dead or distraught. The wonderfully sexy Nino keeps her on her toes and “Mad” is basically just one long twisted courtship. The events get ever more insane but ever more entertaining and this is the most fun you’ll have with a book this Summer I reckon. It is far fetched yet utterly believable, the characters pop, the locations are vividly brought to life as both Nino and Alvie cut a swathe through Rome in a cat and mouse chase where honestly either one could be cat or mouse…

You can read this without reading “Mad” as Alvie helpfully gives us a rather ranty “previously on” early in the book but I really would start at the beginning so you can see her develop, often her randomly witty inner dialogue will have you laughing out loud, plus the forming of her relationship with assassin Nino, how they end up in this situation is an incredibly lively reading time. You have time to catch up with Alvie’s adventures so far.

I loved it. Wildly entertaining. sexy as hell, possibly the darkest ending that will still make you laugh I’ve ever seen, I can’t help but highly recommend it. Bring on “Dangerous to Know” – I simply can’t wait.

I'll be totally honest, this book was not for me.

I normally LIVE for soap opera like books that bring crazy characters to the forefront, but this book was just.. well... Bad. I didn't like it.

I found Alvie and Nino to be unbearable. I couldn't stand reading about them because there was no redeeming quality. This wasn't a "hate them but love them" kind of book either, they aren't Loki. These are two despicable people that I didn't want to win or have a happily ever after. They were insane, mean and murderous. I didn't enjoy following them. There was no redeeming qualities. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

This book wanted to be a soap opera, crime spree. It was well on it's way but with no redeeming qualities for the characters I struggled to get through. I wanted to DNF and I did multiple times. I finally forced myself through it and kind of regretted it. It wasn't for me.

Chloe Esposito's writing is good though. She has talent, but she didn't write what I wanted to read about (or thought I was getting).

Unfortunately, this is a one star read for me.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

'Come on', he says. 'Don't be naive. You don't think priests like transsexual hookers? This is 2015.'

This picks up from where 'Mad' ended but Alvie helpfully gives a summary of her demented week for new readers... With Nino having absconded with the millions and the car, Alvie is thrust back on her own resources, but nothing will keep this girl down for long! And so begins a cat-and-mouse chase - or is that a courtship?!

Once again, our wicked anti-heroine is LOL funny and her adventures are even more outrageous than in the first book (the grenade! the dead nun! the viagra-drugged cop!). Do beware if you're easily offended by bad language and explicit sex, for everyone else this is brilliantly written escapism!

Oh my God, what a mess!

I don't know what to say about this book... Let's start with the story, as it might help.

Alvie Knightly has an identical twin, Elizabeth, who she is not that font of, to say it politely. When Beth invites her to Italy, Alvie never expected what was about to happen. After all the fuss that took place in the first book, Beth is dead, Beth's husband is dead, Beth's lover is dead and Alvie is on the run with Nino, a fast car and a lot of money. But, to her bad luck, she is left alone without any of it.

After that, Alvie is trying to find and revenge Nino and become an assassin.

OK... That girl doesn't stand a chance to get any of this! She has a lot of issues, as she floats somewhere away from reality. She is at least crazy...

The whole book is a race of bad choices, sex, drugs, alcohol, stupid thinking and even stupider acting. Everything is moving really fast. The whole thing is supposed to last a week and Alvie has done what other people would need a lifetime in less than seven days!

That girl is not thinking straight. She is supposed to have daddy issues, bad this doesn't mean that everyone that hasn't met their dad is expected to sleep with all men they meet and don't have a belly and a very few grey hair! Her only choices in life are men, handsome ones at least, posh clothes and accessories, drinks and drugs and of course, sex.

I think that summarizes it all... Oh and that, I don't want to read another book in the series...

Some reviews are easy to write and some take some time and thought and contemplating. Bad is one of the easy ones and will consist of a few words, many exclamation marks and a couple of OMGS.

This is the second book in the Mad, Bad and Dangerous trilogy and it’s even funnier, more outrageous and ruder than the first book.

It definitely can be read as a stand-alone as the author brilliantly reminds the reader of what happened in book 1 which for me was absolutely perfect as I have the memory of a goldfish and read book 1 ages ago.

Alvie, our feisty, sex mad, psycho and accidental assassin is back and this time she’s mad and determined to hunt down and kill and f*ck Nino, for abandoning her in London, stealing the Lamborghini and €2million.

Bad is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS, RUDE, CRUDE and hysterical throughout. There are some truly cringeworthy scenes that I wish I could remove from my mind, but alas the dog napping, tattoo parlour and where she keeps the hand grenade are permanently etched in my head now.

I needed a break from all the heavy psychological thrillers and emotional contemporary dramas and Bad was absolutely perfect.

Highly recommended for a shocking giggle and can’t wait for the final book in the series now.

After not knowing what to expect in book one, Mad, and taken by surprise by Alvie and her batshit ways, I found going into Bad, I really enjoyed this story more. Now I know what Alvie is about and while definitely still out there, I've become fond of Alvie and her crazy ways. She is not someone to cross, cross in front of, or just in general be around unless you can afford her something that she needs. And she needs A LOT!

What I love best in this crazy ride is her inner monologue. She justifies everything she does with no remorse and quite frankly, most of it is freaking HILARIOUS. It's a bit vulgar at time with a touch of erotica. Sometimes I wish I could live my life an unapologetically as she does... without any consequences of course.

This book is absolutely insane and such a guilty pleasure. Take this book for what it is and enjoy the ride that Alvie takes you on - because I'm quite sure you haven't been on one like this!

Thanks so much to Dutton Books for this copy!

Vis dėlto man pirmoji knyga paliko geresnį įspūdį, tačiau bus įdomu perskaityti ir tolimesnius Alvinos nuotykius.

'Come on,' he says. 'Don't be naive. You don't think priests like transsexual hookers? This is 2015.'

I'm all for 'live and let live', but not only does Bad make a special effort at every turn to be provocative, the main character is a lot more into the 'live' part than the 'let live' part. That's the diplomatic way of saying that she's a crazy serial killer who I would never want to come across in real life. That said, Bad is an alright beach read if you can ignore Alvie's raging lunacy, which to me feels lot like saying Mein Kampf is a decent political treatise if you ignore that Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews.

I guess I'll state upfront the few good things I found in this novel: It's the second in a trilogy but very easy to follow on its own, thanks to a detailed recap of the sex and murder that took place in the first book Mad. I also see on some level how Bad can be enjoyable provided that you turn your brain off and use it as catharsis. The outlandishness of the plot ensures that no sane reader will take the story seriously, thankfully so considering that, you know, the protagonist goes around stabbing, running over and burning mostly innocent people to death.

Alvie's an extreme 'love her or hate her' character. I'm surprised by how many reviewers fell into the first category, because as you can probably tell I hated her. The real kicker, in my opinion, is that the author somehow believes that she's written a feminist heroine.

description

I just...what?

Chloé Esposito goes on to say that 'really strict, strident feminists will read it and think Alvie’s a bad feminist because she is using her sexuality to manipulate men.' No, Chloé, she's not a 'bad feminist' because she's using her sexuality; she's a stain on the word 'feminism' and an awful fucking human being because she's a morally bankrupt, megalomaniac murderer.

Everything else is just the icing on a rotten cake. I couldn't care less that Alvie fantasises about every man on two legs, but objectifying men still isn't feminist. Lashing out at people because of mental health issues isn't feminist either. Getting a free pass for murder is certainly not feminist but that's where we are with Alvie. I would hate her just as much whether she was a woman, a man or non-binary because she's simply a deplorable human being.

As a small mitigating factor Bad adds in lots of clunky flashbacks that paint Alvie in a more sympathetic (read: victimising) light, but guess what? Tons of people had shitty childhoods way worse than yours, Alvie, and the vast majority of them aren't going Aileen Wuornos like you. At times it feels like Chloé Esposito herself isn't sure whether she wants us to root for Alvie. The ambiguity does not work in the book's favour. Either you're on board with Alvie's reign of terror or you're not; she doesn't have the depth to be an ambivalent character.

I'll admit that at first the uninhibited craziness is somewhat fun, but after a while the constant cycle of sex, murder and uninspired flashback scenes becomes mind-numbing. And there's a whole lot of all three, especially the sex. I don't know why Bad isn't marketed as erotica because it's way more explicit than I care to read in my thrillers. That the author is, per the interview linked above, aware it's bad sex doesn't make it any more entertaining to read.

With Bad, I thought I'd be getting a psychologically suspenseful retelling of The Talented Mr. Ripley in the vein of Genuine Fraud and Social Creature. Instead, it was more L.S. Hilton's Maestra trilogy. If that's what you want to read, absolutely go for Bad--but if you prefer your protagonists to be people you can support without feeling disgusted, this one's not for you.

Eu adorei o ''Louca'' porque nunca tinha lido nada assim. Isto durante 95% do livro.

After thew first book which I rated 5 stars I was expecting another equal exciting book. Well unfortunately this one wasn't as good, especially the first half of the book. The author kept filling in with unnecessary descriptions, it looked like the imagination was lacking. However the second part was good enough to give it 4 stars, as it captured the essence of the first book.
Very fun read, recommended. I'll be waiting for the third and final book of this trilogy.

The title sums it up perfectly- this was just bad. The first one was pretty fun but this was terrible. It was unbelievable and the main character is just a terrible person that makes it impossible to root for at all. The English teacher in me appreciated the references to Hamlet and Lamb to the Slaughter but that was the only redeeming thing about this book.

Tragikomedija.

M a enervat toata nebunia asta a ei.

Thank you netgalley for this copy. I liked the sound of it and I do read a lot of different types of books and this looked promising. I have to say I have never read anything by this author and I would attempt another book even though I wasn't keen on this one. I got about halfway through then decided I wasn't enjoying it so to give up. And I can honestly say it's not often I give up on a book.i found the story so far fetched it was crazy. Sorry just really didn't like the characters they irritated me. But even though it's not for me it could be ok for you.

Adorei o primeiro livro louca.
