As the younger sister of a famous author, Dominque is used to staying out of the limelight. She doesn't like to be the center of attention, and living a quiet life suits her just fine.
That is until she starts dreaming about men who make her want to peel off her clothes and throw herself at them . . . at ALL of them. This quiet girl is suddenly ravenous to feel their hands on her bare skin, and their mouths as they kiss their way along her spine.
But these warlocks made for battle, trained and hardened against the flames of conflict are not real--they are just figments of her imagination.
She knows that. Yet, these four men who haunt her dreams stretch that believability.
And when her best friend is in a car accident and the men from her dreams show up in real life, offering to help she has a choice to make.
Can she save her friend, and have the men she's literally been dreaming of? Or will she wake and find herself living in a nightmare where she loses everything she loves?
This book was just ok for me. Maybe I was just distracted but I kept getting confused on the characters names and things they were saying. For the first quarter of the book Dominique thinks her magic men are just a hallucination. They are in fact around her to ‘test’ her magic and having sex is one of those ways. They basically tell her they have to have sex to most likely end the connection between them and prove she’s, well, not that special is how I took it lol. Not romantic if you ask me. Dominque is the sister to Ally from book one. I didn’t really remember her being mentioned much and even throughout the book I didn’t really get a sense for her. I definitely didn’t feel the romance and budding relationship between them all. There was a disconnect happening that I don’t feel got resolved in the end. The big mystery of Dominique having magical powers wasn’t all that exciting or surprising. I think her “birth father” being the rival was just wrong, in fact his whole storyline felt like it was added for shock value that never quite culminated. Each character didn’t feel developed enough and so I never really connected with them. The story was just ok for me but the segue into the next book does have me intrigued to continue on.

Yeah, that was awful. Main character was whiney as heck, the love-interests were all the same and didn't even care who was who. The plot of 'oh, this must all be a hallucination' went on for too long. Got to a point where I just kept mocking the main character to keep it fun 🙃
Confusion, Lust, Love Then Betrayals!!😟🔥💘💔💥 A 3.5 Star Read 🌟 Harem of Magic (Stairway to Harem: Book #3)
Ally's younger sister, Dominique, is in an emtional, physical & psychological rut!😔 As Ally was becoming Queen of the Vampire's and finding her happiness, Dom had woken on the bathroom floor with partially healed knife wounds all over her chest & back, she had absolutely no memory of what occurred & it scared her!!😱😢 She never told Ally, only her 'sister from another mister', her bff Rose.😍🌹
Since that incident she'd suffered with lucid dreams about four mean. They always evaded her questions but did say she wasn't dreaming & that they were real. She knew she was messed up from the rejection of a past boyfriend & she was conjuring them to make her feel better about herself.🙏When Rose is in a serious car accident & Dom's four men arrive performing magic to stop more trucks piling into Rose and Dominique, who was there to try & save her, she's stunned!!😲
This was a good story. I felt sorry for Dom.😢 Her scars, especially how she'd received them, & loneliness had really messed with her head!💔 The shocks in store for her were pretty huge but she handled them so well - once she excepted she wasn't hallucinating!🙈 It's steamy, sweet & romantic. I think I'll read Rose's story next!👍💥
This is the third book in the Stairway to Harem series, and you can start to see that it kicks off a major evolution from Paranormal Romance to edge-of-your-seat Urban Fantasy. It is still a harem book, but unlike other RH novels where sex is the focus, the focus of this series is on building unbeatable teams with STRONG heroines at the lead. I recommend this particular book for readers who want a heavy action plot with love thematics at the center but without a lot of open-door sex scenes, even though the sexual confidence and awareness of the heroine is an important plot point.
More great ideas, but sadly underdeveloped, I can't really say I liked this story much or Dominique, great idea for the plot yet again not bough development where the balance between sex and story is barely there... Not really though,I was hoping that unlike her sister Ally or her friend Cassie who both got dropped into this soo suddenly while Dom had been living w/hers for at least a year now I was hoping hers would go more smoothly , aaaa yeah No.... I know Dom, has had a rough go of it but it's like some parts of it are glossed over some how, while others are a HUGE sticking point , the WHOLE the warlocks are just a dream/delusion goes on waaaay to long and this book is under 200 pages, for the longest Dominique is a flaky horny basket case, wanting to stick her fingers in her ears and go lalalalala your just a delusion and the next she's all horny and I know you need such and such too look at my scars it's really important it can we good at it like horny bunnies 1st ? Oooook, and then the next she's kicking them all out because they can't tell her stuff, honestly it was like she really wasn't listening at times and then when she finally takes off to supernatural world that's suddenly opened almost in her own back yard, she's just badass type that seems to go from knowing little to nothing in 2-3 days time and it just some how self teaching herself and is killing seemingly very powerful warlocks While her men mainly sit around and look pretty... Sure they do aid her and there and do help save her life ( I know,) but she mainly just seems to waltz in and take charge while her guys are either lead around by the nose by the baddies or are unwilling pawns... Again some really great ideas , but very underdeveloped and I something I've seen in almost all 3 books that I'm not too crazy about , I'm all for a strong female lead , I don't respect doormats or woman who don't own who they are and aren't willing to fight for or go after what they want and or let the man boss them around and willing to do what ever he says just because he makes their panties damp... buuut at the same time a strong woman needs a strong man, sometimes even stronger ,and as much as a reverse harem is a beloved fantasy of mine ,I'm still not looking for female lead relationships, just because she blessed to be the center of soo many men's love and affection and attention doesn't mean they should all act like whipped puppies, waiting for their mistress's command... Sighs, honestly I was bothered the Dom didn't have a better relationship w/the men after supposedly knowing them soo long and all this illusion/delusion garbage lasted sooo long and when it finally did she seemed to kick butt and take names w/little to no help from them, honestly the "warlocks" felt like little more that F buddies for her, too rushed to form a connection and just felt like lots sex w/a half done plot... Sad but.. I'd only really recommend if you have K you and you've already read the other two and you want to see how the series goes, otherwise your not really missing anything ...
I have to say I was super excited for the harem of witches in Emma Dawn's RH series. I was kinda disappointed by the FMC. There were comments that made me cringe, very immature, entitled, a b word that I won't write out here. I just couldn't get onboard with her unfortunately. I did like her guys, I did like the story and how it was tied with her best friends Rose and her older sister Allie. Some of the parts of the story were predictable but it still was exciting to listen to kept me paying attention during my commutes to work. I will say I love the unicorn part, the jaguar manifestations, and Dom's role at the end. There was a lot of potential to go into details of their powers, the battles, the animal/creatures. I wish there was some expansion, I think it would have elevated this story for me from ok to good or great! I would still recommend the series, but again this was my least favorite of the series.
I thought Aletha did a good job with the narration, especially with some of the accents in this one. I think she brought the story to life again, like she did with Cassie and Allie's books. It was kinda weird when Allie made an appearance and she and Dominque had the exact same voice haha. No biggie, still a good job and I would continue to listen to her works in the future. Solid 4 star performance.
Characters are one dimensional. No world building, no explanation through story telling; instead, readers are told directly what is happening. The connections between this story and the last two stories are not developed well, just mentioned. The entire plot lacked substance. I love Shannon Mayer but find her books typically lack the steam I want. Her stories, worlds and characters are always so well developed, so I was excited to get some steamier stories from her (just under a different name). These stories however, feel like they are characters she thought up briefly and plot lines she just threw together. Like all the throw away characters were just given a book. I am so disappointed. If you are going to read any in this series, read the second one. The characters were better developed. The plot was more interesting but keep in mind that I have not rated any of them above a 3 and the 3 star was more like a 2.7.
This one was a disappointment. The last two were pretty good for me. This one here was rushed and confusing and it felt like it only had 2nd hand knowledge of what happened in the last two books. I don’t think I will read the next one cause I’m anxious it will disappoint me as well. I rushed through the rest of the book in the last quarter just to be done with it. Some odd information dumps and a plot that made it wonder why I cared what was happening. Bad show ole chap bad show.
major character development for heroine +steamy love scenes + deepening worldbuilding
The third book in this universe of standalone novels was a departure from the heroines of book 1 and 2. Here we meet a deeply wounded person struggling with her demons. She had a unique path to carve and it was a a transformational process. I really enjoyed watching the character evolve and develop. As always the loves scenes were steamy. I enjoyed the new magical creatures and the warlocks were a delightful foursome.
I love this series! Ally's sister, Dominique had so much tragedy and drama in her life...she actually thought she was crazy. There were so many secrets kept from her. But the four men in her dreams over the last year were more than she could have hoped for. When she found they were real and their destinies all intertwined, her world changed in ways she couldn't imagine. Love the HEA's for our heroines!
It was enjoyable, but not as good as the first two
I honestly didn't care for this one as well as the first two in the series. It felt rushed, which I know in the getting busy department all of these books go quickly, but the story just didn't feel as well thought out. I still enjoyed it though and appreciated how it tied into the others. I'm hoping the next one will be better again.
First off, let me say that this author really knows how to pull together a sex scene. This is a Reverse Harem, so no surprises that there are scenes of intimacy. They are really well done, and were probably the most interesting part of the book.
However, character development seems to be lacking. I found it difficult to really get emotionally involved in Dominque and her harem of men.
The ending was a bit anticlimactic, and in general this book didn’t really do much for me.
The story is good. I love the character of Dominique. She's sassy, tough but sensitive, and the love she has for her sisters is too strong, though she's always horny. Haha. And though the story didn't have enough romance in it, it is steamy enough... But i still feel like the story is a bit lacking, especially that the end is too rushed. It could have been better. But then again, it is worth reading of and well written. 😊
I've really been enjoying this series - each of the MCs are strong women, there is some interesting world building, and the intimate scenes are steamy. However, there are some issues with plot holes or super convenient events/explanations that seem rushed, and this book in particular has some grammatical errors.
That being said, I'll continue on reading to finish the series and how the next book is a bit more impressive.
What a great story! This book has so many poignant moments about love, understanding and acceptance. This series of books just keeps getting better. Although this is a standalone story, it does reference the previous books and reading them first is my recommendation - besides they were great stories too!
Once again ms. Emma dawn u did not disappoint me. Loved how Dominque found her magic and the twists and turn. Even though I thought of my friend Peta when her and the canals magic takes shape as a leopard. Cant wait to read harem of spirit. Thanks for another amazing book
This was my first introduction to a reverse harem. I’m a big fan of paranormal fiction and this book delivered. With magic, vampires, fairies and unicorns all in one book I got my paranormal parts. Then add in a 30-something heroine and a hot romance times four. This was much more than I expected, but exactly what I wanted. Can’t wait for the next book!
Dom is lonely after her sister moved out and after she was attacked last year in an incident that she has no memory of that left her with horrible scars. Rose is Dominique's best friend and has been trying to help her after her attack. This series is great. The plot is fantastic and you cant help but Dom. Read this series!!!
Harem of Magic, a stand-alone in the the Stairway to Harem series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Meh, the sex factor was high, but I would have enjoyed more relationship development and more tension between the characters to enhance the plot. A good read, but I found myself starting to skip the sex to connect with the story line.
So this book surprised me by having more of a storyline & even backstory then the other two books. Plus having met the 4 guys in her dreams for a year they had a real connection before jumping into the Reverse harem lol.
The book went by really fast I will definitely be diving into the next & last book if this series!
absolutely loved it. Reverse Harem that is filled with action, intrigue and mystery. So far the best one in this series. Caught my imagination from the beginning and was not able to stop reading till I got to the end.
The third book of series and each one is really good and getting better! I loved it! Amazing blast of magic and power! Strong heroine finding her magic through connection with 4 men! I loved that is not just RH but good storyline full of Supernatural power and a bit of sex.
Dominique's dream world comes to life...her adventure was fun. Her character was a little flat as far as hang ups, and motivation. I did enjoy the main premise of the story. Lots of hot sex, great for a summer read by the pool.
This series has everything you could want. A strong MC who is hilarious as well as an adult woman, an amazing supernatural story line and some very caliente love interests
Enjoyed this book a lot more. Dominique was a bit irritating and seemed a bit crazy in this book but she grew on me. Her Cabal of course are hot. This had more action and background. Do love how the other stories from the previous books are in here too. Will read the next one!
Dominique and her guys were quite the match. I have to admit I fell in love with them by her descriptions for all four of them. She claimed her sister was the writer but she was wrong. She could be a writer as well. Really fun story.
Really enjoyed this book. This series is so good, I am really enjoying discovering more about each woman as we learn their story in each book. I loved that Dom's men all embraced her and her scars even when she couldn't.
So far out of all the stories I liked hers the least. She just wasn’t a likable fmc and that tempered with the mental health “cray” theme… just nope. It brought the story further but was close to dnf at 50%.
