With four premierships, 329 games and a Brownlow Medal, Sam Mitchell is a true AFL legend. Written off early as 'too short, too fat and too slow' to make the AFL, Sam's sharp football brain, keen instincts and relentless drive would make him a champion. He debuted for Hawthorn in 2002 and, by 2008, had captained the club to its first flag in 17 years. Three consecutive premierships followed for the Hawks in 2013-15, with Sam forming the lynchpin of the 'Team of the Century'.But on - and off - the field, Sam always kept people guessing. His candid autobiography answers the riddle of his unique enigma and takes us behind all the big moments of blood, sweat, tears and glory from a career that etched Sam's name into Australian Rules history as 'a player like no other'.RELENTLESS is an extraordinary book - as honest, original and entertaining as Sam Mitchell himself.

As a Hawks supporter of many years who has seen most of Sam's games, reading this book was an emotional but highly enjoyable experience. It certainly helped mr understand the man behind the player. I highly recommended it to any budding footballer, even if they don't follow the mighty Hawks. If he takes all his attributes as a player into his new life as a coach, I can see nothing but success for him. Well done, and good luck, Sam.

AFL player Sam Mitchell’s autobiography telling of his award winning football career from beginning at Hawthorn we he won multiple premierships to finishing up at West Coast Eagles (my favourite team) by playing one final year and moving into assistant coaching. A champion player, embraced fully by his old club and his new one. Sam’s hard style of being captain and player showed his fighting spirit and always play to the final siren attitude which didn’t always sit well with his teammates.

Loved every second of this book. Its amazing how hard Mitchell worked to get where he eventually got. A true underdog story. Much better that Hodgys effort.

This is well worth a read. An exceptional player, and I'm glad he is now a coach.
