Hi! My name is Margaret and I write for the small and smaller screens.

I live in Southern California, where I torment the other members of the Bookburners writing team with weather reports and brace myself for the earthquake that will turn Burbank into oceanfront property.

In addition to the books in my profile you can also find my work on The Middleman (ABC Family), Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix 2019), and The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

“Crossing Over” picks up directly where “Into the Woods” leaves off. There goes my hypothesis about a stand alone episode. Oh, well. As it happens, I’m glad “Crossing Over” went where it did.
Ashanti and Frances are desperately trying to prevent whatever Hannah set into motion, and the rest of Team Three wastes no time in getting to London to help. Only, will Ashanti want their assistance? What’s her status with Team Three going to be now?

Crossing Over balances both plot development and character development. Plot wise, Hannah’s just enacted her grand scheme, setting lose a being known as the “City Eater.” I don’t know exactly what that thing is, but the name is hella scary. Meanwhile, Menchú’s just found out that Ashanti’s secretly resurrected Team Four, and that fact has to be addressed.

We also got to see more of Frances and Perry this week, which I enjoyed. Perry’s been making all sorts of appearances lately (and his perspective on things is fascinating), but we haven’t gotten to see as much of Frances. It’s obviously not the focus in “Crossing Over,” but I’ve noticed some possible romantic tension between her and Liam. Or at least on Liam’s side anyway. I’m not sure if it’s mutual. But now that Team Four has been revealed, a wrench’s been thrown into that possibility. I bet we will see this explored more, but probably not until next season. Same goes with Grace and Sal.

Team Three currently has bigger problems than romantic entanglements. You know, the “City Eater”? The episode ended on enough of a cliffhanger that I’m not sure I can wait another week…

I received an ARC in exchange for a free and honest review.

First off, Margaret Dunlap's writing is a thing of beauty. None of the authors this series are anything less than good, but there are some who are exceptional and she is definitely one of them.

With the actions of Ashanti's group finally out in the open - well, as open as Team Three - we're clearly starting to move towards an end game. And the most immediate threat might well be the most intimidating they've faced so far.

Definitely an enjoyable entry, but one I should have waited to read when the next was available...

Crossing Over episode 11 in Max Gladstone's Bookburners series. Now at season 3. This series written by a group of rotating authors. Each book written by an author from this group. Season 3 book 1 was my start to this series. One book read and I was hooked. Not only for future books but a need to read ALL of seasons 1 & 2. The series storyline is ongoing from book to book and revolves around The Societas Librorum Occultorum—Vatican-backed black-ops anti-magic squads— defends humanity against dangerous disturbances...magical/evil and The Orb—warns of these certain dangerous disturbances. Each book, a very quick read with very big story. Lots of action, suspence, clever twists and turns. Great detail and depth. I received this book from Serial Box Publishing through NetGalley. I am voluntarily posting this review. The books, series is Well Worth your reading time!!!
