Meet The Slate Brothers. Each One A Football Star. Each One Sexy, Rough And Completely Untamed. A standalone romance with a guaranteed HEA Sebastian Slate is everything I’m Privileged athlete. Arrogant sex-machine. Ruthless heartbreaker. When I came to Berkfield University, I vowed to stay away from men like him. Men who think they can toy with women, use them as playthings and then discard them like empty cups of beer after one of their obnoxious parties. But then I actually meet Sebastian Slate up close and personal. Before I know it, my body is responding to him despite knowing how wrong it is. And even more shocking is the fact that he actually seems to notice me back. It’s as if everything in my universe has been turned upside down. All the things I thought were important, I’m turning away from. And all of the things I thought I hated, I actually want. Like Sebastian Slate, the super-confident football hero who walks around this entire college like it’s his personal playground. It turns out that I’ll give up everything, all of my hopes and dreams and values, simply to be touched by his dirty, rough hands. Just to feel his lips all over my body. Just to be snapped, once and for all….
Harper James writes about love. Her debut young adult novel, Fight for her is available now on Amazon and Nook. Her second release, Break Me, is a new adult romance that can also now be purchased. Both of her books are part of stand alone series that will be contined soon!
She is also the wife of a rock star, the mother of the two greatest babies ever made, and a die hard Modern Family fan.
Sebastian and Ashlynn started out fast with each other. It was inta love connection. Which sometimes makes you want to roll you eyes at. The plot of the story is what made this book. I feel if I tell you about it I'll to much away. I wish there was more to this story.
Honestly, this book was extremely disappointing. The main girl, I already forgot her name which just shows how memorable she is, is pathetic. Her love interest is the son of the man who is believed to have killed her Aunt, and what does she do? has sex with him of course. She 'tells' herself it's wrong, and tries to 'resist' him, but really she has no backbone and gives in the moment he touches her and never once tries to stay away. Of course he doesn't know who she really is, and once he does, SHE IS THE ONE FUCKING RUNNING AFTER HIM TO APOLOGIZE. EVEN THOUGH HIS DAD KILLED HER AUNT. Everything she does is completely dependent on him and it makes me sick to my stomach. The icing on the cake is him having sex with her on a bench in the middle of a party and then telling her he thinks he is in love with her, and of course she thinks it's the most romantic moment ever. I honestly do not even know how I made it through this novel.

The whole thing the mystery regarding the aunt and the hero's father only annoyed me and did not hold my attention which I think was the intention. Bottom line I was not crazy about the aunt's story line. I just did not care. (Loc 14%)
I love the heroines that live quiet lives and work in coffee shops, but this heroine annoyed me. She was a bit too judgmental and I did not like the "deal" she made regarding getting back at the football players. (Loc 17%)
It had such a great premise/beginning with the heroine delivering pizzas to a college party and running into the hero, but then the heroine's inner thoughts came out and she just annoyed me!
I could not connect with the story or the characters. The flow of the story and verbiage felt awkward. You may disagree and love it. Reading is subjective. This is my opinion.
I actually liked the concept of the book, however the execution is a bit messy.
I really liked the start, their chance meeting and everything. But there wasn't much going on in this story besides the sex and the heroine having a dilemma in her head...
It didn't seem at all romantic, but the characters do have chemistry. The plot line with the dad and the pending case didn't have an ending so I guess that will continue on the next brothers book.
Plus, where the conflict and basis of the story should be, it wasn't highlighted much. It would have helped if we have the hero's perspective of things to add color to the story, cause the heroines was just 'meh'.
I know this is fiction but it was a little hard to believe a football star would fall into insta-love with a young girl wearing a pig nose and covered in pizza grease. I felt like the author dropped the ball by not letting us know the outcome of Sebastian's father. His story was such a big part of the book and then..nothing. Kind of disappointing!
Two hearts, one nasty murder case involving a high pro file football star and his stud son, meet the shy pre law student who's also the niece of the victim. Two hearts a strong love but can they survive fighting the opposite sides of a tragic story? Will they come together or be torn apart?
The h is absolutely pathetic! I never did this, I never did that, I don’t know how. She’s annoying, indecisive, clumsy, and just flat out cliche. I swear, I hate h’s like her!!! She’s also a hypocrite. She says all these bad things about the H’s dad for having an affair with her aunt, but doesn’t criticize her aunt for sleeping with a man she knew was married!
I’m still confused on why he liked her? He hands her his jersey to wear within minutes of meeting her and it’s like BAM he’s fallen... didn’t really make sense. Especially when we learn he never gives girls his jersey to wear. Sex scenes were on point! Who killed her aunt? Did we learn that? Did I miss that?
Sigh. The writing is quite good. Eloquent. Typos and errors abound, and the plot is just sooooo rushed and weak. Heroine is a bit of a Mary Sue. I wish she'd get a new editor and not rush into the insta love.
It took me a while to warm to Sebastian. Still a quick, easy read. Is it weird that I'm starting to want more about the football in these kinds of books? Haha. I'm obvs barking up the wrong tree but the heart wants what it wants eh?
Total smut but I knew that going into it. It was actually pretty entertaining for a book that was just sex with a side dish of plot. I've certainly read MUCH worse wiring in the same sub-genre. Like a lot of self-published books the occasional typo or missing word was appeared, I survived these events.
Wow I really enjoyed SNAPPED a great story line so different to other sports romance books I have read recently. Can't wait to read the next in the series of the slate brothers
Great college football love story. This one has a twist though. I think this will be a great series as we find out if Dennis Slate did it. Can't wait to start the next book!
This is my first time reading this author. I really enjoyed the book and would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for all the grammar and spelling errors .
This was okay, neither like able or unlikeable. The H/h weren't anything new, or particularly memorable. She wants to stay away from the jock manwhore fb player, he sees, he wants, he takes... blah blah blah.
But I'm intrigued to see what happens with the dad, so I'll keep reading the series.
I really enjoyed reading a classic sports romance with a twist. No stepped up as the love interest nor a coach's. She wasn't the nerd, the outcast, or the atypical body type. But, there were so many errors, the type autocorrect really shouldn't have corrected. Otherwise I would have rated this book higher.
I enjoyed reading this book good story looking forward to the next book in the series...hope we continue to find out about the looming issue of their father...and the relationship between Sebastian and Ashlynn.
