I enjoy helping people market themselves and their ideas. That passion is coming to life through the books I write and the online classes I teach.
My first book, That's a Bullseye, is a step-by-step guide for building marketing campaigns. With over 20 years of marketing experience in corporate America, I figured that would be a good place for me to start my writing journey.
Since publishing that book, I've published 5 more, all of which help people get the jobs they want.
I'm currently turning my books into online classes and helping other writers publish their own books. You can learn more about what I'm doing at AmazingJobSkills.com.
I purchased this book not for use as an interviewee, but an interviewer. I wanted to learn better ways to meet with potential employees and assess their potential. I learned that, as well as seeing the positive, thoughtful answers can be a benefit to any business interaction, as well as personal interactions. From that standpoint, it's an excellent, effective book.
That said, if I interviewed someone and all of their answers were this polished, they would seem almost too perfect for the job. This would leave me wondering where and when the fatal flaw would appear, and actually hesitate to hire them over someone with strong, but not 100% perfect answers. As with all of life, balance is key.
Genuinely really helpful and good information! The only thing I'll criticize is the authoritative tone. Ultimately, interviews are subjective, and different people will look for different things in candidates.
While the book goes over what can be considered best practices, there were a few times throughout the book where the author said things like "Interviews don't care about X, they want to hear Y" or "Never answer a question this way, because it will be interpreted as ____", which feel like absurdly general blanket statements.
My personal favourite was when he said answers should never be longer than 2 minutes. A fair rule of thumb I guess, but I've been in interviews that ask 5-10 questions over the span of an hour - you're telling me I should aim to be done in fewer than 20 minutes?
I love this book of 44 tough interview questions and 88 winning and amazing sample answers! So extremely helpful! This author gives excellent advice - do’s and don’ts - for job interviews in any field! He outlines 6 different kinds of questions and sample responses to help candidates become well prepared for anything that might be asked and how to respond. His extremely helpful Workbook Section encourages needed practice and support! This is a must-read book for anyone in job search mode!
This book did exactly what it set out to do, list 44 interview questions and provide answers for them. Then you reach the mid point of the book and it proceeded to run through them again and provide another set of answers.
I expected more of the book, than just that. Most of the questions seemed to be niche to certain fields. You go from the "tell me about yourself" to "sell me this pen".
This guide provides many examples of common Interview questions and appropriate responses. The examples are realistic and I’ve used them to secure another role (the tip about practicing your interviews really help)
