I read the comic books Webspinners: Tales of Spider-Man #1-18. This is a little gem of a series, 7 stories spread across 18 issues from high school prom through to current times. The mega-must reads are Rurik Tyler's Vulture crime spree, J.M. DeMatteis near-genius deconstruction of Mysterio, and one of the best Spider-Man story I've ever read, Paul Jenkins truly genius Chameleon's last stand as he first attacks and then pleads for help from Spider-Man. I cannot stress how much quality (all three are Five Star reads) is in the three stories I've mentioned. A must-read for not just Spider-Man fans and but fans of great fiction. Three Stars, 7 out of 12 overall though. 2014 read
This one is terribly hard to review because about half the book/series is amazing and the other half is pretty bland and mediocre. The DeMatteis, Jenkins, and DeFalco stories are great, imo!
Mostly boring stories with low-quality art. I liked "The Kiss," where Peter reminisces about his last date with Gwen (the day before she died), "The Bridge, Part 3," "Chameleon's Final Revenge," and "Perchance to Dream," where Peter wrestles with the guilt of many who've died during his career as Spider-Man.
Quentin Beck is the absolute best in the first three issues (his only appearance unfortunately in this collection) and I gotta say it’s my favorite rendition of him and his alter ego, Mysterio. To be honest, 1-3 and 11-12 were the only issues worth reading since I didn’t find myself enjoying the ones that came before and after them…
