Am I the only one who finds The Morrigan adorable? I'm giving this 4 stars because I haven't seen all three parts of her for a while.
"Beware the honest, they will hurt you just to feel clean."
Read this if you like: bloody graphic novels, London, modern gods and their pantheons, teenagers with god complexes (?), rock and roll, seemingly unending plot twists and turns
I feel like I'm sort of shooting myself in the foot by reading each issue as they come out because this arc really seems like it needs to be read all at once since it feels so disjointed each time I come back to a new one. I think once it finishes I'll go back and read it as a volume and see if it flows better.
I did like Dionysus's part of this issue as he took a stand (or a seat) to the Morrigan and found more than her in the underground. Also, I have no idea what's going on in that messed up relationship between Persephone and Sakhmet but I'm really not a fan of how she behaves when she's with Sakhmet. Although maybe I'm just biased because I liked her relationship with Baal.
At the end of this issue in the author's notes they said this issue took place on the weekend and everything goes down on the Monday after so I'm assuming the next issue will be full of big surprises and climatic moments, or at least I really hope so. I'm looking forward to their massive show and the gods actually acting like gods! The little blurb of the next issue sounds hilarious and the sarcasm is clear when they say everything continues to be lovely for the gods!
I mean, I love the “sitting trial” trope (wherein a character remains in an enclosed space while things appear that try to get them to leave, and they have to persevere in order to succeed), so of course I was going to like this issue. And there was quite a lot of Morrigan/Baphomet stuff, so that’s also a plus.
Lots of character stuff, but feels a bit scattered. One of those very business-y issues. Still, I do like that we get to see everyone, but those final two beats felt a little abrupt.
