Stella James is a Canadian indie author of the romance variety. She enjoys reading, yoga and fitness, a good rosé and the occasional beer (because, Canada). She currently resides on a small acreage with her husband and three young daughters.
Logan and Prairie's love for each other absolutely pours from Stella James' words in Bluebird. This is a beautifully written intense story of young love, second chance love, and the power love. It is a great read, and I can't wait to read more from Stella James!
So I went into Bluebird blind, and it was beyond what I was expecting.
I thought it was just going to be some sweet second chance romance. Maybe a farm or a small town thrown in there for good measure. Well it was that, but it came with a deeper emotional depth than I was anticipating. I don't want to say much, because I think the way this one unravels adds to the stories eventual happenings.
A well written read. If you're looking for a combo of sweet first love and angsty second chance romance, then Bluebird is your story.
*Sidenote - have I ever mentioned that Stella James is top notch at her epilogue game? Well she is. She. Is.
Oh my world!! This is a very unique and beautiful love story. A second chance romance. Two young lovebirds who were torn apart at such an early age. And both endure life's mishaps. Broken and fighting to survive they reunite. Their love for each other is greater then the turmoil life was thrown at them. I am so glad to read the epilogue and a second epilogue to know these two find life's happiness they both deserve. Great story!!
This book completely blew me away! While the cover of this book is sweet and innocent, reading what is behind the cover is emotional and angsty. And I absolutely loved every minute of this book! I have read every book by this author and loved them all, but I will tell you that Bluebird is an entirely different book than what Stella usually writes. Of course her usual talent for writing is there even though this story is darker than her norm. Stella James in my opinion stepped outside the box and did it beautifully. This book has all the feels. There were moments that brought tears to my eyes and there are moments that made me smile. There are also moments that had my heart pumping wildly and I had some panicky moments too. And yes, I admit to a possible, (not actually admitting ;) ) throw my Kindle moment.
Prairie and Logan.......
These two characters totally belong together. Their connection is strong and magnetic from the very moment they lock eyes on one another. Prairie was a character that I absolutely loved. In fact, even at such young age I can say that she is one of the strongest heroines I have read this year. Of course she was sweet and innocent but she was also loyal, caring and loving. I loved how she saw the absolute best in Logan when he couldn’t even see that in himself. It only took a few moments before Prairie became Logan’s everything and Logan became hers.
Prairie and Logan met in high school and become inseparable. They planned a future together the way that only teenagers can. But something happens that tears it all apart.
Five years later gives Prairie and Logan a second chance. I will not go into specifics, I will not say anything to spoil this book for you. However I will tell you it is definitely a must read!
As the author states in the blurb this book has triggers. There were some horrible situations that I did not see coming. There is definitely a happily-ever-after. In addition there is more than one epilogue which adds even more to the HEA. Again, I'll say I totally recommend this book as a must read.
Another great book that I'll be thinking about for a long time!
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it.
What a story! Prairie is the kind of woman I would love to know in my life, she’s confident and caring to those near and dear to her. Logan has been delt a bad hand in his early years but as he grows as a man you can’t help but be proud of the man he’s trying to become for her. Their story is a beautifully written and has personality brought me through a mess of emotions throughout the read. I’ve had tears in my eyes followed by moments where I’m holding my breath with the events unfolding before my reading eyes to completely swooning and cheering with again tears in my eyes but the happier ones. I’ve read other work by this author before and the style of her writing just pulls you in and consumes you, you don’t want the story to end ever. If you can’t tell by know I LOVED this story and I believe you will too. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
You know you’re in for a ‘one-sitting read’ when it takes less than the authors first fifty, beautiful words, to paint a picture so vivid; you’re instantly transported, and you too exist in the world their characters live. You also know instinctively that your heart is going to get a little banged around, but regardless, you stubbornly hang on with both hands.
Bluebird is absolutely one of those reads.
I was there, right there, with Prairie & Logan, and it stole my breath. Their story filled my heart, and unapologetically blocked any thoughts from my mind that didn’t belong to them and only them.
Beautifully heartbreaking & heartbreakingly beautiful, I could see everything they could see & I could feel everything they were feeling.
There’s a soul-touching poetry to this story, one that needs to be read to be understood. Any review, even with the addition of spoiler-like details, will not do it justice. You have to experience it.
Bluebird is so much more than a love story, it is quite simply, everything.
I loved this book so much, Stella James, you had me with all the feels and then some. Honestly, I was worried in the beginning but you came up to bat and hit a walk-off—left me shouting, there’s my Stella James! Bluebird left my eyes swollen, happy and wanting more. Logan and Prairie will forever be my own two bluebirds; and you’ll forever be my one-click author. Readers, if you haven’t read a Stella James book. Do it. Do it now! She’ll melt your heart with her love-for-words.
This story is beautiful and achy and sweet in just the right doses. Prairie and Logan are the perfect second chance romance. I can’t describe it, but it really feels like a real love story. It is heartbreaking in parts. I definitely cried, so make sure you’re in the mood for a good sob. I loved every minute of this book.
Ugh. This book burrowed into all my feels and stayed there throughout every page. I absolutely fell hard for Prairie and Logan's story. If two kids had ever been dealt a bad hand it was these two. I was just praying it didn't have that doom and gloom ending most coming of age books do, I was not prepared to bawl my eyes out at 1am. Praise the tiny moses this book had everything I wanted and more! Simply glorious to read and I was so happy with how Stella James weaved the gritty story-line around two people who just fell in love and never fell out of love despite time and circumstances. Ugh, my feels. Gorgeous.
Don't you even tell me I can't fall for the 'bad guy'!! Cause I absolutely will. Who do I campaign to for ZAVIER KANE's book? I'm willing to beg. This guy, omg, this guy! That sexy, bossy mofo! He didn't have much page time, but when he did he completely captivated my eyeballs. Mama needs more, please and thank you, because I feel there's more to him than meets the bad guy eye.
Absolutely loved. This. Book. The story is strong and moving, written so well, we move through time flawlessly. The book had me smiling, my eyes welling up, my heart racing and all the things I love about Stella's writing. This is her best book yet, loved it!
I had a feeling I was going to love this story. And I was right. Prairie and Logan's story completely stolen my heart from the first chapter. I have a terrible habit of starting a new book knowing that I have a paper due that same day. Grades be damned, Bluebird is just one of those books that I had to read and nothing could stop me as I finish reading their beautiful story.
So there I was reading of Prairie and Logan falling in love with each other, and being outraged at the injustice done to Logan, to being heartbroken when tragedy strikes; all while sitting in front of a blank page and ignoring texts from @ash.loveofbooks probably telling me to write my paper.
If that doesn't tell you how amazingly captivating this story is I don't know what will. Seriously, read it.
Stella has once again not disappointed us at all. I am a huge fan and have read everything that this amazing author has written and I can tell you that this might be her best work yet, and I don't like playing favorites. I absolutely could not put this book down, I was drawn in from the very first page. While looking at the cover, you would expect the perfect, sweet romance, there is angst and raw emotion that bleeds off the page that gets you right in the feels. This couple go through so much, it breaks your heart and yet they manage to find a way back to each other. Thier love is a gritty yet a real, true love that might not be all hearts and flowers but is real in a way that you can connect to. This is my honest and unbiased review.
This is a 10-star book. It is romance perfection and I cannot recommend it enough.
I knew from the first "Always," this book would break my heart. And it did. But it redeemed me as well. James took me inside Prairie's and Logan's hearts and I felt what they felt - the highs and the lows. It was a beautiful journey that made me swoon and cringe and cry, but I am nothing but grateful that I got to take the trip in the first place. This book is a triumph.
Puts me in mind of other terrific angsty romances with uplifting endings, like Sacred Hart by A.M. Johnson, A Field Guide to Catching Crickets by A. Wilding Wells and Alexa Crushed/Alexa Loved by T.R. Cupak.
I was hooked from the first page of this awesome book.
The story is about the unfortunate circumstances of two young adults, Logan and Prairie, who's lives are linked by chance. Attending the same school and falling in such deep love; it sucked my soul in. I felt the purity of their devotion and the struggle of how to keep hold of each other, when events take over their lives is palpable. My heart squeezed and my stomach flipped. I can easily remember those feelings at that age.
The book is well written and flows along beautifully; it gives you all the feelings and drama, enough to keep you turning the pages .
This is my first book by Stella James but I will be looking up her other work for sure.
Where do I start with this review. This book was so GOOD!! It gave me so many feels! It made my heart race and ache at other times. This one made cry and I absolutely LOVED it so much! I've loved all of this writer's work but I think this one is my favourite so far!
From the sweetest and oh so sexy Logan to the lovely Prairie, these two had my heart. I was rooting for them from the very beginning. I loved the progression of this book. Not only is it a young love romance, it's also a second chance romance. Stella James did such a fantastic job at making me fall in love with her characters. I was invested in this story since the very first page and I have to attribute that to the writing. LOVED IT!!
Amazing and beautifully written Stella! I love young love! I love true love! And l love second chances! Prairie & Logan was all that and more, this had heart and heartache! This made me happy, sad and crying so much, but all those epilogues made me cry harder, in a good way though! Gotta say l have loved all of Stella's books but think this has taken a bit of my heart! This is a must read!!
I'm definitely giving this book five STARS! It’s such a beautiful and tender story that I highly recommend you all go PRE-ORDER NOW! One of my favorite topics - second chance romance, and Bluebird by Stella James didn't let me down. It really is an amazing story that left me crying a few times, but by the end I was truly happy for these characters! @ keep on the good work and I’ll keep on reading it💙💛💙
The feels. I expected them with the warnings and the blurb explaining it was a second chance romance and the history involved but man. Oh. Man!!
I loved this story! I felt connected to Prairie right away and wanted her and Logan to find happiness together. There were ups and downs but it all felt real and honest and their romance felt so damn tangible I found I couldn’t put the book down till I made sure they were each happy! So good.
Bluebird is the first book I have read by Stella James and it will not be my last! I loved this alot! This was a little emotional and angsty at times but it was a beautiful second chance romance, which happens to be one of my favorite tropes and this did not disappoint! I loved Logan and Prairie so much! They had such a strong connection, they were perfect for each other! This is a must read!
A small town romance blossoms into so much more. Stella James has once again created something meaningful and a great read.
Sometimes people are meant to be together, life gets in the way and they’re torn apart, but fate has a different idea and pulls them back together. This book shown that love will be tested, but in the end all will be right.
“You and me.” “Always.”
A heart warming and a beautiful book to get lost in.
This is my first Stella James book and it won't be my last. First off, the cover is beautiful. As soon as I saw it, the book went on my tbr list. There are some heavy plotlines and underlying angst, but overall their love felt so sweet and pure. I missed some sleep because I couldn't put it down.
"I want you to know the truth because that´s what it means when you love someone, I think. You show them all the parts of yourself that you don´t think are very nice and they love you anyways. The good and the bad." I absolutely love when a book captures the essency of a young love. The strengh, the intensity, the scary part of it, the good part of it... Everything. And that´s exatcly what this book brings to the reader on the first part of it, Our Past. It brings all the feels. All you want to do is cheer for them. Even though you know something really bad is about to happen and they´re going to be driften apart, all you want to do is enjoy every single moment and emotion that Prairie and Logan share together and treasure it inside of your heart. The best thing that this author creates in terms of their relationship is how they complete each other. When Logan is bursting in anger, Prairie is right there to ease and bring peace to him. When Prairie is feeling insecure, Logan is there to assure her that every single part of her being is beautiful and perfect. And, for me, there´s nothing more beautiful and sweet to read than that. The love. The treasure. And then comes part 2... "Time means nothing, circumstances mean nothing. When the person you´ve given your heart to is standing so close after so long, nothing else seems to matter." After my heart shattered a little, I was ready to read this. And after all the sweeteness, love, fights and everything else that could come in their way, I must say that Stella James disappointed me here... I didn´t like the drama that she put in there. The vilain.. Totally unnecessary for me. I didn´t like the way that Prairie handled the things that happened to her. I was expecting more development when it came to her feelings towards that event. I didn´t like how Logan became. How helpless he felt all the time and so on... And I completely didn´t like their reencounter. How fast both of them forgave each other and jumped into a relationship all over again with all the lies and secrets. But, overall, I must say that Bluebird was a good book. "I´ll love you, Prairie Bennet, until the day I die", he vows. "And even then, I won´t stop. Nothing could keep my heart from belonging to you... not even death."
Where do I even start with this book? I was pulled in right away. The characters were easily relatable and I adored them. Pretty sure at times I was so pulled in I felt like Prairie herself.
I was blown away with how much I throughly enjoyed this book. It has all of the aspects I love. I’m a sucker for a love story and even second chances. There were some situations in it that had my jaw hanging open and crying at the same time. There is a innocence about both characters and their development that left me wanting more at the end.
Prairie was everything to me. She symbolized everything we were as young girls. Facing the words and judgment of others, falling in love that first time, and everything in between. The angst she felt for so many years poured out in this story and made me feel so much.
Logan seemed to have no future and I begged for the author to let this character have a chance- even though everything was stacked against him. I’ve always thought some people were just born with strong integrity and Logan was a prime example. He is totally swoon worthy.
This story was unexpectedly amazing. I wish we could have a series with these characters I loved them so much.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I could not put it down. It was so good that I read it straight through. Prairie and Logan gave each other hope, but when Logan let anger take over he lost what little hope he had left. I didn't like the twist of what happened to Prairie and wish I had a heads up that it was a part of this book. I did like the fact that she didn't let it get the best of her. Yes you don't see her struggle in the aftermath. The book fast forwards to the present, so you see a strong confident young lady choosing to live her life different then how she planned. Logan on the other hand let's his circumstances lead him into doing more wrong. He figures he has no choice. In some ways he doesn't since the "boss" dictates what he has to do. I really liked that they author gave us the progression in the relationship with the epilogue. I will definitely be reading this author again.
Bluebird was the first novel I have read from the author Stella James and I love it!! The second chance romance was amazing, so beautifully well written. It captured my heart in a instant.
Logan and Prairie's love was written in the stars it seemed. From the day they seen each other they felt a connection that no one could penetrate.
"Nothing could keep my heart from belonging to you..not even death."
Gahhhh!! Logan was intense and sweet my heart melted with how much passion they had for each other. Their love was timeless..
Logan the tortured boy who falls for Prairie, a beautiful girl that sees all the good inside of him. Logan never imagined he would find a love so innocent as Prairie. She's able to reach into Logan's soul and calm the storm he keeps inside of him.
Logan welcomes the sweet calmness that Prairie brings and the need is there to be a better version of himself for her.
But it only takes one night and one wrong choice to ruin everything..
Bluebird is a romance you should definitely read it has all the feels.. you look for in a novel.
Stella James’ Bluebird will pull you in instantly. A teenager with anger issues and the girl who sees the good in him is only the beginning. We’re taken on a journey where hope and faith would’ve understandably been stripped away from both characters and yet, love overcomes. This ride was an emotional one, Prairie’s life took a rough turn when she finally got out of town, and the anger that resides in Logan doesn’t disappear when he again sees Prairie. The way these issues are handled just shares such a connection between character and reader, along with some suspense and comedy from a few side characters. If you’ve never read Stella James before Bluebird is a great book for your first read.
