A small colony on a remote planet suddenly finds itself cut off from the rest of the human occupied galaxy. Can they survive, or would anarchy take over? And what happens when suddenly they find themselves a part of humanity once again.
Having escaped from the ruins of her home world, Echo finds herself without a future path when her partner Ben is lost in action and presumed dead. Determined to join the war effort, she sets out for the military academy, only to have her ship waylaid. When she escapes from the ships attackers, she finds herself on a lost world, fighting with a small group of rebels against a regime which holds the population is virtual slavery.
In a society cowed by subjugation and without weapons, she searches for a way to lead a small band of rebels to free the population and return the lost colony to the Federation, and to freedom. And always, she continues her quest to find what happened to Ben.
Whilst "Dark World" is part of a series, it is a complete, stand alone novel. An action / adventure story with just a hint of romance, it is science fiction space opera set on a distant colonial planet in the far distant future.
Grab your copy now, and join in the amazing journey of this brave, resourceful young heroine.
Mike Waller is an Australian Author of Science Fiction and Space Opera. Mike has always believed that one day humanity will outgrow its troubled childhood and head for the stars, and that the story of humankind will be told not by the great and powerful, but by the adventures of ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Mike currently lives on the Sunshine Coast in Australia.
I can't describe this better than this: "Whilst "Dark World" is part of a series, it is a complete, stand alone novel. An action / adventure story with just a hint of romance, it is science fiction space opera set on a distant colonial planet in the far distant future."
With a strong heroine, a good solid sci-fi plot, this was a winner for this genre which I seldom dive into. However, it was also a first for me to read anything from this Australian author, Mike Waller. I dare say, it won't be the last.
This is actually the second book in the series, and I think it is even better than the first 'Solitude's End'. Easyto read, consistent and with no grammatical errors. A good read.
Great story please do more cannot wait to read the next book don't be to long love your books please let. me know when it comes out at briancooperhappy@hotmail.com.
No cliffhangers here, this book rocks! Although I was unable to read the first in the series, I was still able to read this book as a stand-alone story. The beginning gives a short synopsis of the previous book, enough to grasp the main characters. The writing is smooth and well expressed with little to interfere with reading enjoyment. I also enjoyed the scrappy female lead and her innovative ideas of how to stay ahead of the pirates. I also enjoyed the details of the spacecraft. I bought this book expecting a good space story and I got it!
I love a well done sci-fi story that stars a string kick-a** heroine. Echo Bourke, the star of Mike Waller’s Echo's Way books, definitely fits that description. I just binge read the first three of these books, Solitude's End, Dark World and Enemy Ally. They are stand-alone stories but need to be read in sequence as the backstory in prior books adds to the enjoyment of each new book. It’s a total riot following as Echo grows from sole survivor on her colony world of Corros after a vicious attack by the alien race Tolleani through her escape to later adventures as she matured into one heck of a wicked warrior and leader. Plenty of twists and turns (especially in the whole premise of book 3) but uniformly excellent writing, great action-fueled plots and truly well-crafted characters. Total enjoyment is virtually guaranteed. Frankly, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
I had not read the first book in the series. This book was great as a stand alone. I enjoyed the story. The characters were well written and likable. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes overcoming the odds and science fiction.
The world building is good and believable. Echo is a great character, and the story is enjoyable with Diana adding a little humor. I'm enjoying Echo's adventures.
A brilliant third book in this super interesting & enjoyable series! More intrigue & adventure! Following the two main characters though their missions & mishaps! A really well written & well thought out plot! An amazing read!
The second in this trilogy seamlessly continues the story, with even more twists including pirates an evil family holding a planet in slavery and lots of battles to keep you turning pages, well worth reading, I would recommend reading book one first, Baz.
I couldn’t finish DARK WORLD: AN ECHO’S WAY ADVENTURE. Guy gets captured; brave girl finds him; guy gets captured again; etc. It’s just not my cup of tea.
