This is a beginning book - an easy reader level. I love Britta’s books and this is no exception. She does little cutouts on every other page and as you turn the page it highlights a drawing or it tells part of the story again. It’s so clever and so well done. Her artwork has so much mood to it in this book. It is wonderful. It’s about animals and people too and the fact that we all live under the same sky and this fact helps to connect us all. Fabulous book!

The kids both enjoyed this book and they gave it 4 stars. It’s a quick and simple read, but it actually has a little something to say and it’s beautiful.

Truly divine illustrations paired beautifully alongside spare poetic text. The notion that we are all one and the same, sharing the most glorious planet is one that is presented with subtlety and sincerity. Under the Same Sky is special and relevant - a must share with children as young as three and as old as fifty, and anyone who adores nature and all her creatures.

A story that takes you around the world using beautiful illustrations. With opportunities for rhyming, and discussing how and why we are all so similar.

I have been waiting ages to be able to read this book and I can say that it lived up to my expectations! It’s both beautiful in its illustrations as well as it’s message and something which, I believe, would suit so well into a classroom in today’s society.

Whenever I read a book I love to see who the author has dedicated it to and it really made me happy to see that Teckentrup had written it “For a United world”. This dedication really encapsulates the theme and message of the entire book. Each page focuses on different animals (which I really enjoyed as it could be a talking point on why it was not humans that were drawn) and although they can look and be very different they also share many of the same hopes and dreams- a mirror of our own society.

I found it interesting that every animal is at least in a pair. There were no animals by themselves and I believe this also represented an important message, one which should be shared with children, and that is that we are never alone. Although it can sometimes feel it, especially with our differences, it is our similarities which can drive out our loneliness and bind us together. There is a focus that although we are all unique and individual (which is something to be celebrated!) we all dream the same dreams under the same sky.

The lyrical nature of the text and the cleverly put together peep-through holes in the pages hone in on the theme of universality.

It is a book that I would love to share with children and adults to bring forward the focus that it is not our differences that divide us but our similarities which unite us.

A really beautifully illustrated book, about how wherever we live, we share the same sky, feel the same love, play the same games, sing the same songs, face the same storms, and dream the same dreams.
The board book has cut out holes, through which you can see from one environment into the next – emphasising that it all happens under the same sky.
In the book it is animals who are pictured as sharing these things, and in an ideal world, the same would be true for humans. We do all live on the same planet, under the same sky. There is much more that unites us – our needs, hopes and fears – than divides us. And we need to concentrate on what we do share with the rest of humanity, and not create artificial barriers and inequalities.

I listened to this on CBeebies Bedtime Stories read by Tom Hardy. Lovely sentiment for the pandemic about reaching out to loved ones you can't physically meet up with. Just the middle of the incredibly short story seemed to lose its way, which is impressive in such a small amount of time.

Inhalt

With lovely illustrations that bear a second and a third look as well as perfectly positioned die-cuts, this picture book celebrates what we all have in common. Clearly, as different as we all may be, we also have much in common as is demonstrated by the animals and scenes in this book. We play, sing, love, and even dream in similar fashion, and maybe, just maybe, our dreams will come true if we dream alongside each other. I really cannot say enough about this author/illustrator's work since I am charmed by every book she creates. The minimal text and the images manage to say a great deal without becoming too didactic.

Under the same sky is a great book with lovely illustrations. The rhythm and rhyme are simple but effective making you want to read on. The cut out shapes highlight the repetition and make the book more engaging to look at.

Ah, listening to this story read by Tom Hardy was a joy. He paints such a serene and vivid mind picture of how even where there’s great distance between family, we are still together at heart. ❤️

The author creates a lovely story, and Tom weaves it together with his lulling voice.

Sweet dreams everyone, and remember, we are all under the same sky. 😘

"Under The Same Sky" was an amazing read. I was not expecting this story to be as inspiring. The book offered a unique style. I loved how it had peek through cut outs and that many times sayings would be incorporated some way on both pages. The story also had a positive message to readers how we are all doing the same things. No matter how different we may be, we still all want the same things. Children enjoy animals, this story will captivate them and help them to relate themselves and their families to the animals and the message that they shared.

This picture book provides a moving look at our interconnected nature around the world. The text is poetic and flowing while the illustrations show animals from different regions and climates. Everyone lives under the same sky, loves in the same way. We play the same games, sing the same songs. We all face challenges and dream big dreams. Through the clever use of cutouts on the pages and dramatic page turns, this picture book is simple and stirring.

Teckentrup excels at creating picture books with unique elements. Here she uses page cutouts to glimpse the beginning of each stanza, tying the different parts of the world even more firmly together. The text is simple and straightforward. It is the illustrations that really shine, showing all sorts of animals living and loving together no matter where they live. The art has a gorgeous light and depth to it, filled with moonlight, sunshine and even the pastels of dawn.

A lovely and simple look at our interconnected world. Appropriate for ages 2-4.

Although the cut-out shapes in page worked for me with Teckenstrup's Bee and Tree perfectly, this one just didn't feel right for me this time. On saying that, there were moments where the gaps supported the lovely poem perfectly but other times when it didn't for me.

At a time when unity across seas and oceans, colour and culture are being worryingly tested, Teckentrup's words are most welcome and the message is a lovely, accessible, one for the younger reader. Teckentrup is calling for a united world, using animals to show that we beathe the same air, feel emotions the same way, play and sing for the same reasons. A book about acceptance of an understanding that we are all on this planet together: one species who should be united. I think she could have taken it a little further and had people, perhaps.
