Four years ago, my buddy’s dying words to me were to watch out for his little sister.

I did what he asked from afar, and when she graduated and got a job teaching kindergarten, I asked her to “housesit” for me since I’m hardly ever home when I’m working on the oil rig.

But now I’m injured and have to recuperate at home, and my extra-curvy housesitter is anything but safe from me.

She’s the homebody type. She’ll make some man an excellent wife someday, be a good mother. She likes taking care of people. It would be wrong AF to take her the way I want to, but it would feel so right.

When she comes to me for advice about how to get a boyfriend and how to keep him, I’m done playing her silent guardian.

I’ll teach her everything she needs to know about pleasing a man—me.
She says all she’s ever really wanted to do was be a mama. And now I can’t stop thinking of putting my baby in her belly.

Author’s Confession: This story is trope soup and I loved every minute of writing it. Don’t believe me? Older man/ younger woman. First time. Roommates. Older brother’s best friend. BBW heroine. Alpha real man hero. Guardian/Ward. Breeding romance. Insta-lust. Heck, if I’d have given one of them amnesia, we’d have a serious drinking game!

Brill Harper is a pseudonym. Like…a secret identity. By day she’s Clark Kent, writing romance books for young adults and grownups. By night, she’s Brill Harper writing unfailingly filthy, yet super sweet books, that would make her alter ego blush.

She especially likes to writes book about quirky, awkward heroines and alpha bad boys. Well, except that they are really alphamallows once they fall in love. Seriously--these heroes only have one weakness, and it's sticky, sweet love. They don't let anything stand in the way of taking what belongs to them. Ooey-gooey marshmallow hearts in big, burly dominating dudes. What's not to love about that?

Brill's books are filthy/sweet for when you're in the mood for something a little over the top. Okay, a lot over the top. Sorry, not sorry.

The story is good. I just didn't like a part of it but overall it's a good one.

The story is about Graden and Rebecca.

He's her older brother's best friend and before her brother died, he made Graden promise to take care of her. So he spent the last four years taking care of her without her knowledge.

She's a kindergarten teacher now and she's supposed to housesit for him while he's working out on the oil rig but he got injured and has to stay home until he's healed.

She asked for his help to teach her how to get a man and how to keep him. They want each other but she thought he sees her as a little sister and he thought he's not good enough for her.

I understand why she got mad at him but I don't like her self-pity even from the start. I also don't think he's really controlling her life. He just wants to help and take care of her and he loves her.

It has a nice epilogue.

Not going to lie, this was a surprise for me. I want sure going in because the whole "4 years taking care of her from afar was making me leary. My biggest question- was he hot for her and screwing others...the answer is no. He was fulfilling a promise to his best friend. He had seen her briefly at the funeral years prior but that was it. He wasn't secretly pining yet sleeping around. He didn't come across as a manwhore and once he comes back and sees her "in the flesh" he is not with anyone else. I wish he hadn't been with others after he saw her the first time but there was nothing romantic between them whatsoever so I let it slide.

-no cheating
-no ow/om drama whatsoever
-some pushing away by both -he doesn't think he's good enough and she finds out that he's been dishonest
-steamy
-no violence of any sort
-just ok epilogue

Graden is a possessive, dirty talking alpha who’s been half in love with his best friend’s little sister for years. He’s always taken his vow to watch out for her seriously and doesn’t see himself as good enough for her. But when Rebecca propositions him for help in attracting a man, Graden finally gives in to his desire and sets out to worship the girl of his dreams.

This was a really cute quick read. I really liked Graden *sigh* he was the best kind of obsessive hero. He always put Rebecca’s needs first and always went out of his way to protect and care for her. Rebecca was a sweet character too, she’s been crushing on Graden forever but has some insecurities about her attractiveness that makes pursuing him almost impossible. I liked how she grows confident and sets out to be independent but I didn’t agree with her OTT reaction to finding out how Graden had been taking care of her – I felt it was a little overblown.

If she had been the one to apologize, I think this would have been a lot better. The fact that Graden has too seek her out first was too much. I love a hero who does the chasing but I didn’t feel like Graden’s actions deserved Rebecca’s OTT reaction, imo.

I’ve heard a few audiobooks recently that I’ve liked but Drilled was the first one that was so fun. Maybe because it was short and to the point? I will say the fast pace and likable characters definitely helped! Drilled is an insta – love romance with a whole bunch of tropes mixed in to make a sexy, off the charts hot cocktail of smutty goodness.

This quicky definitely delivered on the insta-love and the hot smexy times. Hearing some of the cheesy or OTT one liners made me smile (and a few times laugh) but I still really enjoyed listening to this one.

The narrator did a good job fitting a distinctive voice to each protagonist. It did take me a while to get used to Bec’s higher pitched voice during the dialogue parts. It felt a little weird that the character’s tone switched between a normal pitch and a higher pitch but it didn’t take away from the story and you could differentiate between the male and female characters, during each of their POVs.

The “author’s confession” describes this as ‘trope soup’ and I love that. A fun, quick and steamy read. I really like Brill Harper’s alpha-mallow heroes, even if this story wasn’t the most memorable. An easy way to spend an hour.

DRILLED was just as over the top dirty as the rest of the series and I would have liked this one more if there wasn't so much push and pull between the characters. Rebecca was sweet and caring and Graden was absolutely filthy (in the best way) and I just wanted them to be together. My rating is more reflective of myself than the story because I'm just not really into the "get her pregnant" trope so that part of the story was a bit flat for me.

Man... I don't know why I love these books so much! Somehow Brill Harper sets up these characters and plots that have enough weight to have real heart and emotion and such INSANELY HOT sex - in a relatively short package (this one took me less than 2 hours to read). Graden was such a big, sexy, (filthy talking) sweetheart and Rebecca was sweet and real. I loved their interaction - both of them had insecurities that played a role in keeping them apart. And then when they finally get together, there was a realistic kink in the works and instead of just glossing over it, I loved that Rebecca womaned up and stood up for herself. And I loved that Graden did not give up hope, despite his upbringing. The story was great. The characters were great. The epilogues were great. LOVED THIS BOOK! 5 out of 5 fo sho!

I probably would have rounded this 3.5 up to 4 stars had I read it instead of listening to the audiobook, I just wasn't a fan of the single narration when there are alternating view points.

Regarding the story itself, it was short and to the point. I liked the characters and their story. The series looks like a good one if you're looking for quick and dirty books with blue collar heroes.

Sometimes you need something short and spicy, this fits that perfect. It was funny and hot. An easy binge book/series. It’s very tropey but it all works well together. The body positivity in Drilled was wonderful. It’s nice seeing books with women that are described as soft and curvy.

You just have to love the Blue Collar Bad Boys Books, who doesn't love a man whose muscles come from a hard days manual work rather than the gym? This is a quick read and full of hot fast paced action. Garen unfortunately isn't real good with the words but boy he has other things that make up for it. A lust turned to love turned to a HEA all in one short story.

Audio Review: Drilled (Blue Collar Bad Boys, Book 3) by: Brill Harper (Author), Candace Childs (Narrator)

To be honest I knew what I was walking into when I decided to take a chance on Drilled. Harper is not really known for her subtlety. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Rebecca and Graden sent hormones in the obvious direction, yet Harper gave a hint of a yank on the heartstrings and Childs dove in for the kill. Brill Harper and Candace Childs make a great team. Rebecca and Graden prove themselves to be a hot match.

Hot, sweet and so satisfying

You know a book is gonna be good when you bark out laughter before reading the first chapter. I was tickled over the author notes about the story which Harper calls “trope soup.” ---a crazy cocktail of various themes --that includes older man/younger woman, first time roommates, older brother’s best friend, BBW heroine, alpha male hero, guardian, insta-lust, and breeding romance. And it works brilliantly in this story.

And don’t forget the uber, filthy talkin’ beast of an alpha male hero that sure to melt your lingerie. That would be Graden. He’d promised his friend his last dying wish to take care of his little sister, and for the last four years that’s what he did. From afar. But a foot injury has him recovering at home and away from the oil rig he normally spends his time. While Rebecca, his housesitter, also Camden’s little sister, is all grown up with sexy curves traipses around the condo, it’s a test to the boundaries Graden has set for himself. Insta-lust has Graden whispering filthy talk making Rebecca melt into a puddle. She wants Graden to teach her how to seduce a man like him. She reveals her secret which brings out the “beast” in Graden. She is too irresistible and he’s going to claim her.

Lots of smexy goodness with panty-melting dirty talk, throw in a misunderstanding, a bit of dom/sub play, and it’s the best mix for a quick, romantic read.

Drilled is by far my favorite of the Blue Collar Bad Boys series. It is a hot, sexy novella with a swoon worthy ending and an epilogue that is so satisfying. I love happy endings, and Brill Harper hits a homerun with this story.

I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Drilled
Blue Collar Bad Boys, Book 3
By: Brill Harper
Narrated by: Candace Childs

This is my first Brill Harper book and I enjoyed it very much. The interesting storylines are original and well written, they captivated me from start to end. The characters are complex and well developed. This is Rebecca and Graden’s story. Rebecca is a kindergarten teacher lives in who lives in Graden’s condo on the premise that he needs someone to stay there while he is away working on the pipeline. Graden was good friends with Rebecca’s brother and he promised him he would take care of her before he passed away. He had been doing so from a distance, making sure she had everything she needed in life. A work injury brings Graden back home to his condo and he finds himself falling for Rebecca but he tries to keep his distance, then she asks him to teach her to get a man. Feelings come out, lines get crossed and all goes well until it doesn’t. I liked how their story played out, this may be a novella sized book but Brill Harper fit a lot of story into it. There is never a dull moment, it has plenty of drama, angst and some hot romance. Thank you for this great story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, Candace Childs does a great job narrating, she brings the characters and their story to life from the pages to your ears. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. That you for this great listen🎧

I either got this for free or really cheep. I've not read anything by this author before and I usually try to read a series in order, so this is a bit of a departure for me.

Narration: It was just a female narrator, even though there was a male POV. I'm not really a fan of a female narrating the male POV chapters. Not that this narrator was bad, I actually liked her, but it would have been better for a male to voice the male POV.

Since I've read out of order it makes me wonder if there is any introduction to these characters before hand, the way the story starts kinda makes it seam like we already know them a bit, or at least their situation.

This has two different tropes I enjoy: brother's best friend and lessons in seduction (for lack of a better term, basically were the male teaches the female how to get another guy and then he falls for her). I generally don't care for the brother's best friend if the brother is no longer in the picture, ie dead. Those add an element of sadness I don't enjoy and this had that aspect.

The story is short, so the story line moves fast, but this was a bit of a cheese fest. There was quite a bit of dirty talk, and maybe it was the narration but it was more comical than sexy, and over the top. I found myself laughing during the sexy moments more than any thing.

Once the real drama of the story showed up I think she over reacted. I don't blame her for wanting to live on her own merit, but her reaction to finding out what he did was a little extreme.

Will I listen to more from this author and this series, maybe.

Graden made a promise to his dying best friend that he would always look after his little sister Rebecca. Graden kept his promise in many ways. He started a trust to pay for her college, he had her "win" a car and he even asked her to housesit his apartment which he bought to give her a place to live. Graden never really needed a place since he spends most of his time on the oil rig where he works. However this summer, he was injured at work and has to stay at home to be treated. He sees Rebecca all grown up and all he wants to do is take her to his bed. He is doing her best to keep his distance.
Rebecca is a kindergarten teacher who has no luck with men. She never gets to go on a second date and she is still a virgin. When her date texts her at the last minute and breaks their date she is discouraged and sad. When Graden asks if he can help, Rebecca asks him to give her lessons on attracting a man like him. She has had a crush on him and he is the type of man she wants to be with. Graden is torn between his feelings for Rebecca and his promise to her brother. He doesn't want Rebecca to give her v-card to anyone else but he feels guilty about wanting it himself. He has to walk a fine line of keeping Rebecca from doing something rash and betraying his friend.
I really enjoyed this story. Rebecca was sweet and funny. Graden really had his hands full. I voluntarily read a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Super Hot And Sexy Times Two

This book has two excellent stories in it. Drilled and Bounced. I had previously read Bounced but it was so good, I read it again and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Drilled is pretty great too. I enjoyed every word of it. I find insta-love, OTT, alpha male romance stories to be HOT!! I can't wait for Brill's next book, Wrecked to come out.

Graden made a promise to his best friend, Cameron to look after his baby sister, Rebecca, right before he died and Graden took that promise very seriously. He has been providing her every need for the last 4 years, unbeknownst to her.
Rebecca is now living in Graden home as his house sitter but things change when Graden is injured on the job and has to come home to recuperate. Both are very good at hiding their sexual attraction for one another, which isn't easy, especially for Graden. Being with Rebecca and making her his is all he can think and dream about. Then Rebecca lays a bombshell on him. She informs Graden that she is a virgin and wants him to teach her how to seduce a man, like him.
Will Graden be able to help her knowing she wants to use that knowledge to seduce another man? Will Graden find out that it's really Him she wants to seduce? Will Rebecca still want Graden when she learns the secret he is keeping from her?

*My review for Bounced can be found on the Amazon and Goodreads listings for it.

Audiobook review:

3.5 of 5 stars

Drilled is a best friend's younger sister/older brother's best friend contemporary romance. There were several other troupes thrown in but that was the biggest one for me. It was a quick listen where the leading man promised his best friend before his death that he'd look out for his little sister. Our leading man does that from afar going so far as to ask her to house sit since he is often out working on an oil rig essentially giving her a free place to live when she graduates college. But when he sees her again now that she's all grown up they both find it hard to fight the attraction. And when she asks him for help getting and keeping a man like him, things will never be the same.

This book being so short kind of hindered some of my getting to know the characters better. I knew the important facts about them, but didn't really get to make that emotional connection I like. However, the writing was pretty solid and it held my attention.

The author and narrator were both new to me. I thought the narrator Candace Childs did a really good job. She had a nice overall voice and good distinction between the leading characters. When there is a male and female POV I always prefer dual or duet narration, but she still had a really good voice. As for the author Brill Harper, I would be interested in checking out more from her, preferably something a bit longer.

That's all I did while reading this story by Brill Harper and a hot alpha man, Graden, who says what he means and doesn't beat around the bush and the young woman, Rebecca, he promised to look after his best friend (her older brother) died. Graden is fighting his attraction to Rebecca, thinking she needs somebody better and that he is not worthy of her. Rebecca though has other plans, she has wanted Graden who is all male. When she asks him to teach her how to keep a guy, he loses it and it becomes tense between the two until finally he can't hold out any longer. But there is something he hasn't told her and that may just drive her away.
I can't get enough of these stories from this author. Brill Harper has a way in a very short amount of time having you fall in love with both of the characters. The writing is exceptional and I really really enjoy that the man is not a man wh***, but is an all dirty talking possessive alpha man that makes you swoon, sigh & swoon again, needing at least 2 full glasses of ice water just to cool down from the intense and steamy steamy scenes. Not only that but little drama and what drama there is, it doesn't go on and on and on...refreshing.
A perfect book to read by the poolside or beach so when it gets too hot you can cool down. Can't can't wait for the next one!!

Trope soup, she calls it. Definitely accurate. I usually love tropes for the simple fact that they're very uncomplicated and they always fill the brief. In this case, it definitely did. I found Rebecca a bit too simple for me. She read like she was five years younger than she was and I didn't really like that. I often enjoy girls unaware of how physically tempting they are and even a bit of insecurity because they've had no one to help them see beyond all the critics and this story had that in spades. I think that she overreacted to the revelation via checkbook because she didn't use her brain to put everything into perspective. The drama was a bit too forced and over-the-top for what was going on.

I also often enjoy big, bad, sexy men who make it their sole purpose to make their woman know just how amazing they are sexually and in every other way too. Graden was definitely the man for this job. He had a big complex because of his past which isn't really discussed or explained, but in a book this short I suppose brief and vague is the best we get. Rebecca's love and compassion went a long way to soothing his past aches no matter how much we learn about why they're there in the first place.

Overall, this was a good book, a quick read and was a satisfactory continuation of the Blue Collar Bad Boys series. I willingly read and reviewed an ARC from the author.

Brill Harper is hands-down the most brilliant wordsmith in the business. The phrases she uses, the word pictures she paints, and the characters she creates are clever, original, witty, and heartwarming all at once. I have absolutely loved each of the previous Blue Collar Bad Boys more than a simple review can say, but even so this one is that much better. As the author admits, she included just about every trope imaginable (except amnesia) and she knitted them all together into a masterpiece story.

Graden is 100% alpha caveman who is convinced he has nothing to offer any woman beyond an amazing time in bed. Rebecca is the first woman to make him even want to offer something more, and his journey to realizing that is a joy to behold. Rebecca, for all her innocence, knows exactly what she wants but she's no doormat; she's not going to allow anyone - not even the caveman of her dreams - to crush her sense of self. Their chemistry is allowed to heat up slowly, but when it finally combusts it results in probably the hottest series of love scenes I've read this year. Quite a feat for a short novella-length story, but like I said, Ms. Harper is a genius with wordplay. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

All the smutty yumminess! I’ve been meaning to go thru this authors back catalogue when I have some extra cash and so I splurged and bought a bunch of her books. I love that she has super steamy books with virgin heroines, no cheating and no condoms to ruin the smut😈😈😈

This one was simple, uncomplicated plot of a girl who lost her brother and the brothers bestie who has been taking care of her from afar. (He works on an oil rig and hasn’t seen her since she was a teen, even tho he’s been pulling strings and making sure she’s taken care of.). When circumstances throw them together as roommates, the hero is eaten up with desire and yearning for her, but he doesn’t feel as if he’s good enough for her. It’s only when the heroine pushes his buttons that he loses it and claims her.

There’s some minor misunderstanding and separation, but both are faithful during that time.

Safe. Hero has been celibate since re-meeting heroine as a woman. His past is briefly mentioned but he doesn’t do relationships, just ONS. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No others, no cheating or abuse. HEA with epilogue and a baby a couple years out.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters were fun and I liked the way the story was written. I loved Graden and Rebecca and the mixture of the different tropes. She really pulled them all together well. Graden is healing at home where he has had Rebecca house-sitting/living since he spends so much time out on the oil rig. It's been an excuse to have her in a safe place to look after her as part of his promise to her dead brother/his best friend. As soon as Graden starts spending time at the house with Rebecca though he doesn't see her as a little sister anymore. He sees her as a woman that he wants desperately. Rebecca wants him as well but doesn't believe that he sees her that way. I liked the way that things developed between them. Things happen quickly but it makes sense the way that the story is set up and carried out. I thought it was well done. The sex is explicit and blends in well with the story. I really liked the characters and once I started reading I didn't want to put the book down. It is a shorter read and went by quickly but I really enjoyed the time it took to finish it.

I read this book as part of an arc program. I really like this series of older men/ younger woman. This book is the story of Rebecca, a young kindergarden teacher and Graden, a friend of her older brother who was killed in a car crash. Before he died, Cameron asked Graden to look after Rebecca, which he did from afar by paying for her college and buying a condo for her to stay at using the excuse he needed a house sitter because he works on the oil rigs. When Graden gets injured, he moves in with Rebecca to heal but she isn't the little sister he remember from Cameron's photos. Graden fights an attraction to Rebecca and wants to let his inner caveman out and claim her but he doesn't think he is good enough. Rebecca asks Graden for help in finding a man who is interested in her, and when he thinks she might just pick up anyone at a bar, he can't wait any longer. I enjoy the Blue Collar Bad Boy series and the alpha males who like to think they are in control and the women who really are. Good book.

This is straight up erotica, and it just didn't work for me - unfortunately :/

I was on a book buying binge a while back looking for romances with plus-size heroines without too much "I'm fat" angst and the inevitable losing weight plot. And this novella does fulfill my criteria in that regard.

It just not good? It's just one slightly entertaining dumpster fire of a book. The characters are under-developed, the dirty talk and sex pretty cringy (for me at least) and my main question after reading this book is - how big is his cock, exactly?? A book where the main event is the loooong sex scene can't have a bad sex scene. That's just the truth.

Continuing with this book just not being for me - it's told in first person, and bad first-person narrative is MUCH worse than bad third-person narrative.

Also, there's no big plot, but given the lenght and the type of novella that's just as it is.

I won't be continuing with the series.

What a fantastic listen! This may be short, but it's chock full of every trope that I love. Rebecca is Graden's best friend's sister whom he has been watching over for 4 years. After the death of his best friend, he has been keeping his promise of making sure Rebecca is happy and safe. Now roommates, they are attracted to each other, but neither one knows it. And the fun begins. From shopping to going out, to intimacy, to pregnancy, this story has a little bit of everything. Though short, Harper Brill always makes it feel like we know everything we need to. We feel what they do, and enjoy the journey. Rebecca and Graden are easy to relate to, it's a fun listen. Candace Childs brings it all to life with her enthusiastic and emotional voices. We could enjoy every feeling with her portrayal and gave us a wonderful couple of hours of entertainment.

First time I think I ever had to give Bril Harper book a 1 star! Have to say I'm very very disappointed that she is going down the same, badly written, ridiculously unbelievable stupid sex scene route with no story, that Nicola Snow, Jenika Snow, Alexa Riley, and Sam Crescent, all flood amazon with.

They write the same barely there story over and over, with sex scenes that are so ridiculously ott stupid that it's like they've never even had sex. With one sex scene lasting for a dozen pages, with so much talking during it I want to smack the characters and the sheer number of times the characters orgasm in the one sex scene is just stupid!  If this author is just going to start writing the same lacking and badly written rubbish those authors write then I'm sorry to havs to say that I'm done with Bril Harper. Very disappointing!
