Amelia Lowe has spent her entire life building up to this day. Known as the best home remodeling team in the region, Amelia and her brother, Landon, are booked out for the foreseeable future. She's got two great nephews, a fantastic sister-in-law and feels like God has blessed her exceedingly. Life is good. When Amelia's favorite home TV network calls asking to come shoot a special of them, she agrees to let them film their next remodel. And that's when everything crashes down. The house they are working on is in far worse shape than they thought, the budget is already stretched as far as it can go and then, Landon is called away from the house to go be with his wife in the hospital. It cannot get worse. At least, that's what Amelia thinks until she meets Landon's replacement, Joe. With the time constraint tightening around her proverbial neck, can Amelia and Joe pull off the biggest Worse Case Scenario job of her entire career? Or will she fail miserably in front of millions of people? And will she ever be able to sing "It is well with my soul" again without having visions of septic systems and bacteria-filled water wells in her head?

Sweet, easy read. I love Erynn's books and it was perfect that this came out while I was on the beach so I could finish it in a few hours.

Who knew there were such nicknames you can use for Amelia?  :-)

I am not quite sure how I noticed that Erynn Mangum had released two new books without me knowing it, but it happened.  My norm is to snatch her books up right away and read them, but was I surprised to find out that Swing Lowe had been out since July.  I love her style of writing.  The way her characters act and think and speak.  How do you not fall in love with a book that starts like this one does?
Sometimes, life is just a pain in the neck.

And isn't the cover just great!

I loved that Amelia was a house flipper.  I know women do these kinds of jobs, but it is not the norm and that made for interesting reading in and of itself.  At first, when Amelia was having a conversation with Landon (having once again not read the blurb before I started reading), I thought it was going to be a "best friends to lovers" kind of story, but no, if I had read the description I would have known that Landon is her super sweet big brother.  Aww!  I want a Landon!

The story opened slowly before me at just the right pace.  The growing frustration that Amelia went through as things appeared to be falling apart before her eyes, the hints to something big and sad from her past, her intense need for control over her life, all were presented and handled in a beautiful way.

Joe was just wonderful.  I loved the way he took the first opportunity he saw to share his faith without hesitation.  And his patience with Amelia and the way he treated her was just plain perfect.

In case you have never read a book by this author, here are a couple quotes from the book to give you a feel for her writing.
I totally freeze, halfway through putting on my shoes and my brain immediately sort of errts right to a complete stop.

I think your need to control things is just your fear of the unknown. Don’t miss out on the blessings He has for you just because you’re scared.”

Now hurry off and buy all her books.  Really.  You won't be sorry! This review was originally posted on Among the Reads

This story, like all of Erynn's stories, made me smile and laugh. The novella reminds us to let go of trying to control everything and trust that God works all things together for our good. The only thing that was slightly disappointing about this book was the lack of editing. (I recall there being at least 4 typos and 2 inconsistencies in the story.) If you are looking for a sweet summer read and/or a fan of home improvement shows, this is the perfect book for you!

I have said it before and I will gladly say it again: Erynn Mangum is one of my favorite authors! I love her voice and just everything about her books.

With this one, though, I found it different because I'm ignorant about this kind of work. It never has been my thing. Nevertheless, this was such a fun read! I enjoyed all the characters (as usual) and just really enjoyed all the relationships and the fun.

You can never go wrong with an Erynn Mangum book. Sweet romance with a Fixer-Upper vibe. I only wish it was longer.
