She has every right to feel venomous resentment...
Convicted of a murder she didn't commit, sniper Henri Anderson suffers two years of hard time before she's given a choice--accept an unknown assignment offered by a seedy foreign dignitary or head for home. The decision took all of two seconds. At least that's what she thinks, until a mysterious Scottish man shows up and offers a deal sweet enough to tempt a saint.
But has the rugged blue-eyed closer met his match?Annoyed that ICE is wasting his time by sending him to Utah to recruit a talented soldier who has already turned them down, secret agent, Mike Rose, has no intention of failing. He's a tough guy with more persuasion in his hard stare than most people manage with an oration. Disarmed by a woman who's not only tenacious, she's downright stunning, Mike tempts Henri with something even a hardened Delta Force sniper can't refuse. And once she's hooked, Mike thinks he's done--can go back to covert ops working alone. But Henri isn't a woman who's easy to forget. And when she's snared by the clutches of the very man who framed her for murder, the big Scot will sell his soul to save her.

Body Shot is the second book in the ICE series by Amy Jarecki. Although part of a series it can easily be read as a stand alone novel.
Henri, a Delta Force operative, has spent the last two years in a military prison for a crime she didn't commit. She was framed by an ISIS militant. Thanks to ICE (International Clandestine Enterprise) it's proven that she didn't commit the crime and she is released with an honourable discharge and two years back pay. Being a sharpshooter, one of, if not the very best there is, ICE offer her a job with them. She isn't interested, she just wants to go to her grandfather's gold mine and carry on his work. She wants peace and quiet.
Mike, a former SAS soldier, is now an ICE operative, he's worked for them for 8 years. He's buff, he's good looking, and he's got a sexy Scottish accent to match his head of red hair. Most women can never say no to him when he sets out to charm them. He finds himself on a plane to visit Henri to try to convince her to join the team. His main piece of bait is the fact that they will be going after the man who framed her. He is involved in something that could only mean bad news to the western world.
Of course with Mike's charm and that bait, it isn't long before Henri agrees to go with him.
What follows is an absolutely captivating story, the perfect mix of a budding, passion filled romance and a thrilling, exciting, action filled story of how ICE have to stop ISIS in their latest scheme to bring the most amount of terror and damage to the western world.
What I really loved about this book is that there were both light and dark moments. You could be feeling upset about something one minute, but then Mike (more often than not) would do or say something that would cause a laugh out loud moment. The plot regarding ISIS was edge of your seat stuff and I couldn't read the book fast enough to find out how it would all end. The way the author described the stealth involved in the ICE operation made me feel like I was there amongst it all. Then, of course, the romance between Mike and Henri, that was both romantic and steamy hot. They tried to fight it but when they eventually gave in, wow, talk about incendiary!
Generally, I don't like this genre of book, but having read the first in this series, and now this one, I think, if nothing else, this author's books will always get a big thumbs up from me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers' copy of this book.
Our h is a former Delta Force operative who did prison time for a crime she did not commit. Our H is a former SAS agent trying to recruit the h into an organization that fights terrorism. Their chemistry is off the charts. This makes for another good romantic suspense from this author.

INCLUDES AUDIOBOOK REVIEW Do you like your reads gut and emotionally gripping? Here’s a story of facing challenges with honed mind and body. I loved the thrill!
Heart-pounding action with a woman who knows who she is and what she wants, author Jarecki gives me another opportunity to live on the edge, and in this particular story, this remark should be taken literally.
Jarecki is one of those authors you know will entertain you engaging 100% your senses and emotions.
I read this book back in August. I gave it a FIVE-STAR-READ. You would think, even though I thought it a stellar one, I could put it aside, read another book, while listening to this one again. Generally, I’ll listen to an audiobook in a different genre from a book I’m reading. Not a problem keeping the stories straight. Simply put, this story is totally over the top combined with narrator Joel Froomkin. I. Was. Nailed. I couldn’t read anything else. I had to listen to it. And you what? I’d listen to it again just for terrific storyline, accents in dialog and living on the edge!
Froomkin has a certain vibrato in his vocal cords when excited or in a moment of terror. He puts me in the same state. He also does something with the microphone, seemingly getting close to it in an intimate setting. I can’t figure it out exactly. But boy, his narration is powerful. So, coupled with this hugely suspenseful novel by Jarecki set in some of the most dangerous parts of the world, I am blown away. Dang it! It was good! Luckily, I don’t have too long to wait for book 3, Mach One, coming out in January 2018. But let me get you caught up in the storyline.
Henrietta has worked for Delta Force. Her bullet killed Fadli’s brother. It wasn’t as if he didn’t deserve it. He’d had a grenade, ready to pull the pin which would have killed Henri’s entire squadron. Somehow, she was fingered by his brother, Omar Fadli and put behind bars for two years. She’s been wrongly accused and spitting mad with this so-called justice.
She’s set free, offered another career by the very man handing her the release papers, saying they know who got her in prison. Henri isn’t up to trusting anymore. She walks from the prison, turning down this trickster, who’s ready to set her up again. No, never again. She has little faith for the good guys, that is, if they ARE good. She prefers to walk out of prison and lose herself in her grandfather’s mine, on the Paiute reservation. A place to heal, lick her wounds and renew her spirit.
"And I don’t need to be a hero. Been there, done that and was paid in misery. I am to flipping the Army the bird and moving on."
This new outfit who’d offer the job let her cool her heels for a couple of months and then sent out a handsome Scot, named Mike Rose, to see if she was ready to reconsider. Apparently, by her reaction she wasn’t.
Excerpt: She let him approach until she was sure he’d be able to see the muzzle of her rifle peeking between the sagebrush. “I could shoot you for trespassing,” she said, using her badass sergeant voice.”
The man took off his sunglasses and grinned. Good Lord, maybe not all the redheads on the planet were pasty. True, he had fair skin, but he looked buff—healthy, even. “Henrietta Anderson,” he said in a deep brogue, waving as if they were old pals. “’Tis good to see you’ve lived up to your reputation.” Jesus, he rolled his “rs”. ********** There is attraction and apparently from both sides. But Henri is anything but obstinate, yet Mike is her match as you see through the story. He talks her into seeing how the new team, ICE, of which he is a member, could help her seek revenge. She soon realizes that’s just what she wants, to stick it to Omar Fadli.
Henri joins ICE, training hard with the other team members. She comes to respect them. Mike and Henri are thrown together in a mission that is frightfully believable and scary as hell. Y-e-a-h! My kind of read.
I’m always eager to read author Jarecki, a writer who knows how to create thrilling, mind-blowing situations with characters you’ll love. Secretly? I wish I could have the stamina, smarts, passion and drive to reach my goals as they do. Oh, and Henri? Well, she’s just dynamite. Hope we’ll see her in the sequels. Henri, you go girl!
Henrietta “Henri” Anderson had been doing time for life for a crime she didn’t commit. A sniper in the Delta Force US Army, she had been framed by the terrorist Omar Fadli. Unexpectedly, she is sprung from prison after two years by the mysterious Anders Lundgren who wants her to work for a secret organisation, doing something he doesn’t even care to tell her. No way is she going to accept this shifty offer, and Henri goes back to her reservation, to her place in a cave, hoping to extract some gold from the Utah rock where she lives. Mike Rose, of ICE – International Clandestine Enterprise – is sent to try to convince Henri to change her mind. The smooth-talking Highlander is not terribly successful at first, but Henri can drive a hard bargain. She will have a chance to do what means the most to her: capture Omar Fadli. Besides Henri’s truck just died on her: even a tough girl needs money.
BODY SHOT is the second instalment in Amy Jarecki’s exciting romantic suspense series ICE. Those of us who had read the first book were waiting with bated breath, and those of you who haven’t, climb aboard! Although the amazing ICE environment is not described in as many details, a new reader will be able to follow without a problem. Ms. Jarecki has created another fabulous heroine in Henri: she’s half Paiute – American Native – and a crack shot. She is brash, a real tough girl, and a restless ball of pent-up energy, while Mike is all charm and cool confidence; both are very professional, dedicated to eradicating terrorism by any means possible. In spite of their shaky first meeting, they make a terrific team, and complement each other in, literally, every way. Their mutual attraction is solidly based on respect, but they’re both taken a bit aback that they come to really care for each other, as neither had any intention of getting into a relationship.
BODY SHOT shoots out of the starting block at full speed and races right through the win! Ms. Jarecki has written another thrilling suspense story firmly anchored in reality, with the added bonus of the ever-fabulous ICE environment, I just can’t get enough of that organisation! One of the highlights in BODY SHOT is again the exotic settings: France, Tanzania, Greece, and Scotland, which are described so sharply, I felt I was along for the ride. Amy Jarecki’s writing is transparent and seamless to the point where reading BODY SHOT seems like watching a movie. The romance progressed organically, even as Mike and Henri go through the wringer, which in fact makes them and their budding relationship stronger. The fight and action scenes are again mind-blowing, and again the author’s personal knowledge of martial arts is evident.
If you’re looking for an electrifying suspense with a dash of steamy romance, BODY SHOT is the book you want!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Body Shot features Mike Ross, a Scottish former SAS operative who we met briefly in Book 1 of this series, and Henri Soaring-Eagle Anderson, a former Delta Force sniper. Framed for a crime she didn't commit and imprisoned for two years, Henri is leery of joining back up, especially with an organization that won't reveal anything about itself until she's accepted their offer. Mike is the one sent to recruit her, but it's Henri's need to earn a living that eventually has her accepting ICE's offer.
I absolutely loved Henri. She was totally badass, a Paiute warrior who knows she's the absolute best at what she does and has no hesitation in kicking ass and taking names. The fact that Mike never denigrates her skills, indeed shows nothing but genuine respect and admiration for her, makes him a hero worth the name in my book. They were a terrific couple and I really enjoyed their story. This one was much more tightly written and well-plotted than the first, and though I noticed a couple of minor proofing errors like missing full stops, they didn't reduce my enjoyment of the book. I'm giving Body Shot five stars.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review through NetGalley.
Ebook received from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair review
Plot: 4/5 Characterisation: 4/5 Prose: 4/5 How much I enjoyed it: 3/5
In the 2nd installment of the series, we get Mike who is a veteran spy with ICE and Henrietta, a sharpshooter formerly with the Delta Force out of jail after being falsely imprisoned for 2 years for a murder she was framed for.
One thing I really like about this series so far are the kick-ass heroines. They are seriously overshadowing the heroes.
The plot again, is simple and straightfoward. Although, I find this a drawback as it make it seemed that the villians are smarter. That or our heroes are less bright (or at least the people at ICE are not so bright). The uncomplicated plot makes it a quick read.
Heart racing, breath holding, fingers crossed! I was pulled into the danger and electric journey for Henri and Mike immediately. Her determination and honesty made her such a strong and compatible heroine for Mike who was just as determined and used to working more alone. Their attraction is instant but the job came first. By the end, I was crying at the caring between these two and the steps they took to accept each other's pasts and presents. I highly recommend this book and the series. I look forward to the next one.
I received an ARC copy of this book, and this is my unsolicited review.
Once again, Jarecki impressed me. This second story in the ICE series was every bit as good as the first. A lot of time and research went into the scenic and technical details of this book, and it shows.
Henri and Mike were such lively, multi-layered characters, and the chemistry between them was electric. I loved their wit and sarcastic banter. The plot was creative, well-developed and moved at a quick pace, keeping me enthralled and rapidly running the pages the whole way.
I am more than ready for ICE #3!
*I received a complimentary copy of this story through NetGalley in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Looking for: *Action-packed adventure *Steamy romance *Alpha male *Alpha female *Military action *Defeating the bad guys *Teamwork *Intrigue *Great story *Travel
Look no further ;)
This book will provide all of the above and more!
Henrietta “Henri” Soaring-Eagle Anderson wants revenge on the terrorist who set her up BUT she is not sure she wants to work for ICE to get it. When Mike Rose comes with an offer she can’t say no to, well, the fireworks begin. There is chemistry between the two but also competitiveness. There is tenderness and respect. There is teamwork and sharing and caring and well…I enjoyed the book and think you will as well.
Thank you to the author who bequeathed me a copy through NetGalley for review purposes – This is my honest review.
This was a win from a goodreads give away. It was an excellent story! Henri was in the military and betrayed by her country. An outcast with her tribe. Unwanted by her father. Then in comes an ICE agent, whom she does not trust an completely dismisses. A couple months later, we meet Michael and it all get great! Training, lustful feelings, teams, terrorists, foreign countries. Much happens in this story, great characters, great story line! It has it all, action, adventure, romance, danger, what more could a person ask for? Well worth taking the time to read.
I adore this series. You never know what will be next. Amy is a master at putting you into the story and living it with the characters. I want Mike Rose for myself, lol.
Henrietta, Henri, Soaring-Eagle Anderson, former Delta Force Sharpshooter has just been sprung from prison after being framed for the assassination of an Iranian Ambassador by Omar Fadli, Al-Umari's right hand muscle. We met Al-Umari in book One, Hunt For Evil, the terrorist Olivia & Logan are after. ICE worked a deal with the President to spring Henri so she could use her considerable talents for them. Except Henri is done with taking orders and wants to be left alone. Enter Mike Rose, an agent we also met in Hunt For Evil, who is up to the challenge in recruiting Henri. I loved seeing how these two minds worked. Both Henri and Mike are intelligent and fabulous problem solvers. They are surprised that they work well as a team as Mike has always preferred to be on his own. With this spy game the story takes twists and turns you don't expect. I love that in a book. Step by step they work to take down the very ambitious Omar Fadli and his network of terrorists.
Thank you Amy for the ARC of this book for an honest review. And thank you for being patient in how long it took me to read and review it.
I am loving this series! A secret organization, fighting the horrible terror in the world and recruiting the most badass men and women from all over the world. Threaded throughout with danger, passion and bits of humor it is blended perfectly.
Henri was screwed by the government and the military she loved. Framed for an assassination she didn't commit she spends two years of her life behind bars. But when she is set free she wants nothing to do with the offer on the table. What is ICE and why do they want her??
Mike has been with ICE for years and if they want Henri then she must be the best. And he needs to get her to Iceland pronto. But he's met with resistance. And his reaction to the beauty of her complicates things even more.
As Henri leaps at the chance to enact her revenge, she is placed in terrible danger with Mike that only makes their passion more. When faced with death they must make a leap of faith or die. Can they each trust one another and their feelings to make something more for themselves or remain aloof and alone?? Can she get her revenge or will this threat prove too dangerous even for her extreme talents? Can't wait to see what comes next from this series!!
This is the second book in the ICE series. Where the first one is surrounded by an action-packed mission and two people fighting their inner demons before love can surface, this one is more like an instant attraction with a BANG! They're immediately drawn to one another and although they have personal rules of not getting involved, they do. A LOT.
I loved how the author pulled in a Scot for the Hero given her talents for medieval Scottish romances so this one was a little more "home" for me. There were more intimate scenes than I like but I'm sure many would enjoy them.
I loved the heroine! Henri immediately won my heart with her skills, no need for a man to protect her, and in-your-face-honesty. Loved how the author tied in her Native American roots. And YESSSS, near the end they visit Scotland. Who wouldn't love that?
Ms. Jarecki nailed it with this one, my sniper spy romance book loving friends. I absolutely loved the feisty, highly skilled like no other, alpha warrior heroine. She certainly seemed to be able to give as good as she got from the equally determined, trained, handsome as a moviestar Scot.
The fire power behind this dynamic duo certainly put the bad guys on notice and on the run, as lots of time was spent on covert life-threatening situations trying to stop these evil doers once and for all. When the tables are turned and they become the prey, they truly work as a team and use their unique skill set and even luck to survive impossible odds.
Whether seamlessly achieving their mission or about to face certain death, these two destined to be together warrior lovers never gave up hope or surrendered, except their hearts in the final, romantic wrap-up conclusion.
The writing flowed, stayed engaging, and I thoroughly enjoyed this action packed, dramatic, yet romantic read.
Romance Safety Gang:
Title: Body Shot, Series: ICE (Book 2), Author: Amy Jerecki, Pages: 255, stand-alone but part of a series, alpha sniper heroine, good guy alpha hero, very steamy scenes, some graphic violence, perilous situations, lots of action packed drama, romance safe with one exception.
Book 1 - Hunt for Evil Book 2 - Body Shot Book 3 - Mach One

For two years Delta Force sniper Henrietta "Henri" Anderson sat in a prison cell serving time for crime she did not do. Mike Rose was a long time ICE operative known for his expertise as well as his persuasive manner. When Henri agreed to work for ICE the attraction she and Mike initially felt for each other only amplified. As the two go on a mission, that allows Henri to confront the man who set her up to go to prison, Mike and Henri find that dodging bullets is a piece of cake compared to dealing with the unexpected feelings they have developed for each other.
Once again Ms. Jarecki orchestrated a story that will keep her audience's full attention. This writer has a knack for rapid firing details to flesh out her work, even while developing fascinating and engaging characters. Mike Rose exploded onto the pages of Body Shot and his courage coupled with his unceasing determination made him a hero that readers will want to snatch up for their own even while hoping for him and Henri to get together. Henri just raised the bar for kick-ass heroines everywhere. Her personal vulnerability emphasized her deadly unsurpassed skills setting up a highly complex emotional gamut for Mike to navigate to reach Henri's heart after his own surrendered. Demonstrating a real aptitude for romantic suspense Amy Jarecki has added another fantastic book to her ICE series. Body Shot is one entertaining sexy thrill ride that will keep readers adrenaline pumping until the very end!
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.* *While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
Imagine a hot, rugged, blue-eyed Scotsman and all that the accent implies; yep, what more could a girl want? Mike Rose doesn’t tolerate fools easily and rehashing a situation that seems overworked and futile is his least favourite chore. But Henri Anderson isn’t just any woman or the futile attempt at recruitment he first believed her to be.
Another exceptionally written suspense thriller with just the right amount of action and intrigue, Body Shot definitely keeps the reader captivated and breathless throughout the entire book. Mike and Henri are combustible once they let down their guard and the balance between action, danger and off the sizzling chemistry is commendable.
Ms Jarecki is definitely on a winner with the ICE series and this reader is hooked!
The first book in the series was a 5-star listen, this one is too and so much more. Maybe because Mike picked my interest in book 1, and Mr. Froomkin brought him to life with passion, his Scot brogue is to die for *sigh* his voice is so versatile it was a pleasure to listen. Kept pressing rewind on some scenes :D Ms. Jarecki pairs Mike, an Alpha male with a warm heart and Henri, a fearless, determined woman and they do get their HEA and the journey is exciting, suspenseful, mixed with some hawt scenes. This will go onto my relisten list for sure. I can't wait for book 3!
A female warrior cast aside by her country, A Scottish spy who needs no one. Henri is a Delta Force sniper wrongly convicted and imprisoned after being set up. She forcefully declines the initial recruitment offer so sexy Scot Mike is sent to change her mind. Henri thinks she's done with that world but Mike intrigues her and the chance for revenge is icing on the cake. Sent on a case as partners, Mike quickly realizes there's no one he'd rather have his or be in his bed. When she's targeted, it will take all of their formidable talents combined to get justice. Along the way, there's plenty of action and steamy heat.
Henri and Mike were an amazing pair to read about. This book had lots of action and tons of chemistry with some sexy time. Henri was a strong character and I really loved her attitude. Mike was also a likeable character who was perfect for her. Secondary characters were likeable and it's nice to have characters from first book make an appearance. I am loving this series and look forward to reading the next one.

Me Amy does it again in the second installment of her ICE series!
This story will keep you reading while it transports you into a world of terrorism and the heroes that work yo stop it. The sexy connection between Mike and Henri will sizzle your reader!
Enjoyable and well written romantic thriller. I preferred this to the previous book in the series as I thought the romance was much stronger, whilst the thriller element was excellent.

Henri was in jail for a murder she did not do and no one believed her so when ex military men and gave her a job with no details or anything she denied it but she was not expecting Mike and the determination he has. Plus, she really needed money and revenge.
This was a great adventure to go on. Funny and very romantic. Such a pair of hero's who fought their way out of the impossible to end in such a sweet way
Body Shot is the perfect romantic suspense. It's got it all - action, suspense and sizzling sexual tension with a fabulous cast of characters. Henrietta "Henri" Anderson, former Delta Force sniper, has served 2 years for a crime she didn't commit, set up by an ISIS terrorist. ICE (International Clandestine Enterprise) has figured out she is innocent, and has gotten her freedom for her. In exchange, they're asking for her to work for them, but Henri isn't about to subject herself to work for an unknown agency now that she's free, so she takes off to live in the sandstone home and mine her grandfather willed her, a hut no one knows exists except her. Somehow (well, with the help of satellites), Mike Rose, a hot ginger Scot and former SAS operative, tracks her down all because of a bet with his fellow ICE agent, to convince her, by letting her know if she comes to work for them, they'll help her track down Omar Fadli, the man who set her up and got her sent to prison.
I absolutely loved Henri. She's fierce and badass and when around Mike, also a fierce badass himself, she can't help but fall for him. Mike is the perfect foil for Henri. He's a protective warrior in his own right, and when he falls for Henri - watch out to the men who try to harm her.
Set amidst all the action you could hope for, Body Shot is one of those romantic suspenses that nails it on all fronts. If you like your romances with suspense, action and sexy, badass heroines and heroes, Body Shot is the story for you!
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
This is the second in this series and it's a great book. The series is grabs your attention fast and keeps it to the very last page. This book did the same and had moments of humor too.
Mike has been at this a while and his newest mission is to convince a new recruit to join. Not such an easy job considering she's been wrongfully imprisoned for two years.
After getting out of prison for a murder she did not commit Henri had decided to take her back pay and go home. What she doesn't count on is a Scot who has come to talk to her not leaving after making her position clear with the first bullet.
I am a huge fan of this series and cannot wait to read the next one.
