Puntaje: 4.4 Estrellas.

Marvel's Mightiest Heroes Book 27, collecting three stories of the Soviet spy-turned-Avenger.
The first features the Black Widow's first appearance, as a Russian femme fatale sent to assassinate Tony Stark.
The second story has Natasha Romanov using an encounter with Spider-Man to overhaul her image and launch her new career as a costumed crimefighter.
The final story takes the retired Natasha back to her roots, as she discovers the secrets of the Soviet spy programme that trained her.

The first two stories here are both very much of their time.
The first has Black Widow as little more than the token evil-commie-of-the-week but is a perfectly enjoyable Cold War era Iron Man story.
The second one is a bit sillier, with Natasha deciding to attack Spider-Man just to see what his powers are and find out if she can match them. That wouldn't be so bad if she was still a villain at this point, but this is supposed to be her turning over a new leaf, so attacking another superhero feels pretty weird. Full credit to Stan Lee's honesty however (well, here at least), because he includes a text box that openly admits this whole encounter has just been a glorified advert for Black Widow's own soon-to-be-published solo adventures.

The third part of this book is pure brilliance though.
Morgan's 'Homecoming' is an espionage thriller in the style of the Bourne films but with a hard-as-nails femme fatale in the lead role. I loved that the author worked the theme of women's daily struggles against misogyny into the overall narrative of Natasha's struggles against a group of shadowy assassins.
It's also a very personal tale for the character where she has to explore where her moral limits are after a mixed life as both an assassin and a superhero. It culminates in her learning that everything she thought she knew about her past, from her childhood to her defection, has been a lie. That could easily have come across as cliché, but both the writing and the artwork do a brilliant job of portraying Natasha's sense of horror and betrayal.

The book is definitely worth reading just for 'Homecoming', but you might find it interesting to see how the character has developed since her earlier appearances too.

3,5/5. If the MCU move had been faithful to this source material, it would have been a great movie. I like this Marvel more to the ground, that puts in the right places real life issues like how society in general perceive feminity and womanhood. However, the story is not very cohesive, the plots are moved quite abruptly, and the drawing although brutal and grounded is not of my personal liking.

Love the art and the story was intriguing and I'd love to read the next part of the story, or I assume theirs a next part it ended on a little cliff-hanger (Homecoming)

But jeez vintage spider-man comics were sexist, though it was interesting to see Gwen outside of a "Death of Gwen Stacey" comics. Still reading it felt like such whiplash I had to knock off half a star

Despite the graphic aspect is not as clean as I was used to, the style grew on me. The origin story of Black Widow as she discover her own past was the best narrative I jave read so far in this series. Highly recommended.

(This review may contain spoilers).

Having seen the Avengers movie and caught some information about Black Widow (or Natasha) through Hawkeye's comic book, I was fairly eager to learn a bit more about her history and see more about her as a character.

I've noticed that it seems fairly normal in the Marvel universe for some heroes to start off as villains and then become heroes. I was quite intrigued to see Natasha as villain, semi-hero and then completely heroic.

It was good to see the different styles of comics that Natasha was a part of. The first two comics, while containing some scenes of violence, were much more family-friendly... while the next six were much darker in tone and in the violence that was shown.

I found myself empathising with Natasha quite a lot. She came across as a strong female character, though I noticed that she seemed more willing to get her hands dirty and battle in the later comics. In the first one especially (and in Hakweye's version), she seemed to manipulate people more emotionally and let others do the violence. I found her evolution from the first comic to the final ones quite an intriguing one and it would be good to see more of her and about how she evolved as a character.

The pheromones thing in the final comic was quite an intriguing one and I thought it was interesting how Natasha knew what was going on, but couldn't do anything to stop it.

I would have liked to know more about Natasha's past, too. It was strongly implied that there were others who were Black Widows, but it seemed like Natasha didn't ask for all the answers. I could understand why, but I still would have liked to learn a bit more about her history and what made her who she was.

It did seem that the later comics contradicted the earlier ones a little. That might be because I've only read part of the storyline, though.

I liked Natasha when she decided to get involved to save the girl who was being attacked. I didn't like Phil's character much, even though he did seem to be a little more likable towards the end.

It was also good to see more of the other characters from the comics and how Natasha interacted with them. This collection definitely made me interested in learning more about Natasha and it was interesting to see her history in the comics and read about her relationships with the others.

So i wanted to give Black Widow a go and got this! This consists of 3 stories The Crimson Dynamo Strikes, Beware The Black Widow and Homecoming. The first one is mainly just a iron man story, but did mark Black Widows first appearance! The second one, Black Widow is looking to reinvent herself in which they explain how she gets her black suit of today. By reinventing herself she wants a challenge so she goes after spider-man, but hes in the mids of losing his powers so she doesn't get much out of him. The third story is what really sold me, its a spy espionage story! Black Widow is in a retirement stage where she is attacked by an assassin and now must find out who wants her dead, it was a great story! Overall i think this book was well done, the stories they put together was well placed, seeing her work for The Cremlin, become her modern day self and than in her own solo story was well paced out! I recommend this especially if your looking for a jumping on point!

In Tales of suspense (1964) #52 Natalia plays a small role in seducing Tony Stark. Again, people are a product of their time. Even Iron Man think of her as nothing more than a pretty gal despite knowing that she's employed to destroy him.

Spiderman said that Black Widow is a copy of himself in the Amazing Spider-Man (1970) #86 and he guesses that correctly. Though Black Widow comes back to her senses and decided that her own skills is better than copying itty bitty Peter Parker's. What I like the most about this chapter isn't Black Widow's lengthy intro but the fact that Peter Parker is smart and they didn't forget about that when they gave him a superpower. I so wanna read something where Iron Man becomes a mentor to Spider-Man.

Yes, finally the 21st century. Hello Black Widow (2004), I welcome the familiar art with open arms. Awesome back story. Phil Coulson playing house with Sally Anne is cute too.

Black Widow the Marvel's femme fatale, introduced as a soviet spy during the 1960s and then she seemed to appeal and became a hero and has gone from strength to strength.
This has some early stuff when she was simply the femme fatale but then it also brings us the mini series which is just brilliantly dark, very edgy and with some great art work.
The story is a bit twists and turns like any spy type thriller but it also has a very human side, very drama for Marvel.
You have to feel sorry for a character who has grown up conditioned and not really knowing who she is or what she could have been if not for being thrust into the world of espionage and the KGB.

Black Widow has always interested me, so I figured where better to start reading about the character? The tale delved into her history, along with that of the Russian Black Widow program which she was a part of. The result is pretty good, especially with the opening stories detailing her first appearances.

A quick read. I'm not really a comic book reader, even though I am a fan of the stories. I tried out Black Widow because I am on a quest to find strong female characters. I suppose I found what I was looking for.
