My Plunge to Fame: Gaynor Young's Story
In December 1989 Gaynor Young, a young talented actress stepped onto the stage of the State Theatre, Pretoria to debut Guinevere in the musical Camelot. What should have been the most important night of Gaynor's life proved to be catastrophic. Mistakenly, Gaynor stepped into an unguarded lift shaft and fell 18 metres. She came close to death and spent weeks in a comatose state. She spent months in hospital and rehabilitation, and was left with severe brain and physical damage.

Rather than allow herself to be corroded by self-pity after the devastating injuries cut short her acting career, she gritted her teeth and got to work with the help of a strong faith, a loving family, friends and therapists to make the best of her severely changed life.
