Political intrigue, action, adventure, and romance. What more could you ask for? Okay, I could have gone without Patience's peculiar, mythic version of ebonics. But by the end I didn't completely despise her unique grammar. I really liked Rhycious. He's that perfect blend of wounded warrior, take-charge alpha, and sweet romantic that makes for the best kind of book boyfriend. Baffling language aside, Patience is the ideal partner for him. Where Rhycious is grounded and reticent and stabilizes some of her more flighty tendencies, the bubbly, sunny demeanor Patience displays to all keeps Rhy from withdrawing further from life. I know there must still be more to the story of the rebellion and I look forward to reading more about the inhabitants of the Boronda forest.
Troll-y Yours
With that opening scene, I wasn't sure what I had gotten myself into with this book. I adored Alek in the first one, but I was horrified to see who he starts out this story as. I was very grateful to see that it doesn't take long before he's back to the sweet, wounded warrior I recognize from book one. Ella is a hoot. She's so many contradictions wrapped up in one feisty little package, it's no wonder Alek can't help but fall for her. I both love and hate the way the rebel mystery is handled here. This episode is tied up nicely by the ending, but it's obvious there's more to come. I look forward to seeing what's next on the horizon for the Boronda's inhabitants.
