Welcome to Myrtle Grove, a small town nestled in the lake country of Oklahoma, where life revolves around friendship, family and Sunday dinner, and no one seems to have noticed the recent rise in the local murder rate. The founding members of the Myrtle Grove Garden Club are Jesse Camden and her mother, Sophia, who are co-owners of the Gilded Lily Tea Room and Coffee House, along with Vivian Windsor, who is Myrtle Grove’s resident oil heiress and a lifelong friend of the Camden ladies.
Bonus: Recipes included in each book. Three complete books in the boxed set are:
Murder, Mayhem and Bliss (Book 1) When the husband of Bliss Kerr, niece of Vivian Windsor, is found dead in their pool, Jesse Camden hurries to the side of her dear friend, Vivian. As murmurs of murder grow, and Bliss’s future darkens, Vivian turns to Jesse for help. With eager assistance from the Garden Club, Jesse sets out to find a killer, painfully aware she has no idea how, and failure isn’t an option.
Murder Most Thorny (Book 2) Jesse Camden’s reunion with an old friend comes to a shocking halt when a tornado drops a dead body out of the sky almost on top of them. When that body proves to be her friend’s ex-husband, Jesse scrambles the Garden Club together to help dig up evidence of her friend’s innocence. Unfortunately, all they dig up is another dead body.
Murder on a Silver Sea (Book 3) A string of accidents and a wealthy dowager’s fatal fall send Jesse Camden and her Garden Club bestie, Vivian Windsor, rushing to a remote island in the Salish Sea to search for a possible murderer and fulfill a promise to safeguard the small dog who inherits not only the fortune but the danger that comes with it.
These books were very interesting reading. Proof that great books can be written without vile language. The stories are excellent , the characters well written and interesting. A series not to miss
Better than the first two books. I still don't like Jesse but I love Vivian. Sometimes her books get bogged down in detail and description. This one not as much. Then there were a couple of times when the book jumped into fantasy or maybe just a lack of knowledge. Overall, it was good read.
Three well-crafted weird "whodunits" with lots of suspects and unanticipated endings. Good character development, with some even having a change in self-awareness. That said, I got more and more annoyed at Jesse, and almost gave up because of her. I mean, I know prickly people, and they don't usually categorize themselves as wanting to "help people" and "fix things." Not to mention, scary that she even drives, because she goes into mental fugues and has to be startled out of them -- she says she is just figuring things out. All in all, she's like an immature 20-something woman who unfortunately is middle 40s and still clinging to a heartache from high school. Kind of ruined the stories for me. 5 stars for good plots and few typos.
Fascinating characters. Heart-stopping action. Humor. Eye-catching descriptions and detail. This series has it all. The Set also has previews of 2 other books, including the next book in the series and a spin-off from Book 3 (you'll have to read it to find out). This was very enjoyable reading. I love it when I score a fantastic freebie or discounted book from Amazon. Thanks, Loulou Harrington.
I really love these characters! Vivian is who I would like to be when I grow up. Jesselyn is an intelligent woman with a huge heart. Her mother, Sophia, is delightful and totally supporting of Jesse. The murders they get involved in solving are unusual.
Good book to read on a rainy spring day with a cup of tea or a gin and tonic. Another murder and once again Jess finds herself asked to solve it. For someone who is new to the game she and her cohorts manage to get involved and somehow figure out who, what, when and most importantly why. Glad to be along for the ride.
I really loved this series! The women were spunky, fun, intelligent. Each mystery was unique. Lots of twists and turns, humor a and great characters. I will definitely look for more.
Good character development, interesting plots. I was hooked! The stories flowed from one to the next without break. I ended up buying the remaining 2 books in the series so I could stay with the Myrtle Grove Garden Club a while longer.
Fun to read. Small town group of ladies, lead by Jesse, form a club to solve mysterious deaths. Well written and quirky characters make these books enjoyable to read. This set includes the first three books. I highly recommend! Plus recipes are included!
I enjoyed reading light mysteries that can be connected or independently read. It is relaxing to read something that lets you think without being overwhelmed. I would recommend this for everyone.
I really enjoyed this 3 books. Small town, nice little Tea Room we're ever one gather each morning to catch up with the lasted news. And of course talk about the lasted death. These book are an enjoyable read. I sure did
Will recommend to everyone! Jessica Fletcher, Jane Marple, and Phryne Fisher all rolled into one modern day sleuth/heroine, Jesselyn Camden. Bring on more stories!
