I honestly am not a huge fan of voyeurism because I can’t imagine if it happens to me, how I will feel like my privacy has been robbed. BUT I admit that Ken’s job sounds pretty dull. I think I can understand how a little peepshow to the neighborhood is what can save him from death by boredom.
Not sure about the romance; doesn’t feel like it has enough foundation even if it is mentioned that Ken and Jimmy knew each other in school and they actually had secret crush to each other. Plus Jimmy doesn’t appear to communicate face-to-face with Ken until around a third way and since this is a short tale I’m not satisfied with the pace.
Nonetheless, I am giving an extra rounded up star because I think the "Love, Actually" vibe in the end is kinda cute.

Working to watch security screens of the mall Ken sees a lot. When a waiter from the bar is taking a short break and stands in the shadow Ken is watching him. He can see how the waiter makes some particular movements and when he recognize them he is shocked and curious and aroused.....when the guy is ready he winks at the camera.... When this happens more than once Ken can't wait for his next shift...
Ken had a crush for Jimmy for ages....Still has....He doesn't know Jimmy is not far away and has an eye for Ken...
A 60 page read. Fast, nice and sweet. All the friends and colleagues were engaging.... For real depth and development this story is too short.....but that was the intention. Endearing sweet read, written in a very enjoyable way!!

Ken’s job at the CCTV is mind-numbingly dull. Until something different happens.
Jimmy plays to win with a bold move. Too bold? Hmmm….definitely gets attention, but is the reaction what he hoped for?
Loved the friends and the setting. Plus there’s a whole lot of steamy goodness, but it ends just after it starts. It seems more like the first couple chapters of a book instead of a full story.

I like the London Lads series by Clare London, and Peepshow, number four in the series, was a good addition. I enjoyed it all the way up until it ended, but I was left wanting more. There was lots of build up to who the mysterious waiter was in the backyard portion of the restaurant that was teasing the CCTV cameras, but after the big reveal then the story went really fast and I wanted to know what happened to the couple afterward when they started dating. I did really enjoy Ken and his group of friends. Simon the matchmaker, and Roger who’s just come out of the closet and is making up for lost time by sleeping with everybody. And as part of his matchmaking skills, Simon tells Ken about a former high school student that has come down from Oxford College on break and is trying to look up old students to find out what they have been up to.
But Ken can’t exactly remember what the former high school student looks like anymore, and his friend Simon says that he no longer looks like he did in high school. And, of course, Ken can’t help but wonder if the mysterious waiter’s actually the former high school student. But he can’t tell for sure because the waiter never gives him a clear shot of his face. I did like how conflicted Ken felt about watching the waiter and how he felt like a voyeur and a peeping tom. He’s both disgusted and excited by it and finds himself looking forward to his shifts to find out what the waiter’s going to do next. All the while, Simon’s trying to hook Ken up with the former high school student. But when Ken finally finds out the identity of the mysterious waiter, he still isn’t sure how he should feel. And he can’t help but feel that the waiter isn’t just performing for Ken like he says he is but that he’s performing for whoever’s watching. Will Ken be able to conquer his fears and trust the waiter and have a relationship with him or will he let his fears get the better of him and let it destroy the relationship before it has a chance to start?
There are a couple of hot scenes in this short story which I really enjoyed, but I wanted to know what happened next. Maybe the author will continue their story sometime, and I will get my questions answered. I would love to see what happens to these characters. I was also kind of disappointed that the story ended at page 42 when I thought it was going to page 54 and that 12 pages were used to promote the next book in the series and the other books in the series. That was part of the reason I was surprised that the story ended when it did. I thought I was going to have another 12 pages of story and then it was just over.
I was just like, no, I wanted more. But for those 42 pages, I was nicely entertained

Ken might not have the most boring job ever…but it probably comes in somewhere in the top 5. Spending his nights stuck looking at CCTV monitor screens over the most uninteresting bits of a shopping mall, he has a lot of time and so very little to do. That is until he catches a hot waiter doing some very non-waiter-y things behind a trash can.
While I was a little worried that this story would come off as a total creeper-fest, I do think it did a decent job of being self-aware enough to acknowledge the kinda dubious nature of perving out on a total stranger thru a security camera. That Ken is not all that comfortable having done so helps tone-down the creep factor, and made it an easier read for me.
Mostly this was just an ok story. I don’t think we got deep enough into the characters for me to really buy any type of grand romance between them…but since this is really only the story of how they started to date, I can kinda live with that. Had the characters been declaring undying love by the end of these 60 or so pages I would have never bought it, but as is, it works for me.
I do wish that we had gotten either more of them in the present, or more about their history together, because while there are certainly hints, they as characters don’t really jump off the page. Ken, as the main pov, has better grounding…but even he comes across as underdeveloped. I was never quite sure how old he was or what he studied in school. The British school system confuses the fuck out of me anyways, so I am never quite sure how old anyone is or were at certain points in the past. And the other MC doesn’t get much page time at all. Well, other than his performances.
This story wasn’t bad, but by the end of it I was left feeling not nearly as satisfied as I wanted to be. And having come off another short story that hit it out of the park in nearly the same amount of pages, I was kinda disappointed that this one was unable to deliver another small gem.

This is a super short read which has a fun outcome, via a pretty unusual (I am assuming!) route.
Most of the action takes place whilst Ken is sat watching cctv for a security company during his summer holidays from Uni. The rest centres round his evenings at the pub with a couple of mates from school/uni. Somehow Ms London manages to give us quite a lot of information through these pub chats, and so clears the way for the unexpected outcome.
I am two minds as to whether I want more, or actually whether it was the perfect place to end ... It is a quick read - you will have to go and find out for yourself what I mean!
I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
I’m still not sure whether this story is very sexy or kinda disturbing. There’s definitely something delightfully naughty about the public wanking in this story. I’d never thought too hard about the people who watch CCTV for a living and I’m still wondering how the author came up with the idea for this story.
This is a very short story and most of it takes place before Ken meets his mysterious wanker. There is more elicit voyeurism and exhibitionism in this story than actual sex but beyond the ick factor of workplace wanking (especially by the waiter), some of the scenes are very hot.
The characters in this story are typical uni students and there’s not really any attempt to develop them further before they hook up and we get an HFN.
I’m not sure about the pacing of this short story. An awful lot of time is spent establishing Ken’s tedious job behind the CCTV screens and less time is spent establishing the relationship between these two guys. But ultimately, the story is hot and a little bit kinky - and I kinda liked it.
Well, I found it a wee bit slow at first but it eventually morphed into a nice little read. Part of a series I haven't read but I think each is a separate story.
Peepshow is the first book I've read by Clare London and I enjoyed it a lot. It's book 4 in the London Lads series but you don't have to have read the others first; I haven't and I didn't feel like I was missing anything.
Ken's summer job is watching the CCTV (closed circuit TV) in a shopping center in the evening. The job is boring and he tries all kind of things to keep his mind on his job. One night he sees a cute waiter on his break at the back of the restaurant where he's taking his break. Ken swears the guy winked at him.
Peepshow is a short novella coming in at 63 pages but it kept my interest. I couldn't wait to find out the story behind the waiter seeming to flirt with the CCTV. Did he know he was being watched? This was a really fun story and I certainly would read more stories by this author.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
***Review will be posted to Xtreme-Delusions dot com on 8/14/17***
Ken’s late night job as a mall CCTV security monitor is as deadly boring as his life in general until he spots a cute waiter taking a break in a back alley. He slowly becomes mesmerised by the waiter’s nightly appearances until he realises the waiter knows he has an audience. I felt like this short story tried to be two things at once - romantic and voyeuristic - and it didn’t do justice to either in such a short word count. The narrative spends a lot of time detailing Ken’s boring shifts with only the occasional waiter glimpse so the voyeurism was unsatisfying. Ken was as colourless and fuzzy as his ageing b/w monitors, the narrative spending the rest of the time detailing his discomfort and zoning out while at the pub with friends over a few nights. So the half-hearted romance, pushed into the final pages, was unsatisfying too. This promised much and delivered little.
In 'Peep Show' by Clare London we meet Ken, a college student with a boring summer job watching surveillance cameras for a new shopping center. It's not the most exciting job but he needs the money. As Ken keeps an eye out for anything suspicious, he's surprised to find something very intriguing. There's a waiter at one of the restaurants who goes out on his break and attracts his attention. It's much better than watching the other dull things he usually sees. Ken has never thought of himself having voyeuristic tendencies, but he becomes fixated on Mr. Waiter. The longer he watches, the more explicit Mr. Waiter's antics become and Ken has a sneaking suspicion that he knows the waiter; there's something very familiar about him that he just can't place. It's exciting, but the more Ken thinks about it, the more Ken feels guilty and dirty, yet he just can't stop watching and reacting to Mr. Waiter.
Ken has a group of very close friends with whom he shares almost everything. He tells them about Mr. Waiter and they have an interesting and very British exchange speculating about who he might be. Unfortunately, they aren't any help. Ken has just about given up when he accidentally meets Mr. Waiter. When he finds out who he is, he's not so sure about wanting to be with him. What is good in theory, isn't so good in reality, so he hesitates getting together with him.
This is an entertaining short story. It's witty, cheeky, and enjoyable. It even leaves us with a message: Fantasy is one thing and reality is another thing all together. It may be exciting and pleasurable to fantasize about something, but often those things should stay in your imagination. Thanks, Clare, for the cute story.

This book was ok. I honestly thought that it would have been a little better then it was but all and ok it was interesting read.
Ken works behind a CCTV keeping an eye on the upscale shopping and restaurant area. It is not a very exciting job or at least it was not one until recently. Now Ken is second guessing his thoughts about it not being a good job because it seems he has an exhibitionist on his hands with a waiter from one of the restaurant me that he is in charge of keeping an eye on.
The only problem is the waiter seems to not want Ken to see his face or again at least not until the waiter is ready to reveal who is to Ken.
When the reveal comes Ken find himself second guessing th reasoning behind keeping their identity quite. So this was an unexpected blow to what could have been the start of a great relationship. Now Ken is not so sure since the person in question is not only someone he knew but also Ken wonders if this was all just some sort of game or laugh at Ken's experience.
This was a good read but I was really hoping for a little more. Not sure exactly what that more could have been but there was definitely something missing in my opinion. Even still it was a good read.
Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review
Okay, I will admit, I truly enjoyed this short novella! It was a little like crack. So much fun!
Fairly simple concept. Ken spies someone while working who captures his attention, and seems to be "eyeing" the camera, just for him. He is intrigued, and although he thinks it's wrong to be as intrigued as he is, he can't help but be fascinated.
He finally gets to meet his guy, and turns out he really was doing it just for him, because he had been wanting him for several years.
This was just a fun novella. No real angst (unless you count Ken's angst at the handy in the security office ;) ). What I enjoyed the most though...was Ken's snarky internal monologue. As a university student in film, he clearly had tons of time watching movies, and quite often had an internal movie quote for every situation, from Forest Gump to Star Wars. They made me laugh every single time.
I had not read any of the London Lads stories prior to this one, but now I want to go read all of them! I enjoyed her writing so much.
Peepshow is a very quick read (it took me about an hour or so), and is a good choice for something light with a touch of voyeurism. It also has a hint of second chance to it for a little added intrigue.
I did like the characters (even if Ken’s friend Robbie could be a bit over-boisterous), and the pretense of the story is what drew me to it in the first place. It did feel a bit incomplete though, since we actually don’t get to see a lot of the main couple together, nor do we get to see if their relationship winds up being successful.
As for Ken’s Waiter on the CCTV? I’m on the fence with how he’s gone about getting Ken’s attention. I keep wavering between creepy, hot, and just plain odd. But once they get together in person, that kind of faded into the background…but again, that incomplete feeling I got made me wish the story was twice as long as it was so we could get more about these two guys.
If you’re looking for an interesting, quick read and like a bit of voyeurism, be sure to check Peepshow out…it’s meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.
This is a short story that has a fun premise. I liked the meeting, and I liked how all that went, right up until they go on a date. I don’t want to give more away, mostly because the story is so short that there’s not a lot of conflict. Ken’s biggest issues are getting out of his own head and the resolution is rather quick and sweet. This is a fast read and one I mostly enjoyed. I felt like I was in Ken’s head and it was a comfortable place to be, as I dug all his pop culture movie references. That said, I couldn’t really get why he was so frustrated over his waiter’s shenanigans, so that detracted from my enjoyment. In all, I’d have liked a little bit more to the story, to add a bit more tension and a more reasonable conflict.
I enjoyed the premise of this book and the execution was good, at least up until the end, because I expected more.
I really liked Ken and how torn he was over watching his waiter on the CCTV camera. There was a bit of a mystery over who the man was and I liked how the author teased us over the waiter's real identity. I thought the two of them had great chemistry and would've loved to see more of the two, which was why I was so disappointed when I got to the end and there wasn't anything more. With it being a second edition, I would've expected the author to at least add a last scene where we got at least a resolution with a hint of a HFN. It didn't have to be long, but as it was I felt it was incomplete.
Anyway, the book is short, sweet and well-written, and perhaps others might not mind the ending as much as I did.

PEEPSHOW Clare London Aww, such a sweet little romance! 💗 Totally enjoyable short story, coloured by Clare's usual down to earth British humour. (this author is so good at weaving little bits of situation comedy into her stories. Little things that we, as everyday people can so easily relate to.)
This book is a unique take on the "online romance" trope in that this relationship develops via (naughty) interaction by way of CCTV camera.
Told in 8 chapters entirely from one character's pov. This, however adds to the relative mystery of mc 2 and the story could not be told any other way. It was quite delightful! I loved it. Highly recommended. 🔥 Heat level around 2.5 for some moderately descriptive scenes and some naughty words, but absolutely no profanity. * Disclaimer : I was offered, and accepted a complementary copy of this re-release (with gorgeous new cover) and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This novella had an interesting and unique premise and colorfully entertaining characters with plenty of zealous and witty dialogue and inward conversations. At times, I found it difficult to follow Ken’s thought processes and references – likely just a cultural disconnect with the U.K. terms and endearments. The eventual plot conclusion – the ultimate identity of the waiter that Ken had been watching through the CCTV security cameras – was a surprising twist, and the author’s storytelling from that point on was delightfully done. Some things do truly work out, when they’re meant to be. The minimal inclusion of gut-wrenching angst added to the appeal, and the HFN/HEA ending was a maturely formulated and well-scripted surprise for this reader.
I voluntarily read and provided a review of an Advanced Reader’s Copy.
Peep show is a short, sexy romp. The story is new adult about a group of friends from high school. Some still friends, some just returning from school or travels. Ken has a summer job watching CCTV cameras. It's boring and he questions himself watching other people that don't know he is there. One night a sexy waiter starts playing to the camera catching Ken's interest but making him feel more like a perv.
His friend Simon keeps trying to set him up on a blind date but Ken resists until he thinks it could be his sexy peep show, performer.
I liked all the characters and the storyline is cute and sexy. If you are looking for a hot, really short story to while away an hour or two this may be for you. I don't think it's safe for work though!
I loved this short and sweet story about reconnecting with an old crush (and haven’t we all wondered about doing that occasionally). Ken and Jimmy are both adorable and it was easy to feel involved in their story and I thought the way they reconnected, at the end, was cute. Due to the short length of the story, there isn’t a lot of time to get to know them in-depth but we get sufficient information via Ken’s friends to feel that we know them enough. There wasn’t anything to dislike about this sweet, no angst story with some steam and many movie quotes (thanks to Ken). A great read to pass a pleasant afternoon. I was given an ARC of this book to review and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.
The fourth in this the fourth in this series is the lighthearted story about Ken who's summer job is watching the security cameras at a mall. It's mostly boring until he sees a waiter at a cafe putting on a peepshow for the camera. Ken can't decide his excitement makes him a pervert or just lucky. When he meets up with his mates at the local pub he discovers an old friend is working at the cafe. When he realizes his waiter is not Ollie he is relieved until he finds out its really Jimmy his school crush. A lighthearted read that has quirky characters and much innuendo along a few hot and steamy scenes.
This was a quick fun read. I love Clare's writing style. Its a sweet tale but much too short, I want to know more. There is lots of room to use your own imagination with this story. I need to read all the other shorts in the London Lads series. I received this book as An Advanced Reader's Copy
Suuuuupppper quick read. It’s a bit odd and a bit underwhelming but it was so short it did t really matter.
Ken works as a security guard and watches cameras all night. He notices a waiter at a restaurant and begins watching him do stuff on camera. You eventually find out who it is, it’s kinda weird, and then it ends.
Kinda spicy but it read like an extra credit paper. 🤷🏻♀️
Okay, so they had a crush on each other in school. This does not establish chemistry. Nor is it established that Ken likes being a voyeur, he's ill at ease with his job as it is. That being said it was an alright book otherwise.
This story was quick to read and full of fun quirks. The characters were fun to read about. Loved the exhibition aspect of the book. I would have loved to of read this as a long story.
A charming and fun coming of age short about student Ken, who takes a summer job monitoring CCTV in a local shopping centre and gets more to watch than he bargained for!
This story combines saucy and sweet as the tease in front of the cameras promises true connection and romance. Just lovely!
