Can a weeping willow grow into a steel magnolia? Ellie Cochran doesn’t think so. She is a lost soul if there ever was one. A life filled with unimaginable loss does that to a person. Tired of fighting for one that doesn’t seem worth living any more, she knows it’s time to make a decision.

A stop for coffee is the last place she expects for that choice to be forced on her. But when the bullets start flying will she choose death–finally crossing over the threshold she’s been hovering at for two seemingly endless years, or will she choose the hope she sees in a tall, beautiful stranger’s eyes?

Nikolas Jensen didn’t know grabbing a coffee before work would turn his world upside down. He didn’t plan on making any life-altering decisions when he walked through those doors either. But that’s exactly what he has to do. When death is staring you down from the barrel of a gun, do you save yourself, or a woman you just met?

Their paths now stitched together by one traumatic morning, Nik and Ellie must pick up the broken pieces. Can they do it together or will Ellie's demons be too much for them both?

➦This contemporary romance is a first book in Magnolia Series and also Alexandra Page's debut. After reading the blurb I knew that this was going to be an emotional second chance love story. It follows two characters who help each other heal. There's grief and heartbreak but there's also hope.

➦While I thought this book had interesting characters with compelling backstories, I have to be honest and say that it's the delivery that I've struggled with here. The writing style flows well and I can definitely tell that Alexandra Page has a way with words, but, somehow, this novel wasn't successful at grabbing my attention all the way...

➦There were some events that I felt should not have been revealed as early in the story as they were. I wished for more anticipation. I felt like I was told too much information and was watching from the sidelines for things to unfold instead of being immersed in the book. More flashbacks to the past would have been awesome. I wanted to be "shown" not "told" in a lot of cases.

➦I don't discourage anyone from reading this book and you should definitely try it out for yourself if you enjoy emotional reads with tortured heroines an sweet heroes. One thing to keep in mind is that this book does end in somewhat of a cliffhanger and there will be another book to follow.

Ellie is beautiful and smart, but so unlucky in her life. She has sadness and severe depression and sees suicide as her only way of trying to end her deep pain. When a complete stranger reaches out to save her during an armed robbery at a coffee shop, the most wonderful of things happen. Hope, healing, inner strength and yes, instant love!

The depiction of Ellie’s feelings is quite good and the characters are likeable and well developed. The author delivers a book with characters that come alive and a story that touches your heart. The romance is perfect but a bit cheesy, and the relationship develops at a steady pace. The sex scene near the end of the book is incredibly written, very intense and emotionally sensual.

Overall, this is an engaging romantic story and I’m looking forward to the next installment.

It's an exciting, emotional read with lots of feelings & instant love encased in it.
⚪🔸⚪
From a Grievous & Tormenting past Ellie dares for the first time to do something which she didn't do in years.

A change of plans lands her in front of Nik Jensen, but it was the wonders of the faith that altogether twisted both of their lives.
It only took-
One moment, One accident, One encounter
⚪🔸⚪
Ellie and Nik are the most adorable & cutest couple.
Their instant connection & chemistry which held fire will engulf you with a promise to take you on a journey of emotions, love, depression, struggle and revival
⚫▫⚪
✨ " You’re amazing. You may have a few cracks, but last I checked, everyone does & Ellie, cracks can be filled."✨
⚪🔸⚪
Ellie had a tormented past and Nik had his fair share and with their despondent feelings it had binded them together.
Faith had given a chance to redeem and revive from all those torturous past.
⚪🔸⚪
The accident leading to their encounter may had harm Nik in some ways but it drive Ellie and Nik close to each other and guided them to a path of love.
I Felt high with the amount of love that was flowing through Nik for Ellie.
▫⚫
“You’re a beautiful person, Ellie. I wonder if you have any idea what you’re doing to me,” he whispers
⚫▫
He wanted Ellie so much, he was ready to be with her, accepting her with open arms with all the scars she was marred with.

Hesitant as Ellie was, she did felt something growing for Nik, but that tortured, haunted past that it had broken her that past was a living nightmare, latching itself within her & creating a wall between them.
Nik was the only hope, she had seen after so many years, and if she tries she could unite with him & embrace the happiness she so deserved.
▪⚪▪
Give this story a chance as it shows you that even though you are broken and fallen apart there's still hope left, all is not lost..
those dreams of happiness will become real, if your love & will is powerful enough.

If there was such a thing as "Emotionally Raw, Slow-Burn-Insta-Love" as a romance genre, then that is exactly where I would place this novel from Alexandra Page.

It's written in a way that is raw and real, ballsy and unapologetic, so at times it's painfull yet always beautiful to read.

The feels that swamped me as each page took me deeper into Ellie and Nik's tale were so honest, I couldn't help but be swept away by them & their unfolding story. The characters, (lead and supporting), the situations & their reactions were the polar-opposite of contrived, giving the whole story a "real-life" quality.

Broken & defeated collides with open and hopeful when our hero characters are thrown together in a way that not only makes you believe in romance, but that there really is such a thing as soul-mates.

Now, it's not a dark read, but it does deal realistically and factually with themes that are far from light & fluffy. So yes, there's (low level) angst, but the author balances this out flawlessly by giving us many other emotions too - humor, anger, hope, friendship, desire and of course, love.

I laughed, I cried, I overheated reading about a sponge bath... because let me tell you, Nik Jensen is quality book boyfriend material with a capital Yes Please!

Heads-up, the book does end on a "one-liner-bomb-drop-reveal", but it's one I saw coming, (and if you're paying attention you will too), so I don't know that I'd go so far as to call it a cliff-hanger ending, more of a "To Be Continued."

Looking forward to book two & more of Ellie & Nik.

PS: Am I the only one who's hoping for Cash's book at some point? Some sassy southern belle needs to climb that lumberjack like a tree. #JustSayin

*I was provided an ARC of this book, with no expectation on the part of the author that they would receive a positive review in exchange. My review reflects my genuine opinion of this book.*

*** ARC GENEROUSLY PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW ***

This Book was a very emotional journey through love, loss and support.

Ellie Cochran is our main female lead. She has suffered through a lot in her past and she is tired of her grief. I really enjoyed reading Ellie. She is a very strong character. Even though she is suffering, has tons of panic attacks, the book doesn't get carried away with excess description of these attacks. She doesn't get miraculously healed. She is in her journey of healing and we are right there with her.

She is Strong, sometimes sassy and sometimes really emotional.

Nikolas Jensen is a very well written male character. He is a furniture Designer (which is so cool btw), he is hot and sweet, and a very very good person who gets protective of Ellie. He is a very vital character in the book and I really did not find any fault in the character.

Story - - The Story mainly revolves around one specific situation that I don't want to reveal. But that kinda story is one of my favorite themes. The book does not span a lot of days. But it kinda works for this couple. Even if these two had an instant connection, it was a very slow build romance...and I mean really slow depending on the length of the book. But it was totally appropriate depending on the time that passed in the book.

This book had the characters truly exposed at their ugliest. And it was pretty amazing to still find them endearing. Overall, it was a great story and I NEED THE NEXT BOOK LIKE NOWWW...!!

- Dual POVs
- Steam Level - Low
- Cliffhanger - Yes
- Character ratings - 5 stars
- Good intro to side characters too
- Good Story

Arc provided by author for honest review. This happens to be Alexandra's very first book. I can't tell you how proud and happy I am with the results. I ate this book up From start to finish. I couldn't put it down and quite frankly it was so good I didn't want to. I adored Nik from the very start. I mean come on blonde hair blue eyes, killer body and omg his personality just sealed the deal. I also think Ellie has alot of work head of herself, she neds love herself. And she can only do that. Buy letting her past and go. I know easier said than done. But I believe in her and Nik! Can't wait for book 2!

{I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an Honest Review}

This book is so wonderful! It is written so well. It is about Grief and finding Hope and Falling in love again. This is a very Slow-Burning romance and a really emotional read. I loved it. This Book is SO good! Ellie and Nik are so great I really love them.

Ellie has been through a lot in her life and has expereiced an insane amount of loss she is so full of grief it's hard for her to live. She can't see the point in life anymore then she runs into Nik. Seeing the life, hope, and happiness in his eyes stirs something inside of her makes her feel something that she hasn't felt in a long time. Then he saves her life. A gorgeous strangers that makes her feel things she never thought she would feel again like hope saves her life and almost dies in the process. She knows she has to stick around and make sure he is ok, but she has to stick around to see if the feelings he makes her feel are real. Ellie is sassy when she wants to be. She suffers from panic attacks, but she is strong.

Nik is such a good guy. He protects Ellie no matter the cost to him. He wants t get to know her. She is different. When she offers to stay for him he jumps at the to spend time with her. He knows that something is wrong he can see the sadness in her eyes. He wants to help her and make her happy. The more time he spends with her the more he can fall for her. He has never been in love and he wants to make sure he gives her time to fall for him because he doesn't want to lose her ever. He respects that she needs time to grief and that she needs time to be with him. He will do whatever it take s to keep her.

This book was so wonderful. I haven't read anything like this. It was so emotional and so good. I really enjoyed the slow-burning relationship. I usually don't but it was written so well that I just loved it. Alexandra actually talked about Ellie's grief and let her grow into these new feelings and had Nik respect her space. The Grief wasn't just thrown out the window it was actually worked through. Alexandra wrote an amazing story and I can't wait to see more from her.

Book two "Heal Me" should be coming out sometime this year and I am so excited to get to read and see more of Nik and Ellie.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC as an exchange for an honest review...

Well, this was my first read by this author and it won't be my last. From just the epilogue alone, I was hooked and knew that sleep wasn't going to be an option for me. If you love heartbreaking-beautifully written-raw-take-your-breath-away-emotional-love-story kind of reads, this one is for you. So grab the tissues, pour a glass of wine and fall in love with Nik and Ellie. Their story will take you on a journey that I like to call; ALL. THE. FEELS.

My heart hurts for what Nik and Ellie have to go through. Their love story isn't an easy one, and they must fight for what they have. And that ending..... my poor lil heart..... Tears were shed... and I by that I mean sobbing...

**This ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review**

Save Me was definitely a quick and easy read, but one that made you really take a look back at your own past and life struggles. Be prepared for this story to stir up a lot of personal emotions and for it to linger with you for days to come. Alexandra Page has an incredible way of breaking your heart, putting all the pieces back together, just to break it again.

The main female character is Ellie Cochran. She is a young woman who is trapped inside a cage of panic, constantly believing she is “Cursed, no good, doesn’t deserve happiness, and everyone is gone because of her.” She has lost everyone she loves in her life, and is riddled with guilt, believing “it’s all her fault, it’s all her fault, it’s all her fault.” She has traveled to her in-law’s family home in Alabama to sort out the “monsters” inside of her.

While in Alabama, she meets Nikolas Jensen, in Starbucks of all places. He is a professor of furniture design at the local college. Ellie describes Nik as “foot after foot of strong, trim muscle,” and nicknames him Mr. Gorgeous. While standing in line waiting to order, both of their worlds are tipped upside down and changed forever.

The next thing we know, Nik wakes up in a hospital bed asking for Ellie. At the same time, she is in the nurse’s lounge, suffering from one of her many debilitating panic attacks, and blaming herself for what happened to this perfect stranger that is now fighting for his life because of her. Along the way, she meets Nik’s friends and family, who are very protective of him. Nik has never been known to be the type to settle down with one woman, so they question her motives when Nik continues to ask for her to remain by his bedside. Ellie tires of the constant questioning from his friends and family, so she lays it out on the line for them. She ended the conversation with “I just couldn’t do it. I was done fighting. I came here a week ago with the intention of killing myself.”

Nik spends the next several weeks in the hospital, with Ellie by his side the entire time. When he is ready to be discharged, they conclude that for his recovery and mobility, Ellie’s home is the best option. Once they are at Ellie’s home, they begin to build an emotional and intimate relationship. Both Nik and Ellie start to bare little pieces of their souls, allowing you to fall in love with them even more.

Nik struggles the most with their emerging relationship: “She reminds me of a beautiful little hummingbird. Every time you see it come near, you want a closer look, but it’s so tiny and skittish it vanishes from sight the moment you get too close, fearing you mean it harm. I can touch her, but not too much. I can look at her, but I can’t look at her the way I want to. I can talk to her, but can’t ask what I want to know most.”

Nik and Ellie have taken some big steps and have labeled themselves officially a couple. The author leaves us with a cliffhanger ending. We are left with Nik finally asking Ellie “Who is Lucas?”

On a personal note, I really enjoyed reading this story. The author takes you on quite an emotional rollercoaster, and has an incredible way of allowing you to experience pain, fear, sadness, happiness, lust, and ultimately love. The only thing I struggled with is the fact that Ellie cried about every single thing. As a mental health therapist, I understand that people deal with trauma and grief in many different ways. However, Ellie’s extent to which she cried was a bit excessive for me.

Save Me is a well written novel with complex characters you will never forget. I am so glad I found Alexandra on Instagram so I could read the book early. Each chapter is a joy to read, yet you will be glad to move on to the next one to see what is happening. The story carries itself and will keep you locked in and waiting patiently for book two. This book is so sexy that even with Ellie's tragedies you will envy her.

This book ends on a cliffhanger. The 4 & 5 star ARC reveiws fail to mention it and it's not disclosed in the author/publisher blurb. That really irritates me so I'm making sure you all know. It was kind of odd how long it took the characters to get together but now I know the reason is because as soon as they did the author threw a wrench in it. I will say, I figured out the "twist" and was waiting for the author to reveal but I didn't expect it to just end once it's revealed.

Ok, that being said this was a book that totally drew me in. It isn't perfect but the main characters made me care for them. Ellie is a wounded bird who has fallen apart and been put back together but the cracks are leaking. A chance encounter with Nik sparks an attraction to dramatic events prevent it from being pursued while throwing them together at the same time.

There were tender moments, truly beautiful moments. It was slow in developing and at times I felt it dragged though I would not say I was bored.

The cliffy is not horrible like someone is hanging by their fingers from a cliff or anything dire. It's a previously undisclosed event that is revealed, shocks the person who is hearing it and then the book ends. I will definitely be reading the next book, I just think author's should disclose the continuation of the current couple's story in a future book.

Wow. I Am Blown Away.

Looking for emotional upheaval and sexual tension? This is where it's at. Save Me is romantic and uplifting, as well as devastating and tragic. It is beautifully written, with tons of dynamic chemistry between the swoon-worthy leads layered into a simple but powerful premise.

It does end on a sort-of cliffhanger. The main couple find their happy place, which is quite satisfying, but there's a tease of information (rather than a cut off mid-action) that leads into book 2. It's intriguing but not frustrating.

Absolutely recommended!

"Save Me," the first book in The Magnolia Series by Alexandra Page, is a romance as refreshing as a glass of ice-cold lemonade on the hottest summer day.

Ellie Cochran, a woman who's been emotionally shredded by her past, has new life breathed into her after a nearly catastrophic unexpected meeting in a coffee shop.

Nikolas Jensen, an irresistible, womanizing playboy, has no idea of the emotional baggage and self-loathing the attractive blonde standing in front of him carries. All he knows is he has an innate desire to save her--from others, from her past, and most of all--from herself.

I was instantly pulled in from just reading the prelude. "Save Me" is well written, full of depth, and definitely worth the read! On the verge of giving up, Ellie has a chance meeting with Nikolas that literally saves her life--in more ways than one. Through helping Nik, Ellie begins to see her worth and embarks on a seemingly impossible journey of healing.

The intricate way the author develops Ellie's character from the very beginning shook me to the core, as an avid reader of romance. I could really feel the emotional weight this character carried, and I was enthralled. Nikolas comes with an interesting sister and group of friends that help give the novel depth and rounds out the story. The love scenes in "Save Me" are scorching hot, and I was definitely not ready (but oh, so glad) for where Alexandra took me. There is a very surprising and intriguing cliffhanger or shall I say "revelation" that makes me want the next book NOW! With this author's incredible writing abilities, I have no doubts, the next book in The Magnolia Series will be just as wonderful as this one.

4.5 Stars!
This is a new-to-me author and even though I want to curse this author for making me cry on several occasions this was such a beautiful slow paced romantic read. I was sucked in from the very beginning. The blurb captured my attention and I knew I had to read this and geez I am so glad I did because I most definitely enjoyed this story.

Let’s just throw the important part out there ….. I have a hard on for Nik. Yup...I said it. Nik is mine, bitches!! Tall, handsome and fucking swoon worthy! He will melt your heart. The meeting of these two characters surely isn’t ideal and Ellie has been through enough as it is. But Nik, good ol’ Nik just gets all swoony and melts her panties off. *sigh*

This story is just absolutely beautiful. This author does a great job at making you feel what the characters are going through because I was a hot fucking mess. This book had a great story line, great characters and character development. I mean it was just so beautifully written. So heartwarming and emotional. I loved it. I adored these characters. I’m so glad I found this author and was able to read this wonderful story. I cannot wait for the next book.

This contemporary romance is a first book in Magnolia Series and also Alexandra Page debut.

When I started to read this book I was excited and curious.

Every moment between the main characters. I was wrapped up in their emotional outburst.

Ellie, a woman who’s been emotionally shredded by her past, and she is tired of her grief.
And Nikolas Jensen, he is professor of furniture design at the local college.

All of the characters in this book are so relatable and real, you can see parts.

This book threw me into a real scenario where I was forced to truly think about everything that I would our could possibly do in the situation the characters were in was a very emotional journey through love, the forgiveness and support.

The best book are the ones who makes you think and question what you think or know. They give you perspectives and insight. They challenge you to make through choices.
This story had me on the edge of my seat. I attempted to figure things out before they happened. The author takes you on quite on emotional rollercoaster.

Wow. This is my first book by Alexandra Page, and it was fantastic. Yes, Ellie has had an unimaginable past, full of hurt and heartache, yes she cries a fair amount, but if your put yourself in her shoes, would you not feel the same way? She meets Nik in a most unexpected way and feels some sort of attraction, some sort of intrigue from the very first moment he smiles at her. Then the survived a horrible situation, only to find themselves leaning on each other to make it through. Nik is a fantastic guy. Strong, sensitive, funny, sexy, and just the kind of man that Ellie needs in her life at this very important moment in her life. The book does end on sort of a cliffhanger, but if you had paid attention to the clues given throughout the story, you will figure out that it will end like this. I am diving right into book two - Heal Me, and I can’t wait to see where Nik and Ellie and up and where their story takes them next!

I can't begin to make u understand how this book made me feel, i was nervous from start to end.

I don't think i have rooted for a couple this hard. They have everything going against them, a horrifying start to their lives together and a painful past that might rip them apart before they even begin.

This story is about finding love again for one and the first time for the other. Will they make it, will they be able to let go. Or will fear and doubt take over.

The only thing that bothered me a little bit, is that things seemed to go to fast between them. Don't get me wrong, i love me some insta love but with Ellie's past and everything she went through i felt it went a bit too fast.

But i loved it nonetheless.

I am emotionally invested in this couple and can't wait for book two.

I didn't expect the words to sing to me the way they did! This book is so beautiful and haunting and made me feeeel so much. Alexandra is the real artist. So much depth, honesty and pain. The light and dark within their lives made for the perfect amount of tension. As i read, I was consumed by the story and what would happen once the secrets were revealed. You know the moment when you're reading a book and close your eyes and take a moment to press the book against your heart and soak up the words because it's too much- this book will give you that feeling. There are some books that the words on their page will wrap around your HEART and SOUL and "SAVE ME" is top on that list, so 5 star isn't enough but that's the maximum they will allow me. Ellie and Nikolas are just perfect !

Sometimes a book just hits you. For one reason or another it just slams hard into your heart and this was one of those stories that just nestled in my heart and stayed there.
Life has a funny way of giving us what we need ever when we don't know we need it. This is the case for Nick and for Ellie.
Who's saving who in this story? It's doesn't really matter Because love just saves us all.
I was swept up into their world.
I am the worst review writer because I talk about how books make me feel and I don't summarize the story. So if your like me and want a book that will make you FEEL. This is the one for you!

I have read the preview of the Magnolia Series first installment several times and can't seem to stop. The narrative and action pulls me back into the story so strongly it's as if it is the first reading. The different points of view help to give insight to the damage these two strangers are dealing with, emotionally as well as physically and how the circumstances that throw them together bonds them so they can 'save' each other. Looking forward to the next installment, while I re-read and enjoy the first!

Its been two days since I've finished this book and I still cant find the words to accurately describe how reading it made me feel. From the beginning I was hooked and I stayed that way until the last word....I cant believe it has a cliffhanger (loud sobs), but this just makes me crave the next part of the story even more. Save Me was also my first Alexandra Page book but I know it most definitely be my last!!!

Save Me is the haunting story of woman who has last everything, but finds the courage to reach out to a stranger, and change both of their lives for the better. It's an emotional roller coaster of a ride, but it's a story that will linger, reminding you to never give up on the difference that love can make in your life.

Oh my what a sexy and sweet story all rolled into one. Ellie and Nikolas meet in a normal fashion at a coffee shop. But what should have been a normal beginning suddenly turns, the twist and turns are truly the beginning to a very strong romance. Amazing story!!!

Such a sweet, heart wrenching to heart full story! A chance meeting and the chance to make both lead characters stronger together. Can't wait for the next book in the series to come out! Couldn't put this one down!!
