Mist Killer
The land of Lortia has been at peace for a thousand years since the Mists appeared. The people don't know where the Mists came from and no one goes near them because those who do, do not return. Lifelong friends, Brand and Gavin, have long held a family telling of what really happened before the Mists arose and of a book they desperately need. The King, in his library, runs across a "Book of Legends" and a mysterious passage about his demise and how their world will change dramatically from what they now know. Brand and Gavin set out on a journey to save their King, only to come across a people, the Wildmen. The friends find themselves in the hands of the Wildmen and find the stories they have been told are not quite the truth. What will happen to Brand and Gavin? Will the friends be able to save their King and their lands? What power does the Mist hold and what will happen when they fall?

I can tell there is a lot of heart in this story, and the author has a mind to take things into unexpected places. The world and magick were very interesting, and I found myself wanting to know more. Each character seemed to have a lot of interest and potential, and I wish more time was put into exploring and playing with that. The Mists were probably my favorite part of the world, an ancient and mysterious sacrifice. I’d love to see this reworked, as many things needed more time to be explored, developed and come into their own. A really wonderful start, and I hope to see more to come.
