The Gods were eight. Then they were gone. Years after their disappearance, humanity continues to grieve. Ascension drops the reader into a wonderfully fleshed out world where the gods and their magic have left, but still permeate every character's thoughts. Caleb and his cohorts in each distinct section ignite the story with their vibrant personalities and unique arcs. After learning of the world and its primary conceits, I couldn't wait to dive further into Ascension's lore through its rich history, intriguing geography, and colorful cast.

This first installment in a must-read series ends with a satisfying jolt and a promise of more epic adventure--it's sure to please seekers of deep fantasy lore and beautiful storytelling. Don't miss this one.
