Looking for a book that offers a simple, doable daily practice for Advent? Trevor Hudson designed this study for busy people who want to carve out a few minutes each day to have a more meaningful Advent. He focuses on one biblical "word of wonder" for each day of Advent. His brief meditations will help you gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of Advent. As Hudson leads you to explore 4 significant characters in the Christmas drama, you will discover how to open your heart and life more generously to God. His simple yet not simplistic approach will help you prepare your heart and mind for Christmas.
I’m not real big on devotionals because I always forget to do them but this was a lot of fun to do with my friends. I liked how reflective it made me of the time leading up to Jesus being born.
I loved Hudson's emphasis in this easy to read book: wonder! The Advent season is full of wonder and this book helps us remember that. By taking a word-a-day, Hudson uses a short Bible passage to illustrate the particular aspect of 'wonder' the word highlights.
Each day is one to two pages long and Hudson, like all his books. uses an invitational language to encourage us. There is a 'practice prompt' at the end of each devotion that I found a useful way of reflecting further on the word of the day.
