Victoria Thomas is one of the FBI's finest criminal profilers, a career born of the tragic, unsolved murder of her younger sister. She's also a closet "Sherlockian," involved in a group that follows the famous English detective. This hobby leader her to London, to a symposium on Sherlock Holmes, where she finds unexpected passion...and a chilling murder mystery involving a modern-day Jack the Ripper.

He's murdering women and leaving clever, diabolical messages for Victoria to follow. He's teasing her, taunting her, daring her to find him. For he, too, is following his calling--answering the terrible demons of his bloodline, proving he is every bit as elusive as his infamous ancestor.

In the chilling Bloodline , Jill Jones weaves a spellbinding tale of icy suspense, haunting romance, and lost history, that spans from the time of Jack the Ripper in 1888, to this very day.

I'm a curious soul with a vagabond spirit, raised by a loving family with a dad heading a geological oil exploration crew in the mid-twentieth century. We roamed like gypsies throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana in search of cracks in the earth's surface that promised black gold. That upbringing instilled in me a love of travel, adventure, and a curiosity about the history and culture of the people of the places where we lived.

After graduating the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Journalism, with a specialty in fiction writing, I spent two years in Europe, an experience that broadened my horizons and opened my young eyes to a wider world than I had ever imagined.

Since those early days, I have lived in many houses, including a 45-foot sailboat; I have traveled to many places, made many friends in faraway countries as well as my own, and written books set in places I found fascinating and intriguing. As you read my books, please know that the research for each was in-depth, and the locale is authentic.

For nearly 25 years, I lived in western North Carolina, in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. I served for 10 years as the director of a local history museum and 12 years as the Director of Marketing & Communications for the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area. In my work, I traveled and met fascinating people in this region and learned about the unique history and culture of western North Carolina. This experience spurred me to write a different kind of story: Freedom's Edge, an American Trilogy. It is historical fiction about the early immigrants to the South who arrived in America before there was a country called America. Western North Carolina and the Appalachian mountains were among the earliest of the country's frontiers, and my story is an imagining of what the lives early settlers were like, set in the context of the French and Indian War, Cherokee Wars, and the War for American Independence. Because of its length, I have divided the story into three parts: Escaping Yesterday, Surviving the Now, and Fighting for Tomorrow.

I am married with three adult children, seven grandchildren and a cat, and now reside in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Good book dealing with Jack the Ripper. Pretty fast read with a bit of a surprise, which I figured pretty early book.
It is still an entertaining book and one you might enjoy. Read on Friends!!

Fantastic romantic suspense!
I loved the seamless weaving of what the hero calls 'Scotland Yard's biggest failure', Jack the Ripper, and a modern day copycat dubbed Traveling Jack. Crossing the pond after a murder in London's Whitechapel neighborhood, traveling Jack crisscrosses the U.S. carrying out half a dozen horrific murders--with the heroine his ultimate target.
The romance between the British inspector and American FBI profiler was believable and refreshing.
Loved it!

Captivating Read!

Well done! Great storyline...had made convinced them had solved the Ripper murdered. Passion runs high in this well crafted, suspense filled story. Onto the next Jill Jones stone.

I’ve long been fascinated by the unsolved Jack the Ripper murders in 1888 and have my own personal speculation on who Jack was. For the most part, I enjoyed this story that centers around an FBI profiler who is battling her own personal demons trying to solve the murder of her sister several years before. After an especially grueling case, Victoria is all but ordered to take a vacation. She shanghais childhood friend, Trey, and they depart for London to attend a weekend seminar featuring a speaker from Scotland Yard about the unsolved Ripper murders.

For the most part, I enjoyed the story that mixes the historical facts with the growing romance between Victoria and Jonathan Blake. Throw in a Jack the Ripper copycat killer who is murdering women and has chosen Victoria to receive his dark messages and graphic and disturbing gifts. The identity of the modern day Ripper provided a satisfactory closure as well. My problem with this book was instead of ending the story with the killer being captured and Victoria and Jonathan riding off into the sunset, the story continues and goes off the deep end into a conspiracy theory about the 1888 Jack’s identity and a bunch of cloak and dagger moments and cover-ups.

I may be in the minority here, but though several theories about Jack’s identity make logical sense, I personally feel that there being no resolution is a big part of the appeal of this case. If you can overlook the last chapter, maybe even skip it all together, you may enjoy this story overall.

This is a great book, my best friend gave it to me on my birthday and I couldn't put it down once I opened it. It's great for readers who likes mysteries and descriptive kind of writing. This is the first time I ever read this kind of genre, and this is what made me want to read others like it.
If I don't have something to do, this is the first one I get from my bookshelf.

I am a big fan of Jill Jones. I read this one after I read The Island. It wasn't as good as the Island but this book showcases how well Jill Jones uses contemporary elements as well as historical elements for a great story. I like the twists and turns. It is just a great suspenseful read.

I loved this book so much so that I have read it twice. Loved the characters, loved the plot and I loved the writing. Of course I figured out who the killer was the first time I read bloodline but that did nothing to halt my enjoyment.
