Great conclusion to this story! Loved the single Ma angle and the fact that Eve is so fiercely independent! Sam honors this while at the same time wants to take care of Aaron and her. The two of them were a perfect fit! Lots of steam along with touching & funny moments! Side note: got teary eyed at the Linkin Park guitar reference... :(

I'm so proud when book friends take a leap and write a book.

Hold is Kristi's second book in the Drazen World and is the love story of JD's friend Sam and a co-worker of Monica.

Feisty single mum Eve and sexy as hell Sam. The true love story for me was how Sam fell totally in love with Aaron. Squeezed my little heart.

The Brilliance of the Author's Title, "Hold"!

Ms. Beckhart is truly doing justice to "The Drazen World" in this her latest release, "Hold". She also follows nicely in the footsteps of C. D. Reiss with the clever and sophisticated wordplay of naming this offering " Hold". For you see there are numerous meanings attributed into this word, "hold" with so many apropos to the read.
This is the continuing story of Eve, the beautiful biracial single mother who had to rebuild her life after being "held" like a prisoner, locked up for days on end in a closet with her baby boy, Aaron. And, central to the continuing storyline is her relationship with Sam, the owner of "The Stock" hotel and restaurant who recently revealed that he had in the past enjoyed D/s erotic play. This revelation of Sam's erotic past was frightening and confusing to Eve who had but a duffle bag worth of possessions, her baby boy and her strength of will to "hold" onto as she escaped the nightmare of an abusive past.
The short novella is all about the confusion between loving D/s play and actual physical abuse. The confusion that Eve "held" in her mind.
Along with her love and desire for Sam, could Eve find the trust in Sam to set free her natural submissive nature in their love play?
Intrigue and suspense add to the richness of the tale with the return of her abuser from the past and the pressure put on Sam by his disapproving older sister who "held" a very dim view of Sam and Eve's relationship.
Sam's overriding desire is... to "hold" Eve and Aaron safely in his arms away from the past and the lurking danger from her abuser in the present.
I have had the unique perspective of reading "Drazen World" literature before reading the masterful author, C. D. Reiss who created this world in a genius opus of a book series. I have found "The Drazen World" literature written by numerous authors and namely here Ms. Beckhart to be revelatory and instructional. There is no telling of the value in returning to a world that is beloved by the fan.
There is a distinct genius to "The Drazen World" in which both author and fan exchange ideas, introduce new characters, ideas and themes and develop storylines that can literally spin out into infinity. (For me, I found the introduction of the new character, Belladona quite charming ;))
I would invite anyone, the novice in navigating "The Drazen World" and, most especially, "The Drazen World" lover to once again visit this world through the eyes and pen of Kristi Beckhart. Simply one click to begin or add this to your collection. Your world will be richer for the read.

Kristi Beckhart's follow up to debut, Run, is Sam's side of the story and it's hot and sweet and satisfying. Whether you're a Drazen fan or just looking for a great little single mom finds a new life and love type story, Ms. Beckhart's duo is an easy, enjoyable weekend read.

I love the Drazen World but some of them just cant hold a candle to CD Reiss which makes these hard to rate since they are essentially mini stories off of her main story. The grammar is fine but the story is just boring and overdone I didnt get the Drazen high I expected and I am now taking a break from the Drazen world. I feel I may be trying to make the connection and getting my hopes up
