Good book about love, healing, and letting go of the past. Daniel returned to his hometown after his unborn baby died and his wife walked out on him. Now he buries his grief in work as he sets up his new practice, and has decided that falling in love again is not in the cards for him. Even the thought of it brings back the pain of his losses.

Keela is a lovely Irish lass who came to America to marry the father of her daughter. But the man she married wasn't what she thought he was and his betrayal cut deep. Now she works for Daniel as a physical therapist and raises her daughter on her own.

I enjoyed the development of Daniel and Keela's relationship. It started as a purely professional one, with Keela handling everything in the office easily, including Daniel's sometimes grouchy moods. They have also noticed each other in a more personal way, but their pasts discourage them from pursuing it. Then one day Keela needs Daniel to watch her daughter for a while. I ached for Daniel as he panicked over his ability to do so, and the paralyzing grief that swamped him. I loved how Anna's sweetness pulled him out of it and started him on the road to living again. Keela can't help but notice how good Daniel is with Anna, which warms her heart toward him. There are some terrific scenes involving Daniel and Anna. It isn't long before the sparks between Daniel and Keela flare hotter. I enjoyed seeing them get to know each other outside of work, but each of them was holding back a bit, worried about being hurt again.

I got a little frustrated with Daniel's frequent flip-flops on their relationship. Things would be going well, then something would happen to ruffle his memories and he would pull back. This was hard on Keela, whose husband had pulled back from their relationship after their daughter was born. I ached for them both as they let their fears come between them. I liked seeing Daniel take a good hard look at himself and his future and realize what was really important. The ending was great as both of them take their courage in hand and face their vulnerabilities together.

The Delaneys of Sandpiper Beach miniseries begins with a story about two people who felt betrayed in their previous relationships. Now Dr. Daniel Delaney and Keela O’Mara are very wary of becoming involved with anyone else, and this has them holding back when they come in contact, though there are so many aspects that draw them closer whenever they are together. As the lives of Daniel and Keela keep interconnecting on a professional level, they wonder if seeing each other outside of work is worth the risk. Lynne Marshall manages to pull me into every scene in FOREVER A FATHER, where characters are always genuine and any emotions are heartfelt.

After his life plans changed because of an unforeseen event, Dr. Daniel Delaney decided to return to his hometown and open a clinic for physical medicine. He is glad when new patients come to his practice located in the coastal town of Sandpiper Beach, California, and the physical therapist whom he hired is very capable. Keela O’Mara even puts up with his frequently cranky behavior, which Daniel knows is not deserved yet she never complains.

There are moments when painful memories haunt him, so the doctor tries to keep his focus on business and stay busy. One afternoon, the young daughter of Keela ends up spending some time with Daniel at work, and though he is not thrilled about the interruption in his plans, the lively four-year-old is easy to entertain. Now if he could just stop thinking about the girl’s mother whenever their paths cross, his days would be greatly improved.

Often, an individual has a difficult time moving on after being deeply affected by an agonizing incident. While Keela may not be ready to let a man back into her life just yet, she does get much pleasure from raising her daughter, Anna, and also now has steady work. Daniel is excited with how his new clinic is growing, but bad past recollections keep him from ever feeling truly happy. As facts are gradually disclosed about what occurred to these two before they met, I came to understand what caused many of their reactions to certain situations. What Daniel and Keela have experienced is very true-to-life, and Lynne Marshall takes them on a soul-searching journey filled with unexpected revelations.

I laughed when circumstances were lighthearted, and several moments when Anna is featured were especially cheerful. The conduct of this little girl had me smiling often, as the author made her charmingly convincing. There were also some serious events in the story, and I was touched by the sincerity portrayed by Daniel and Keela during any somber times. FOREVER A FATHER is exceedingly realistic, as every detail is believable. I quickly became caught up this couple’s quest to find lasting joy, and I thought their numerous emotional entanglements could actually happen to someone. There is another book about Daniel’s intriguing brother coming out next, and it sounds particularly interesting.

I voluntarily reviewed the book and all comments are my honest opinion

FOREVER A FATHER by author Lynne Marshall is a March 2018 release by Harlequin Special Edition series.

Dr. Daniel Delaney’s heart was in a shut-down mode after the pre-mature birth and death of his daughter and the subsequent leaving of his wife. So when his new assistant, Keela O’Mara asked him to babysit her four year old daughter, he was overwhelmed and out of his depth. How could he look after a baby girl? But then the little girl and her mum broke down all his walls and restraints.

He doesn’t see himself a fit dad for Keela’s daughter or as her partner. Yet he couldn’t ignore the longing he has for their love. Could they have a happy ever after?

FOREVER A FATHER is a mesmerizing romance filled with emotional intensity. Author Lynne Marshall has once again astounded her readers with her heart-warming story telling style.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

I really liked this first book in the new Sand Piper series. I enjoyed meeting Dr. Dan, Keela, and Anna. I went into it expecting a normal happily ever after from a Special Edition book and was quite surprised by the ending, really did not expect it... I look forward to reading more Sand Piper books and hope to learn more about Dan and Keelas story.

Dr. Daniel Delaney has returned to Sandpiper Beach, California a much different man than when he left. His hopes of a life with his wife and child were suddenly taken away and now all he wants is to get a physical medicine practice established in his hometown. When Daniel hires physical therapist Keela O'Mara he discovers that she is extremely capable as a therapist and very adept with dealing with his sometimes volatile moods. Keela is a young divorced mother who has also been deeply hurt by her past experiences but she has the advantage of a four year old daughter to buffer her pain. As they continue to work together it is evident that there is a physical attraction between Daniel and Keela but they're both reluctant to endanger their professional relationship.

This is a story that has believable characters dealing with very realistic situations. Many of us have been betrayed by people we loved and trusted. Feeling an attraction for an employer or co-worker happens often but acting on it is often discouraged by office policies and becoming involved with someone with children can be both frustrating and rewarding. So the reservations that Daniel and Keela each experience and the pain and sadness from their past relationships are very realistic and they make their possibility of a life together seem slim indeed! The bright spot in both their lives lies in the joy and happiness that four year old Anna eagerly shares with her Mommy and Dr. Dan.

Author Lynne Marshall has created a heartwarming story that is filled with the promise of romance, the possibility of a lasting love and the joy that comes from family. "Forever A Father" is the first book in her new series titled 'The Delaneys of Sandpiper Beach'. I look forward to reading more about Daniel and his two younger brothers.

Reviewed at Romance Is Ageless

Sometimes an event happens that changes your life, breaks the heart to a point of almost no return and takes your outlook on life along a different path. Betrayal and grief can destroy a life – if we let it. Trouble is no matter how strong we are or how determined to get on with the day to day living the memories just will not be silenced. They pop up at the worst possible moments to remind us of what might have been… if only. This is where Daniel is at the beginning of Forever A Father.

Keela has returned to Sandpiper Beach to start life over again after a pain-filled divorce. The light of her life is her five year old daughter, Anna. Too bad that the father is a total idiot who was abusive to Keela in emotional ways… and still pulls his bullying and non-show up dad routine to this day. She’s not looking for love again as her trust in anything male has been badly beaten down by her ex-husband’s continued actions. She’s content to live near the ocean, her job at Daniel’s clinic and having her daughter close by to love. Funny thing is, love seems to show up when we least expect it… and with the most unlikely people.

Forever A Father is a deeply emotional romance between two people who have been hurt so badly that taking the risk on loving again seems to much to ask. Without giving away spoilers, I understood Daniel’s stand. His pain is one that you never really recover from, but learn to live with. Keela’s reactions to Daniel are as natural as rain, yet she also carries baggage that makes giving her trust again a very difficult decision. I understood, and hurt as well as got mad for them both. Their former partners really did a number on them each and getting beyond that is going to take time, patience and understanding. But if you don’t know exactly why someone is holding back it’s difficult to offer those things. Little Anna is the sunlight in this romance. At times she’s so delightfully innocent that it hurts. Slowly she’ll steal Daniel’s heart – she already stole mine.

With a delightful group of secondary characters, some who will have the spotlight shining on them in future stories, Forever A Father becomes a steady, emotional, and entertaining look into the lives of this family. I loved and ached for Daniel and Keela, watching their journey to finding an everlasting kind of love was painful at times, always emotional. If you’re in the mood for a really good romance that will tug at your heartstrings, entertain you for a while and have you looking forward for the next story in this series… then I’d strongly suggest you get started on the Delaneys of Sandpiper Beach series with Forever A Father. You’ll fall in love, and believe in second chances.

I own a Kindle edition of this story.

This is a beautiful, sweet and so very heart-warming story, a story that will open the reader up to past hurts and to a journey that brings two people and an adorable little girl together and so deservedly, make yourself comfortable to read this one because you are not going to want to put it down.

Dr Daniel Delaney thought life was fabulous he had all that he wanted and then gone, just like that and it hurt, so he has decided that falling in love again is not going to happen and he has moved back home to Sandpiper Beach close to his family and started his own practice and all is going great but he needs to keep his mind on the job and not is Irish assistant Keela O’Mara and her daughter Anna.

Keela OMara came to America when she fell for American Ron they married had a daughter and then everything fell apart, so now Keela and Anna are living in Sandpiper Beach happily and Keela loves her job as a physical therapist in the new practice run by the gorgeous Dr Delaney, but like Daniel, Keela feels that Anna and her job are the most important things but sparks will fly and try to connect people.

This is a very moving story the emotions fly from the pages the characters are real and loveable the Delaney family are the best, Daniel and Keela are just perfect for each other and Anna what an adorable child she adds so much to the story. Seeing Daniel overcome his fears about being a father and falling in love again and Keela opening up again to a man this time a man who will love her as she deserves and Daniel being loved so much in return. This is the first in a series another bonus I am looking forward to Mark and Conor’s stories, thank you MS Marshall for a fabulous story.

Forever a Father by Lynne Marshall

I enjoy books with children in them, especially when the author gets their behavior consistent with their ages. Author Lynne Marshall created such a lovable character in Anna, the almost 5-year-old daughter of Keela.

The story was very much about Keela and Daniel (and Anna). While there were quite a few other characters in the book, the majority of the story revolved around just these two and their interactions. I was so glad that their relationship was so clearly not centered only on a physical attraction.

I also really appreciated that the tragedies in each of their lives were explained early on in the book instead of having the hints throughout and them not revealed until the end. It helped to better understand their motivations.

Daniel was a great hero. From his feeble attempts to resist Anna’s charms, his fear of getting hurt again, to doing the right things to show kindness even when it hurt, his character was just right.

Please note that I do not consider this story to be a clean romance. I didn’t realize that when I started the book. I would describe it as PG-13+. There are a couple places where Dan and Keela sleep together and while the act is not described, there are things that are described that put this beyond the level of romance I am generally comfortable with. If the book had been cleaner, I would have given it a higher rating.

Forever a Father is a sweet romance about two people who are starting over...but who both have many issues in their past that are standing in their way. Daniel is still reeling from a failed marriage and the loss of a child, which adds an extra layer of angst to his attraction to his assistant, who has an adorable five-year-old daughter. The book is the first in The Delaneys of Sandpiper Beach series, and introduces us to a charming town and family that has two more single sons whose stories are due to follow soon.

I really enjoyed all of the characters here, but the fact that the bulk of their conflicts were because Daniel wasn't willing to talk about his issues with Keela until virtually the very end made things very frustrating as a reader. Instead he seemed to blow hot and cold over and over again, confusing Keela about his intentions right after something major happened between the two of them and making her question if it was her (she also had a failed marriage in her past, so his reversals fed into her insecurities in a major way) when it was really his problems all along that were getting in the way. Things ended well--very well, and Daniel pulls himself together in the end to hopefully be the partner that Kella needs and deserves--but it still felt like she went through more grief than was necessary to get to her HEA.

Rating: 3 stars / C+

Adorably sweet and heart-wrenching all in one! My heart was stolen by a four year old! 🙂 Such a great story! The hero and heroine have both had a hard time with love in the past and carry the scars on their heart each and every day to prove it. Daniel has suffered immeasurable loss and isn’t sure he can heal himself enough to be any good for Keela and Anna … but he sure wishes they could be his! The Delaney family is really down to earth and fun to spend time with, and I’m looking forward to more to come in this trilogy!

Dr. Daniel Delaney is still trying to pick up the pieces of his life and move forward after suffering heartbreak and loss. He’s finally stepping outside of his comfort zone and making a go of a new practice, and his new assistant is turning out to be his best employee ever … even before he starts to fall for her!

Keela O’Mara is so grateful for Daniel giving her a shot at her dream job and she’s enjoying the fulfilling work. When her adorable daughter visits the office, it doesn’t take long for Dr. Dan to fall under her spell and wish he could call her his very own!

Forever a Father by Lynne Marshall is a Special Edition release for February 2018. Dr Daniel Delaney and Keela (love the name) have both had unhappy and tragic back stories and in addition to Keela's little girl, the three lean to love again.

Lynne Marshall has written a beautiful and emotional story which is solid and moving and delightful all at the same time. I love reading her stories because they take me away from day to day and the emotion is covered so well that I'm completely caught up in the characters, their feelings and the flow of the story.

A wonderful, wonderful story and the first of a series called The Delaneys of Sandpiper Beach.

Forever a Father by Lynne Marshall is a book in The Delaney's of Sandpiper Beach series. Dr. Delaney has been through a tragedy that keeps him from wanting to find love. This makes him want to keep people at an arms length. Somehow his pt assistant Keela is starting to seep under his skin. He doesn't know exactly what is about her and her little girl but they make him want things he didn't think he would ever want again.

This story is a sweet romance and good read.

Ms. Marshall has taken Daniel Delaney a Dr. of physical medicine Dr. and Keela O'Mara a Pt and put them working together. Daniel is trying to build his practice and make a living after the death of his child and a wife who walked out. Keela has an almost 5 year old and is trying to make a living to raise her daughter. Sounds like a normal situation in the medical field except working together both find feelings they thought were buried bubble to the surface. Daniel doesn't want to be near Keela's daughter Anna as it makes him revisit the past and Keela tries to stay away as her marriage was a disaster and she doesn't want to be hurt again. A perfect start to another terrific story, and just the first in a trilogy where you will get the meet the rest of the Delaney family. A lovely book that proves love conquers all.

Forever a Father (The Delaneys of Sandpiper Beach) by Lynne Marshall brings us to a series that was just a great read. This story gives us Dr. Daniel Delaney who has lived to a tragedy in his past and closes himself off to life other than work. His new assistant Keela O'Mara and her little girl Anna find a way to break the ice around the bubble he put around himself. SO GOOD.

Forever A Father a Delaneys Of Sandpiper Beach series by Lynne Marshall. Dr. Daniel Delaney past history, his wife lost a baby at childbirth. Daniel had delivered the baby at home. Then his wife said she didn't love him and left him. Lots of hurt to get over. Keela O'Mara past history, her husband brought her over from Ireland to marry her. Then after their little girl, Anna was born he had an affair and they got a divorce. He blames it all on Keela. He is remarried and still blames Keela when anything goes wrong when their four year old daughter, Anna, gets upset when her father cancels on their suppose to be days together. Like Anna's birthday or a day promised to the zoo. Keela now works for Daniel. Daniel babysits Anna at the office, one day when the ex doesn't pick Anna up like he was suppose to and Keela has to work because of appointments she has. The trust of a child. Daniel does more for Anna than her father does. Romance happens between Daniel and Keela. A VERY good read.

FOREVER A FATHER by Lynne Marshall
Book 1 of 3 in the Delaneys of Sandpiper Beach Series
Dr. Daniel Delaney had a wife, baby but lost it all and built up walls so he thought no one could break them down.
Then comes along his new assistant, Keela O’Mara and she has a little daughter, Anna, and will she be able to bust down those walls?
Anna is an adorable little 4 yr old who needs a reliable father in her life. She starts to work on him but little steps and finally asks the question of “Will you be my daddy?”
Dr. Delaney is afraid as he has endured more than he should have when his premature baby passed away and when his wife walked out on him.
Keela O’Mara was married and hurt deeply by her ex husband and so she has walls up also but she has found that she really fits well in the assistant position in Dr. Delaney’s office.

Forever a Father is the first book in Lynne Marshall’s new trilogy, The Delaney’s of Sandpiper Beach. I absolutely loved this book. I am partial to reading medical romances and I couldn’t wait to read about Dr. Daniel Delaney. Add in a doctor who has gone through a tragedy along with a nurse with a small child and her own issues and this book was perfect for me.

I absolutely felt Daniel’s pain and how he couldn’t let his past go. We often times don’t see this side to a physician. When a patient is lost, they deal with it but when they lose someone close it’s a totally different story. It was heartwarming watching Daniel learn how to accept a child back into his life and how he dealt with his emotions.

Ms. Marshall wrote such a moving story, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

One of the Delaney Brother's stories, in which Daniel Delaney's new physical medicine practice is going great guns. He's determined to make it a success and doesn't have time for anything else, in particular, not a romance. Not after the loss of the woman he loved and the baby she gave birth to too early for the child to survive. But now on the scene is Dr. Dan's PT, Keela O'Mara, whom his granddad thinks is the woman for Dan.

She thinks so, too, but she's still dealing with a nasty ex-husband, who keeps hurting their 5-year-old daughter when he makes arrangements to see little Anna, and then skips out.

When Dr. Dan pays attention to Anna, she calls him her "new dad," creating issues for Dan (does he want to be?), for Keela (what if Dan dumps her and Anna like her ex?) and for Anna's father (is he jealous?).

How all this works out is a worthy read on a dark winter day.

Once upon a time, Dr. Daniel Delaney had it all. The girl, a baby girl on the way, but he lost it in the blink of an eye when his girl had a miscarriage and he delivered baby Emma. He won’ let himself fall again—not even for his dedicated new (physical therapy assistant), Keela O’Mara, and her adorable, lonely little girl, Anna. Resisting a starry -eyed four-year-old is tough enough. Denying her perfect, loving single mom may be more than Daniel can handle. She has her own baggage, an ex-husband that is a constant disappointment to his daughter and a real self-esteem crusher for her. He has so much too overcome to be able to love, she has to find herself and her confidence before they can truly be together

Forever a Father is the first book in the new series by Lynne Marshall. It is entertaining, emotional and full of twists and turns. No books of Lynne's has fallen short of what I expected them to be. I look forward to the next two books in the series. I received a copy of the book from the author but the viewpoint is my own.
