DNFed @ around 65%.

Everyone who follows me knows I'm a sucker for a marriage of convenience trope.
And I do read everything: a good harlequine, forbidden, friends to enemies, enemies to lovers, historicals, stepbrothers and all the mafia shenanigans.

And this one did have a good start and a lot of potential but it was all lost due to the bad writing and a really annoying heroine who reminded me of a lot of a headless chicken, frantically ping-ponging between being her fake miss goody-two-shoes work persona and the sex obsessed dominatrix she really wanted to be right from the first page when Warren proposed.

In other words, the heroine was a truly pathetic mess.
And a really, REALLY annoying one, may I add.

I did like Warren though. Our hero. But he was supposed to be a ruthless billionaire bastard and all I saw was a quick turnover into a needy and clingy puppy right in chapter 2, when they got married and he gave her a very quick and uncomfortable (not only for the heroine but mostly for us, readers) peck on her lips.

I managed to get through their first sex scene and when the dumber than dumb sis decided to pretend nothing had happened afterwards and went back to pretend she was so professional, and that she didn't really ride her boss's cock half the night?
Yeah, that was the point when I was done with this shit.

So fucking done.

And angry af.

Because that was not what I signed up for when downloading this book.
I was hoping for a nicely written story for two people who fall in love with each other.

What I got, however, was a cringey insta everything with zero plot and a moronic heroine who got things worse every time she opened her stupid mouth. All this presented with some really lousy writing.

So thanks, but no thanks.

Won't be reading from this author any time soon.

Contract Bride by Kat Cantrell is the third romance in her sexy and entertaining In Name Only series, about three men who’ve made a pact to honor the untimely death of their friend by abstaining from love and commitment. Too bad it hasn’t quite worked out the way they’d planned!

Warren Garinger is a workaholic. Having seen his two best friends Jonas and Hendrix break their pact to stick to bachelorhood, he’s the last (albeit lonely) hold out. All his time is devoted to his energy drink company. When his trustworthy and reliable marketing consultant Tilda Barrett is told there’s a problem with her visa and she’ll have to return to Australia, Warren quickly comes up with a plan – a marriage of convenience that will give her the time she needs to get her immigration status in order while still being able to help him with his current project. He needs her, and unbeknownst to him, she has her own reasons for not wanting to return to Australia. A deal is struck, and along with it an understanding that there will be no intimacy between them. It’s to be strictly an in-name-only arrangement.

But in close quarters things don’t work out quite the way they’d planned. In their private thoughts, they’d both had fantasies about the other prior to their marriage, and now that they are spending time alone together it’s hard to keep their attraction under wraps. Tilda experienced an abusive relationship back home, and sexual intimacy is a challenge for her. Will Warren find the key to unlock a shared passion and change his mind about love and commitment?

Kat Cantrell is at the top of her game in her latest book. Contract Bride is a gloriously sexy concoction that hits all the right buttons. The story itself is fast-paced, genuine and angsty. The vivid writing pulls you in but it is the passionate characters who make you stay and savour the ride. I couldn't get enough of Warren and Tilda. The drama between these two keep you hooked from start to end. And that ending...just perfect!

4 1/2 STARS!

Can a marriage of convenience turn into love? Warren doesn't think that's even a possibility or he wouldn't have offered himself up when the mood struck! We recognize most of the supporting cast from the past books in this series, and it's fun to watch Warren have to let go of his past hangups to actually see the potential in front of him after he held such a grudge over Jonas & Hendrix for falling in love. I really enjoyed this series!

Australian marketing consultant Tilda Barrett finds herself in a real pickle when she learns there is an issue with her work visa and she must return to Australia in two days time and turn her job at Flying Squirrel over to a replacement. A secret past makes it difficult for her to ever return home again ... but it doesn't seem like she has any choice in the matter!

CEO Warren Garinger knows that Tilda is a huge asset in his current campaign to gain Australian market share, so there's no way he's letting her be thrown off this project. When all the legal channels turn up no options for them, he decides to take matters into his own hands and offer a temporary marriage solution. Little does he expect his tight-laced new wife to knock his socks off with one glimpse of what she wears under those prim and proper business suits!

I think Warren was adorable, if a little dense at times! But Tilda was patient enough to still love him when he finally came to his senses. And it was great to see how real friends are always there for you!

Contract Bride by Kat Cantrell is the third book in the In Name Only series. I’ve been waiting for Warren’s book and I think Tilda was the perfect match for him. Not only does she have issues with a past boyfriend, she also is faced with the threat of being deported. Warren, of course, has his issues stemming from the suicide of his roommate and close friend Marcus. His past affects his relationship with Tilda until he is faced with losing her.

I enjoyed watching Warren come to grips with the loss of his friend and his wife. It was heartwarming watching these two characters learn to overcome their past for a chance at a future filled with love.

This is definitely a standalone book but you should also read the other books in the series. I highly recommend reading Contract Bride. I’d like to disclose that I received and advance copy of Contract Bride. I voluntarily chose to read and review it. This is my true and honest review.

Author needed to do better research.

T he story of a green card marriage? An employee, Tilda, on a visa who wants a green card is being sent back to Australia in two days unless she can marry. Warren, the CEO, is willing to marry to keep her working on a project. Th two fall in love. Of course her green card is denied without one visit from immigration to investigate her quick marriage and she has to leave immediately. The author inserts an aside as to the current problems with immigration which were not needed. The ending and epilogue were not satisfactory.

Warren is a workaholic who thinks he has met his match in his assistant Tilda. When her visa gets pulled and she has to return to Australia he proposes marriage of convenience only to have them both fall in love. He suffers from guilty conscience after his friend killed himself and she is running from abusive ex.

He finds a way to help her overcome her fears and ends up in love. After she is denied a green card she still has to go home and he lets her. he soon sees tat he would rather have her than his company and follows her.
So glad love won.

3.5 stars. Not a bad book, not a bad plot, but I hated Tilda. I get that she had a traumatic past and had things to overcome, but... I don't know. I didn't like her, I didn't like how she handled herself or the situation. Warren seemed to have this sudden 180 personality change the second they kissed, which I get but at the same time a slower change would have felt more natural.

I'll admit. I'm just on the first chapter and I'm hooked. Especially with the MMC's idea of a manual for dumping men. Very funny.

The premise sounded interesting but I wasn't engaged by the writing style. This was a DNF for me.
