When I find myself face to face with Lucifer, I realize that what he wants from me could destroy Hell and the world. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for those I love, but I’m not sure I can do what is necessary to stop Lucifer’s plans… even if I’m the only one who can.
Kobal,
As the battle for Hell rages, the line between enemies and allies blurs. To protect River, I will do whatever it takes to destroy Lucifer and reclaim my throne. With Hell torn apart, I know two things for certain, many will perish, and nothing will ever be the same again.
Find out how it all ends in the epic conclusion to The Road to Hell Series.

Have I mentioned before how much I love Kobal and River? Have I already told you how much I love this series? Because I do. I couldn't get enough and now that I've reached the end, I only want more. More of these characters, more of the battles, more of the good vs. evil argument, and more of the love. It's every demon and angel for themselves and luckily my favorites have the advantage.
I felt like this book, the last book of the series, really did a great job of concluding this story arc. There were a ton of revelations that more than answered all of the questions I had built up from the beginning. River was far more than what I even thought, much more than anyone really knew. Imagine being part demon, part angel, and part human. Then imagine having those powers manifest within you over time. Then picture how you are the world's greatest hope to rid them of the threat that is Lucifer - her ancestor. Without him there would be no River. I can't even...
While there were many instances that drew on my limited compassion for the bad guys, I couldn't have been more thrilled each time Kobal and River beat them back. There's a lot of destruction in this part. Tons of blood and gore and death. Much to be expected, I guess. At times it felt as if for each step forward my guys went, they were blasted four steps back. But I knew that they had to triumph in the end. There's no way that evil was going to win. Right?
River has come into her power even more, but it's obvious that the love she shares with Kobal, their bond, makes her stronger. And while Kobal is the fiercest warrior of all, almost indestructible in his might, his love and fear for River have humanized him in ways not even he could expect. I just love these two!! I enjoyed the stength of their emotions, their willingness to fight and protect each other, and their sensual moments were so intimate. At the end of this book, I was happy to see that there will be stories about some of the side characters. They've definitely earned a special place in my heart and I'm excited to see where their stories take me.
If you love stories full of action and survival and friendships and family and so much love, this series is not to be missed!!
First of all, can I just say that the titles for the four books in this series making up a full sentence is freaking brilliant. No really, look: Good Intentions Carved The Road Into Hell This series grabbed my attention from book one and never released its hold for the remainder of the books. It’s not your average demon vs angels series...but then again, nothing Brenda K. Davies does is average. She has a way of blowing away everything you think you know about paranormal, supernatural, and fantasy and reworking it into something uniquely amazing that always keeps you wanting more.
River and Kobal are deep Into Hell both literally and figuratively in this book. River finds herself face to face with Lucifer once again, and what happens will keep you on the edge of your seat. Kobal is ready for the battle of his life—the thing he was born to do—but everything comes at a price. Nothing will ever be the same for earth again.
Into Hell brings the story of River and Kobal full circle. I turned the last page not only happy with where Brenda took the characters and story but also so excited knowing she’s planning a spinoff series called Hell on Earth. I’m already making guesses at who we’ll see again, and I know we won’t be disappointed! Then again, it’s Brenda, and she never disappoints!
This book is for you if… you're searching for a series that requires zero brainpower and offers even less.
⤐ Overall. I expected this to not be enjoyable and I was right. There are some interesting elements introduced into the plot and the world and they do make a bit of sense but my personal investment lacked the will to actually buy into it. The suspense of the story is just... poor.
I don't feel joy reading this, I'm not short of biting my nails or crying out loud. I'm not out of breath, clutching at my pumping heart. I'm just...glad that it's over. Let's leave it at that. I'm not going to rip the books apart. I read many of Brenda's books, over the last 4 or 5 years, not all of them are what the The Road to Hell series is to me. _____________________ writing quality + easy of reading = 3*
I love it! It's 4 books series which from their titles you probably can guess what the story all about. Good Intentions, Carved, The Road, Into Hell!
As I said in my previous review, it's like reading Alice in Wonderland, but in this one is River, the heroine adventure in Hell-land, well something like that.
The hero is a Demon King who tried to take his kingdom back from Lucifer and he need the heroine help because she was a World Walker and he need her power to fight the fallen angel with him.
Lucifer need to be destroyed because he unleashed the demons from hell and stupid human with their nuclear experiments accidentally help him further and now all those demons run free on earth, savaged and changed the world we used to know.
There were few similarities in this story with K.F. Breene's Fire and Ice trilogy but I feel like this series executed better than that one and River is less annoying compare to Reagan there:)
I recommended this series for everyone who loves this type of story.
Into Hell (The Road to Hell Series, Book 4) is now LIVE everywhere ebooks are sold! Find out how it all ends in the thrilling conclusion to the series! The $2.99 ebook price won't last long after release! I wrote this series under my other pen name.
I truly loved this series... Kobal is the epitome of a Alpha-Protective, Possessive, Head over Heels in love with his woman male... Wow I just love reading books such as this. Of how they beat any adversity that come up against them because they were stronger together then apart.
Bravo to the author who provided such great details and bibliography history and still kept to her imagination and fantasy of this story.
I will advise if you read this series to keep an open mind and enjoy the story for what it is.
This book definitely had me in my feels for the past few days. It had me on the edge of my seat, my breath caught in my throat, my jaw on the floor. I was very invested in basically everything that happened! The story evolves so much in this book and you learn about small things that happened or were mentioned throughout the earlier books. This was such a good ending to the series. :)
Great, great ending to this series. While this one started out slow, it really went out with a bang. It was pretty much non-stop action throughout the book. The ending was quite something. This book was also full of surprises and incredibly emotional! It had a favorite trope of mine in it, too.
Things to know:
💜 I adore Corson and Hawk and glad they both get a book!
💜 River sacrifices herself to close the gate and it was the most emotional scene.
💜 So was the scene where Kobal struggled to get her from the angel (yes, a heavenly angel) who had River.
💜 The angel who brought her back.
💜 Seriously an emotional punch.
💜 Again with all the softness.
💜 These two had me in tears.
💜 She reunites with her brothers and not in the way you want, with Gage being held captive by a dangerous bear while Bailey was being bounced on Lucifer's knee.
💜 It was a brutal scene leading up to the satisfying ending.
💔 We lose two beloved members of our team. It was unexpected and heart-breaking.
💜 This whole series is worth the read just to get to this last book.
💜 Loved the happy surprises we got in the book.
💜 Loved the epilogue.
💜 These two almost ended me.
💜 Leaning over her, I gripped the furs above her wrists and burned them away. Her arms fell to the ground before her hands lifted to cup my cheeks with her palms. “My heart,” she whispered.
“My everything,” I told her as I slid out of her before surging forward once more.

I enjoyed this series quite a bit, it ticked a lot of my boxes => post apocalyptic world => demons, angels and beasties => gorey fight scenes => epic romance I can see myself re-reading it in the future. Everything was wrapped up to my satisfaction 😌
I was very tempted to rate these last 2 books low simply because this series didn't need to be so long, almost half the damn book is repeating things we already know, reintroducing creatures and situations we already know!!! Ughhhh I was mad as heck
Anyways final brutal conclusion to Kobal's fight against Lucifer to regain his role as king of hell Lots and lots of brutality Secrets unveiled Friends, family and hounds lost So much loss and destruction before Kobal and River emerged victorious
Very interesting and entertaining series even though I had to skim all the stuff that came in previous books 🙄 I loved Kobal even with his heavy handedness and insistence on being obeyed....he eventually got some sense however I found myself more frustrated with River, every time she argued or rushed into situations she knew nothing about I wanted to bitch slap her I'd definitely read more from this author especially as there seems to be a spin off from this series about secondary characters
Interesting premise, brutal and gory at time and plenty of characters to love. I loved Kobal, his love for River and his growth. Other favorite characters include Corson, Hawk, Bale and the drink loving Skelleins (Lix, of course). I will definitely be reading the spin off series.
I actually enjoyed Into Hell. It had more story behind it. All the questions about who and what River is from the first 3 stories are answered. There is still lots of battles between demons, angel, fallen angels and all sorts of hideous creatures from Hell.
Kobal and River do succeed in killing Lucifer and taking back their throne from him. But this is a bloody story with a lot of torture. It was very hard for me to finish reading this series. However, I was determined to read something outside my normal genre's.
This series will not make you feel good until the very last story and only at the very end. So, if you are down in spirit or depressed don't read this series!!
The author Brenda K. Davies has a great imagination. It's some weird characters and scenarios going on The Road to Hell series.
River and Kobal are deep in Hell, both literally and figuratively. River comes face-to-face with Lucifer once again, and the events that follow are genuinely thrilling. The ultimate battle for the throne of Hell finally begins, and Kobal is ready for the fight he was born to face. However, every choice comes at a price, and nothing will ever be the same for Earth again.
First of all, can we talk about the titles? The fact that the four book titles form the complete sentence—Good Intentions Carved the Road Into Hell—is brilliant. Into Hell is without a doubt the strongest book in the series. Compared to the previous three, it offers more depth, a richer story, and much higher emotional stakes. However, the series could have been a bit shorter overall.
The world-building remains a strong point, with both awe-inspiring and terrifying creatures accompanying the story to its end. The Skelleins and the Drakóns were definite highlights for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and even shed a tear, which is always a good sign for me. It shows how emotionally invested and attached I became to the story and its characters. The book is packed with action, and all the questions that arose in the first three installments are finally answered and concluded in a satisfying way. That said, I wasn’t a fan of the final chapter. The ending, especially the last few lines, felt as though the author knew the story had to end, but didn’t quite know how to bring it to a smooth emotional close. While it provided the necessary information to wrap up the series, it failed to move me. It felt rushed and left me feeling oddly empty and unsatisfied. The only reason I wasn’t more frustrated is because I know there’s a spin-off that will tie into the ending. Without that knowledge, the final chapter would have been more disappointing, which is a shame because it was easily the most enjoyable book in the series.
I’m genuinely excited for the spin-off, especially since it will continue with Corson. I liked him a lot, and am curious to see where his story goes next.
This series deserves all the stars!!! Brenda had her work cut out for her when it came to ending this series, and she did not disappoint!
If the battle at the end of The Road between Kobal and Lucifer was anything to go off of, we knew that the ultimate battle over the rightful ruler of Hell was going to be catastrophic. Those two had battled it out for over fifteen hundred years and add in the fact that Kobal would do any and everything to protect River, there was a good chance there would be heavy loses taken by both sides. The story has so much more than I expected. There were so many secrets and truths that came out that were absolutely mind blowing!! I loved how it seemed like you knew where the storyline was going and it looked like you could predict what would happen and then Brenda knocked us on our asses and said, Ha!! This is one of the best PNR series I’ve ever read!
If you want crazy hot chemistry between two people who share an unexplainable undeniable connection, with non stop edge of your seat action then READ THIS SERIES!!! I’m so excited to see this series continue with some of the characters that helped Kobal and River on their journey in the Hell on Earth series! Usually I’m never left feeling satisfied or content with the ending of books especially the ending of series, but Brenda does an amazing job of concluding Kobal and River’s story. After everything they went through they deserved nothing less than having their HEA where they can finally have peace and explore their love together, and that is exactly we we got.
I'm so happy that this book finally made it to audio. I'd listened to the previous three books in 2019 and hadn't gotten to read this book. Great ending to the series. Narration was spot on...though it would have been great to have a male narrator to do the male POV.
This. This book tore me up in places. It was absolutely gut wrenching at times. Full of action and suspense, the last in this particular series will not disappoint! And to be honest, it seems like every hope and possibility that Kobal and River get comes with some terrible consequence or revelation. And there are some serious revelations in this. Be prepared for loss, shock, and amazement!
It was a great conclusion to the series. I think I ruined it for myself by reading all 4 books in a row. I just got tired and last 50% of this book I wanted to just quit. Not because it was bad but because I exhausted myself by binged them all in a row.
This series had it all I love in paranormal book:
Dystopian vibes Age gap Extremely j/p H Strong h Awesome fighting scenes Good plot and storyline Good smex scenes Epic love story Fated mates
What’s not to love? I think my biggest complain is this should have been maximum a trilogy.
All that aside, I really loved the writing style of this author and will be starting soon her other series.
This is the last book in this series and I was expecting so much more. This particular book bored me tremendously. It seemed as though the author babbled her way through. Giving repetitive parts of overviews from the previous books. It was unnecessary and just took up time and space.
I expected this to end on an amazing note because book 1 was so good. Yet it seemed that each book after just was on a drastic decline. This really ruined the series for me.
Knowing who he is now, I'm not ashamed to say that every woman should have a Kobal by their side, and every Kobal needs a River. They are both such strong characters. A true example of yin and yang. No other words needed. I loved the ending of this series and look forward to the beginning of the spin-off.
This was such a good series. However, it should have been kept to 3 books, especially since the books are 400 pages. While I read this I just wanted to get to the end to see how it was wrapped up. After awhile the fight scenes become the same.
If you haven't read the other books in this series, STOP, go back and read them. This is a continuing journey.
In the last book, Kobal and River found the reason for the breaking seals. It was her actual father in conjunction with the wraiths breaking them for Lucifer. Her father is now no more, the wraith he had become absorbed into the Fires of Creation.
As this book opens, River, Kobal, Hawk, Corson, Magnus, Bale, several Skelliens and some Hellhounds are making their way to meet up with the other demons who would be fighting with them here in Hell. They reach The River Asharún and Kobal informs them they wouldn't be traveling on it even though it's the quickest way to his chambers and the entrance to the meeting place. River won't hear of it, and insists she can handle being that close to the wraiths for the short time it would take them to reach their destination.
Against his better judgement Kobal gives in and Corson summons the boats. Unfortunately, they are attacked and then they continue on by going through the Oracle. Once there, River is hoping to see her brothers, instead she gets Angela, the angel who appears to be trying to tell her something. It's as they are arguing about whether Angela is good or bad, angel or something else when someone else makes himself known. While in his raven form Caim tells them that Angela isn't an angel and also that the angels are indeed trying to communicate with River. He isn't there because of Lucifer and wants to speak with Kobal.
Whether Caim has been truthful about being on their side remains to be seen, but first things first. They spend the night recharging in Kobal's chambers, then meet up with the others. In spite of all their preparation, Lucifer does manage to get ahold of River. In the process of getting her back we learn a lot more about River and her powers.
This book once again had me enthralled and not wanting to put it down until I was finished. So much happens, with action on almost every page. Plenty of hold your breath moments, some that made me giggle, some that made me cry and let's not forget those sizzling scenes with Kobal and River.
I am looking forward to reading the spin-off of this series Hell on Earth.
Into Hell is the epic conclusion to River and Kobal’s story. It was absolutely stunning. And, no words can describe how amazing this book is.
River and Kobal continue to be an amazing couple. They have sizzling chemistry, are super good at fighting, and are each others equals. Yet, they are not completely dependent on each other. River really shined in this book. Some of her fighting moves and her bravery in this book is truly admirable. River faces blow after blow in this book. Her preservence is what truly made her one of the best characters in the book. Kobal was also an amazing male-lead. I loved how he truly became a benevelont man who was commanding, yet kind. In this book, I could truly see why River loved Kobal so much.
The romance was beautifully blended with the action in the book. I loved how actions spoke so much more than words. The trials and heartbreak Kobal and River go through the book is heart breaking. Yet, they love each other. And, there is still so much chemistry. The steaminess in the novel was super awesome. I loved how they were super hot, but added so much to the plot.
The action in the novel was spell binding. There is so much realism in the novel, which I really liked. The fight scenes were dirty and detailed, because they needed to be. I loved learning about the vulnerabilities of each PN being. And, the final climax was superb. It fully met my expectations. It was an epic fight between Lucificer himself and none other than River and their friends. There was heartbreak, anticipation, and constant cheering for Kobal and the gang.
All in all, this is one amazing series. I definetly recommend that you pick up your copy today. It is one of my all time favorite PNR series. There is action, alpha heroes, tons of angels and mythology, and of your great romance.
Into Hell is the fourth and final book in the Road to Hell series, ideally the series should be read in order. This book does contain triggering content such as death, violence and briefly mentions parental abuse.
Into Hell is still one of my favourite books since I first read it in 2017, so when the audiobook came out I just had to get it. It’s such an amazing book I’ve listened and read the book multiple times (like many, many times …) and will still continue to listen to it in the future.
River and Kobal are also one of my favourite couples! River is strong, selfless, caring and incredibly powerful.
Speaking of power, Kobal definitely has it in spades, incredibly hot, fierce, protective and the way he loves River is so incredibly swoony.
So many shocking surprises, heart-stopping action, incredible love - not just between Kobal and River but also with other characters, humour, heartbreak, and so much more!
Sonja Field’s capability of adapting her voice for each character was awe-inspiring; I could hear every emotion, every single tiny detail displayed beautifully. I throughly enjoyed and anticipated waiting to hear how she would interpret the different characters. I can honestly say not one of them sounded the same; it definitely wasn’t obvious that they were read by the same person. The only imitation I didn’t like was Gage and Bailey’s - it just didn’t sound natural and was too high pitched for me.
Brenda K Davies’ insanely unique world building and intricately woven plot is unlike anything else I have ever read, making it even more addictive. You definitely don’t want to miss this one.
Plot: 📚📚📚📚📚 Character rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ World building: 🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎 Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Feels: 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 Narration by Sonja Field: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
First let me say this was a riveting and well-deserved conclusion to this paranormal fantasy romance. Kobal & River will forever hold a special place in my heart. Their story is one of my favorites. Brenda K Davies deserves far more credit than what she gets. She is a fantastic storyteller and world-building extraordinaire.
That being said, I do have one bone to pick with how she chose to end the story. (Well, two bones, if we're being technical here.)
1. She introduced two new POVs in this fourth and final book alone. Previously it has only been dual POV between River & Kobal. I'm not sure that throwing Corson and Shax's POVs here in the last book was a smart moving. It screamed inconsistency.
2. Too much extra info and not enough action. Perhaps she tried to weave one extra plot line in this final book by revealing Michael's lineage and River's unique abilities, but the attempt just made things appear muddled instead of providing additional clarity as intended.
I love that Kobal & River finally have their HEA. I love that she is reunited with her brothers. I love that the author chose to maintain River's kindness, even towards her abusive mother and animalistic Puca demons, all the way through the end of the series. Her consistent character and plot development are in line with those of Jennifer L Armentrout and Sarah J Mass, with a little bit of Amber V Nicole thrown in for the world-building and complexity of power.
This series has been quite a whirlwind of a ride from beginning to end. You never could guess what strange plot twists or lower level demons the author was going to create next. Do I think it could've been wrapped up in three books instead of four? Probably. However, I'll never trade a spicy scene between River and Kobal, especially if it's a lot of rescue s*x. 😉
I finished this series a couple of days ago, and I'm still not sure how to word this review. The first book was a free download on Amazon, so I grabbed it without really reading any reviews. Just a heads up if you haven't already read any of them, or any reviews - there is a lot of sex in this series. Like, so, so much sex.
I have to say that I absolutely LOVED the first three books, and was torn between a 4 and 5 star for them. The author did an amazing job describing all of the characters - I felt like I could really see all of the demons. I thought the twist on perceptions of Heaven/Hell and angels/demons was brilliant, and she set up the worlds on Earth and Hell perfectly.
Warning - SPOILERS AHEAD
I had such high hopes for this final book, and unlike most that reviewed it, I feel like I was completely let down. The author still did a great job with everything above, but I just feel like something was missing. I absolutely hated the ending. It was wrapped up too quickly, and too neatly. After everything, Satan was awfully easy to kill. And the mom was an angel? Give me a break. Why didn't any of the humans question have an issue with a demon being king OF THE ENTIRE WORLD?! And how does that even happen/work? And where was the uproar when the humans found out about the demons in the first place? And if River and Kobal are king and queen of the entire world, why are they living in a shitty house at the wall? I know they said they built a hall, but seriously. I'm glad they got pregnant and everyone was happy, but I feel that so much was skipped over to end the book.
The Culminating Book For The King and Queen of Hell
If you haven't read the first three books in this series, stop, download them first and walk The Road to Hell in the captivating and spell binding web only Brenda Davis can spin. Into Hell is the fourth and final book in The Road to Hell series and it blew my mind. Every question left dangling from previous books is answered and questions I didn't even know I had were answered too. River finally discovers who she is, and along the road discovers so many of the things she's know are not what they appear. Kobal's love for River only grows stronger as Angels, dragons, unicorns, and leprechauns join the demons to defeat Lucifer and help the King and Queen of Hell regain their rightful thrones. Every corner of my imagination was stretched, I cried before Raphael appeared, I laughed out loud at parts "nuttier than a squirrel's shit" and I couldn't have been more satisfied with the happily ever after ending. I was only sad to see this phenomenal series end. The good news is Brenda Davis is writing a spin off series with each book exploring a character from The Road to Hell. Hell On Earth can't come soon enough! I eagerly await Cordon and Wren's story!
This book was good as it showed the different creatures like in the previous books but I didn’t like the last two chapters of this book.
This book was like the other books in this series – they keep going somewhere, encountering different creatures and trying to kill Lucifer. In some places I was sort of bored and just wanted something new to happen.
Since most of this book takes place in hell, the humans weren’t there. The demon side characters were all in the background and while sometimes you could see bits of their personalities, most of the time they were just shadows in the background.
The last two chapters of this book disappointed me. The first one is 3 weeks after the previous chapter, then the next one was a year later. Both of them did a lot of telling and no showing. I thought that this would happen but I still hoped that the brothers would be shown. I wanted to see them interacting with River, how they would get to know Kobal and how Kobal would interact with them.
This series was interesting but none of the side characters were developed and after a while it got a bit boring with how they kept doing similar things and getting nowhere.
