This is the continuation of Ryker and Austin's story. I would not suggest reading this until you have read book 6, Ray of New. You do not need to start at book 1, if you don't want to. Book 6 and 7 focus on Ryker and Austin.

Just a small recap of book 6: Ryker moves back to New York after being heartbroken from losing Rae. He meets up with old friends and meets one of his friends sister, Austin. Austin is still heartbroken over her ex, so these two agree to a no strings affair. Just when Ryker realizes he wants more with Austin, he sees her kissing her ex.

Ray of Life begins right where it left off in Ray of New. Ryker played off his hurt by telling Austin he wants to end their no strings and start seeing other people, which he did the night he saw her kiss her ex. Both Ryker and Austin are still hung up on their exes but also feel something deeper for each other. They are confused and pretty much fumble their way towards realizing their true feelings.

This may not be a safe for some readers. These two are still learning how they feel and are with other women/men during their friendship/dating. I would consider this a high angst relationship story.

"Ray of Life" by E. L. Todd

My Thoughts...

This was a beautifully well brought out series number 7 that featured not only family, friends, lost but in the end a true love finally coming together as it was for Ryker and Austen. All that is left to say is that Ryker really had some true friends in what that did for him at the end. Finally Ryker and Austen gets their HEA!

I was given an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion. I loved how Rae got involved in Ryker's love life. I'm madly in love with this whole series that I'm going to reread from the beginning. This is a MUST READ and DEFINITELY A ONE-CLICK SERIES. El Todd you are absolutely AMAZING.

A great series on family, friends, love, loss and always banding together. From the first book to the last I fell in love with these characters and their journeys.

This a review for the entire series. all 7 books.

The series is supposed to be a romantic comedy but I can’t say that’s the case for all the books, not all of them I found to have a comedy anywhere near it, book one for example. So why did I continue to read the series well honestly because I was on the ARC (advance readers copy) list. I read other books by E.L todd and I can tell you one thing she seem to follow the same format for her characters, they are youthful early 20’s and somehow live very soap opera lives.

Rea , oh Rea….she does what every girl should never do she falls not only the bad boy but her brothers best friend as well in one series. Like I said book 1-5 or Light – Heart focus on the relationship between Rea, Ryker and Zeke. While the characters were easy sometimes I found myself questioning their intelligence. While the books were good and I kept reading, You could easily tell what was going to happen before it happened. So the twists through that series really in fact were not really a twist but still written well enough that I still read on. But by the time you reach book 4 it goes from being on a good streak down to plop. Book 4 was just completely mind-boggling and not in a good way at all. The relationship that formed with Rea and Ryker was hot and steamy. But then Zeke happens and it fell flat for me. It just wasn’t there, you know what mean. That sparks. I didn’t feel it. I didn’t even feel it towards the end. I was so team Ryker and E.L. Todd was so set on Zeke and Rea.

There is a lot of back and fourths in these books, like all of them you’ll find it happening at least once in every book. Throughout the book you don’t find your usual run of the mill problems for young adult. Rea is scientist, Rex ( her brother also the comedic aire in the book) won the lotto and bought a crappy bowling alley, Ryker (guy number) was left his father’s company and is now Rea’s boss and Rex’s friend, Zeke (guy number 2) is a freaking doctor and Rex’s best friend, Kayden and Jessie are the best friends of Rea. TBH, I used Kindle to read this series as a test; it was worse than I imagined.

Considering this was written and published in early 2017, the writer might've still lacked experience, confidence, and in the process as of still gaining all the skills and techniques of writing complicated romantic entanglements. While I didn't immediately set these books aside despite feeling really discomfitted by Ryker and Rae's musical lovers game, I kept reading to see whether any exciting or imaginative plot strands would be revealed.

Instead, the writer kept to the cheating boyfriend, to the female cheating on revenge, and back and forth, with Ryker having an epiphany of sorts after he has completely blown any chance at a future relationship between himself and Rae. However, I can't assign all the blame on her character, since EVERYONE was messing around with the same cheating jerks and s***s, and it all got to be way too much. Suffice it to say that Rae and Zeke decide to overlook and forgive (?!?!?!) so, yeah. I lost my commitment by book three,a but as I only borrowed the books, I force myself to get my teeth, put aside my opinions, and finish skimming. Reading in the actual sense of the word wasn't possible since the writing was so dry and often confusing (the editing and proofreading fell short of being successful). I had to skim, then finally skip the rather egregious errors like the wrong names, eye color changes, and so forth, otherwise I'd be rewriting the majority of the books by notifying republished of errors. Yeah, no way was I that invested.

All in all, I was quite disappointed in the fact I used up five hours to go through this disastrous series. The prevalent theme seemed to be cheaters have a good chance at being forgiven , and cheating is a part of a relationship since no one seems to hold onto or even believe in commitment to the one person you want to always be with. I found this series most depressing overall, I greatly disliked Rae, Ryker (though he was more likeable than Rae), Nathan and the floozies with whom the guys had such an easy time cheating with. I believe women outnumber the male population nearly three to one, or some idea close to that. I did like Zeke, even though he was unfaithful; in his defense, Rae shouldn't have allowed Ryker to convince her to meet - she was such an idiot. Most of all, the lack of transitions between scenes, sentence s even, were awkward. So much editing and proofing were needed, along with adding variations to the storyline. Using the same characters and featuring them for old quickly, as did their sex scenes that became painfully repetitive.

This was definitely worse than the messing around with the doctor who was the brother to the FMC's fiance, who dumps her then runs away to a Doctors Without Borders assignment for a year or more, Worse, when the doc returns, she can't resist him, and on and on, (the fiance turns out to be gay, and he gets caught cheating on HER with another guy), until she ends up preggo with doc's baby, but he runs AGAIN, only she hasn't a clue where he went. So. Ridiculous.

Another series was about the astronaut and FMC whose husband divorces her because she can't give him babies. She meets the astronaut, they begin an affair, he leaves twice for space, the second time gets lost in space or something, and since she gives it up to him between his missions without BC since she doesn't believe she's fertile, of course she ends up preggo. But he's gone for many years, so she gets together with another guy to have help with the baby and not be alone, and the astronaut returns. S*** hits all kinds of fans, he's shocked to learn she could even make babies, and the drama that ensues all could have been avoided if she had just waited for him Instead of believing she needed a man around all the time. That one, I greatly despised the female lead who was an idiot, and weak.I

Sadly, this writer isn't giving me any reason to want to buy her books. Either the men always cheat or run away somewhere for a self sacrificing cause. One point five stars. There were a couple of guys who weren't awful (Zeke and Ryker).

Throughout the first six books, i really started to like Ryker. There’s a quality about him that makes you want to root for him as he’s finally grown up, realized that he wants something more out of life and actually uses his mistakes as a way to be a better person.

Watching Rae fall in love with Zeke and choose him, that’s too much for him and he returns to New York – to the life that he had there before his father called him back to run the company. The change of scenery is necessary – it’s vital for his survival and we get to watch how that plays out.

In this seventh and final installment of the series (i think), we get to see Ryker nurse his broken heart – know that he’s only going to have so much of himself to give someone, but surprise himself at the same time when there’s someone that brings him back to life.

Enter Austen – the sister of one of his best friends – and this is a road that Ryker’s gone down before and he knows that the pain of losing his friendship with Rex was enough, he doesn’t want to have the same thing happen here. Austen though is like no one that he’s ever met before. She’s clearly had her heart broken as well and she has so many walls up that it seems as though they could be a match. their emotions are closed off with no chance of being something more, until that chance happens.

We get to watch how their flirtation turns into something more, and then evolves into a friendship and a relationship that they both can’t live without. We have nothing but the most positive visions here, and then all of a sudden, the man that broke Austen’s heart comes back and wants another try. A real shot to be what he was to her before he betrayed her.

This is where the roller coaster takes us, watching Austen be torn between the past and the present. Watching Ryker realize that he’s losing something that matters MORE than Rae did (shocker) and getting to see all of our favs from the past books come to Ryker’s aid as good friends typically do.

This is a whirlwind of emotions in this seventh book, yet i think that it gives us the closure to the story that we’ve all been craving.

Ray of Life is Book #7 in the Ray Series. You should read Ray of New Book #6 first, Ray of Life picks up where Ray of New Book leaves off. This is the final book in the series and the continuation of Ryker and Austen's story. You do not have to read Books #1 - #5, but I would recommend reading about the rest of the gang!

Ryker and Austen have come to an impasse in their relationship. They're both still hung up in their ex's and think they can't fully give each other what they need. It was sad to see them struggle because even though they did, it was still clear to both of them how well they clicked. They loved spending time together and not only were the sexy times HOT, they had an amazing friendship and talked about everything under the sun. Their time together was lighthearted, fun and easygoing no matter how they were spending their time together.

I really appreciated and respected how honest they were with one another. I don't think it's that easy to be so forthcoming in relationships, but I believe that was a big reason they clicked so well. Even though Ryker and Austen broke my heart at times, I enjoyed their struggle to find their HEA. I liked how Ryker opened up to his friends and asked for their help on how to handle things with Austen. This entire series was great. It gave me all the feels and kept me on my toes. I loved the development of all the characters and it was fun to see them in every book. I'll be checking out more words by E.L. Todd!

In what looks to be the final book of the Ray series, we have Ryker and Austin trying to decide if they can move past their exes and be with each other wholly and completely.

There are times when the story goes around in circles and is just spinning on its wheels and is just spinning on its wheels to get to the end point (which is the HEA). Like when Zeke was trying to win Rae back two books back, there are things that are repeated and it gets annoying. Like the sole purpose that Austin won’t give Ryker a chance is because of Rae but it’s not really based on anything. She completely ignores people’s pleas to make her sees his actions and for me I’m just like ‘omg are you that thick?’

Of course the best part of the story is the steamy romance part. The scenes between Ryker and Austin are even hotter in this book then they were in the last book because it has that pent-up passion that gets released. For example that scene when they have ‘sex’ without actually doing it, is probably one of the hottest scenes in the whole series.

The series is a fun and quick read. The banter between the friends is my favorite part in the whole series. For me, I tend to always like the secondary characters in books and that is no different in this series. Rex and Kayden were my favorite couple in the story because they were so adorable and funny that I enjoyed reading their back and forth.

WOW! What an ending to a GREAT series!

In this last book (I think) to the series Ryker and Austen realize that their relationship is more than just about the hooking up, but they still have it in their minds that they are not over their previous relationship ... Austen with Nathan and Ryker with Rae. But after a trip to Seattle when Ryker sees Rae again, he realizes that Rae will never leave Zeke, so he must go on with his life and he challenges Austen to do the same. Ryker proposes that Austen date him and Nathan for a month (with no sex) and then decide who she wants to be with.

I love how all the characters from the previous books are brought back into the this book to try and help Ryker win Austen over. Especially Rex ... I just couldn't stop laughing AT him - no I mean WITH him. The banter between the characters is just so realistic especially with the guys ... I've actually heard guys say those things. This book made me laugh, cry and everything in between. I plan on reading the whole series again ... and I never do that. This is my all time favorite series ... and believe me I have read a lot of books! I highly recommend not just this book, but the entire series ... you won't be disappointed!

I graciously received an ARC copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

"Ray of Life" is a seventh book in Ray series by E.L. Todd.

After moving back to New York, Ryder met Austen. They quickly became friends and started to have feelings for each other. But both of them are hung up on their exes and are sure that they can't build a functional relationship together.

Another great book in Ray series! I enjoyed it immensely and couldn't put it down until I found out what'll happen with Ryker and Austen. I loved both of them and wanted them to have their HEA. Also, it was great to see the whole gang from previous books - especially because they wanted Ryker to get his girl and there wasn't too much drama between them. Parts with Rex and Rae were super fun to read!
Seriously, this series is one of my favorites and those amazing characters will stay with me for a long time.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...

I absolutely loved and hated this book; I loved it because poor Ryker needed some luck in love and hated it because we have to say goodbye to these crazy people. In the end of Ray of New, Ryker and Austen made some very bad decisions and it led to some unfortunate consequences for our couple. However, Ryker refuses to lose the girl this time and gives Austen an opportunity to pick between him and Nathan.

I was really concerned on how Ryker was going to prove himself to Austen after what he did, but the man never gave up. Austen had a tough decision to make and I think she handle the situation as best as possible. I don't want to give away too much, but Ryker's friends did come to his rescue.

I loved the references to a Muffin Girl! Also I wonder if we will see what happens between Liam and Madeline?

I loved the friendship Ryker finally got back with Rae, Zeke and Rex. I loved when he ended up out there for a week. It is nice to see the old characters back.

Austen is sweet and I can understand how she wanted to be sure between Ryker and Nathan BUT I felt it drug on and then at the end when she made her decision it was like she knew from the beginning.

Austen has a great group of friends and I love her family. Of course we knew her brother Liam as he is friends with Ryker.

While I loved both Austen and Ryker, there was just something missing in this story. But like I already said, the Nathan, Ryker, Austen stuff really drug on and I didn't care AT ALL about Nathan so seeing Austen with him was rather boring. Any scene with them or with their friends though and I was in heaven. Overall though I did enjoy the book and it was a great end to the series!

Love through the eyes of the untamed bad boy. We have come full circle with this book and I love how everything came together for the series. I wasn't sure how the end would turn out but it was done beautifully. The characters are all linked in one way or another and I love that in the story. It allows you too see multiple sides to the story. I enjoy E.L.'s writing immensely. She has this amazing talent to make you both hate her and love her at the same time. Only someone who has read all of her books would understand that. Although I am sad to see Rykers's journey come to an end I am so glad he got his piece of happiness. I can't wait to see what comes next from E.L. I am sure it will be amazing.

*I was gifted this ARC from the author and are freely giving my review of it*

The last book in this series is good and it contains a little twist to the story that I especially liked.

Ryker has grown so much since he started out dating Rae and I just like him more and more.

The storyline is good and the characters are well written with a lot of feelings. It's no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and lots of dialogues so it's a joyful read.

What I also like is how the secondary characters gets a part in the story too, it's good to get to know how their lives are.

The writing style is easygoing and makes this a quick story to read.

I recommend reading the other books in this series before starting this one.

Well done, 5 stars from me.

Ryker doesn't seem to be able to maintain a relationship even though his heart is in it. He never seemed like the relationship type until he fell for Ray and that tore his heart out until Austen slowly healed it. He didn't even realize he was over Ray until he was losing Austen because he was still hung up on Ray. He soon discovers love is tough, you have to work at it. He was in it to win it. And for a man like Ryker that's saying something. What helps put Austen over the top is actually meeting Rae and Rykers friends. They remind her how great he is and that she will regret if she lost him. After all the heartbreak, it's good to see Ryker happy at last.

Friends to lovers, a great second chance

Beautiful Series!

I loved this series! Happy to see Rae & Zeke get their happily ever after and now Ryker & Austen. A little unconventional how it happened. I'm not sure how happy I woulf be for a guy to date me and another girl just to get over his confusion. I was either enough for him or he can say "Austa La Vista!" I will give it to Ryker though. He had a crazy amount of patience for this girl and her situation. I am really glad that the author took the time to give the readers Rykers story with a great happy ending that included the entire gang. The only afterthought is that I would like to see the outcome of Austens friends. What about Liam & Madeline? What about Jared? That was a complication as well. Anyhow, great series!

I have loved watching Ryker grow in the Ray series, I am not going to lie, I was literally crying both mad and tears of joy after the first few books, and was soo happy when the series continued with Ryker.
Sparks fly between Austin and Ryker, but can two broken hearts help mend each other. Can they really walk away from a chance at finding happiness with each other because they are hanging on to a past that doesn't exist, both to afraid to see whats been in front if their eyes all along, and when Ryker finally steps up will it be enough or has he waited to long again...
I am always a huge fan of EL Todd, and Ray of Life was no exception, you will not be dissappointed in this series.

Okay so it has to be said that Ryker has gotten so different since the start of this series. He's like grown up per say in regards to his personality. He takes life's lessons and for once actually learns. It's like he's making himself even more irresistible! Austen better look out because he's not playing around when it comes to her heart anymore. Even though Nathan is still in the running for her love, everyone knows that Ryker will dominate! What you don't expect is to see more of Rae and the gang! You get another dose of the quirky but loveable gang that makes you see that people can be forgiven!

I love E. L. Todd. I had to say that disclaimer. Being honest, this book was like reading a day and life of "my first high school crush" type of story. You know the type, when your friend got to convince you that someone likes you. smh. It was hard to tell that these were adults. The book was slow. They had the same conversations in different ways during each chapter. I must say that the ending made up for a lot of the book, but it still wasn't the best in the series. I'm glad Austen and Ryker finally made decisions about their lives. It was cute, but not what I'm used to from E.L. Todd.

Ryker & Austen both want each other but both still have feelings for their exes. Ryker realizes he can't give up on Austen and will do anything to win her over. Ryker has a month to change her mind and hoping that he can prove that she should pick him. Love seeing the gang and the crazy things that come out of Rex's mouth. What Rae does is priceless and she will do anything to have Ryker find his HEA.

I absolutely loved this book. The conclusion to a love story that had so many ups and downs, so many emotions rolled into it. You will laugh and you will cry and feel everything the writer wants you to feel. This storyline is so emotionally packed you will like you are in the centre of this story and everyone in it is your best friend. I had tears at the end while I finished the book. It was a lovely way to end it.

This is part 2 of Ryker's story. You have to read the other books,to get his history with Austen & the rest of the group. I feel in this book Ryker is much more love able than before. He finally feels what he made Rae feel. How bad she hurt when he broke up with her.
Now here he is given a second chance at love. And he has to fight harder than anything else he's ever done in his life. But will Austen move past her ex Nathan & give Ryker another chance...

Ray Of Life is book 7 in the Ray Series. This is one of my all time favorite series. These characters are so real and lovable. I loved that all the characters were in this final book. Ryker of course has been my choice since book 1. My heart broke many times for him throughout this series. I can't think of a more perfect ending. I'm sad this is the end of the Ray gang. But I am excited to read about the next group of fantastic characters that pop out of E. L. Todd's amazing mind!

I enjoyed this book but got a a little fed up with Austen's antics. She is a strong woman and she should have should have been able to make a decision on whom she wanted to be with. I absolutely love how the Seattle gang, Rae, Zeke, Kayden, Tobias, Jenn and Rex were part of this book. It tied everything together. It was a perfect ending of love, friendship and family. I hope Liam and Maddie get a book, I would love to see how their relationship turns out.

I am so glad that Ryker finally gets closure. After pining so long for Rae can he open his heart and truly pursue Austen or is he destined to be alone. When a trip home to Seattle and interactions with the gang make Ryker rethink his happiness, he goes back to NYC with a plan to pursue Austen. Will he victorious in winning Austen over her ex Nathan? You will have to read to find out.

I love this series and hate to see it end! Romance, steam, humor, and the greatest cast of characters made this book and each book in the series a fantastic read. I love Ryker even though he wasn't such a stand-up guy in earlier books and was so glad he got his HEA with Austen. I loved these two together and absolutely loved the ending!

The ending to Ryker's story couldn't be more perfect!
I was so happy that Rae went to bat for him, that is so like her to want to fix everything, and it worked in his favor. Thankfully Austen chose the right man, and it makes me happy to know that Ryker got his happily ever after.
He really had changed for the better, and they are perfect for each other.

So pleased that we finally got Ryker's story. Every bit as good as the rest of the series. A bit of a rollercoaster ride for the emotions. Loved all of the characters and was pleased that Rae and the gang were still involved in the story despite Ryker having moved away. Would wholeheartedly recommend this series.

The previous books really kept my interests, but the reading was all off the last 2-3 books. Ending was quick like you were just wanting to end the story. Not exciting at all.

Sorry, wrote comments above - messed up - but this book ended terrible. I was have expecting Rae and Ryker getting back together.
