Harvest of Hope #1

Seeds of Hope

Rate this book
They live in completely different worlds. Can love bring them together?

Miriam Troyer has had a secret crush on Mark Byler since they were teenagers. She knows they can never have a relationship: Mark is a big-city attorney—an Englischer—and Miriam loves her quiet way of life in her Amish community. But when Mark unexpectedly shows up in Paradise, Pennsylvania, Miriam realizes it’s going to get a lot harder to hide her feelings.

Even though Mark always loved visiting his grandfather’s farm as a boy, he’s convinced the Amish life is not for him. But when he suddenly finds himself out of a job and without direction, Mark heads back to the farm just in time to help with the harvest. Coming for a visit and coming to stay, however, are two very different things.

Everything changes when Mark sees that Miriam, the girl he remembers from his youth, has grown into the kind of faith-filled woman he wants in his future. Could life in this simple world be right for Mark after all? Has Miriam finally found her happily ever after? True love sprouts from seeds of hope.

I appreciate when authors are able to bring two people together from different backgrounds and make their love story seem plausible. That is what the author did in Seeds of Hope. She created a scenario that placed Mark in a situation that he never envisioned for himself. It was more realistic than a typical fish out of water story, since Mark did grow up visiting his Amish grandfather and spent a good bit of time learning how the Amish lived when he was a teenager. I liked the fact that even though he was very comfortable in the city, Mark seemed to flow right back into the Amish community.

Seeds of Hope, the first book in this new series, established an interested setting full of people. I look forward to returning to this warm community in future stories. Miriam was such a lovely and caring character. She was a helpful and loving daughter and sister, a good teacher, a sweet friend, and had a heart to care for others, such as Mark’s elderly grandfather, John. Her sweet personality shined through on the pages and it was easy to connect with her. Both main characters were very relatable and liking them was easy for me. The ending felt a bit rushed as everything wrapped up, however, it left me looking forward to when the next book in the series will release!

Growing up and moving on, a young Amish woman’s faith is put to the test in this book set in Paradise Pennsylvania. Miriam has grown up hoping to achieve her ultimate dream of being a wife and mother, but she set her sights on Mark Byler, the name suggests Amish, but his father left the faith, and he is now a defense attorney.

The author has his job in a quandary, and he heads home to his grandfather’s farm to figure out what to do next. We watch as he assimilates back into the community, having spent summers here, but we also see him enjoying his air conditioning and BMW. While sparks seem to fly between Mark and Miriam, there are many reminders of what cannot be.

Can Mark forsake the thrill of working as a lawyer, and give up the many luxuries he has become used to, or will Miriam leave the only life she has ever know, the job she loves as a teacher, and most of all her beloved family. We are given insights into all of these, but you will be quickly turning the pages to find out the answers to these questions, and hoping for the best for these likeable characters.

It's been sometime since I read a Barbara Cameron novel and I was glad to get the chance to read this book. Ms. Cameron's writing style was a refreshing change in pace for me, and I was swept away in by Miriam and Mark and the Amish world.

Miriam and Mark are from two different worlds, but their friendship, and the sparks that fly between them, is powerful. The bustle of watching Mark come to terms with his feelings for not just Miriam, but the Amish way of life was fun and captivating. I was cheering him on throughout the story, and loved watching God work on his heart within the book. Miriam's feelings and thoughts were heart gripping and I loved watching her with Mark.

If you want a book that is 4 star worthy and filled with simplicity and characters that become real, then this start to a refreshing new series by a truly talented novelist, then this is for you. You'll be swept away to a place where planting the seeds of hope can leave you renewed in spirit and in life. Well done, Ms. Carmeron!

Barbara Cameron is a consistent writer, always delivering on appealing characters, realistic conflict, an emotional tug at the heart, and spiritual gems to reflect upon. Miriam and Mark’s story in Seeds of Hope is a great beginning to the new Harvest of Hope series.

Relational tension is taken to a high level in this story of no way can this end happily romance. Mark – with his defense law practice, high society (and high maintenance) fiancé, and BMW – is entrenched in the English lifestyle. Miriam, who cares deeply for him, is committed to her faith and family. Amish fiction fans know that is extremely rare for someone to join the Amish faith, and even harder to remain there … but Mark is no stranger to the Amish. What makes this scenario plausible is that his father left the Amish faith, but allowed the adolescent Mark to spend his summers with his grandfather, who he dearly loved.

I loved how we see the contrast in both worlds, reflected in the romantic tension and also Mark’s faith that asked questions while seeking. Their struggles felt so very real, and the story made me even more aware of how, as Christians, we’re supposed to be in the world, but not of the world. John, Mark’s wise granddad, was a favorite of mine. He may have read the Gospel of John a lot because of sharing the same name, but that’s an excellent book to read over and over again.

There’s one spiritual nugget expressed close to the end that really jumped off the page and into my thoughts, and that’s Mark’s realization that he had been “so busy making a living that he hadn’t made a life.” Words of wisdom for all of us.

I thoroughly enjoyed Seeds of Hope and look forward to more stories to come. Recommended.

Typical Amis/Englisher romance. It is somewhat slow moving, but the characters are both interesting. Miriam Troyer is Amish and has had a crush on her neighbor's grandson who is a combination of Amish (dad left for the English world) and English. Mark Byler is a high powered Pennsylvania lawyer who has been put on sabbatical by his firm due to a client he successfully defended on a murder charge who has now been picked up on a possible second murder charge. Mark seeks asylum at his Amish grandfather's farm. Can Mark learn to love a more slow moving Amish life and will Miriam be a part of it?

I read so many Amish novels when they first became popular that now I only find a few that are truly well crafted. This one tends to be fairly formulaic. Likeable but not great.

John Loves Miriam and he loves his grandson Mark. Will John play matchmaker? Will his plan come to fruition? Grab a copy of this enchanting story and find out if John is a matchmaker.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I enjoyed the meshing of Plain life and English life. The two different ways of living are woven together in a delightful story. The characters are well developed and the story draws you in. I love Amish Fiction, and now am a huge fan of this author.

This is a sweet story that spans two worlds - the Amish and the Englisch. Mark is a unique Amish hero in that his grandfather is Amish but his father left the faith & Mark is a high-powered lawyer in the city. The faith conversations flowed naturally as Mark contrasts his high-pressure life with the hard work but simplicity of his grandfather's farm. While there wasn't a lot of chemistry between Mark and Miriam (as far as sparks) there is a very sweet and solid friendship between them that inevitably leads to more, introducing another type of contrasting tension: namely, what to do about Miriam's faith and Mark's lack thereof. It's an engaging story but also one I could put down & come back to later.

It's been said that a man and a woman can't be friends. Something always comes along and complicates things, usually one develops feelings for the other and the friendship is never the same. Miriam Troyer and Mark Byler seem to be the exception to the rule. After all she's Amish and a member of the church and Mark was born and raised English. Despite coming from different backgrounds they develop a friendship and seem to understand each other in ways no one understands, until one day Mark's world is turned upside down and nothing is as it seems to be.

Miriam Troyer is a kind and sweet-hearted girl. She teaches at the school and helps her parents with her younger siblings. She even helps take care of John Byler, Mark's grandfather, by cooking him meals and helping him with his garden. It's no wonder people can't figure out why she isn't married yet, maybe the right man just hasn't come along. Then again, maybe he has and she knows she has absolutely zero chance of being with him. Now, if she can just convince her heart of that she can find a nice Amish man to marry. Miriam didn't meant to fall for Mark, she isn't really sure when it happened, it just happened. He seems to get her in ways nobody else does and she loves their long talks when he comes to visit for the summer. She knows she needs to get over him and find someone Amish but that's easier said than done.

Mark Byler has everything a man could want. A beautiful fiance, a job as a high powered attorney, and a upscale condo. He loves his job at the firm and he's very successful at it. He works long hours and when he isn't working he's usually out with Tiffany, his fiance. Mark is celebrating a huge victory of getting his client off of a murder charge when he receives word his grandfather, John, wants him to come visit. Deciding he's earned some time off, he goes to check on his grandfather. Finding all is well, he can't wait to return to the job he loves. Mark is headed into work one day when he gets word the boss wants to see him. Due to some bad publicity Mark is put on a forced extended leave from work. With his world turned upside down, and nothing to keep him in the city, Mark decides to return to the farm to help his grandfather with the harvest. In doing so will he find all he ever wanted and more?

I absolutely loved Seeds of Hope and although it's my first book to read by Barbara Cameron it won't be the last! I loved how she made Miriam and Mark flawed yet so easy to relate to. We all know someone who gives of themselves, thinking of others and never really stopping to consider what their wants and needs are. Or perhaps you know a Mark, a good guy who works too much and tends to miss what's right in front of him. But I loved John best of all! He's a quiet guy who doesn't say much but when does it's definitely worth listening to. He loves Mark and Miriam both and wants what's best for them. He doesn't tell them what to do but offers quiet and sound advice. I love how he never pushed too hard. His desire was for Mark to come back to the Amish ways and run the family farm but he would never force that on him. He always welcomed Mark with open arms but understood and supported the fact that it had to be Mark's decision on what to do with his life.

Seeds of Hope is a beautiful story that I believe is a must read for book lovers everywhere. Even if Amish fiction isn't your usual genre of choice I hope you will give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have a childhood crush on a boy, ten years older than you. Yet you remain the very best of friends. For Miriam Troyer, she kept that secret buried deep inside even though the feelings she had for Mark Byler have never changed. She had hoped that time and distance might change all that, but since Mark had moved away to the big city to follow his dreams of becoming an attorney, those familiar feelings remained. Even though he was now engaged to a young woman, Tiffany who was just like the jewelry maker, high maintenance and wealthy beyond measure, just the right kind of wife for an up and coming successful lawyer.

When Mark receives a letter from his grandfather to come to Paradise, Pennsylvania, he worries that his grandfather might be ill. He has never written to him before asking for anything, and when he doesn't return Mark's calls, he fears the worst. Yet all that John Byler wanted was a chance to talk to Mark in hopes of convincing him that unless he accepted taking over his farm, it would be sold and given to someone other than a Byler to run. He had hoped to stir those feelings inside him long ago when he used to visit his grandfather on the farm during his summers away. But he could't just walk away from the life he had now, and there was no way that Tiffany would have anything to do with farming.

So when a high profile case of Mark's suddenly takes a turn for the worst, his law firm insists that he take some time off to let things die down in the public's eye. The only place left for him to go, is back to his grandfather's farm to help him work the harvesting season and payback all those who have helped his grandfather for all those years, and maybe that includes Miriam Troyer who has spent her days bringing meals to his grandfather so he wouldn't have to fend for himself. Now she just hopes that she can keep those long-time feelings tucked inside because as things stand now, there is no hope for her and Mark to have anything romantic happen between them. For now, she will just do her best to be the friend he needs.

I received Seeds of Hope by Barbara Cameron compliments of Litfuse Publicity and Gilead Publishing. This is such an incredible novel that conveys the need for loyalty and love of family. It goes beyond what others might want especially in the big city of Philadelphia, who seemed to distance themselves from the negative publicity even his finacè, Tiffany. It is a valuable lesson on what we define as important to us, and Mark soon realizes that money can't buy everything he once thought it could and that the love of close family and friends is indeed priceless. Discussion questions are included at the conclusion of this book that would make it the perfect choice for book clubs. I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and can't wait for the next novel in the Harvest of Hope series.

My what a charming little story. Seeds of Hope is one of my favorite books of 2017. This is the first in a series called Harvest of Hope, and I cannot wait to read more of this one! I usually am not a series person as my reading habits show, but I will be reading more about these characters.

The cover of this book is so beautiful and perfect for the storyline. It is one of my favorite covers of all time. It is just absolutely gorgeous. The cover matches the beautiful story inside, which I think is very rare right now in the publishing world. I also realize you cannot really judge a book by its cover.

This is an Amish story which is not everyone's cup of tea, but I have begun to love stories that are Amish. They have such good moral themes to them. Seeds of Hope has themes of grace, hope, and faith. I enjoy getting to see a glimpse into the culture, but I will give a disclaimer that I do not know if it is an accurate description of the Amish.

The story is super relatable; I remember being so in love. I really could connect with the main character Miriam. The romance is so well done. They aren't overly quick to get into a relationship, and that was something that I really enjoyed.

In this story, we follow the lovely Miriam who wasn't found the man that she wants to marry None of the men at the church she goes to really make her heart sing. She wants to fall in love, and have someone care about her. She was such a well-developed character. She has found someone that might fit the bill, but unfortunately, she is unable to be with this man.

Due to her being Amish she is unable to be with an English man. The man she is interested in is a successful lawyer. He rarely visits the area until a twist of life forces him to do so. This mystery man is named Mark Byler. Will they fall in love? Will love break the barriers of two vastly different cultures?

The character development in this story is so good.

This book reminds me although hardships and trails happen in everyone's life, in the end, they can turn into something good. Barbara Cameron leaves us with an ending that doesn't disappoint making Seeds of Hope a great read!

Ultimately the book reminded me that hardships happen in every single person's life. Most of the time, in the end, they can be something good. Seeds of Hope will make you feel so many emotions. The story will warm your heart. While this is a Christian title I do believe that this story can be enjoyed by people of all faiths and beliefs.

I love the cover of this book! I know you cannot judge a book by its cover, but the beauty of the outside matches the inside story as well. The word hope is the perfect word for this title, and its message is truly the theme running throughout the pages of this text. Hope and grace are reflected in the daily decisions of the Amish that live in this town, because they are in tune to the needs of others.

Miriam Troyer can be found helping her family, tending to her siblings, and even carrying a meal to a neighbor who is an elderly gentleman. Of course, it does not hurt that she has a crush on his grandson. Unfortunately, though, he is from the English world, and Miriam rarely sees him. Yet she grew up getting to know him all the while becoming more and more attached to him. Throughout their conversations as children, Mark Byler always held her interest. She never tired of his company, because he was so different from the other Amish boys, and now his grandfather needs his help. Miriam wonders what Mark will do, and she wishes she could listen in on the conversations between Mark and his grandfather—will Mark stay to help his family or will he leave and return to his life as an attorney?

Mark Byler has a pretty pleasant life. Money and winning cases make up his days as a lawyer in a prestigious firm. Nothing seems to be going wrong until he receives a short letter from his grandfather. There are not many details on the page inside the envelope but Mark worries he might be ill. After Mark takes the time to drive to his grandfather’s home, he is welcomed with grand news, which completely derails his world. How could he even consider what is being asked of him? His own life back in the city calls to him, yet unforeseen events shatter what he had originally planned, and then an old friend comes back into his life. Will he make a decision that will change his life forever, or will he follow the safe route?

This is an excellent story, and I recommend checking it out. I enjoyed the flow of the book and how the reader really gets to know each character. By the end of the novel, they seem more like friends than fictional characters, because the author details their lives in such a purposeful, realistic manner. If you have not read Amish fiction before, this book is a great place to start. Happy reading!

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to Litfuse for my copy.

I remember when I was younger and had this huge crush on a guy in our school. We lived in the same neighborhood and our families knew each other. He was such a nice guy and we became boyfriend and girlfriend. Through the years we continued to date but one day , he told me his family was moving across town. My heart was shattered. I knew our lives were going in different directions. I hoped that some day we would get back together, but it never happened. We lost touch and I sometimes wonder what happened to him.

This story reminds me so much of me when I was in love as a teen. Miriam was very easy to relate to. She has been in love with Mark since they were teens as well. Her hopes of a future with him faded when she knew that they couldn’t be together. Being with an Englisher is not allowed in her community. I loved how she still visited Mark’s granddad and took care of him. Her dedication to teaching was so evident by her compassion for the children she taught. It’s funny, I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up as well. The author has created a beautiful story of two people who grew apart but never forgot each other.

Mark is a very driven person and successful as an attorney. I liked how he gave everything he had to defend his clients. He still keeps in touch with his granddad who he cares deeply for. When he receives a letter to come home to his granddad’s farm, he takes off to see if everything is ok. It was so heartwarming to read how excited Mark’s grandfather was to have him home. As Mark stays at the farm, he slowly begins to feel a stirring inside. Has he missed bring Amish? Will he rekindle his relationship with Miriam?

The story warms your heart and gives hope to those who seek answers to their future. I loved how the characters trusted God and turned to Him when they needed help. The scriptures throughout the book are perfect for the story. A farmer plants seeds with hope that it will grow and produce. What seeds have been planted in your life?

In “Seeds of Hope”, Barbara Cameron story is one of conflicting life styles. Miriam Troyer is a young Amish woman who has had a crush on Mark Byler since they were children. Mark is English since his father left the Amish and brought him up in the English world. However, Mark is very attached to his Amish grandfather and spends quite a bit of time helping on the farm when on vacation. John Byler wants his grandson to take over the farm for him to keep it in the family. Miriam has looked after John for a number of years, seeing that he has food and that he is well.

When Mark finds himself out of a job because of some adverse publicity, he joins his grandfather at harvest time and helps with the harvest and daily chores. Miriam continues to bring food and to make sure that John and Mark are doing well. It is no secret that she has eyes only for Mark and has spurned many other Amish suitors because of her love for him. Mark, however, is deeply entrenched in the English world. He is a successful lawyer for a prestigious firm, engaged to a socialite, owns a great condo, and drives a BMW. While he is with his grandfather and living the Amish life, he has time to consider what God has intended for him. It would be a tremendous upheaval to leave the English world to become Amish.

Ms. Cameron does a wonderful job of comparing the two life styles during the course of the novel. Can Miriam’s devotion to Mark and his grandfather spur something in Mark that will make him take heed of what God has provided? “Seeds of Hope” is a very compelling novel.

Barbara Cameron's new series, "Harvest of Hope" , has started off with a delightful, sweet romance. Since I am a lover of Amish fiction, this new book was one that I just knew that I MUST read. I have enjoyed all of Barbara's tales and this one was no disappointment. This author has a great understanding of the Amish community and their beliefs and although she addresses challenges that are encountered, does so in a sensitive, respectful manner.

Miriam and Mark, the main characters, were described in such a realistic, detailed manner, that you immediately became part of their lives. For me, a great book is one that has me easily identify with the characters and this need was met in the very first chapter. Two very different worlds had to come together and blend in order for a romance to develop. As fans of this genre realise , it is extremely rare for a non Amish person to be able to join this particular faith. It is a totally different way of life!! The reaction of the members of the community also make this an almost impossible challenge. But..... can God bring together two young people, despite the roadblocks that appear in their path of life???

The plot moves slowly but steadily towards the goal . Faith in the power of God's will keeps the characters strong on their rocky road of life. Despite unexpected difficulties, they maintain their positive approach and keep their eyes on the Lord.

This is the perfect summer read!! Positive vibes within a sweet romance that is challenged every step of the way! Shows us so clearly how God plants the seed of hope and we can help them grow by following Him!!

MY THOUGHTS

I am a strong fan of Amish books. They have lessons to learn, are interesting, clean and wholesome. Two entirely different worlds. One of the Amish faith and one in the Englisch world. Is there any way that two people from two different worlds can come together? One thing may do just that, love. But can this happen with Mark and Miriam? Mark is from the Englisch world, an attorney and Miriam is from the Amish world. They both know each other but when Mark goes back to his grandfather's farm, Miriam and Mark connect again. But the Amish and Englischers are not meant to be together. IT's not in the cards. Two worlds so far apart. Busy big city and the quiet life of an Amish community. Mark is out of a job and goes back only for a short visit to help with the harvesting but will love take that short visit into staying for good? Can Mark leave behind the bright lights of the big city for the quiet, simple life that Miriam lives? There is always HOPE and the seeds are there. They just need to be tended to with loving care. Is there true love in the future of Miriam and Mark? My only fault with this book is that the pace is rather slow and it didn't flow as I had hoped. I'm hoping that there will be another book about Mark and Miriam and how their lives go forward.

Such great descriptions had me caught up in both the modern world and the old world of the Amish when the two worlds are brought together again in Seeds of Hope. You have the fast paced world of Mark where so many only care about how everything affects them and then Miriam's slower paced world of making sure everyone is loved and taken care of.

There were some great characters that come in and out in this book and that kept me turning the pages. Grandpa in the end though just shined through for me. Now don't get me wrong, I certainly felt sorry for the trails and hardships that Mark and Miriam were going through in their lives, but Grandpa stayed on top of my list. It was funny how I couldn't wait to get to a part where he was back in the story. I was always wanting to make sure someone gave him dinner and checked on him. His character was just lovable and people really listened to what he had to say. He knew just how to make people think about what was most important in their lives. He also seemed to have everyone a little wrapped around his fingers! Loved that.

This book reminds me although hardships and trails happen in every one's life, in the end they can turn into something good. Barbara Cameron leaves us with a ending that doesn't disappoint making Seeds of Hope a great read!

Miriam still hasn’t found the man she wants to marry. She’s part of the Amish church but none of the men have made her heart do strange things. Except of course for the man she can’t have because he’s English. Not just English but also a lawyer. A high profile guy that isn’t likely to visit often and even less likely to return her feelings. That is until life throws him a curve.

Mark Byler often visited his grandfather’s farm and enjoyed his experiences there. He also appreciated the friendship he made with a local Amish girl named Miriam. But the idea of staying there or giving up the rest of his life never occurred to him. Until he needed a place to escape to.

When a case goes wrong and his client is arrested again for the same type of crime his office gives him some “time off”. Not knowing what to do with himself and having received a message from his grandfather that he needed him he decided to spend his time down on the farm.

Can Mark figure out why his innocent client has again been arrested? Who is the guilty party? What is he going to do with his life? And just how sick could his grandfather be? Oh and then there is Miriam.

Great read. As most Amish fiction, this is a nice read. Not a fast read but a nice slow read that you are still drawn into and feel as if these characters are your friends.

In Seeds of Hope, you have two individuals from opposite worlds that are connected through their friends, family but who are too worried about what the outside world would think if they were to ever act upon their friendship and budding feelings.

Miriam is a sweet, kind hearted soul who dotes on her siblings and those in her community. She never asks for anything in return. She has tried to like the men in her Amish community but her heart has been stolen by Mark, who lives outside the Amish world. She begins to struggle with some of her teachings - how could love be wrong - and test the boundaries her Father has set for her.

Mark's Father left the Amish community but he still has ties with his Grandfather. His one friend and defender in the community has always been Miriam. When his life is thrown upside down and he is left confused and questioning everything he has ever believed or done he heads back to his roots for guidance and hope.

Seeds of Hope is a beautiful story of hope, faith and pushing past old beliefs. It is about following your heart and allowing God to speak to you freely with you listening to him. While our past will always be there to guide us, it does not have to determine our future as these two learned. We can build and create a new future based on hope and love. This is a well written, sweet novel that I truly enjoyed reading.

I really enjoyed this book. Mark, an Englisher, visits his grossdaadi every year. As time goes on, his visits become shorter and shorter as he concentrates on his law career. Mark ends up on a "sabbatical" and heads for his grossdaadi's farm, his second home. He spends the summer helping his grossdaadi and the community with harvesting. Mark has been friends with Miriam every since they met as children. They enjoy each other's company. Mark must make a decision whether to stay in Lancaster with his grossdaadi or go back to his law career in Philadelphia. I will leave my description here and go into my thoughts. I always worry I will give too much away or not say enough.

It is also important to place Gott first especially when faced with any decision, especially when it's a really tough one and remember Gott works in his own time, not our time. I also love the message that it is important so slow down and see what is truly important in life. So many messages in this book were so pertinent to me especially now. Thank you Barbara for reminding what is important in life.

I won this book from Barbara Cameron and my review was not affected by winning the book. It was totally affected by how great the story is.

Seeds of Hope is the first book in the Harvest of Hope series by Barbara Cameron. Miriam Troyer has a huge crush on Mark Byler and has since they were teenagers. Miriam knew that a relationship would never happen between the two of them, but Mark returned home and all of a sudden he noticed Miriam in a different way. When Mark was offered the farm by his grandfather, was it luck or fate that Miriam would get a possible second shot with Mark? Would Mark want to be apart of the Englisch world or the Amish world? Will Mark be able to make it in the Amish world if he chooses to or will his career and skills keep him from life on the farm? The only way to know is to grab a copy yourself and start reading!

This is a great read! I enjoyed the pace of the book and the story line. I found the storyline to be real and the characters to be authentic. I love how the characters each struggle with different aspects of life and faith. I found this book to be enjoyable and was well written. Amish fans will truly enjoy this wonderful story! I give this book 4/5 stars. A favorable review was not required.

I enjoyed this love story about a man and a woman from two separate worlds. I liked Mark and felt for him and the situation that led to his going back to his grandfather's farm. Miriam was also such a caring woman who put other's needs before her own. There's quite a bit of talk of faith, especially as Mark, Miriam and others try to figure out the right thing to do about some teenagers running a buggy off the road and causing injuries. The Amish don't get the police involved, but what about having consequences for your actions? They also discussed believing God's in control and that He has a plan. I liked the combination of the simple life with Mark's city life still intruding once in a while; it kept it interesting, especially as I wondered what was going to happen to his previous client and with his job. There was a little bit of romance. I always love the sense of community in Amish stories. There's a helpful glossary in the back of 'Amish words, discussion questions and a recipe. I would recommend this book if you like Amish stories.

Seeds of Hope is a sweet story of deep and lasting love - between family, between friends, and between neighbors.  I love the way that Cameron portrays the relationships between this Amish community in Paradise, Pennsylvania.

Just like in real life, there's a variety of relationships here, and I like the way that Cameron wove them together.  It made for a fun story, and bringing in these people serve not only as great examples of model behavior but also an avenue for introducing interesting subplots.

I can't say that Seeds of Hope is unpredictable; really, how many possible endings are there for a romance taking place in an Amish community, really?  That doesn't make the path to the ultimate ending any less interesting, though, because you can feel the drama and heartache that the journey causes.  There are lessons to be learned and fun to be had, and I enjoyed the ride.

I've read several of Cameron's books, but I think that Seeds of Hope is the best one yet.

I received a free copy of this book from LitFuse Publicity.  All opinions are my own.

I have been a fan of Barbara Cameron for awhile and I can honestly say this book did not disappoint. Seeds of Hope is Book one in the Harvest of Hope Series and after reading this book I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series.
Coming to terms with where your life has it’s meaning is always a difficult road but when you compound that with feelings and family Dynamics it’s even more of a troubling situations, However if you can learn to trust God to lead you and wait for his guidance than your road will be bright and your journey will enlighten you more than you ever thought possible.
Miriam Troyer’s and Mark Byler’s story will show you that it’s possible to bridge two worlds and creat a life and live happy instead of living just to work.
Every character in this book will pull you in and show you how God works in our lives even when we are not sure he is there. I highly encourage you to read the book.

What could a busy Philadelphia attorney have in common with an Amish school teacher? Maybe nothing but when Mark Byler, Attorney-at-Law, unexpectedly finds himself out of a job he returns to Paradise, Pennsylvania, to visit his grandfather and help with the harvest. Amish school teacher, Miriam Troyer has had a secret crush on Mark since they were teenagers, but knows they can be nothing more than friends. She loves her job as school teacher, her family and her community. My favorite quote from the book is “Mark had been so busy making a living that he hadn’t made a life.” How true that is for many of us! Will Mark realize God has given him an understanding of what he’d been missing? Will his visit be permanent or just a break while he waits for a job? I enjoyed this book in the Harvest of Hope series and look forward to reading others in the series.

I received this book to review. Opinions shared are mine.

I find it interesting when an Amish novel contains a blend of the Plain life and Englisch living.  In Seeds of Hope, author Barbara Cameron set up a good contrast between the two. In the story, main character Miriam took time out of her day to deliver meals to an elderly neighbor.  This is something I enjoy doing, too, so it made me relate to her.  The neighbor's grandson Mark makes an appearance in the story as an Englisch man looking for an escape into the Amish world while some work issues get resolved.  It was frustrating that Miriam's affections for Mark were so painfully obvious.  These moments dragged on, making me a little frustrated. There's a strong undercurrent of God's will in Seeds of Hope.  Our timing is not God's timing, and it's often only in hindsight that we can see how He worked things together for good.

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Litfuse in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Seeds of Hope by Barbara Cameron is a sweet Amish fiction novel. I always enjoy books in this genre so I wasn’t shocked when I fell in love this this book. I have read several other books by this author so I hoped that I would enjoy this one like I did those books. I really loved that this book included more than just the typical Amish characters. I love when the authors bring in characters that are just “normal” people. I was a huge fan of Mark right from the start and I didn’t stop loving him. Miriam got on my nerves from time to time but in the end I did fall in love with her as well. If you love Amish fiction than I would recommend this book to you.

I strongly recommend this book for people who love to read Amish fiction.
Barbara is an excellent writer who can blend everything nicely in the best of both worlds.
The cover of the book is what made me want to read this book and the fact that Amish fiction is my most favorite thing to read along with historical fiction.
I envied Mark because he didn’t know what he had and what he had was right in front of him!!

This is the first book in a new series by this author. I thought it was a good start and look forward to more in the series. The characters were well developed and made me think of them as real people that we may all know. Both the main characters Miriam and and Mark had some big decisions to make in their lives. It was nice to be able to "see" what they were thinking as they were going through the process. This author likes to add all the little details to make this story not only fun to read but also emotionally involved. Another good book by Barbara Cameron - always a joy to read her books.

As I read this story, I was impressed at the respect the author gave towards the Amish culture. She also portrayed a realistic situation where two people with completely different backgrounds are able to develop a relationship. I fell in love with both characters; Miriam and Mark. I couldn’t imagine how difficult it would be to have a crush on a boy from childhood but know deep down inside it would never work with their differences. This was a heartwarming story that I looked forward to reading every chance that I got. I loved the simplicity of the Amish culture intermixed with the “Englischer” way of life. If you love these types of stories, you will enjoy this new up and coming series!
