This book goes back to basics.

The headmaster is now back at a school and has similarities to the original of what his plans are but are now up to date of ways to get into people minds.

There is also a TV Adaption but the TV adaption is better in my opinion due to the key differences which do not appear in the book. There is a connection between the original book in the TV Series where as the book there is not.

A few changes since I read it 30 years ago. With the headmaster controlling parents through the school pages on the computers only 2 children late for the school term seem to find something amiss. Drones following their every move can they stop the Demon headmasters plan to control the prime minister on his visit? A fun read for 8+

I absolutely loved the original books when I was a child, and - in updating them for modern times with smartphones, drones and academies - Cross pulls off the impossible: making a decades-old concept feel fresh and relevant, and somehow making me still fear the Headmaster, one of the best villains ever in literature. Perfect entertainment for kids - and adults!

42 WORD REVIEW:

One of the great middle grade villains returns, bringing his hypnotic powers into the digital age. At first the characters’ understanding lags a bit too far behind the reader’s. Thereafter, however, the kids become plucky and resourceful heroes, easy to cheer for.
