Rebecca’s books are always great. I love the mystery and suspense of her books. The ‘who done it’ aspect.
With Translating the Tides she did it again. She takes you on a ride where you get sucked in and want to know who did it and have no clue along the way. Translating the Tides is well written with well developed characters and keeps you glued to the pages to see what is going to happen.
I want to mention that Translating the Tides is on the long side- only so you give yourself enough time to read it without rushing.
Full of twists and turns, Translating the Tides is one book you don’t want to miss!

I really enjoyed the interaction between Robert and Gia. And that ending.... I was so happy for them both! It brought tears to my eyes. This is by far my favorite couple and book. Lol. I loved it so much that I just couldn't put it down. You did a fantastic job!
Another great read from Rebecca Rohman. This book has everything you want in a romantic thriller. Two strong main characters in Robert and Gia, who take you through a breathtaking story. It’s descriptive, full of unexpected suspense and has plenty of twists and turns, one hell of a rollercoaster ride. 5*
Robert Hunter never expected his latest sting operation to take the turn it did. Losing his partner who was more like a brother shook him to his core. He vows to find the person responsible and make them pay.
Gia French is taking the first steps into her new life. A new job, a new city, a new beginning. To make things even better, she's finally getting to know her father.
A chance meeting brings these two unlike individuals together. Their first meeting was less than stellar but an unexpected incident draws them closer. And the longer they spend together the more intense their sparks burn.
But things take a turn that will takes these two on a journey that will not only test their bond but also put their lives in jeopardy.
As the secrets start to unfold and they begin to learn that their lives are intertwined, will they be able to solve the mystery before the danger over takes them?
Translating The Tides is a thrilling, seat on the edge of your seat, suspenseful read that takes the reader on a journey that will take your breath away.
Rob may be a rough around the edges on first appearances but if you take the time to get to know him you'll see just how amazing he is. His love for those close to him is just as deep as his love for his family. But it's the lengths he goes for Gia that is truly endearing.
Gia is a strong, independent woman that works hard for everything she has. Even when her father comes into her life she could have easily taken everything he had to offer and never lift a finger again, but that's just not her style. She's a grounded, well-rounded person you can't help but fall in love with.
The passion between Rob and Gia sizzles right off the pages. I love how they take the time to get to know each other both in the bedroom and out. They both can see just how special the other is and do the work to make their bond stronger.
I really loved this exciting and suspenseful storyline that will keep you guessing what will happen next with a flawed yet appealing hero, a bewitching heroine, and seductive romance.
I highly recommend you pick up Translating The Tides and let Rebecca take you on an adventure that will leave you with a beguiling book hangover.
4.5 stars! I enjoyed this story more than I expected. I liked Gia's determination and independence as well as her desire to help her family back in Brazil. Rob was someone who grew on me. He is out for revenge when his partner was killed on a routine job. After being fired, he leaves the country and travels to Italy where he meets Gia. This is where he started to become more than just a person trying to solve a murder. The scenes with both of them as they get to know each other and start falling in love were very good.
However, Gia doesn't know that someone is following Rob, nor does she know what happened to his partner. She decided to get to know her father, even though her mother chose not to have him in their lives... Has he changed? Was her mother wrong to have kept them apart for so long? When Rob recognizes her dad, things start to get suspenseful. What does he have to do with Rob's partner?
Gia finds out the truth about her father and gives him an ultimatum. And things take a turn for the worst. This becomes an exciting race against time as the story heads to Brazil.
There is a good balance of very sexy scenes, suspense, and adventure that had me guessing about some things until the end. There were good secondary characters that added to the depth of the story, and I got a taste of what it is like in a favela.
Gia is 31; Rob is in his 30s as well, which worked for me as I prefer stories with heroines age 30 or older for more life experience.
Note: I received an advance reading copy. This is my honest review. I have read, reviewed, and purchased other books by this author.
Translating the Tides is a typical Rebecca Rohman book; great characters and the best kind of suspense. Rohman truly knows how to weave a true blue romantic suspense story. One of the best things about the author and this book in particular as well is the well-balanced equation between romance and the suspense. Her book always leave me with an innate inability to guess who the culprit is. So far I have read all the books Rohman has written, and in none of them was I able to guess the real villain. Rebecca Rohman is well on her way to becoming one of the best whodunit authors.
Translating the Tides, in my opinion, was a bit darker than Rohman's other books, but that does not dampen your enjoyment of the book, in fact it makes the book better. Translating the Tides starts with FBI Agent Robert Hunter standing over his best friend's dead body. It was supposed to be a simple mission of planting bugs, but it led to the death of Robert's best friend and fellow agent, Callum. From hereon starts Robert's mission to get revenge for his friend's death.
While investigating Callum's death, Robert crosses path with Gia French. Neither of them know how intricately linked Gia is to Rob's investigation. I love how Rob and Gia's relationship progresses. They are pretty great together and their chemistry is hot as hell. There were times when both the characters grated on my nerves, but that was soon forgotten with each page I turned over.
Translating the Tide was full of raw suspense, love, and unforeseen twists and turns. With two amazing protagonists and some equally great side characters, this book is by far one of the best books by Rebecca Rohman.
Wow this story just when I didnt think Rebecca could write any better she goes and writes something like this story. I loved it. Being hooked from the start right to the end was amazing. Every detail of this story was well thought and explained very very well. The the different events in this story had my emotions all over the place right to the shock on every page to the love I felt for Rob and Gia. Omg the characters they are so not hard to love, and best part getting to know them and watch how the flow together and really become this amazing couple even the not so main characters are ones that you can't forget. Warning you might have a smalk book hangover this story. The events that take place really keep your mind going and makes you want to keep turning the page. I loved Love, lies and the DA, but i now have a new fav one I didnt want to end. So worth my time to read, of course it just made me more hooked on the story line and details. You cant help but really feel as id your in the scene picturing them right in front of your face. Rebecca really knows how to write an outstanding story.
***Ireceived this ARC, in exchange for my honest thoughts, I was in no way told what to write, its all me myself and I***
This is a well-written romance thriller. It started off a little slow and I thought at one point that the plot of the story had got lost a little but halfway through this book really kicked in and I couldn't tear my eyes away. There were more twists and turns in the second half of this book than my nerves could handle. Literally, nail biting suspense with a romance teetering on the edge of a precipice to keep the reader well and truly on their toes.
Robert Hunter FBI agent who has revenge on his mind when his best friend and fellow agent is murdered. He is on a mission to find who did this, but nothing could have prepared him for the road he was about to tread and when he meets Gia she just adds to his problems but he can't stay away from her; fate, it seems, keeps pulling them together.
The characters were well written and I enjoyed reading Robert but Gia grated on me at times, secondary characters added immensely to the enjoyment of this book.
Heartfelt at times, sexy, dangerous, exciting; the only thing it lost a star for me was some of the wording used for female genitalia made me literally cringe - just no no no.!!!! If you can get past that then this book is a definite hit !!
I received this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you!
Can someone borrow me more stars? If I give this book only 5 stars, I don’t think it will be enough!
This book is amazing! Well written, rough and tough, sexy, and will stay with your heart.
Rebecca Rohman is one of my most favorite authors. Her books make you feel for every character and they capture your interest from page one. This book is heartfelt in the raw emotions, it draws forth and written with an eloquence that leaves you breathless and craving more, yet aching for the things that befall the character. This book is also inspiring in its hardships that are fought and encouraging in that anyone is deserving of love and has a worth.
I've read everything this woman has written and I plan to keep doing the same. I highly recommend this book!
The best yet from Rebecca Rohman! I didn't think it was possible to surpass what she has written already but she has done it! This felt darker than her previous books and I loved it!
FBI Special Agent Robert is desperate to track down the person who killed his best friend and fellow agent, leading him to leave the Bureau to carry out his own investigation. This investigation leads him to Gia who, unbeknownst to her, is linked to the killer. As they both become targets for some powerful criminal entities they have to fight for their lives in numerous countries whilst exploring their chemistry together and working out who can be trusted.
A suspenseful, edge of your seat read that I couldn't put down. I was immediately pulled into this book and didn't want to let it go. Another superb read from an incredible author.
CSI, meets Criminal Minds meets Scandal, if your a fannof these TV shows then this is a must read. The characters, plots, suspense and espionage lends itself to a page turning thriller, at one point you have to ask how much can one person take. I didn't want to put this book down or see the story end it was soo good. We see Gia who through the love of her family has risen above her circumstances but when trouble comes it's not only her family but friends who put all aside to offer help. Rob is the all time hero, he will leave no stone unturned for justice. I cried not only tears of joy but sorrow, I was invested in getting to know each character. I think Derrick needs his own book and momma G needs to be apart of my family.
Translating the Tides, WOW!!! Loved it!!! I was hooked on this book! On the start of the book tho, I am that a fan of Rob but as the story goes this man is so swoon worthy and I fell in love! With the death of his friend, will do anything to bring it to justice.
My gawd!!! This book is full of surprises, twist and turns! Loved it!!!
WOW! this is the first title I have read by Rebecca Rohman and it won't be the last! this book has twists I didn't see coming! Can't wait to read more by this author!!
Rebecca Rohman does it again another great read!!! What a roller coaster ride of emotions the highs and lows were great!!!Robert and Gia have a great love story!!Can't wait for more from Rebecca!!!

Fantastic book by Rebecca Rohman! The story is well written and very enjoyable. As with all of Rebecca's books it's like going on an adventure. Amazing locations/settings, some great romance, and a good bit of suspense!
This was a romantic-suspense, but it felt lacking in both areas. The author tried to add too many problems and just odd stuff to have in this genre and book, when so much more interesting things could have been included instead, and it was just off and made the story disjointed.
First was the death of the friend at the beginning. I am totally fine with deaths in books, but I feel like whenever there is one at the beginning, the transition to that and the story is always so underwhelming and the death is always pretty glossed over, no matter how close the person was to the MCs. None of the reactions seemed right, and that goes for pretty much the whole book.
The sexual crap in this book wasn't hot, it probably could have been, but the author tried to make the MCs a bit too promiscuous, such as the H having two girls on call for threesomes for whenever, to the h bringing up how she has experimented with girls a couple times. Also this goes for all the friends too, and their swinger ways, like the two couples trying to invite the MCs in for sex, and having the two women in those relationships sexually being together and making a scene in front of everyone, including the MCs, who apparantly had a big problem being asked to join in, but no problem watching it, and getting off on it. Also, apparently no one can be loyal to their partners either, seeing as everyone was pretty much swingers or cheaters in this book.
Another problem was the dialogue, which was so overdramatic and unrealistic. There was also A LOT of it. I love dialogue in books, especially when there is more than inner dialogue, but when pretty much the entire book is talking, with no facial expressions, no descriptions, and no thoughts at all, it just felt very mechanic.
Lastly was the OW drama. Pretty much the first half of the book, the H isn't over his ex-fiance, and kept repeating that. Most of the time this is annoying unless the author pulls a miracle and just makes it as part of the development of the H. In this there wasn't any development at all, it was he knew he would love the ex always, but he just loved the h, or Gia, more. And of course because this HAS to happen with every book with ex drama, the ex comes back pregnant claiming it is the H's baby, and of course the H, thinking it is the right thing to do, almost picks her because shes preggo, over his gf that he "loves more". And then of course she runs, something happens to her, while the baby turns out not to be his, and the ex turns out to be the one who was terrorizing the h the whole time. When this happened, the book automatically went down a star. It is a terrible concept in romance books, and even more in suspense when so many other things could have happened instead.
Overall, not a great book, and not sure why it only has 4 and 5 stars, which leads me to believe they are all fans or friends of the author. Probably won't be reading this author again.

Rebecca Rohman's writing has this ability to make me question what I thought I knew was going to happen. Every. Single. Time. Translating the Tides was no exception. The opening scene gave me buggy eyes complete with a dropped jaw and I just had to know...
I really enjoyed that both Rob and Gia, despite coming from vastly different backgrounds, were fiercely independent and willing to make sacrifices. And they had both made a lot of them. Call it fate, destiny, kismet- whatever you want but these two being thrust into each others orbit couldn't have come at a better, or depending on who you ask, worse time.
I really enjoyed getting to experience the different cultures right along with Gia and Rob as their journey took them around the world and back again. In their search to find answers they seemed to only find more questions and danger. But eventually, as the pieces started to fit together and the picture became clear, it was Gia who stepped it up the. most.
Translating the Tides was a whirlwind. And of course, it being Rebecca Rohman, queen of the unexpected twist, I was suspecting everyone and dissecting every little thing. From the captivating opening, through all the danger and mystery and romance, my mind was trying to put everything together. I guessed wrong more than a handful of times. But the one thing that was never at question was how much Gia and Rob were it for each other.
Translating The Tides is another suspenseful masterpiece that kept me on the edge of my seat with heart racing. And that means that I'm giving very little of the plot up, as I believe it will be so much more enjoyable for readers to experience it blindly like I did. Rebecca Rohman is brilliant at weaving together a story that has twists & turns around every corner that keeps my attention 100% engaged to the point that I can't move until every page is devoured, and she did it again with her new exciting story. See, FBI Agent Robert Hunter is on a job when his best friend & partner is murdered which sends him on a journey to find out who did it. Only it's so much more than he bargained for, & in his quest, he meets Gia who he feels an instant attraction to. Then after he's starting to really become attached to her, he learns that she's the murderer's daughter. Crazy huh?! Yeah, it's definitely a thrilling ride cover to cover, as nothing as it seems, and the whole time, I'm questioning everyone involved, as I couldn't guess who was bad & who was good, so my f-bomb dropping skills were strong. And if the intense suspense isn't enough, Ms. Rohman talented writing style describes the different countries that they traveled to, in such rich detail that I feel like I was there in person. There isn't anything in this story that I didn't love, so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

What an amazing journey to love that is full of intrigue, suspense and drama. Rob is an FBI agent and when his best friend is killed on an assignment, he makes it his mission to find his killer. As he heads to Europe to follow a lead, he meets Gia, a woman that won’t take any of his BS. Circumstances keep these two together which allows them to explore an unexpected connection. As Rob continues his investigation, he ends up putting them both in danger. There are so many wonderful layers to this story but it’s hard to review and give away the many surprises along the way. I loved Rob and Gia’s connection. They both had suffered loss and needed to learn to trust and open their hearts under challenging situations. Gia’s sense of family was a healing balm to Rob’s broken soul which was wonderful to experience.
When I want a Romantic Thriller, Rebecca Rohman is my go-to Author. She has a way of telling a compelling story with the right mix of "feels" and sexy. Her characters are the kind you can relate with and you want to see more of, from Primary to Secondary. I loved the twists and turns we went on with Robert and Gia, the story kept me reading and made it very hard to put down - even when I needed to sleep.
Ah, what can I say. This book is so very well written. It is steamy and suspenseful. You will not be disappointed!
Rob is a former FBI agent seeking revenge for the death of his slain partner/best friend. Gia Is a girl seeking a better life. Their lives intersect and they are in for the ride if their lives.
The story is unique. The characters are very well written. The settings are so well written you feel like you are there (I definitely have some places added to my to do list).
Once again Rebecca takes you on a ride and keeps you guessing until the end. As usual, you suspect everyone and as usual it’s right in front of you. At one point I even suspected one of the main characters was involved. I did find it slow to start but then BAM it was go go go....and now I want to go to Rio and Milan.
I liked the overall story, Rob and Gia, how they meet, the ups and downs, the back and forth between them. There is great suspense, moments that kept me on my toes and continuing to flip pages. With that said, there's A LOT of detail, and some verbiage that sometimes didn't fit, some experiences that felt like it was just too much, too over the top, almost there for shock value. I did like Rob's dedication to find out what happened to his best friend, his pull to Gia and that connection that they had to each other. Getting past some of those distractions, it's a good read with likable characters and characters that were perfect to hate!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A meet up at the ticket counter of the airport sets this relationship on a course neither Rob or Gia expects. Robert Hunter is looking for revenge. Gia French is headed back to work.
"I said you're an *******. What are you going to do, beat me up? You stupid dingbat." -Gia
During the next six days, lives will be changed.
"Yeah, I've seen the effects. Revenge rarely solves any problems. It only creates more." -Gia
The next several events and months will determine just how much those six days meant. Will these events push Rob and Gia apart? Will they make them stronger?
