Jane / John Doe is the story of Scott, a Transgender Man, who lives in a small Bible belt town in Texas. Scott works for the county as a recovery specialist, this means that when there is a death Scott retrieves the body and turns it over to the coroner for the autopsy or takes the body to a funeral home.
This book follows Scott on his journey from arriving at the scene to pick up a deceased female to the discovery by Scott and his Justice of the Peace Colleague Chase that the deceased female is in fact a Transgender Woman who Chase believes has been murdered.
We follow Scott on this journey with Chase as they attempt to find out what has happened to their Jane \ John Doe. The journey that Scott and Chase find themselves on is not an easy journey and there are some obstacles that stand in their way but Scott and Chase do not give up and are determined to find out what has happened to their victim.
I absolutely loved this book. I found the characters were very well developed and Blake does a fantastic job of describing the background story as well as the current situations that you find the characters in.
I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more by this very talented author.

This is a sweet little story about an investigator in a homicide case. The protagonist, Scott, is a transman which gets points from me because we always needs more diverse characters (books), and the story was a good one. However I felt that the tension wasn't as high as it could be in a few scenes, and the reveal of who the murderer was could have had a little more foreshadowing. But I don't regret reading this book at all, and I quite enjoyed it. If you want a book with diverse characters and enjoy murder investigations then you'd enjoy this.

Blake Everstone is new to me and I absolutely loved Jane/John Doe. This book had everything I love to see in a book. There was a strong plot, independent and well developed characters, suspense, and it kept me intrigued from the first page until the last.
Scott Wright was a transman whom was “The Undertaker.” When an unidentified transgender woman was found dead…it made him remember his abusive past that he was keeping hidden. And that gave him the inspiration to get justice for the deceased while helping Judge Chase Riley.
This book kept me guessing until the killer was revealed and I was completely shocked. Well done Blake!!
