Playing Games

Rate this book
He's a billionaire.
He's bored.
And he wants to play with me.

Cole Ford is the perfect man. Literally.
He's spent all day chasing me, commanding me to come back to his mansion for a night of passion.
If this was real, I'd say yes in a heartbeat.
But it's not real.
It's just a game. A twenty-four hour roleplay with him as the billionaire and me playing the femme fatale.
Just a bit of fun.
He's not really in love with me, just my character.
But what if I don't want to play games anymore?
What if I want to tell him how much I want him?
That would be breaking the rules.
I've never broken the rules before.
Until now.

descriptionI like this cover. It has good compostion and interesting typography. The hero wears a suit, so good representation of one of the characters as well.description

descriptionI loved this one. It's probably one of my favorites by this author, and the whole setup of the story was unique. It was well written and nicely paced. No OM drama. A tiny bit of OW drama. No angst. It was kind of low on the heat scale, but that didn't take away from the story, and both characters were likable.

description

Now, personally, I would have liked to have seen the drama drawn out a little bit more. I would have added a nice little bit of angst to the story and would have provided an opportunity for the hero to do some chasing and groveling. The ending felt a bit rushed, and forgiveness is given a little too quickly. But like I said, that's just a personal preference thing as the angst that setup could have created happens to be my favorite type of angst in my romance books. In any case, this still gets two thumbs up from yours truly.description

I read this novella as an ARC for Lucy Wild in exchange for an honest opinion. She is one of my favorite writers and I always enjoy her stories. This one was no different!
Karina is a somewhat naive young woman that has made the critical mistake of picking the wrong man. As she realizes this mistake and is chasing her soon to be ex through a park she runs into sexy Cole Ford. He is quite taken by her and proceeds to invite her to his establishment.
Cole is a bored billionaire who has had his share of women. Meeting Karina just for a moment he is very attracted to her. When Karina finally gets up the nerve to go, after her roommate makes a reservation for her without her knowledge, agree us extremely surprised. Will Karina and Cole get to enjoy each other play a game or will Karina's fears stop her from experiencing her wildest dreams?
I really loved the flow of this novella. And I would live to read what happeneds next but I did feel good about the ending. I enjoyed the outcome. Looking forward to the next one!

This was a short quick read that I liked. Cole Ford is a hot sexy billionaire who is also use to getting what he wants. Karina is a young struggling artist, who has just been made a fool of by her soon to be fiancé. When Cole sees her and he falls for her he wants her has his submissive. He lures her into a game to make her deepest wish come true. He owns a company that makes it's money by providing people with a way to live out their biggest fantasy situation. Sometimes they are elaborate, with complicated plots and sets. This was a dark sexy read with some hot sexy scenes. I have read this author before this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

This was a quick, steamy read with a good storyline and a likeable hero & heroine.

Cole is a bored billionaire who makes his money bringing people's biggest fantasies to reality. Karina is a quiet & extremely woman who has no idea what Coles latest "game" entails when he finds her running after her ex. Karina is extremely wary of Coles proposition but, wants to take a risk for once in her life and be adventurous. And the game takes off from there.

Let’s Play!

Do you want to read creative, professionally written, original material with plenty of heat… then one-click a Lucy Wild novella!

“Billionaire’s Game” is incredibly fast paced and sucked me right in from the very first page. The concept is like nothing else currently available (to my knowledge) and I’ve learned to expect the unexpected with each of Lucy’s books. Lucy Wild has such a remarkable talent for writing likeable, witty, intelligent, vulnerable and totally identifiable characters. Both protagonists in “Billionaire’s Game” are all of the above and so much more! The story flows seamlessly, the buildup is intense, the chemistry hot and the conclusion (as always) completely heartwarming.

If you’re looking to read something different as well as unexpected search no further and let the games begin!

Loved reading this book... What started out as a game between Karina and Cole turned into something real. I truly thought it would end in heartbreak for Karina but it didn't. I would recommend this to all my friends and can't wait for the next book by Lucy.

*I was gifted this ARC from the author and are freely giving my review of it*

I've read some stories from this author and they have been good but this one was not one of my favourites.

The writing style is easygoing and filled with dialogues so it is no problem coming through the story but I felt confused and irritated at the game thing in the story. Again that's just my opinion.

The love scenes are good and hot and that for me was some of the reasons I finished it. Another reason is that it's easy to read.

In my opinion this story lacked well written characters, I felt like they didn't come through clearly to me, it was almost as they were blank canvases.

I know this author can do so much better so I gave 3 stars because of potential.

"Billionaire's Game" by Lucy Wild was a pretty good read with an interesting plot.

This story revolved around "playing the game". Cole Ford was owner and mastermind behind Game Inc. An organisation that hosted virtual reality games where people could play out their wildest fantasies from robbing banks to being a millionaire for the day. Game Inc had a new scenario they wanted to try out, but first they needed to find the perfect girl to play the part...

Karina Browning, young, shy, naturally submissive is in love with her boyfriend and couldn't be happier. About to move in together and soon to be engaged, her life is perfect, she can't wait to be Tony's wife... then everything changed.

Karina chance encounter with Cole Ford is a game changer. Cole knows she would be the perfect girl to star in his new scenario, he just needs to convince her of that?
Holly, Karina's best friend and roommate thinks it's a great idea and just what she needs. When Karina looks like she is going to turn the offer down, Holly takes matters into her own hands and signs her up.

You will have to read the book to find out how the game plays out. It was a good concept by the author which I really enjoyed. What i didn't so much enjoy or should I say, confused me, was Karina's character. It's hard to explain without giving away the story but it comes down to the authors portrayal of her and silly things she would do e.g. burst out crying because she was developing feelings after spending 5 seconds (slight exaggeration but close) with him etc, etc.

Cole Ford was a well written character, although, once again Wild has not given enough details and background for me to really know who the characters are on a personal level e.g. age, parents etc... ? This is my biggest complaint with all of Lucy's books, that she doesnt do enough character development, thus giving the reader more emotional connection. I think if she made her characters a little stronger and gave the reader more of the finer details, she would be more successful in having a great book as opposed to a good book?

The author did state this book was a novella of sorts and depending on the reaction from readers, if she would continue with the story or not. So knowing that i dont want to be too harsh... i think if Lucy tweaked the story slightly (mainly the way things went down with Tony) it was somewhat silly, yes it could happen, yet the writing style made it somewhat immature, it needs more umph! Hopefully you understand what I mean? And made Karina a little tougher... a woman can be both submissive and strong successfully - these are my favorite roles for my girls, then i think this story could be quite a page-turner and something i would love!

Overall a good read with an interesting plot but needs some fine tuning 💖

This was quite an intriguing storyline and the plot was exceptional. I enjoyed reading the book immensely and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Fate brings Karina and Cole together, when they accidentally bump into each other in the park. Karina is upset because her fianc Tony has run off and left her; not only that he has taken all her money. Karina thinks it is some sort of joke until she realises he is truly gone. Cole is not supposed to be at the park, but at work; Game Inc. had recently expanded and it was a hectic time. The game had been running for 5-years and Cole’s investment had been repaid several times over. Whoever signed up was interviewed extensively to see what they would like to do in 24-hours and there was quite a waiting list. There is a game that hasn’t been attempted yet and Cole is going to be the first to try it out. Once the Club was ready, Cole could then go out and look for a woman to play with. But the minute Cole sees Karina, he realises at once that he wasn’t going to find anyone better; she would be the perfect player. Karina receives a call from Game Inc. Holly, her house-mate, had made an appointment for Karina to play a game she knows nothing about, but Holly has ulterior motives; with Karina’s help she wants to write an undercover article about the company. In the end Karina agrees to go, and is glad Holly made the decision for her. It has always been easier for Karina to just go with the flow and it made her life so much easier; she was never any good at making decisions. The game would hopefully distract Karina; after all it was only for 24-hours, so what could possibly go wrong? Karina is going to be the new girl at a private member’s club and her persona is Melissa. As Karina plays the game, she goes into character and it is like a dream come true; she is having the time of her life. It is only a game, but it is still possible to pretend it is real for a short time. Karina would never be bold, confident, assured, but Melissa might and that is who she is now. At the end of the evening, Cole steps out knowing Karina would follow him; there was one last test just to be sure. But is Cole getting dangerously close to breaking his own rules? Karina meanwhile, still thinks she is playing the game when Cole asks her to choose a door to enter; there are three, but which one did she want to spend the night in? They were playing a game and it is her move! A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Karina just had her heart broken. Literally five minutes ago, when her fiancé stole her money and ran away with them. So she’s busying herself with crying on the bench in park and that’s how Cole finds her. He offers her to participate in some game. With a persuasion of her friend, she agrees to it. And that’s how the fun begins...

I just read it in one sitting, not even in two hours. That was quick and short, but it’s a novella, so it couldn’t be very long. I just like longer stories, because with the short ones the problem is that you can’t really attach to the main characters when the end is so fast.
But I liked the prologue – I already said it in another review. I like this little preview of the whole story which we have at the beginning and we can wonder how did the get in that place. But with this one, I thought that it actually won’t happen. I get it that Karina was shy, or insecure, or whatever, but how many times did she run away from him? Two, three? I don’t know why, but I found it really annoying.
This whole idea with Game Inc. – that would be really interesting in real life. That’s basically the firm which meets your fantasy, not really the sexual ones, with the help of actors. You want to rob the bank? They’ll set it up for you. Want to run naked in front of library? You’ve got it. And all without consequences. Huh. I don’t know what would I do if I could use their services. ;)
Almost in the end of story, things got a little dramatic. When Cole found about that article and got very angry... that would be great ending if they don’t make up instantly, but he would throw her out and that would be the end. It would leave us hanging and that would be the perfect place to start another book about them. But either way it was fun read, just short. ;)

I've become a real fan of Lucy Wild's darker romances, and this one was no exception. It was a fresh and interesting premise, and though it seemed like it could have been a little more dangerous, Cole seemed to have pretty tight control over things.

Cole was rich, Karina was broke. Her heart had just been broken, as well, and the "game" with Cole gave her an outlet. A way to forget for a little bit. It was hot and sexy, and then she went back to real life. Except the connection she and Cole shared didn't quite allow for things to settle back to the old normal.

It's hard to write a review when you don't want to reveal spoilers. Let me just say that, through a good portion of the book, the reader was left wondering, like Karina, how much was the game and how much was real. It was fascinating to discover, and I liked the romantic suspense of it.

I don't hesitate to recommend this book. It's hot, it's a relatively quick and easy read, and it left me smiling. Actually, it was probably the sweetest dark romance I've ever read!

I really liked this book. Cole has decided that he wants to play a game. When Karina ran right in to him, he decided that he found the one he wanted to play with.

Karina is a pretty easy character to relate to. She is a struggling artist, and the man that she loves just scammed her out a whole lot of money and left her. So now she is broke and heartbroken. Thankfully she has a great housemate that pushes her into taking advantage of the opportunity she has been given.

The game itself was a little confusing to me. I guess I did not really understand what was supposed to happen in the game. She took the chance and then ended up spending some real time with Cole. Problem is she can't figure out if he is still paying the game even though the initial night is over. She never knows if he really likes her, or if he is acting. Once she finally catches on that he is serious about her, he finds out something that makes him feel like she betrayed him..... and for once in her life she decides to stand up and fight for what she wants! Now the only question is, will it work???

The Wonderful Game That We Know As Love💘

ARC received for an Honest Review

I loved this book because it was different from all the other "billionaire" books I have read lately. I just wondered In the beginning why Cole🐺🍌🌋✋ didn't just ask Katrina💋👙💔 out to start with? Why did he make it into such a confusing game? Guess he was just really into 🎮game playing.

Cole is a handsome, rich, alpha billionaire stud🐺🍌🌋✋💔. He owns a company that makes it's money by providing people with a way to live out their own fantasy situations. Sometimes they are elaborate, with complicated plots and sets.
When he literally stumbles into the beautiful Katrina💋👙 in a park chasing her ex boyfriend💔 because he stole all her💰money, Cole knows he wants her as his submissive💋✋ and he sets up his own elaborate scheme to win her, and she is the 🌟star.
Cole🐺🍌🌋 is a known Spankmeister✋✋✋, a binder, and an Alpha play master extraordinaire! He just forgot to let Katrina💋👙 in on the game!

YEHAW! Ride em Bareback🍌, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

There were a few misspellings but nothing distracting from the overall 📚reading.

Sexy read with a twist…

Wow this is a sexy read with a twist…. Cole is the owner of a company that invests in peoples dreams…..Karina has just been heartlessly ditched by her boyfriend when she is unexpectedly pulled into Cole’s world…they plan for 24 hours of escapism but ex girlfriends and emotions are not always so easy to control…

I really liked the prologue with Karina discussing her current, compromising position, with an awareness that there is a reader listening in making the narrative seem more personal…both main characters take it in turns to tell their version of events…together they seem perfectly matched but the ambiguity of their relationship makes them question their true feelings…both unable to determine reality from make believe…

This is a really great original premise for a book and although it was short the characters and the story development felt satisfyingly complete … I received a copy of this novella from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review

Review Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars.

This was a good quick & spicy read, of a fantasy-made-reality scenario!

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Billionaire's Game written by Lucy Wild and voluntarily reviewed this book. Cole Ford was in in the park when Karina Browning literally ran into him. Instantly entranced, Cole invites her to participate in a new role-play game his company, Game Inc, is trying out. Karina needed a job at the time, so when her roommate made an appointment for her to prod her into doing this, she kept it. The scenario of this new game is a private member's club, and Karina is to be introduced as a new member, only to be snatched up by Cole.

As the game unrolls, Karina becomes engrossed in her role as she is introduced to Cole's play room and all that it entails. But, soon, the line between what is the game and what is reality becomes faded. This feeling is likewise for Cole - he soon finds himself playing for real with Karina and playing for keeps, and it is time for him to make it clear to her. Great storyline and characters!

***I voluntarily read thisARC to give an honest review*** Karina was so happy. She was on her way to meet her fiance, Tony. She was to move in with him. But when she met him, he was only concerned if she had brought the money that he had to told her he needed for their apartment. When she gave him the two thousand dollars, he ran from her into the crowd. She at first thought he was playing. But as he picked up speed as she yelled after him, she knew he wasn't playing. While running trying to catch him, she ran into a man that didn't see her coming. She fell and he helped her up. She sat on a bench and started to cry. He thought she was crying from the fall and she told him what had happened. He thought she was cute. He told her she needed a distraction and invited her to play a game. To tell the people at the address on the card he gave her that Cole Ford had sent her. Her roomie, Holly, who never liked Tony, after finding out what had happened and about Cole Ford called the number on the card while Karina slept. The game was on. A good read. Nice one Lucy.

I received an ARC for my review.

This book, as a standalone, doesn't have any depth and there isn't any backstory or character development at all. If this book is meant as a prelude to a longer series, then yes, I could see how this book could be a start-off to a much bigger and better series. But as itself there isn't anything to it and I found myself skipping pages to see if anything exciting was going to happen - some game of some sort was suppose to be played by the two characters but I found myself wondering if I had missed pages because -- where and what was the game?! What was the girl supposed to have done - what was the guy suppose to have done?! Made no sense and the book was boring. I'm only giving it two stars only because there were some funny parts to it and I'm hoping that there is more to the "game" and this is just a short story leading up to an amazing series that the author has yet to write. But as a standalone - boring

Karina is dumped in the most heinous fashion.
She is duped into handing over her life savings only to have her current beau and fiance run out on her.
Humiliated and feeling like a complete idiot, she collapses on a park bench crying her eyes out.
A man(Cole) sits down beside her and offers something to cheer her up.
Her offers her an invite to a live action sim-game.
Karina is skeptical about going, but her roommate makes the decision for her.
Karina goes, she meets Cole, and she has some fun.
She is completely out of her element, unsure of herself, but she has a good time.
During the "game," Cole realizes he ahs real feelings for Karina.
And Karina realizes that she could catch real feelings for Cole.
Karina sees Cole again after the "game," but she isn't sure if they are still playing or not.

Billionaire's Game by Lucy Wild

Karina is burnt by her boyfriend, Tony. He is waiting for her in the park, he wants her money. Karina is so happy, so she is going to be living with Tony, and marry him. Then Tony does the worse thing he could ever do to her, he takes the money and runs. She gives chase but runs into a man and looses Tony for good. Cole is the man she runs into. Whe sits on the bench crying but Cole finds her cute and ask if she would like to be his guess at a new place where they play act as different people, so the game begins. This is a very interesting story about what is real and what others want you to believe is real. I really enjoyed the story and found it hard to put down. The book had me laughing and crying at different parts of the story. I do highly recommend this book and think you would like it. It does have some BDSM but is very mild. The concept of this novella is an interesting one. Cole, a billionaire owner of a virtual game where all your fantasies can be played out, unexpectedly bumps into Karina, a sweet and sexy submissive girl who he feels can 'play' the perfect role for his latest fantasy. Little do either realise, this 'game' develops fast into more than either were expecting!
This is a short, slightly dark romance that isn't as steamy as others I have read by Lucy Wild but, that being said, this novella hints at something that could be taken so much further in a full length story and this would be one I'd love to read. Lucy herself is undecided whether to take this novella to the next level and though this one is nicely packaged with a satisfying ending, I can't help but wonder what other fantasies could be played out when Lucy puts pen to paper!

Irresistible and intriguing

When Cole and Karina collide, it’s fate calling. Cole Ford is intrigued by Karina as she bumps into him, looking downtrodden and helpless. Something about her tells him she may be the next subject of his next fantasy game.

Cole Ford, billionaire extraordinaire, is a brilliant owner of a company whose purpose is to bring one’s fantasy into reality. Karina agrees to be the recipient of the next game, her fantasy of pleasure beyond her imagination fulfilled. But Karina doesn’t realize it’s Cole who wants more. And what point is the game no longer a game but reality.

Ms. Wild brings us a well written and intriguing plot with strong characterization. The sex scenes are hot and you can’t help but be sucked into the imagery. This is a quick read, but strong and satisfying.

3.5 stars rounded up

I have some mixed feelings about this book. I liked Cole until the very end (when he exploded and over-reacted), as he was patient and put up with Karina's constant sudden departures. Karina seemed really naive, immature, and wishy-washy. I liked the story and feel that the book was just too short to due the story justice. The premise of The Game was interesting and the previous games that were mentioned in the book sounded awesome and I would have liked to have seen something like that for Karina instead of the blasé game she in which she participated. Overall, it is a quick little lunch read with a feel good ending.

I like stories by Lucy Wild and this one was no exception.
Cole is a billionaire who owns a "Game Business" where they make people happy doing something they dreamed about but can't do in real life. He wants to start a new concept and needs someone to run through the game.
Karina is having the worst luck with her boyfriend Tony and she literally runs into Cole. he invites her to be the test subject for the new game. Karina's friend pushes her to do it.
I must say I was a bit confused when the game ended and when Cole was juts being Cole.
The storyline is sweet and Karina is a bit weary to Cole's intentions but it is a quick rea that will put a smile on your face.

A unique game will lead two people to find the one thing they had been missing in the latest from Lucy Wild. On the worst day of her life Karina meets Cole and the invitation to participate in a game unlike any she had ever heard of before. Cole is a billionaire that at first comes off as extremely content with his life and with Game Inc, the company he bought to set people up to live out the games of their wildest dreams, but when Karina shows up to the game he had in mind for her he finds he wants the game to be reality. Their one night gets interrupted by his past and it's her art that will bring them back together. Yet both will have to lay it all bare if they want what they find with each other to be more than just a game. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Holy Hotness! The story is a super-fast paced ride that's even sweeter than it is spicy. Imagine if you took the best parts of Fifty Shades and mixed it with Vice, or possibly Gamer, or maybe even Surrogates. (I didn't start out to have a Bruce Willis moment here, but hey, it fits.) With that mix, you'd have something that looks a lot like this little book. I adored watching Karina role-play past her shyness and it was so sweet to see Cole be vulnerable with her. These two are beyond precious together. It was over before I even completely realized it'd begun. I would have loved to see it carry on for another several thousand words. It's like that perfect meal: leaving you completely satisfied but still wanting to come back for more.

The premise was interesting everyone likes to play games. Cole is run into by a distraught woman who is chasing her life as it's running away with all her money. He's looking for someone to play with, bam ! She accepts and throws herself into her new persona. He is contacting her even after the original 24 hour contact us over, he's very serious and no longer playing, she on the other hand doesn't realize that. Finally they are both on the same page. And it's good. If this was turned into a series great but if not it's still good as a stand alone. I enjoyed this quick read. I received an arc copy for my honest review.

Another amazing read by Lucy Wild! Billionaire's Game is funny, sexy, and, hot. Even though this was a short read, the story had everything it needed. I felt like some parts could have been elaborated on some more. The club scene for instance, and the ending. But it did not take away from the story.

I love the duel POV, and the anticipation the story provided. I hope this becomes a series and Ms. Wild continues with this. There are so many directions a story like this could go. Can't wait to find out!
