Exa is a hellion, born with extraordinary powers, but forbidden to use them as a true lord of the dominion, cape and everything. These superheroes-for-hire have it made. Wealth, fame, and the training to back their reputations. But Exa has a plan to defy them all. She's going to join the elite guard of the Gentina, who rules all of the dominion, even the lords. Or die trying.

"Exciting. Innovative. A must-read superhero and fantasy tale." - Paul Tassi, author of the Earthborn Trilogy
"Killerjoy should be on your bookshelf ASAP." - Daniel Ford, author of "Sid Sanford Lives!"
I'm interested in stories that pack a punch. The kind of punch you tell a story about at a party ten years later.
My newest book, the first of a three-part series, is called Killerjoy and is now available in paperback and e-book. Follow on Twitter (@JonNegroni) for any and all updates!
Killerjoy by Jon Negroni is a great read! I'm not a big reader of the fantasy or science fiction genres generally, but this was a captivating novel that immersed me in a fantastical dominion complete with lords, parcels, hellions, masques, and monsters, "for true!" But it wasn't just great fantasy--this story has excellent characters with amazing depth who journey to find their way (and accomplish their personal missions) under the threat of a new annihilation. The story is multi-layered and each main character (Exa, Attle, Demaro Jun and others) has their own story arc. One of my favorite things about this novel was the discovery along the way of how the characters intersected with each other and the unlikely superheroes who begin to emerge. As a side note, I loved the interplay and stereotypes of the different regions within the dominion. And, hey, it has a gargoyle! Who doesn't love that? I can't wait for book two!
This was one of the best Scifi/fantasy reads in a long time. Jon Negroni does a great job of world building and creating characters that draw you in. A world filled with monsters, political sabotage, and superheroes for hire, makes this a difficult book to put down!
I'm biased since I host a podcast with the author, but I will say that the level of care, invention, and detail that went into the world-building, the characters, the mythology, and the story outline is pretty stunning. It's also weird to read a book, look down at your phone, and see text messages from the writer. Now, let's shill the show: check out Cinemaholics wherever you get your favorite podcasts. Thank you and good night.
