My partner, Mr. I Can Eat Anything and never have any issue, went for his physical and came home with a much different attitude than when he left. Blood work showed his sodium was way too high and oddly enough (for him) he started reading labels and asking Google about the sodium content in his favorite foods. Good thing he isn’t a fainter, because he would have been on the floor and we might have had another issue. This book was and is great because it provides so much useful information on what items to keep in your pantry, meal plans, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as well as recipes that don’t require you to shop in the Top Chef pantry or go slightly mad searching for ingredients that no store within a day’s drive seem to carry. Just simple recipes that are good and good for you! A great reference and an easy way to turn someone’s low sodium diet from “what am I going to eat” to “wow this isn’t so bad.”(In the words of said partner)
I received a copy from Callisto Publisher’s Club and am grateful to them for providing this book and happy to provide an honest review.

My husband is on a No salt Diet so I searched for cookbooks and the cover for this one caught my eye. It looks delicious and the word "easy" got my attention. I found the book to be infomative on sodium info and the recipes i have tried so far are all delicious. They are so varied with lunches, dinners, snacks, salads, desserts and spices information. Well worth it!

My son was recently advised to cut back on sodium, and in searching the net I found the recipe I thought couldn't exist -- salt-free dill pickles! It was on Christopher Lower's wonderful web site Hacking Salt.

Well, just the name of the site appealed to me, and I really enjoyed Lower's level of inquiry into the science of dietary salt, which is possibly even more valuable than the great recipes. He talks a bunch about what went into the politics of our dietary guidelines, what kind of disease profiles need what level of lifestyle adjustment -- and more importantly, he really treats it as a dietary adjustment, not a collection of recipes. He also recommends products (many of which he cribbed from research at BHG, which is just fine!) that are condiments and staples that are lower, low or no salt.

It's like he's giving you the parameters, if you can properly absorb them, and the recipes are just a practicum demonstrating the principles.

I love this!

Excellent resource for heart healthy cooking...especially for a novice!

I have not yet tried the recipes in this book since I just finished reading it. BUT...most of them make me WANT to try them! They are regular foods with common ingredients and with easy to make instructions. Plus the writer gives excellent information in a friendly, easy to understand manner. I am so glad I bought this book!!
