descriptionWhat do you know two 5-Star cover rating from yours truly in the same week. I LOVE this cover. Great representation of the story. Great use of graphics. Excellent composition and typography. Bright and eye-catching colors. Fabulous job.description

descriptionI enjoyed this one for the most part. The writing was good. The pace was good. I LOVED the entire cast of secondary characters. This was one of those books with a close knit family type plot, and I can't wait to read more books featuring all of Finn's brothers and sisters. There was no OW/OM drama. No angst to speak of. Unfortunately no descriptive sex scenes (which did lower my rating a bit).

description

Both main characters were fairly likable. Finn I loved. He was super sweet and adorable. Melanie, I found a little harder to like. At certain she just came across WAY too mousy. I realize the author was trying to write her as a shy introvert, but let me tell you "I" am a shy introvert and some of the times Melanie just acted like a clueless idiot. Like after Finn and she finally has sex and tells each other "I love you" she isn't sure he wants her to sleep in his bed with him. Umm, that isn't being shy, that is just being a complete idiot. *lol* Thankfully, for the most part, those times didn't overpower the book.

The major issue I did have with this one is I knew from the very minute this character was introduced that they were going to be the baddie. I even knew what their connection was going to be to the main characters. It was pretty much neon signed from the beginning. In any case, despite those small issues, this was still an enjoyable read, and I look forward to seeing what the author has in store for this family. A thumb and pinky finger up from yours truly.description

*3 OKAY STARS*

Romance? Check.
Suspense? Check.
Meet-cute? Check.
When I read the blurb, I basically thought this would be just the book for me!
Unfortunately, everything apart from the meet-cute fell flat to me.

Melanie and Finn just weren't likable characters to me. Melanie is so insecure, naive and far too trusting (she basically trusts everyone but Finn) and a bit of a grey mouse to be honest. I liked Finn better, and even though I'm usually quick to fall in love with male lead characters, he just didn't do it for me. He was nice enough I guess, just nothing to write home about.
It's safe to say that when you put those two together, the sparks just weren't there in my opinion.

Now on to the "suspense". It annoyed me to no end how freaking long it took for them to find out who was behind everything! It was so obvious, I knew the moment that particular character was introduced. I feel like the suspense/mystery aspect could've been done a lot better as to make it more entertaining for the readers.

The story and the writing itself actually weren't bad, I just think Amy Reece could've done much more with it and made it a lot more exciting.

What I loved the most was Finn's family and the whole dynamic between them. I would probably read the rest of the series just for them.

Received a free copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

A cute romance story between Melanie, an artist and Finn, a detective. They are becoming friends when the same cat is visiting both at the same time.
Thank you Netgalley for this nice book.

According to Mel it’s all the cat's fault. I have one thing to say though and that is cats choose their owners and not the owner choosing the cat. The letters written between Melanie and Finn are a lot of fun especially written in the cat’s perspective.

Mel, Mel, Mel what is one to do with you, huh? She is so naïve when it comes to the big outside world and so trusting in other people. The cynic in me was rearing my head on every page. I liked her until she started acting as if she was in high school which made me cringe a couple times.

Out of the book I preferred Finn than Mel although admittedly he didn’t knock me off my socks either. But he is solid and an absolute diamond when it comes to Mel. Very patient and caring.
If something awful would have happened to the cat I would have had a conniption. I hate cruelty to animals.

There is suspense in the book and it well paced. I kind of guessed the crazy in the book. I liked that there is little o/w or o/m drama and what Mel saw can be misconstrued.

I enjoyed that the sex scenes were on the demure side and that the sweetness of the book. Not too sweet which is a bonus.

This is a solid start to the series and I enjoyed the book.

There are great secondary characters. I love boisterous families and the combination of Irish/Italian well sign me up for more of the DeLucas.

Hugh and Crissy are next.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley

What a huge disappointment!
I really was about to DNF several times, but how it's a suspense romance I needed to know who was the "bad".

Hero: 2stars, and only because he was patient and sweet with heroine. He cheated on his last gf, he was condescending with heroine... Slut shaming here again

Heroine: 2 stars. Socially awkward, low self esteem..

Suspense: 2 stars... It could be a lot better... It seemed like author didn't know how to end the story.

I'd like to read about others siblings. They looked pretty interesting!

You can find this and many more reviews on my blog Marianna's Corner!

I will try to keep this review short, because I don’t really enjoy talking about books I didn’t like. And Watch Over was a total miss. I’ve been trying to find something positive about it that would save it from the 1 star rating, but I really can’t.

From the synopsis I thought Melanie would be an independent and strong willed woman, since “she doesn’t need no man” and all that. Well, that was a lie.

Melanie is an overly insecure and gullible person whose personality revolves around these characteristics. As with every character in the story, she is painfully one dimensional. There is nothing to remember about her other than she is insecure, closed off and plain good. You know like those characters who feed stray animals, help poor people, donate, give time and effort for things that don’t concern them and NEVER feel annoyed or overwhelmed? Yeah, she’s like that. And that’s not bad per se, but for me, I like my characters to be more on the realistic side and less on the idealistic side.

Finn is grumpy and strong. And a cop. That’s all I can recall about him, and I finished the book two days ago. He has a huge family, who of course is present throughout the whole novel, and who of course, become instant fans of Melanie. And that leads me to another point that irked me; Melanie’s relationships or better yet lack of them, She doesn’t have ANYONE. Not a single person she can call friend, or even a casual acquaintance. No-thing. That is unbelievable to begin with, but then she becomes best friends with her boyfriend’s sisters and that is a whole other side of wrong. Why? Because her only friends, the only people she surrounds herself with, are her boyfriend’s family. She has noone outside his circle, I don’t think I need to explain why this is problematic. So there’s an issue of world building in here as well. It is stated that she works but we never see her work; we never see her do anything that doesn’t involve Finn. But we do see Finn doing things apart from Melanie. Let me raise my eyebrows real quick.

Anyway, to close up this review, let me talk a little about the plot twists. Talk about underwhelming. There is this thin mystery subplot going on throughout the novel, and the author makes it so obvious who the culprit is from the very beginning. There was no suspense, and the revelation of the reason driving this person is, in my humble opinion very misogynistic and sexist, as are the majority of themes of the whole novel.

There was also a very passive aggressive comment about mentally ill people in there but I’m already tired and won’t concern myself with it further.

I was provided an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Sweet Romance

I’d probably give this book 3.5 ⭐️ if I could.

This is the first book in a series about one family. This book works as a standalone and has a HEA.

This novel starts with one of the sweetest meetings I’ve read. Finn is a cop. He’s recently returned home after being in an accident and having to stay in rehab and with his family. He’s in a wheelchair and his family keep turning up to help him out, but at least he’s in his own bed.

Finn’s neighbour is a woman called Melanie. She inherited the house she lives in when her great aunt died. She doesn’t get on with her family apart from the aunt she just lost and her job involves working from home. She’s really shy and doesn’t do well in large groups. She has her aunt’s elderly dog Fluff for company and recently a stray cat has been coming round. She decides to adopt it and buys a collar. Then one day she receives a note in the collar from Finn and they end up communicating via cat-mail until he lets it drop he’s in a wheelchair and she’s round like a shot to bring him banana bread and the offer of any help he might need.

This cute meeting is the start of a really sweet romance that is taken slowly. At the same time as their romance is developing there appears to be some problems in Mel’s life and Finn’s cop instincts go into overdrive in his need to protect her.

I really enjoyed the book. It was quite predictable, but very sweet. It was entertaining and made me smile. It didn’t pretend to be anything it isn’t. Sometimes you really want that in a book, to just help you escape from the real world for a bit and that’s what this book does.

This book is a contemporary romance with some suspense. This is the first book in the DeLuca Family series. This series is going to be amazing and I can't wait. This storyline drew me in the beginning and kept me on my toes all the way through. This book will have you addicted from the very first page. It only took me a full day to devour this amazing book.

Melanie Blythe just lost the woman that she admired since she was a child. She moved from Chicago to get a new start. Melanie finds a stray cat that she soon keeps as her own. One day she notices something on her cat’s collar. Melanie opens a letter from her hot cop neighbor. She is intrigued by this note and she writes him back. Melanie doesn't need a man in her life. She had a very troubled past and she doesn't trust men at all. She feels an attraction to her neighbor and she finally decides she needs to move on. Melanie starts to build a relationship with him and then creepy things start to happen. Will Melanie give her neighbor her heart or will she keep it under love and key? Does this new relationship help her move on or will it put her into grave danger?

Finn DeLuca is a detective that is recovering from a hit and run that has not been solved. He is tired of being cooped up in his house. He has a very strong family bond but he is tired of being waited on. One day he decides to have a little fun. He writes a letter to his beautiful neighbor and places it on this cat that keeps coming back to him. Finn is shocked when she answers him back. He starts to feel a connection to her that he can't explain. Finn wants to get know her more. He then notices that she is very skittish around him when they are alone. Finn knows that he has to take things slow but he falls fast. He starts to realize that there is something wrong but will he be too late to help? Will Finn win this woman's heart or will he end up heartbroken?

I absolutely loved this book. This story has it all romance, suspense, and forgiveness. The ending will have you on the edge of your seat. This book has twists and turns I did not see coming. You will fall in love with all of the characters. Melanie is so sweet she will melt your heart. She also has sas that I loved. Finn is your all American hero. He is gorgeous but also has a heart of gold. The way he treats Melanie will make you swoon. These characters also have some intense chemistry. They have some very hot scenes that will make your toes toes curl. I love it when authors write their books in both characters points of views. This makes you have more of a personal connection to the characters. I also love the De Luca family and how strong they are. I'm very excited to read more about this family. I can't wait to see who this talented author will write about next.

4.5 Stars!

New author for me alert! I'd never heard of Amy Reece before this book but holy smokes this book was so so good. I love a good romantic suspense and Amy hit all my marks! Now that is how you start a series!

Watch Over is the first standalone novel in the DeLuca Family series and just wait until you meet Finn and Melanie... it was totally epic and Finn, he's one of those special guys. Sexy. Sweet. Suspenseful. Twisted. Intense. Fun. Their journey was everything y'all, just *sigh*.

It's a moment in life that can change everything. The note on her cat... is just that. For these two, life is about to get complicated in a whole lot of ways, some good and some not so good.

With undeniable chemistry, great banter, zinging sparks, all kinds of feels, twists & turns, loads of steam & sexual tension, and danger lurking around the corner... they are in for the ride of their lives.

If you read one new author this year, give this author and this amazing a book whirl.

I highly recommend this book.

Watch over me is a clean romance in the since that there is no graphic sex scenes but there is swearing.

Watch over me has the right amount of humor, romance mystery, family and love that will keep readers wanting more after they finish book one!

Amy Reece is able to create very likable characters who come to life as their lives are thrown together all because of a cat. The story has a very even flow that feels nautral as their relationship moves quickly though the story. This is a perfect book to curl up on the couch and enjoy the please of reading. The characters are fun, life like and a family everyone would want to be apart of and not be apart of.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publsher Limitless Publishing LLC for the Advance copy of Amy Reece Watch over me.

Between 3 and 4 stars but I don't know if it's enough to round up So we'll leave it at 3 stars for now. I liked it.

The writing was well paced, with the plot and the romance each building well. I loved their meet cute. The anonymous messages via kitty collar was a fun set-up. Honestly, best part of the whole story. It's fairly clean. Yes, there's some language and the characters are having sex, but it's all off screen. Behind closed doors, so to speak. Not too sweet, but not steamy.

I liked Finn and his family. While not my favorite H (missing that extra something to make him a personal favorite), he was sweet, intelligent, and had a sense of humor. He was great with Melanie - sweet and concerned and protective of her (though not sure what the attraction was, but I think that's more my issue with Melanie) and had a great relationship with his family. His family was a fun cast of characters too. Am looking forward to their stories.

One of my biggest issues was the h, Melanie. She's scarred by her past relationship, but that just wasn't believable for me. She was just too naive and immature for me, but it didn't feel like that was from her past, but just from her. How she reacted after seeing Finn with his ex was just one example of that immaturity. Yes, it was a potentially ambiguous scene she saw, but she never even tried to talk to him about it. He's telling her he loves her, his family's telling her he loves her, everyone is saying how much better she is for Finn than his ex, but what does she do? Completely shuts him out. Rather an overreaction, and an immature one at that. And how she interacted with everyone regularly, even outside her relationship with Finn - just railroaded over by so many people, way too trusting and naive. One example - her pushy neighbor? "I don't like you and am not comfortable with you stopping by, but I'm going to have you come in, offer you tea, and let you use my bathroom, even though you live directly across the street and could easily go home."

The other issue was the villain. Pretty obvious who and why it was from the moment they were introduced. Yet it took the characters forever to get there.

Alternating 3rd person POV. No OW/OM or love triangle drama (well, not in that sense). Immaturity and lack of communication all on Melanie's end (seriously, she wouldn't even talk to him at all after seeing him with his ex). Again, not my favorite h. Love the meet-cute and the premise, though the execution of the suspense was a bit simplistic. No cliffhangers and an HEA for the leads. Chrissy and Hugh's story is hinted at, since their story is next, Safe Guard.

Would I read more in the series? Yes. Enjoyed all the DeLuca family and looking forward to their stories. The writing and pacing were well done, so hopefully without spineless Melanie as a lead, the story will improve too. A series to look for, especially if on special/for free on Kindle.

Before we even get to the review I must see I nearly dropped this more a dozen times before I even finish reading the first chapter. The format for the ARC was driving me crazy and it was so distracting. Double spaced and the some of the sentences weren't even on the same line.

“Watch Over” was not what I was expecting when I requested to read this. By the time I got to chapter 2 I already knew this was a goner. The blurb was a lot more interesting than the actual story itself. I was disappointed in the lackluster content, characters, storyline and how unengaging everything was. Unfortunately I had to dropped this series by chapter 6 at 22%.

Cannot wait to read more, could not put this book down!
I love the way Author Amy Reece is able to put so much quintessential substance to all of her characters. The depth of each individual is what made this book so intriguing for me. The action and emotional connections make between characters for an amazing read. The family construct for both main individuals, only child for one and one of six siblings for the other is an eye opener for both sides. I recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of mystery to their romance as well as a wonderful HEA. Well Done!🌺

Watch Over by Amy Reece has great chemistry between her characters. I cannot lie, the book really drew me in with how her characters started communicating through letters that they would attach to a cat’s collar. The cat seemed to like hanging out with the man (Finn) in the morning for breakfast and then would wander over to see the woman (Melanie) after she was done. The humor in the letters made me actually laugh out loud a few times, which ultimately had my husband asking me what I was laughing at and then I would fill him in and he would chuckle a little himself (he could have just been laughing at me, thinking I am crazy LOL). That was just the beginning of drawing in my interest into the story and the fact that there was a mystery to be solved is what kept me intrigued. The fact that Melanie and Finn turn in to great “friends” and help each other out helps make the plot that much stronger and the way they bounce off one another makes it an easy read. Sometimes reading a mystery can be so series and almost tense, but this was almost refreshing. You also had the relationships going on around the two main characters that were fantastic. Finn has 3 siblings and the whole time I am reading this, I can just imagine it being my husband and his siblings how they always tease and joke with one another and are in each other’s daily lives. You always know they will have each other’s backs. I really felt as though this story has it all to reach a wide audience! Mystery, humor, friendship, family, secrets, love and heartbreak. I highly recommend it to all readers!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, twists & turns, suspense, and heartbreak.

This is Melanie and Finn’s story. Melanie is content with her life she has her own house, a career, and a cat. She knows a hot police officer lives down the street but she does not need a man. One day when her cat comes home with a note from that hot police officer things change. He’s a detective and is home recovering from a hit and run. As they get to know each other they grow closer. But danger is right around the corner. Can he protect her from the danger? Or will he lose her to the danger before he has a chance to win her over?

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

This was a very cute story, one I did enjoy. This was also my first read by this author. I liked the plot a lot the hero was a cop, heroine a writer. Lived a few house a way and communicated through notes which a cat delievered. I felt like the angst and passion was to much of a slow build.

Finn and Mel had a love story I wish I can have one day, as well as a relatable one. I felt like it was relatable and well written. Had a nice pace to it wasn't rushed and well perpetuated. Some scenes had some twist and turns and a bit of a mystery. Even some suspense but that's what kept me on my toes. I really enjoyed it a lot especially this writers writing. Flowed nicely and beautifully.

Book one of a 2 book series

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a wonderful love at first site with a fatal attraction twist story. And a cat that was sent to save the day. Finn and Mel are neighbors. They meet while Finn is home rehabilitating after being hit by a car. Mel has recently moved to the neighborhood after her Aunt has passed away and left her the house.

WATCH OVER started out really strong with an adorable meet-cute between Finn and Mel but as the story went on I struggled to keep reading and eventually skimmed the last 25%. The writing is fairly simplistic (which isn't bad per se) but it felt a bit formulaic like the author was following a list of things that should be in a romance book. It was also pretty predictable and this removed all the tension that the suspense should have added.

On the good side, I liked both Finn and Mel as characters and I also really enjoyed Finn's brothers and sisters and liked their addition to the story. The reason this is 2 stars instead of 3 is because there were too many romance cliches; Mel is the perfect heroine, though she does struggle with her self-confidence and I felt this part was written well. All of Finn's exes are portrayed as manipulative and mean and he's never dated anyone like Mel but he's immediately captivated by her for unknown reasons.

On top of this there were a few scenes that were a bit concerning and instead they're casually passed by. For instance, Finn reflects with his brother on when he made detective, went to a bar, got drunk, and made out with another woman, all while he was dating his last ex. Neither he nor his brother seemed concerned with the fact that he was pretty much cheating on Tatianna but I guess since she's the evil ex, it's ok? (note: it's not!). Then there's a scene where Finn and his brother are observing Finn's partner interrogate a suspect (not related to Mel's stalker) and the suspect confesses to raping a 14 year old girl who fought and cried the whole time...and then we just move on with the story. It seemed completely unnecessary to add that in when it had no purpose. I know this seems nit-picky but this and several other scenes just really jerked me out of the story because of the oddness to them. Overall, this didn't work out for me and even though I loved the DeLuca family, I don't plan to continue with this series.

Disappointed

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I had really high hopes for this book.
There were many problems with this story but the most prominent would be Mel. She was a weak heroine and very underdeveloped. I found myself shaking my head at how weak and pitiful she was. I usually read books with strong characters, yet I still enjoy a Prince Charming coming to the rescue. But, even “Prince Charming” was a letdown.
I forced myself to finish this book because I love Amy Reece’s work...usually. I will not be reading any more of this series. This book did not flow and the plot fell flat.
If you're looking for an exciting book, look somewhere else. And if you are looking for a weak heroine and predictable book, then go ahead and read.
I mean I predicted everything the first few chapters so maybe that’s why I did not like it.

This was an okay book. I figured out immediately who was stalking Mel. And the reasons behind this was just beyond stupid. Especially when the medicine was put in Melanie's drink. Then, in the end, it was hurriedly wrapped up. I was also annoyed that most of the book was spent dealing with Melanie's relationship insecurities. So a college boyfriend cheated on her, that is not that serious where it stunted her emotional growth to that effect where she was suspicious of everyone's motives. I felt no real connection between her and Finn. It was like he was doing most of the emotional work. The writing could have been a little better. I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Absolutely loved! This story is a definite must read, I devoured it.

Melanie Blythe, just lost her great Aunt to cancer. Coming from very little family, when she got the call that her Aunt was sick, she left Illinois a year ago to move to Albuquerque, to take care of her. She works from home, during the day as a graphic designer and at night she's a romance novelist. This makes her an introvert, having had only her Aunt as her only friend in the past year. Her Aunt left everything to her, the house, a car, and all her assets. That includes a cute little dog and a cat that wormed herself into her life and well as her sexy neighbor's life too.

Finn DeLucca is a detective in the police force currently on medical leave. When he was jogging one morning he was run over by a car, left to linger in a coma for 10 days. The cops never found the driver. It's now been three months since the accident and surgery but he's still wheelchair bound due to both his broken femur and ankle. When a cat shows up one morning and spends the day with him only to return home at the end of the day, Finn gets curious about the owner. He starts spying on her with his binoculars and likes what he sees. So he sends the cat home one day with a note attached to her collar. From then on Mel and Finn communicate via the cat with funny letters getting to know each other.

Mel can't understand why someone would be interested in her. Ever since a bad relationship in college, she's stayed away from relationships on purpose. One day when Finn tells her about his reason for not being able to leave his house due to the accident, the caretaker in Mel steps in. She runs over there bringing fresh banana bread to introduce herself formally. The minute she sees him, she's tongue tied; he's no better. After spending the day with each other, they start becoming inseparable. She starts working out of his home with her laptop while he works on some cold cases.

When strange things start happening at her house, starting with feeling like someone is watching her, dishes leaving the sink and ending up in the dishwasher she never uses, and her front door being unlocked and left open, Mel tells Finn. He then starts walking her home every night to make sure that her house is secure. He thinks that she might have a stalker.

When the couple have a fight, she spends the night getting drunk with his sister, Cara. When Cara leaves to crash at Finn's for the night, something terrible happens to Mel while she's sleeping.

Her cat wakes up Finn, which is a first since she sleeps with Mel but spends the day with him. He immediately knows that something's wrong. He follows the cat outside only to see that Mel's house is on fire. He lets himself inside only to find her unconscious and unresponsive. At the hospital, the doctor informs them that she had drugs in her system and if not for the fire, she would have been dead by the morning.

Finn and his partner start looking into this determined more than ever when they find a message poured in gasoline on her burnt grass. Only time will tell that she's not the one being stalked, he's the intended target.

I definitely recommend reading this book, it's a must read!

Watch Over is book 1 in the DeLucas series, from author Amy Reece. This is my first book from this author, and defiantly won’t be my last. I cannot wait to see what other great stories this author gives us, and what else she will bring to this series. Can I point out one thing about this book, and it’s the front cover, normally I don’t really take any notice of the front covers it’s all about the synopsis but it was totally the other way around for me with this one. I was captivated by the cover, it completely rounded the whole story together and made a statement that stuck me through the duration of this read.

This was an incredible book, and a brilliant start to a series that I know will continue to get better and better. I was well hooked from the first page until the very last. I was captivated, hooked and sucked into this read unable to put it down.
This book had various themes throughout it from love, romance, passion, friendship & suspense. This book also had a great deal of emotions from the characters that as the reader I could truly feel, such as, love, passion, happiness, sadness and fear. I’ve laughed, smiled, and been on the edge of my seat with the twists and turns that occur in this book, wondering what could possibly happen next.

This book had some great scenes between the two main characters Mel & Finn and I loved reading their interactions with each other, especially how they first meet, I think this has got to be the cutest and most unique way to meet someone that I have ever read, just from their brief interactions You could tell that what these two characters was going to have was going to be real, They started off with such a great friendship, that slowly each of them never expected to start falling for each other just from the simplest of things or the time they spend together but with that being said once they finally realise their connection and their relationship developing they have an undeniable connection that was passionate, real and exactly what both of these characters needed.

This book was made even more brilliant by the secondary characters that were in this story. I loved Cara & Izzy they played a big part in seeing a side to Mel that we getting opening up to us, but I also like Finn’s partner Chris and the underlying connection you can kind of get a glimpse at with Finn’s brother Hugh. Getting each of these characters introduced in this book creates a big opening for them, and I can’t wait to see if we get to read their stories in more detail.

Another great thing with this book is that it was written in dual POV’s. I love reading it from the characters POV’s as we get to really see their thoughts and feeling from them rather than the other person. I also think it helps connect with a character as you get to understand some of their reasons of their actions!

I can’t wait to see what else can be awaiting the DeLucas Series, I’ll be eagerly awaiting Book 2, but until then do not miss this brilliant read of growing confidence, love, trust, friends and finding new family.

This book is the first book of Amy Reece’s that I have read. Because of this, I wasn’t sure on what to expect. But I needn’t have worried because from page one I was hooked. I devoured this book in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked Melanie and Finn. I liked how they got talking and the chemistry between them. I thought they were a cute couple and wanted them both to be happy. The stalking in this book had me on the edge of my seat but I will admit that I figured out who it was within a few chapters.
I liked the secondary characters in this book. I liked Finn’s family and I liked the neighbour that helped save Melanie. I liked the friendships that Melanie formed with Cara and Izzy. I liked that Finn and Melanie’s relationship started off as a friendship and then grew into a relationship. I was happy that it wasn’t a ‘’hi lets be boyfriend and girlfriend’’ situation. I wasn’t once bored during this book, entertained throughout and satisfied with the ending.
C.J. was super cute and I loved that he got Finn’s attention to the danger Melanie was in. I liked that he was the reason that Melanie and Finn became friends. The letters written in the cat’s perspective were hilarious.
The one complaint/annoyance that I had was that several times, Finn referenced how his past ex’s were hot. He also mentioned that although Melanie was pretty, she looked nothing like his model ex’s. I just wanted to say to him that Melanie was better then his previous woman. She was an amazing but shy woman that helped him out and was the good girlfriend.
I cannot wait for more books from this series. I am eager for more from the DeLuca family.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read.

Melanie Blythe has her own home, a successful career and two cute pets. A dog her late aunt left her and a cat that has decided to constantly turn up at her home and make her its owner. When the cat arrives back at her house with a letter, Melanie is intrigued. Reading a letter that is written by her mysterious neighbour in the cat’s perspective. Amused and intrigued, she decides to write a response.
Finn DeLuca is stuck at home in a wheelchair due to a broken leg after being involved in a hit and run. Intrigued about his neighbour, he sends the cat that visits him, home with a letter. What started off as one letter turns into a series of letters to and from each neighbour. When Melanie learns of Finn’s accident, she is determined to help and soon meets him in person. As the two spend time together and get to know one another, an attraction grows. When Melanie starts having strange things happen in her home, Finn becomes concerned. As Melanie and Finn progress into a relationship, the danger surrounding Melanie grows stronger. Will Finn and Melanie be safe from the stalker? Is the danger closer to home than they think?
